30th September:
Appeal for communal harmony:

Ayodhya case verdict is scheduled today and as a result of this administration has triggered security level to highest throughout district. It has urged all citizens to co-operate with administration and police in maintaining communal harmony and peace throughout. It has also appointed officers on Tahsil level for daily detailed reporting to district head quarter and has made special security arrangements for religious places.
It has called additional companies of SRP, home guards, striking force, RSP and CRPF to have special vigil on sensitive areas. Jalgaon, Bhusawal, Faizpur, Savda, Yaval, Raver, Chalisgaon, Pachora, Amalner, Nashirabad and Chopda have been marked as sensitive locations. It has also banned use of fire crackers for next 2 days beginning today. All educational institutions are open today.

Monsoon showering benefits standing crop:
Jalgaon district has witnessed uneven and showering style of monsoon in this season. As a result of this district crop is in good health and is all set avail good yields in this season. District’s major crops cotton and banana are cultivated widely and this season’s overall demand would boost farmers and producers with good cash flow. Grains and cultivation like soya, sunflower are in lesser areas but have good growth. Farmers now wait for good raining to initiate Rubby preparations.

29th September:
District Police appeal to citizens:

Jalgaon district Police and entire State police has urged citizens to co-operate with Police to keep Law and Order situation amidst upcoming Ayodhya case verdict tomorrow. It has urged citizens not to involve in any sort of anti-national activity and not to be a part of groups/ teams spreading tension and panic in citizens on religious grounds. It further appeals citizens to contact 100 or Jalgaon – 0257-2223333, Dhule – 02562-288211/12, Nandurbar – 02564-210100 on police control rooms for any of assistance and updates on the front.
It has also imposed Bombay Police Act, 1951 section 37(1) and 37(3) in district to control and regulate law and order situation and has banned protest marches, ferry and group meets. It has also added State reserved Police Company, 1,500 homeguards and rapid action forces 7 battalions for full control of the region. Alert level has been raised to highest throughout the nation.

Tejas Kulkarni wins Rotary Club chess competition:
Rotary club of Jalgaon midtown and Jalgaon west organised Khandesh level chess competition evoked fabulous response with participation of 411 players. Competition had Rustomji School student Tejas Kulkarni winning the first prize followed by Divyesh Patel, Ravi Dashputre as top-3 in open category. The under-9 category had Mahesh Kabra Dhule, Adesh Oswal, Jalgaon and Saurabh Bothra, Jalgaon in boys and Bhagyashree Patil, Smruti Agrawal and Khushi Jain in girls. Under-12 category had Mohit Patil, Pachora, Arvind Tayade, Jalgaon and Lokesh Jagtap Jalgaon along with Shivani Chaudhari from Jamner in girls.
Under-15 category had Sitanshu Patil, Jalgaon, Pranav Vable Chalisgaon and Rajkiran Shivde in boys along with Deepika Mandora in girls. G. S. High School Pachora, St. Joseph School and Rustomji High Schools won best school participation awards.

Income tax department extends deadline till 15th October:

Income tax department yesterday announced extension in tax audit based returns filling till 15th October to that of earlier 30th September 2010. This decision is amidst flooding and rain pouring in many States.

CCI resolution to avail Rs. 3,500 to 4,000 rate for cotton:
Cotton Corporation of India yesterday announced its resolution to start immediate cotton buying in State under State guarantee scheme and avail around Rs. 3,500 to 4,000 per quintal rate depending on quality. It has estimated bumper cotton produces in this season throughout State and has urged State to introduce NAFED for this buying.

SSC and HSC exams begin on smooth note:
Jalgaon district’s 2,318 SSC and 2,510 HSC repeater candidates yesterday appeared for the October session exam. First day went smooth with no abnormal activity reported. Today SSC exam has Marathi and HSC has English paper. There are 31 centres in district which includes 17 for SSC and rest for HSC.
Sudden electricity load shedding increase has raised panic levels in student community and have demanded immediate stopping of load shedding to State electricity distribution Company.

27th September:
Monsoon 2010 – district awaits dam water levels increase:

Jalgaon district’s major water storing dam are yet awaiting for monsoon magic to achieve 100% levels. With monsoon almost over, district’s largest dam Girana dam failed to witnessed its full marks. This season’s first raining begun on 13th June and had wide intervals in between. Few areas got flooded and witnessed wet draught with crop losses wherein dam basin areas had lower and medium rainfall. A few smaller dam had good raining and as a result have overflowed in storage. All in this entire monsoon has been mixed mode with a bit of imbalance by extremity in few areas and lowered raining in others.

