31st January:
Jalgaon's education sector draws mega recruitment drives:

The flourishing education setup in Jalgaon city has opened up its wings to recruit qualified and experience teachers and faculties. Both Schooling and technical education on college level have floated big drives for faculty and qualified as well as experienced resources. Never or very less seen Jalgaon based job openings in national leading newspapers and journals has turned to a common routine now. This has equally added to glory of region in establishing its identity.
Arrival of good academicians and education field experienced resources is equally benefiting Jalgaon economy and real estate markets. Every stream of education has initiated its preparation for academic year 2010-11 resource preparation and reviewing its intake sanctions for enhancements. Jalgaon Corporation';s drive Adopt-A-School for initiating English medium education has equally boosted the sector.

Khandesh Mahotsav 2010 ends today:
Khandesh region's first ever Governmental agencies co-aligned and organised social event Khandesh Mahotsav 2010 is ending today. The four days long festivity marked peak response from all layers of community for each and every event in the programme. Function would end today with concluding ceremony having presence of State tourism minister along with many dignitaries marking their presence and Pankaj Udhas Gazal show beginning at 6PM at district stadium. Event marked equally active participation of all three districts namely Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar for various events in the Mahotsav.
Yesterday';s both wrestling and Mulukh Marathi events also marked huge rushes of viewers and equally good participation. Chalisgaon';s Vijay Chaudhari won wrestling competition. Today';s other attractions include half marathon, hobby collections exhibition at Police Multi-purpose hall and Leva boarding and Khandesh Click - Photography exhibition.

Corporation to start 13 English medium schools:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation has announced opening up 13 more English medium schools in Jalgaon city. Its last year started first English medium school in Pimprala marked enthusiastic response. Corporation Education board has introduced Adopt-a-School drive for NGO, social organisations and industries and aims at educating around 8,000 students through these proposed schools.
Proposed list includes following schools for English medium education: Choube School, School# 48, 52 (Pimprala), School#39, 15 (Shivaji Nagar), Central School#3 (Panjrapol), School#50, 53 (Mehrun), School#23, 42 (Hari Vitthal Nagar), School#18 (Girls, Baliram Peth), Bhoite School, School#8,32 (Supreme Colony), Lathi School, School# 30, 45 (Milwani School) and School#8 (Near Mehrun lake).

State women wrestling competition at Dhule:
Dhule district NCP and wrestling associations conducted two days state women wrestling competition begun yesterday at Dhule. Inaugural day matches marked Dhule, Pune, Nashik and Thane girls making winning notes. Competition has participation of 150 wrestlers from across state in 48, 51, 55, 59, 63, 67 and 72kg weight category. Competition quarter finals, semis and final will be played today. Prize distribution ceremony is in evening.

Trupti Tayade wins gold in first national inter-zone Taekwondo competition:
Jalgaon';s Taekwondo player Trupti Tayade has won gold medal in first national inter-zone junior-senior taekwondo competition in west zone 42kg category. West zone had Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Gujrat teams. State won 5 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals in all categories.

30th January:
Khandesh Mahotsav marks historic citizens response:
Khandesh Mahotsav 2010 yesterday wrote its name in golden pages of Jalgaon and whole Khandesh region's history. It achieved never seen alike citizen's response to musical extravaganza and Khandesh pangat, Jatra and Dindi events. Jalgaon city yesterday evening was looking alike celebrating its Diwali with overflowing crowd to every part of event. Event even being Government organised has succeeded in winning citizen's heart by its unique village/ historic alike looks and management. State CM and deputy CM along with many dignitaries inaugurated the event yesterday evening at district sports complex.

State bouquet of assurances for Khandesh:
State CM and deputy CM visit to inaugurate the eve marked showering of various amenities and facilities for the Khandesh region. This includes announcements of opening up of IT Park, Textile Park, completion of 6-lane express highway and reopening of earlier closed ginning and cotton factories to avail employment. Amongst other assurances included availing special annual fund to Khandesh Mahotsav through budget provisions and implementing River-linking project to facilitate irrigation water services. A day before State announced setting up of new civic centre in Jalgaon at 9 Crores estimate. There has been no concrete announcement for farmers having faced huge losses due to sudden raining, cyclonic winds and snowing. Practical speedy implementation of these assurances with equal push from political leaders and ministers from Jalgaon are a few of challenges and hurdles for Khandesh ahead.