District administration receives 8 Crores tourism promotion fund:
Jalgaon district administration has received state confirmation and grants of Rs. 8 Crores towards its earlier sent 150 Crores tourism development proposal for Jalgaon through Khandesh tourism development trust. This proposal requirements and availed shortened fund has dispersed district’s hopes for good tourism growth through infrastructural resources. Proposal was sent in June and State has approved only 8 Crores towards the same.

Adv. Baheti memorial debating competition – M. J. College wins:
Adv. Baheti memorial State level debating competition ended yesterday with Mayur Bhave and Deepali Amrutkar from M. J. College winning the first prize followed by Navaz Hussain Shaikh and Apsar Yasin Shaikh from C. D. Jain College Shrirampur winning second prize and Gokul Lahase and Ashish Kute winning third prize in team category. Mayur Bhave, Navaz Shaikh, Pradnya More (Rashtriya College, Chalisgaon) and Pranjali Bhangale (Government Engineering College Jalgaon) won individual category award.

State squash competition – Jalgaon, Aurangabad and Akola wins:
Maharashtra squash racket association conducted 32nd junior and sub-junior squash racket competition ended yesterday with Jalgaon, Aurangabad and Akola winning their respective category matches. Akola boys and Jalgaon girls won under-11, Aurangabad boys and girls won under-13 and under-15 and under-17 category competition.

26th September:
Prime Minister visit to Nandurbar district cheers Khandesh:

Prime Minister of India’s proposed visit to Nandurbar district has cheered the region with likely booster and benefits packages announcements. Nandurbar district’s large tribal area based farmers still lacks various forestry rights. District administration and State government have raised their alert levels for getting most of works done and present the shining side.

SSC and HSC exam from Monday:
Maharashtra State board of secondary and Higher secondary education is conducting October exams of SSC and HSC from 27th September throughout the State. There are 2.67 Lakh students in State and every centre will have videography during exam conduct and 7 flying squads at every district level. Khandesh’s banana faces jolt following raining in northern India:
Khandesh’s around 16,000 quintal banana is lying with no buyers in northern India following rain pouring since last 4 days in whole northern zone. Ayodhya case result has also destabilised and lowered buying at all levels. As a result of this banana worth Rs. 25 Lakhs sent through 84 racks are lying in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.

State squash racket competition – day 2:
Maharashtra State squash association organised sub-junior and junior category State level under-17 competition yesterday witnessed Jalgaon defeating Wardha and Yavatmal teams. In other categories Aurangabad, Jalna and Pune shined. Today’s matches include Jalgaon versus Pune, Aurangabad versus Amravati along with Aurangabad versus Satara, Jalgaon versus Parbhani, Aurangabad versus Solapur, Jalna versus Jalgaon, Solapur versus Jalgaon in under-17 category. Aurangabad would play versus Jalna in finals of the competition.

25th September:
Corporation general body meeting review:

Jalgaon city municipal corporation general body met yesterday to discuss various issues in its run. It has unanimously decided to pass on request of Khandesh mill land conversion from industrial to residential category to State government. Earlier this land had permission of industrial use and this approval from general body would now be reviewed and finalised by State urban development ministry.
Body has approved reduction in LBT rates for grains, pulses and edible oil and has sent this resolution to State for finalisation. New rates would be Re. 0.05 per hundred for grains, pulses, Re. 0.25 for soya and 0.50 for edible oils.

Pulse polio vaccination on Sunday, 26th September:
District health authorities are conducting pulse polio vaccination drive on Sunday, 26th September throughout district. It has setup ambitious target of 328,000 children below 5 years for this vaccination and urged citizens to co-operate in the same.

NMU conducted Ph.D. entrance exam on Sunday:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon is conducting entrance exam for Ph.D. admission on Sunday, 26th September at M. J. College commerce building for Law, Science, pharmacy, engineering and technical streams. It has arranged humanities department building for arts and fine arts streams, commerce and physical education streams at IMR and psychology and sociology streams at KCE Engineering College. There are 1,763 candidates appearing for this exam and 1,200 candidates have been relaxed from giving this entrance based on their qualification and experience. In all 2,963 candidates would undergo doctorate under N.M.U.

State squash competition – Jalgaon and Aurangabad marks winning notes:
Squash rackets association of Maharashtra and its district counterpart jointly organised State junior and sub-junior category competition begun yesterday at district stadium. Jalgaon boys defeated Dhule in under-11 and Aurangabad defeated Jalgaon under-13 category in inaugural matches.