Jalgaon city-taluka team wins State cricket competition:
Jalgaon city and Taluka cricket team has won State T-20 Cricket competition organised at Khetia. It defeated Riya Sports in finals. Jalgaon player Santosh Badgujar won best batsman and Pankaj Mahajan won Man of the Series award and Sharif Tadvi getting best bowler award. Riya club scored 157 runs and in response Jalgaon team scored this 158 target at loss of 4 wickets. This included Santosh Badgujar scoring 81, Rahul Chaudhari scoring 20 runs.

29th January:
State jolts Jalgaon again - rolls back on industrial township:
Maharashtra State government wide its affidavit to Mumbai High Court Aurangabad bench has expressed its inability to form State's first industrial township at Jalgaon industrial zone. This decision has caused a shock to Jalgaonities having dreams of good industrial growth from separation through Corporation and its taxing woes. Funniest part on Government front was this announcement reversing its earlier notification took 3 years span and High Court intervention. Corporation also made a unanimous resolution not to form this township which would impact its taxes collection.
Corporation taxation and Octroi along with lowest set of features has paralysed industrial growth of city in last decade in spite of good geography. Many large players have already moved out of Corporation limits following this state. Corporation rather focusing on city's growth stressing more on its own financial woes have depressed industrial community here.

Khandesh Mahotsav 2010 begins with cheer and enthusiasm:
Khandesh Mahotsav trust and Jalgaon tourism development board jointly conducted Khandesh Mahotsav 2010 begun yesterday amidst cheering and enthusiastic participation of Jalgaonities. The four days long festivity key attraction of Khandesh Pangat and Khandesh Jatra organised at Sagar Park had huge rush of visitors in evening time. Mahotsav's second attraction of Khandesh photography also marked good inflow of visitors. Today's Event includes Dindi from district complex in morning, body building competition in evening along with Shreya Ghoshal singing programme from 7pm until 10pm.

State compensations for cyclonic winds awaited:
Jalgaon district having witnessed many natural calamities from period of November to January in form of cyclonic winds, snowing and raining. This caused Crores of losses to farmers in whole Khandesh. Administration in-spite of losses assessment has not received any state announcement on offering compensation for the same. District losses estimate is 25 Crores on 34,500 hectares land and has received mere 95 Lakhs compensation till now. Today's CM visit has raised hope with farmers on likely announcement.

MLA trophy cricket competition:
Ongoing MLA trophy cricket competition at Pachora witnessed Jalgaon based Jain academy and Samrat Malegaon teams entering into semi-final yesterday. Jalgaon defeated Dahisar Mumbai and Malegaon defeated Nashik Academy in quarter final matches. Today's quarter final matches include Parsi gymkhana versus Burhanpur and Thane versus Pachora Gymkhana.

Khandesh Mahotsav inauguration today:
Khandesh region's first ever government conducted social festivity 'Khandesh Mahotsav' is being inaugurated today. The four days long festivity would reflect Khandesh social life, living concepts, cultural values and Khandesh menu. Today's inaugural ceremony would have singer Avdhut Gupte along with district parent minister at Sagar Park through Khandesh Jalsa and Khandesh Jatra events. State CM will arrive in Jalgaon tomorrow to inaugurate the eve at district stadium.

Khandesh menu - attraction of event:
Khandesh region's delicious menu is amongst one of key attractions in today beginning Khandesh Mahotsav festivity. Khandesh Pangat event organised at Sagar Park comprises of 43 stalls and would remain open for all 4 days. Godavari engineering college conducted Phoenix 2010 competition:
Godavari Engineering College Jalgaon is conducting state level engineering competition Phoenix 2010 from 09th February 2010 at its campus. Event has LAN Gaming, IT Quiz contest, Robo Race and C programming competitions. Competition attracts Rs. 7,000 prizes and last date of entry is 07th February. MLA trophy cricket competition:
The on-going MLA trophy cricket competition at Pachora yesterday witnessed Malegaon Samrat team defeating Paradkar Academy Mumbai while Jain Academy Jalgaon defeating Navi Mumbai Cricket clubs. Competition has quarter final matches today in Jain Academy versus Dahisar Blue and Nashik Academy versus Samrat Malegaon.

Jalgaon's Jagdish Zope in State under-14 team:
Jalgaon's left handed bowler and St. Joseph School student Jagdish Zope has been selected in Maharashtra State under-14 cricket team for upcoming competitions.

Bhadgaon municipal Council election:

Bhadgaon municipal Council';s first election has triggered good political heat around. Administration has received 67 nomination forms by now in 6 days and the race continues with many more taking forms. Exact candidature and fight picture will be clear by last date of withdrawal of nominations.

Amalner APMC election:
Amalner Taluka agricultural produces marketing committee election has 46 candidates for 19 seats. APMC has 3,337 voters and voting process is set up at 11 Centre on 31st January 2010. Being last few days of campaigning, candidates have raised levels by individual approach. This election has many rural areas based polling booths as compared to earlier single point voting. This is likely to enhance voting percentage.

R.B. Bhavar wins 4 gold medals in international marathon:
Bhusawal based 89 years old senior athlete R. B. Bhavar has won 4 gold medals in first international senior players (veteran) athletics competition conducted at Pune from 22nd until 24th January 2010. He won 5,000, 1,500, 800 and 400 meters racing competition.

Khandesh Mahotsav preparations in final pace:
Region's first ever Khandesh Mahotsav 2010 preparations are in final pace and event would be inaugurated on Thursday, 28th January evening at 5.30PM through hands of district parent minister and State minister. Thursday morning will have Khandesh artists' performance at Sagar Park in 'Khandesh Jalsa'. District Police has made adequate security arrangements for smooth conduct of the event. Administration and organising is meeting today to discuss enhanced participation of schools and institutions.

Nandurbar and Dhule policemen amongst 35 to receive Presidential medal for bravery:
Jalgaon LCB last inspector Vilas Jadhav, Nandurbar district special branch Police constable Vinayak Rajput and Dhule state reserved police force API Ramesh Shelar have been announced for this year's presidential medals for excellent services to society. There are amongst 35 Policemen state-wide to receive this honour.
Dhule district home guards co-ordinator Rajendra Jirekar and Deputy Yogendra Desale have also been announced for President Medal for best home guards services.

PO Nahata Bhusawal student wins bronze in inter-university body building competition:
NMU affiliated PO Nahata College student Sachin Yuvraj patil has won bronze medal in Guru Nanak University Amritsar conducted All India Inter-University Body building competition in 85kg category.

Nashik boys and Thane girls win State netball competition:

District netball association conducted State level netball competition ended yesterday with Nashik boys and Thane girls winning respective group matches. Nashik player Vinod Wani and Hrutuja Bhot won best players awards. Thane boys stood runner up along with Nashik girls won runner up followed by Mumbai sub-urban and Nagar teams on third position.

Artillery centre Devlali wins MLA trophy Kabbadi competition:
Devlali based Artillery centre has defeated Nashik police team by 22-10 in finals of MLA trophy Kabbadi competition conducted at Bhusawal. Competition had Rs. 31,000 cash prize with silver trophy for winning team and Rs. 21,000 cash with trophy to second ranker. Nandurbar lost its group match to Artillery centre team by mere 2 points.

Mercury freezes and goes down again:
District is witnessed second arrival of cold waves in last two days. Temperature has fallen below 10 degrees and frosting cold waves are observed during early morning and late nights. Authorities have reported 8.8 degree Celsius temperature in Jalgaon yesterday and have termed it as northern Indian cold effect.

Khandesh Mahotsav promotion begins in Khandesh:
Region';s first ever Khandesh Mahotsav festivity promotion and mass awareness begun yesterday. Administration flagged off informative and promotion van covering various aspects of the event. Event key highlights and must see include cultural Dindi, Khandesh Pangat (speciality Khandesh menu items) and Khandesh Jalsa focussing young talent from region. Event preparation team includes around 1,200 Class-1 officers, class-2 and supportive event management teams.

State level AIMS programming contest today:
Agrawal Institute of management conducted 9th State level AIMS programming contest written test is being conducted today. It has set up 70 centres State-wide for students from various universities throughout State. Written test result and merit list will be announced on 01st February and this would follow practical test. Competition awards two moving trophies to winning team and special participation trophies to first 20 colleges and has total prize money of Rs. 30,000.

State netball competition:
District netball association conducted State level sub-junior net ball competition was inaugurated yesterday. Inaugural day marked winning note for host Jalgaon by defeating Pune while host Jalgaon girls'; team lost to Mumbai. Amongst other matches include Nashik versus Jalna and Satara versus Beed in A-group, Thane defeated Nagar and Jalgaon defeating Dhule.

District sports award announced:
District sports office annual sports award in joint association with sports and youth services directorate have been announced. This includes Shridhar Tripathi as best player, Gorakh Suryawanshi nominated for best trainer. Awards distribution is on republic day at Police parade ground.

23rd and 22nd January:
Swine flu death toll rises by one:

Jalgaon district civil hospital has reported death of swine flu positive patient yesterday afternoon. She was having Cancer as well and doctors could not succeed in curing here due to late admit. Sudden arise of swine flu case and causing death has trigger administration in citizens amidst upcoming Khandesh Mahotsav.