Agrawal cricket competition from 02nd October:
District Cricket association conducted Late Suresh Agrawal memorial cricket competition is beginning from 02nd October at Police Parade ground. Last date of participation in the event is 30th September. Competition attracts first prize - 11,000, second prize – Rs. 5,000 and trophy for both and has various individual category prizes. Khandesh’s 8 farmers get agricultural awards:

Jalgaon district’s 2 and Nandurbar’s 6 farmers have been nominated for Vasantrao Naik farming and horticulture award for the year. This includes Sitaram Damu Patil from Kharag (Vadani) in Chopda and Rajendra Hari Patil from Vade in Bhadgaon. This award comprises of Rs. 50,000 cash, memento and certificate.

Dr. K. B. Patil gets additional charge of Marathwada University:

North Maharashtra University Jalgaon Vice Chancellor Dr. K. B. Patil has been assigned with additional charge of Vice Chancellor of Dr. Ambedkar Marathwada University Aurangabad. Divisional Commissioner has made this appointment and Dr. Patil would allocate 2 days in a week for this charge.

State squash racket competition in Jalgaon:
squash racket association of Maharashtra and district squash racket association jointly conducted State level competition is beginning today at district sports complex. Competition has participation of various district teams and district would have under-11, under-13, under-15 and under-17 teams participating in this competition.

Dr. Bendale College qualifies for State football competition:
Jalgaon based Dr. Bendale College team has qualified for State competition by defeating H.L. New College Ojhar team in divisional competition played in Nashik. Team scored 6 goals victory on the counter team and would now play in State level competition.

23rd September:
Indian Bank and Cosmos bank floats advertisements for new branches in Jalgaon:

Jalgaon’s banking boon is at its highest time. Indian Bank, a public sector bank has announced opening up of its Jalgaon branch and has started search for land for the same in Jalgaon city. This follows Cosmos bank announcing its new branches in Jalgaon at Bank street, Navi Peth, Ganesh Colony, Mahabal area and MIDC area along with Pandurang Talkies, Jamner road, M. G. Road and Shani temple area. Entry of both banks opening up multiple branches would trigger real estate and avail good employment opportunities for youth here.

NMU to set up meteorological department in association with Indian Institute of Geo-magnetism:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon and Indian Institute of Geo-Magnetism have signed a memorandum of understanding for various geographical studies in northern Maharashtra region. This would include detailed study of ecology and geography of this region along with setting up of meteorological laboratory in near future. First phase would include detailed study of hot water fountains in the region and then evaluating its benefits.

Jalgaon’s Poet N. D. Mahanor honoured with Bhalerao award:
Jalgaon based nature poet N. D. Mahanor has been nominated for this year’s Late Anant Bhalerao memorial award for the year from its Aurangabad based trust. This award comprises of Rs. 25,000 cash and memento and would be honoured in ceremony on 31st October.

22nd September:
Anant Chaturdashi today – Ganpati Bappa Morya – Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya!
District’s all Ganesha Mandal have all set to give grand goodbye to their beloved lord of happiness Ganpati Bappa today. There are 1,263 public and 480 private Ganesha Mandal having observed the festivity in this year. District administration has made adequate security arrangements at various lakes and rivers for submerging of idols today. This year’s festivity had 99 villages having made unique ‘One Village – One Ganesha’ festivity!

State announces dry day following Ayodhya case verdict on 24th September:
Maharashtra State Government as a cautionary measure has announced dry day and closure of all permit rooms in whole State following upcoming verdict on prolonged and much religious complex issue of Ayodhya on 24th September. This caution would remain in effect from 23rd until 25th September and would help Police in quick controlling of likely inter-personal clashes on communal grounds and has also setup control rooms on Tahsil level and also has Bombay Police Act 1951 enforced for banning grouped protests and alike activities. District Police has intensified security level to highest and is patrolling, searching various links of antisocial elements. It has urged citizens not to get ear to such rumours during these days and communicate Police on the same for immediate handling on 0257-2220152, 2217193, 2223180 and 2220800.

District farmers make one step ahead through agricultural produces exports:
Jalgaon district’s agriculture is in golden days with its agricultural producers and farmers continuing to strive best rates for its produces. District’s popular for its banana and cotton yield in agriculture has one more addition of Ladies finger as another good volume export. District producers are sending around 150 tonnes of Ladies finger to various international markets including London, USA and UAE areas along with various national destinations through Mumbai based agricultural exports agencies. All exports are shipped in 4kg box packing and does get good rate in international markets.  This new source of agricultural revenue now avails employment to around 4 Lakh farmers/ producers based youth.