Khandesh Mahotsav qualifier events cheer life in Jalgaon:
Jalgaon tourism development and Khandesh Mahotsav trust's first Khandesh Mahotsav 2010 is on verge. Festivity preparations have picked up pace with qualifier rounds for final eve presentation. Until now it has conducted qualifying round for 550 candidates and process continues in next 3 days.

State announces 8 new revenue zones in Jalgaon district:
Maharashtra State government wide its GR dated 31st December 2009 has restructured revenue zones in district and added 8 new zones for smoothened collection processing. District earlier had 78 zones and count has now increased to 86. Major restructure includes Jalgaon Taluka - Jalgaon city, Asoda, Pimprala, Nashirabad, Mhsavad and Bhokar.

Corporation announces 10% additional tax on large buildings:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation has announced new tax of 10% on total taxable value for buildings having more than 150 square meters construction. This would increase taxing of such construction/ bungalows by around Rs. 1,500 per annum. This tax is as per directives of State government and 5% of this tax amount will go to State account. Corporation would serve bills for this by this month end.

Neeraj Deo wrote 'Saransh Savarkar' wins best literary award:
Jalgaon based psychologist Neeraj Deo wrote 'Saransh Savarkar' has won Chandrakant Nalage public library Ujlaiwadi Kolhapur announced year 2009 best literary award. Award includes memento and cash prize of Rs. 1,000. Book has extract format 260 pages publication of Veer Savarkar literary of thousands of pages.

Jalgaon district netball association is conducting second state level netball competition today at district sports complex. Competition has 4 grounds for the event and expects participation of many teams across state. This also includes Jalgaon district team for the same.

21st January:
District administration forms Repairs, renovation and restoration of water committee:

Jalgaon district administration has formed repair, renovation and restoration of water committee of 18 members as per central government instructions on restoring and rejuvenating existing leaked lakes and Kolhapur styled dam. This committee would now form report and action plan for the same. District has 32 lakes, 90 Kolhapur type dam, 50 cement dam and 36 village bases in non-functional and repair states.
Committee includes government officials and private participation and all suggested updates will receive 75% contribution from centre and 25% from State.

National council on Industrial and computational mathematics at NMU:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon mathematics department is conducting 3 days national convention on Industrial and computational mathematics from today. Event begins today at NMU senate hall and concludes on Saturday, 23rd January. It expects around 200 scholars and experts in the field and 70 paper presentations.

MLA trophy cricket competition at Pachora:
The on-going MLA trophy cricket competition at Pachora yesterday witnessed witness Thane Victory Club Thane team defeating Riya Club Jalgaon by 6 wickets, Pachora gymkhana defeating Parbhani. Pachora player Sushant Jadhav scored century in mere 56 balls to mark event. Parbhani scored 156 runs in 22 over and Pachora won the match by scoring this target in just 19 overs.

20th January:
Khandesh Mahotsav - talent hunt selection tests begin today:

District tourism promotion and festivity trust organised Khandesh Mahotsav preparations are gearing up. Authorities would begin two days selection test processes from today at JDCC Bank Hall. It expects participation of 600 artists in various rolls and then select final qualifiers to perform on the main eve of festivity. Festivity had wide range of Khandesh cultural dances, singing and alike activities.

Household LPG cylinder burst fires 25 houses:
Deshmukh Nagar area of Tambapura in Jalgaon city yesterday witnessed tragic fire epic leading to intense fire damaging around 25 temporary sort of houses. Fire began with short-circuit and then catch ahead with 3 household LPG getting burst due to it. Authorities have estimated losses worth Rs. 5 Lakhs as per primary estimates and there were no life losses.

After banking Jalgaon city is all set and gearing itself to be next educational hub with amazing geography and better connectivity and growing needs. Career Launcher Group owned Indus World School has announced opening up of its Jalgaon School from coming academic year. The CBSE pattern based school will have nursery to Std. II education from June 2010 and will extend further until 12th in coming years.

Cold wave hits Khandesh:
Entire Khandesh region is witness re-arrival of cold waves in last two days. This has led to significant fall in temperature during last few days and frosting air breeze is observed during morning and late nights.

Corporation city bus service JMTU fare hike proposal:

Jalgaon city municipal corporation inaugurated city bus service JMTU running private party has sent proposal to raise hike in fares following rise in diesel rates. Proposal would come for approval on Corporation meeting on 21st January. JMTU inaugurated its Ecobus service on 15th August 2009. Proposed hike includes around Rs. 2-4 hike depending on distance.