St. Teresa School wins junior challenge trophy competition:
Jalgaon based St. Teresa School has defeated Sane Guruji primary School by 8 wickets to win junior challenge trophy cricket competition. School’s all-rounder player Sushant Kabra won Man of the Match and Man of the series award for his excellent play throughout the competition. School bowled out Sane Guruji School team at mere 45 runs and scored same loosing mere two wickets.

20th September:

Pravin Bhitande wins National road race cycling competition:
District cycling association and Sadguru Education society and its Maharashtra cycling association jointly conducted national road race cycling competition ended on Sunday with army cyclist Pravin Bhitande winning by completing in 2 hours 22 minutes and 27 seconds along with Ram Vishnu Jadhav from Sangli winning in Indian cycling category with 51 minutes 37 seconds. Jalgaon sports academy player Vaishali Kumavat won in women category. Competition had 88 kms run from Raymond crossing to Wakod.
Competition had first prime sprint (34kms), second prime sprint (45 kms), king of caves (75kms) and final finishing (88kms) along with Indian made cycles (88kms), women category (12kms) matches. Army cyclists dominated the event with maximum winnings in various categories.

Jalgaon’s players selected for open international taekwondo competition:
Jalgaon based 3 players have been selected for first Indian open international taekwondo competition to be played at Vishakhapattanam. This includes Trupti Tayade, Komal Mahajan in 46kg category and Ankita Patil in 49kg category. This selection in based on year 2008-09 performance and various national events performance of these players.

Cottonomics 2010 – district to witness around 1,000 Crores turnover:
Jalgaon district farmers have a golden time and real Diwali celebration this year with cheered and fast moving selling of cotton produces. This season cotton is likely to add around 1,000 Crores turnover in form of various private and government buying. This season has 5.22 Lakh hectares land under cotton cultivation and slower raining would add to yields. Lower international availability would also peak the rates and benefit producers here. State would announce its buying policy shortly.

Amar African circus in Jalgaon:
International fame Amar African circus has set up its circus in Jalgaon and would run shows from 19th September in 3 timings a day. This would include afternoon 1pm show, 4pm show and 7pm show. This circus has 125 expert artists and performers with 6 African, 4 Russian and few Mangolian players. Circus would perform in Jalgaon until next few months.

15th September:
Gold touches Rs. 20,000 per 10gms mark:

Gold and precious metals are at their peak high with increased demands and lower availability of the Gold. As a result of this gold has risen sharply to touch its new high of Rs. 20,000 per 10gms. However jewellery market continue to witness rising buying trend and Jalgaon jeweller’s shops are full of buyers. Jewellers here have estimated pricing of around Rs. 22,000 for gold and silver has already risen to its lifetime high of Rs. 33,400 per kg.

National level cycling competition in Jalgaon:
Jalgaon cycle association and its State and national counterpart are jointly organising national cycling competition in Jalgaon from 19th September. Competition has Jalgaon to Aurangabad highway based 100kms route and attracts around Rs. 2 Lakhs cash prizes. Organisers have estimated around 7 Lakhs total expense for the same. Competition is in open category and allows all above 19 years age group and has both boys and girls. This competition would rejuvenate district association having slowed down its pace since a decade. District chess association and Rotary club Jalgaon Midtown and Jalgaon West are jointly conducting two days open chess competition from 25th September Rotary Hall Mayadevi Nagar. Competition attracts prizes worth Rs. 10,000. It has first prize of Rs. 2,001, Second prize of Rs. 1,501, third prize of Rs. 1,001, fourth – 751, fifth – 561 and Rs. 500 each for sixth to tenth rankers. Nagpur wins State level Cycle polo competition in Jalgaon:
District amateur cycle polo association, youth development foundation and rotary club conducted 31st State level junior cycle polo competition ended yesterday with Nagpur winning the event with Ahmednagar as runner up. In yesterday’s matches Nagar defeated Chandrapur and Pune defeated Akola to enter semis. Nagar defeated Pune in Semis and Nagpur defeated Nashik to enter finals. Nagpur played dominated games and won with 11 versus 2 goals.