MLA trophy cricket competition - Jalgaon and Dombivali wins:

Jalgaon and Mumbai teams marked this winning performances in yesterday conducted round matches in MLA trophy cricket competition at Pachora. Riya Sports Jalgaon team defeated Navi Mumbai team. Jalgaon scored 169/7 in 25 overs by batting first. In response Jalgaon bowled out Mumbai on 161 runs. In second match Dombivali defeated Mahajan Jalgaon team. It scored 206/4 by batting first.

18th January:
Sakal trophy drama competition results announced:
Sakal trophy inter-college Marathi 'One-Play' drama competition results were announced yesterday. M. J. College Jalgaon team won first prize of Rs. 10,000 followed by same College play 'Mungi Ani Ajabrao' winning second and Dr. Bendale college team played 'Ashru' won third prize. Competition had total 10 dramas presented.

Khandesh Mahotsav begins with mega drawing competition:
Khandesh Mahotsav trust committee organised Khandesh Mahotsav 2010 begun yesterday with mega drawing competition for school students. Competition had participation of large number of students in two categories namely Class I to IV and Class V to XII on various given topics.

Challenge trophy cricket competition:
Jalgaon district cricket association conduced Challenge trophy cricket competition ended yesterday with A. T. Zambre school winning the event by defeating St. Teresa school team in final round. St. Teresa won the toss and bat first and scored 126 runs in 35 overs. Zambre School achieved this core in mere 24 over on loss of 2 wickets. Rohit Patil scored 67 runs on 66 bowls to win Man of the Match Award followed by Vijay Iyyer from St. Teresa School winning Man of the Series award.

Pune wins women hockey competition:
Pune girls have defeated Nashik to conquer State women hockey competition ending in Jalgaon yesterday. Host Jalgaon lost its quarter final match versus Sangli by 3-0. Jalgaon district planning and development committee meeting reviewing:

Jalgaon district planning and development committee met yesterday and reviewed various on roll issues. Amongst major demands included State's hefty compensation announcement for sudden snowing and raining affected farmers and approval of 129.20 Crores annual development plan. This included 86.30 Crores for general plans, 16.75 Crores for scheduled castes and 26.15 Crores for backward tribes.
It also discussed various road situation, electricity woes and health issues. Representative demanded administration intervention to get State earlier announced Khandesh development fund.

'Ek Divas Majhya Jalgaon sathi' drive review:
Jalgaon district administration and Mumbai based Pratham trust jointly conducted and local authorities supported a day event 'Majhya Jalgaon sathi Majha ek divas' as a special day to search and review non-school going children in region. It has found 2,277 kids of 6-14 years age group and 1,307 in 15-18 year age group. Review was conducted in city's many areas. Real challenge ahead lies in implementation aspects to reduce this count and implement Laws created in this reference.

Chopda ginning factory to get State soft loan:
Chopda co-operative ginning factory has received textile confederation approval for State government soft loan of Rs. 53 Crores towards its 25,200 units under 08th fifth plan. This includes Rs. 2.65 Crores towards member share capital, 24.85 Crores towards State capital investment and 26.50 Crores as long term loan. This would change factory's investment structure to 1:9 share capital of State government.

State level women hockey competition - day 1:
State level Jain trophy women hockey competition begun yesterday at District sports complex Jalgaon. Inaugural day matches had host Jalgaon, Sangli, Pune and Nashik teams making winning notes to enter quarter final rounds. Quarter final, semis and final matches would be played today and event would end today evening with prize distribution. Jalgaon girls defeated Parbhani by 7-0 with Jagruti Kale scoring 3, Deepak Kapadne and Piyusha Chavan each scoring 2 goals. In other matches Nashik defeated Raigad by 7-0 and Solapur by 7-0, Aurangabad gave pass to Pune and Sangli defeating Osmanabad by 8-0.

Veterans athletics federation of India is conducting international 3-days ground competitions from 22nd January at Pune. Jalgaon district's 7 players R. B. Indian railways zonal training institute spread in 27 acres land at Bhusawal is completing 48 years of being in service. It has facilitation services for training around 1,500 railway employees at a time and has trained 480,000 railway personnel by now for railways various posts training. Khandesh Union Education Society run Bhagirath English School and Chandsarkar teacher college based 400 students are jointly performing mega Indian Independence drama play 'Vande Mataram' from 18th until 20th January at Bal-Gandharva Open theatre. Administration estimates 65 Crores losses in raining:

Jalgaon district administration has estimates primary losses worth 60-65 Crores due to sudden raining, cyclonic winds and snowing in many areas of district on Monday night. Administration losses estimation is still in progress and this figure could rise further. Chopda is worst hit followed by Yaval and rest Taluka. Many remote areas are still in dark since that day following electricity supply polls going down. Electricity Distribution Company has reported normalcy in supply in next 2 days.