Jalgaon district cotton producers have celebration and rejoicing time this season with its cotton in highest demand. District gears up preparation on Ganesha arrival:
Jalgaon district’s large number of Ganesha Mandal finalised their last preparations for warm welcome of the Lord of happiness today. This year’s festivity has 1885 Ganesha Mandal throughout district making various kinds of decorations. This year count includes 1,290 public Ganesha Mandal and 595 private Mandal. Administration has made wide security arrangements for smooth conduct of whole festivity. It has also altered traffic routes for today’s procession in city’s main roads.

Cosmos bank opens Jalgaon branch:
Maharashtra State’s another fast growing co-operative bank Cosmos bank has opened up its Jalgaon and Bhusawal branches after its merger with Bhusawal head quartered Sushil Kumar Nahata co-operative bank. 10th September:
Wet draught alike situation – Meteorological department estimates heavy pouring in next 24 hours:

Monsoon 2010 is yet with an month spare and district’s many Tahsil have already crossed above average rainfall in this season. Meteorological department has estimated more raining in next 24 hours in whole district. As a result of this district agriculture is likely to get worst impact ahead. Continued showering trend of raining earlier has already damaged large quantity of crop and district’s major produce cotton is also getting affected with the same. This whole situation and if heavy rain arrives further, whole Kharip crop could be in danger. Chopda, Raver, Yaval, Jalgaon, Erandol, Dharangaon, Bhadgaon and Muktainagar are few likely to be affected Tahsil in the district.
However this raining leading to good water level enhancement in soil would benefit upcoming Rubby season crop and district could see more of yield in the season. Authorities have opened up 36 gates of Hatnur dam to control water pressure following heavy raining in its basin area in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra region.

Administration implies Bombay Police Act 1951:
Jalgaon district administration has enforced Bombay Police Act, 1951 section 37(1) and 37(3) in whole district from 11th until 25th September to maintain Law and Order situation during peak festive time. It has urged citizens to follow code of conduct and co-operate administration in smooth conduct of whole festivity processions.

NMU languages department conducted research paper presentation:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon languages department and student welfare department jointly conducted State level research paper presentation on “Mother tongue Hindi – How effective and inspiring”. This competition has State’s 4 Universities and Colleges based Students and lecturers/ professors as participants and has first prize of Rs. 1,500 with certificate and memento, second prize of Rs. 1,000, third – 750 and consolation prize of Rs. 500 for student category. 09th September:
State Board announces SSC and HSC October exam schedule:

Maharashtra State board for secondary and higher secondary education has announced its schedule for upcoming October-2010 exam for SSC and HSC. Written exam begins on 27th September and ends on 11th October and this would follow and will have practical exam in parallel. HSC oral and grade exam is from 18th until 25th September and vocation courses exam is from 12th until 14th October.

Jalgaon’s Prakash Gavali wins two medals in shooting:
Jalgaon based Prakash Dilip Gavali has won one silver and one bronze medal in all India Police shooting competition selection matches at Jalna. He won in 10 meters competition by securing 354 out of 400 points.

08th September:
Village Panchayat heads election from 09th September:

Jalgaon district’s 128 village Panchayat undergoing election in first phase will now conduct village Panchayat head and deputy elections beginning from 09th September. All newly elected head will remain functional for period of five years from 2010 until 2015. Election process has nomination filling, voting and then final election process.

Corporation joint meeting on highways parallel roads:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation conducted its first joint meeting with State Electricity Company and highway authorities. Meeting has resolved to form action committee to take this whole understanding further. This committee would observe all parallel road requirements and would also look for shifting of electricity poles in centre of roads on highways in Shirsoli, Icchadevi Chowk and its road. This committee would submit its detailed proposal to Corporation and same would be approved within 3 weeks. Corporation has also planned to get express feeder for its administrative building uninterrupted power supplies.

07th September:
Village Panchayat election marks wave of change:
Jalgaon district’s all 565 village Panchayat undergoing voting on Sunday, 05th September have clear results announced. This result has marked wave of changes and many new and young faces have replaced their counterpart well established leaders. Many Panchayat now have young faces and first time entrants. BJP has flagged in President Hometown Nadgaon wherein 6 candidates have won after draw conducted on grounds of equal count of votes received.
This election has established leaders facing jolt in Bhusawal, young candidates replacing sound ones in Parola and voters saying no to earlier leaders in Chalisgaon and Jalgaon.

Monsoon 2010 – Raining crosses average mark in 6 Taluka:
Jalgaon district witnessing showering to medium rain now has Erandol, Yaval, Raver, MuktaiNagar, Bodwad and Chopda Taluka having crossed average rainfall. District’s dam are also witnessing rise in water levels. Jalgaon still has 74.2% raining and still awaits good rain. Please refer Monsoon 2010 section for details.