Jalgaon Sales tax office tops in Pune zone:
Jalgaon sales tax office has outshined its 15 counterpart districts in overall VAT collection by achieving 117% of revenue target in Pune zone. Department Jalgaon office had 1,743 VAT cases for the year.

Amalner APMC election - 44 candidates for 19 seats:

Amalner APMC election last date of withdrawal witnessed heavy political activity. Around 127 nominations were withdrawn with inclusion of many known and established candidates. This has now kept on 44 candidates for 19 seats. Pachora APMC picture will be clear by 18th January after withdrawal.

Chopda - The worst affected Taluka in Monday raining:

Chopda Taluka is on top of worst hit list by Monday night sudden cyclonic winds, raining and snowing. It has damaged 5,500 hectares based standing crop and primary estimates reports losses around 50 Crores to Chopda alone. District farmers are witnessing third sudden raining in this financial year severely affecting their productivity and financial backbone.
Rest of Taluka reports are yet to be evaluated. Dozing State government has not availed any special support to farmers on all these losses. Losses estimates are yet to be started.

District's dam water storage in critical levels:
Jalgaon district's all major water storage dam are in critical state of storage levels. This season's lowered monsoon raining already made lesser storage in dam this season. Jalgaon has mere 58.39%, Dhule has 61.10% and Nandurbar has 53% storage levels as of now. This has triggered need of planned approach to tackle coming summer season.

Snowing and cyclonic winds hits Jalgaon again:

Region's farmers are on high fear time with third time arrival of cyclonic winds, sudden raining followed by snowing in most of Taluka. Raining began around 9.30PM with cyclonic winds, snowing in many areas. This has drastically damaged standing wheat, gram, onion and banana farms. It has also disrupted electricity supply as electricity polls have fallen down, road traffic has been blocked due to fall of trees on many highways.
Chopda Taluka has been worst hit with snowing and cyclonic winds. Jalgaon city and Chalisgaon had heavy wind with raining. Amalner few areas had snowing and raining. Administration is yet to revert with losses details on this raining.

Jalgaon people bank to merge Dhule urban co-operative bank:
Jalgaon People's Co-operative Bank Ltd has announced final stage processes on-going for merging Dhule urban co-operative bank in it. Its general body has given approval for allowing Dhule bank shareholders merger in it. Bank has sent its MoU and final proposal to RBI for approval and expects this to be done by March 2010 end.
Earlier mergers of Jalgaon merchant bank into Ahmednagar bank and Nahata bank into others are still in process and have not received RBI approval for the same.

Wheat gets record rate in Jalgaon APMC:
Jalgaon agricultural produces marketing committee yesterday recorded season's highest price for wheat. It crossed Rs. 2,000 per quintal mark yesterday and has recorded 221 quintals of wheat transaction yesterday with rates beginning at 1,500 per quintal. Jawar had Rs. 900 per quintal buying at APMC. Farmers are rejoicing on getting above Rs. 2,000 per quintal rate for wheat.

Tapi Irrigation department initiate Satpuda hills area study for mega recharge project:

Tapi Irrigation Development Corporation officials made a review study of Satpuda hills basin areas to initiate proposed mega recharge scheme to benefit Tapi River basin villages and areas. Proposal includes setting forestry with flora and horticulture in around 4,000 hectares land at estimated cost of 80 Crores.
River areas like Raver, Yaval have turned into dark zone following large amount of water drifting for banana farming and as a result ground water levels in these areas have fallen down considerably. Proposal is planned to be executed by coming monsoon with subjective approval of State government.

NMU moves towards ISO implementation:
Khandesh region's educational hub North Maharashtra University has initiated its move towards ISO implementation. Pulse polio vaccination today:

Entire district is undergoing pulse polio vaccination today. Administration has setup large number of booths and roaming services to cover most of areas. This includes 2,239 booths targeting 438,477 children through 6,167 staff which includes 1,025 supervisors, 119 transits', 84 mobile groups and 6 night duty groups. It has urged all parents to bring their kid below 5 years to nearest booth for this vaccination.

Banana rates dip further:
Increased chill and frosting in Northern India has dipped down banana demand and as a result rates have fallen down by almost 150 Rupees per quintal. Banana was being sold earlier at Rupees 520 per quintal and it has come down to Rs. 380 per quintal.

JDCC Bank announces crop loan policy for 2010-11:
Jalgaon district's apex co-operative bank JDCC Bank has announced its crop loan policy for year 2010-11. It has announced net rise of 20% in crop loan allocation amounting to Rs. 100 Crores. New policy avails Rs. 15,000 to 20,000 per hectare loan on cotton depending on land type, Rs. 1 Lakh per hectare to banana and rise in various other crops also.