District sales tax department sets 340 Crores target:
Jalgaon district sales tax department has received ambitious target of Rs. 340 Crores for VAT revenue collection for this year. Jalgaon department collected Rs. 316 Crores VAT in year 2009-10 to that of its assigned 276 Crores and now has around 11,000 registered dealers in VAT. Department has plans to introduce wide drive to check unregistered dealers.

Amey Nagarkar makes a new record:
Jalgaon’s mere 6 years boy has made a new record of being smallest aged person to achieve 19kms and 81kms long drive in swimming federation of India assigned timings in on-going 67th national swimming competition being conducted at Behrampur in Bengal. Competition had 40 swimmers and Amey took 2.59 hours to complete this phase and achieved being youngest Indian to get this honour.

Village Panchayat elections – 80% voting recorded:
Jalgaon district’s 565 village Panchayat underwent voting yesterday and have reported 80% voting done. Vote counting has begun today at respective Tahsil office and results would be likely out by afternoon. 88 Panchayat had unopposed election. A few of polling booths have reported minor incidences. Jalgaon Taluka had 76.90% voting, Chalisgaon had 82.48%, Bhadgaon had 81.25%, Erandol had 80%, Yaval had 77.66%, Jamner had 85%, Bhusawal had 67.98%, Raver had 79.70% and Pachora had 83.82% voting recorded.

Cottonomics 2010 – CCI recommends 3,500 per quintal rate to Centre:
CCI has proposed availing Rs. 3,500 per quintal rate to farmers for cotton in this season. This decision is amidst lower availability, private buyer’s picking larger quantity from farmers in good rates and overall international scenario. This increase in guaranteed rates would benefit district cotton producers largely and would incline more to government buying than that of private traders. This year’s overall cotton buying situation is likely to leverage good profits to district seeing attractions in rate and overall international level demands.

Village Panchayat campaigning ends – voting on Sunday:

Jalgaon district’s 565 village Panchayat are undergoing voting on Sunday, 05th September. Election campaigning has ended in these Panchayat yesterday evening and administration has initiated its all preparations for smoother conduct of the process. This second round of voting had 653 Panchayat and out of these 88 have unopposed candidates. This voting process has 1,966 polling booths and 3,200 staffing for 964,764 voters.

NMU Prof. Dr. P. P. Patil and Dr. Maheshwari to receive Best Teacher award:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon School of Life Sciences department director Prof. Dr. P. P. Patil and Prof. Dr. Vijay Maheshwari have been nominated for this year’s Best Teacher Award. Both would receive this award in a ceremony today by the hands of State CM. Both have served NMU since long time and have strong academic background and have widely presented various papers in their respective fields.

Jalgaon’s mere 6 years aged swimmer Amey Kamlesh Nagarkar has been selected for national swimming competition conducted by swimming federation of India at Murshidabad on 05th September. 03rd September:
Cottonomics 2010 to enrich district:
Cotton cultivation and its produces are in higher demand in this season. Large international demand and countrywide requirement is likely to spur this price level to Rs. 3,500 right on its beginning. This price would go higher to around 4,500 to 5,000 per quintal further during the peak demand. Private buyers have already initiated their moves to contact producers to get good quantity wherein State is yet to introduce its stand on this. China and Pakistan flooding has largely affected their produces and as a result of this Indian demands are at peak. District’s this Kharip cultivation has record high of 522,000 hectares area under cotton cultivation. Last year, State offered 2,850 and private buyers offered Rs. 3,000 to 3,200 per quintal.

Janmashtami celebrated with cheer and enthusiasm:
Jalgaon district celebrated joyous eve of Janmashtami yesterday with wide spread Dahi Handi celebrations throughout region. District’s traditional Dahi Handi at Subhash Chowk was taken by Shree Krishna Mitra Mandal in second attempt using pyramid-5 structure. This was second consecutive year for the Mandal to achieve this. Amongst other celebrations included Visanji Nagar based Govinda, Mahabal based Dahi Handi and many others.

Jalgaon’s Samiran Chauhan scores fifth rank in NTS:
National council of educational research and training conducted national talent search exam result was announced. St. Joseph School class IX student Samiran Chauhan from Jalgaon has secured fifth rank nationwide and second rank in State by scoring 195 out of 225 marks. This exam’s first phase was conducted in November-2009, second in May-2010 and third in August 2010. School’s another student Vinjay Pandhre has also shined in the merit list of this exam by scoring 172 marks.