Sugar factories in woe - JDCC bank dues mount to 200 Crores:

Jalgaon district's 5 out of 7 sugar factories are down due to financial weakening and district's apex co-operative bank JDCC Bank has around 200 Crores of loan dues with these factories. This loan and interest due is almost thrice of total property valuation of all factories combined together. District has Faizpur and Chopda factories as only two working and functional producers.
Closed units list include Jamner factory, Saint Muktabai factory MuktaiNagar, Omkareshwar factory Raver, Vasant sugar factory Kasoda and Belganga Sugar factory Chalisgaon. Neighbouring Dhule has around 23 Crores due from Sugar factories wherein Nandurbar has 3 factories and all of them are working.

Rubby season to yield good produces:
Stabilising weather conditions, increased cold and chilling weather has availed good produces yield chances in this Rubby season by now. This season's crop like wheat, Jawar, Cotton, gram and corn are on good growth lines.
Raining during start-up period for Rubby helped in good growth of cultivation. Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar all together have good agricultural yield reports from respective district agricultural authority. Jalgaon district health authority is conducting pulse polio vaccination drive on Sunday, 10th January throughout district. It has put target of 425,000 children in district and has set up 2,239 centres in district. It has urged all parents to bring their children below 5 years to nearest centre.

Chalisgaon college conducted Late Agrawal memorial state-level inter-college debating and Late Purnapatre memorial elocution competition ended yesterday with Dhule based colleges dominating in results. Banana cultivation drops in this season:

Unstable climatic conditions, sudden raining and cyclonic winds added with increased number of infections has changed farmers mind set in region. District's major banana producing zone Raver itself has witnessed reduction in banana cultivation by about 4,000 hectares in this season. Farmers have preferred to move to wheat, gram, White Onion as substitute crop.

Bhadgaon municipal council election on 14th February:
Jalgaon district administration has received State EC order to conduct Bhadgaon Municipal council election on 14th February and would initiate GR for the same on 12th January. Nomination process begins from 18th until 27th January followed by scrutiny on 28th and 03rd February as last date of withdrawal. Voting is on 14th followed by counting on 15th February.

06th January:
Sugarcane shortage woes sugar factories:

Khandesh regional sugar factories are facing harder times in this season to get adequate sugarcane to process and produce sugar. This has led to marketing applied by various other than territory factories to get sugarcane. Jalgaon and Nandurbar each have two while Dhule has one sugar factories functional. District's sugarcane cultivation has moved from 10,000 hectares in year 1990 to 17,400 hectares in recent years. It turned farmers most preferred cash crop in last few years. Recent two years have witnessed sharp decline in labour availability resulting in around 60% drop in overall produces.
Madhukar sugar factory Faizpur has processed 98,815 tonnes; Chopda factory has processed 35,000 tonnes of sugarcane by 31st December. Both factories are now focussing neighbouring areas sugarcane. Overall shortage would reduce and end this processing earlier to last year.

HSC exams from 23rd February:
Maharashtra State board for secondary and higher secondary education has announced conducting HSC exam from 23rd February until 19th March while SSC exam will be from 04th March until 19th March 2010. HSC practical, oral exams are from 03rd until 20th February while SSC practical, oral and written are from 10th until 26th February.

Muktai exhibition ends:
District rural development organisation conducted 4-days long Muktai exhibition ended yesterday with prize distribution ceremony. Event has wide participation of district's various small saving ladies groups. State taxing fiasco continues - now announces cess on stamp duty to recover Octroi deficit:

Maharashtra state government yesterday rolled its plan to post cess on stamp duty in Corporation areas to cover deficit of Octroi taxation replaced with cess tax. Introducing of two taxes to substitute one tax and no desires to avail State funds from VAT collection are clearly reflected from such decisions. Governments rather focusing mutual understandings on revenue distribution and growth patterns are putting mess by simply throwing their duties on the down line. As a result of this chaos taxation rather being simple to pay and execute have turned laborious and made every tax payer to prepare lot of papers and work around.

District wins 7 gold medals in National Karate competition:
Jalgaon sports Karate association girls team has won 7 gold and 2 bronze medals in sports karate federation of India and State unit conducted 14th National karate competition at Mumbai. Jalgaon yesterday recorded season's lowest in Maharashtra of 9.8 degrees. This has led to severe cold waves during morning and late night times. Neighbouring Dhule, Nashik had more temperature to that of Jalgaon.

Sub-urban areas citizens opposes government move to raise land valuation:
Government announcing rise in land valuation by 5-15% in urban and rural areas has evoked protest in citizens. This has given direct rise to franking duties involved in property registrations with Registrars. Disordered state of basic infrastructural resources, lack of continued electricity supplies, roads full of dust and alike numerous issues are yet to be focussed. This rate rise has made buying house dream for common man a difficulty and mere dream.
Governments focussed tax reforms as headers are mere paper pictures. Every citizen is marked with numerous complexions of taxing by local, district, state and central governments and that too in distributed manner. Take an instance of citizen having house in urban (Corporation/ Council) area. He is required to pay annual municipal house taxes along with State government's 'Shetsara' which he has no materialisation and even no understanding for which it is being charged with. Government's prime focus should be sync in taxation in local to national level governance and then introduce reforms to make them real reforms not the pain.

Bharat Krishak Samaj annual exhibition in Jalgaon from 07th January:
Bharat Krishak Samaj Jalgaon unit is organising its annual State level fifth 'Krishi Bharti' exhibition from 07th until 04th January. Event has support from State agricultural department, All India banana producers union and will have participation of various small savings groups and stall related to latest in agriculture.
Key highlights of the event include annual 'Krishi Gaurav' award distribution, agro film festival and farming processes.

District's 4 Agriculturist to receive 'Krishi Gaurav' from Bharat Krishak Samaj State unit:
State unit of Bharat Krishak Samaj has announced its annual awards for excellent services in agriculture field. Award distribution ceremony is on 08th January. It includes Vishram Kalu Patil (Undirkhede, Parola), Anil Bhokre (Deputy Director, Jalgaon), B. D. Jade (agriculturist Jalgaon) and Shailendra Chavan (Agrovan, Jalgaon).

District wins senior baseball competition:
Jalgaon district team has won fourth senior baseball competition played at Solapur. It defeated Kolhapur by 5-6, Satara by 0-7, Kolhapur by 3-5 to enter into knockout session and finally won on Nandurbar by 1-8, Mumbai sub-urban by 5-7 and Solapur - Jalgaon by 0-8 to enter in finals and win on Amravati by 1-3.

National convention in M. J. College:

M. J. College bio-technology department is conducting two days national convention in association with biotech research society of India(NMU branch) from 22nd January in Jalgaon on Advances in microbial biotechnology and inter-disciplinary approaches. Event will have participation of national level renowned faculty and dignitaries in the field.

Safer traffic week inaugurated:
District traffic police has inaugurated its 21st safer traffic week beginning from 01st January until 07th January. The weeklong event has wide spread awareness exhibition at traffic police office, head light painting, PUC check-up and training programmes for Rickshaw drivers. Practical approach and ability to implement regulations with transparency and focussing on infrastructural aspects to reach roots of traffic issues are a few of key challenges to department.

District association conducted Kho-Kho, table tennis competition from today:
Jalgaon district sports association is conducting district level Kho-Kho and table tennis competition in Jalgaon from today. The three days event has participation of various secondary schools in district. Award includes memento, certificate and Rs. 1,750 as first prize, Rs. 1,250 for runner, Rs. 1,000 for third and Rs. 500 for fourth along with trophy for all. Best team will receive Rs. 250 as special prize along with various individual prizes. Competition has various 8 categories for girls and boys.

State level debating competition at Chalisgaon:
Chalisgaon College is conducting Late Purnapatre memorial state-level inter-college elocution and Agrawal memorial state level debating competition on 07th and 08th January in Chalisgaon. Elocution competition has Gadge Baba - Science focussed saint, Swine flu - panic and measures, Corruption, TV and sociology and fake currency - dangerous to nation. Debating competition has Politicians party change - dangerous to democracy. Students with team of two of any college in Maharashtra and below 25 years of age can participate in the event. Competition has first prize of Rs. 2,000, Second prize of Rs. 1,500 and third prize of Rs. 1,251 and other consolation prizes and trophy.

Jalgaon gets new parent minister:
Maharashtra State Government has yesterday announced parent ministers for districts. Jalgaon's recently inducted State Minister Gulabrao Deokar has been appointed as Jalgaon's new parent minister. With this he now holds total of 9 ministries in State minister role and this has raised Jalgaonities expectations and hopes in this New Year. He has announced farming and agricultural sector as his highest priorities sector. Padmakar Valvi has been appointed as Nandurbar parent minister along with Abdul Sattar for Dhule.
District's expectation and long list of pending development works include getting special package funds of Rs. 1,100 Crores, taking banana and cotton farming related issues to State level and catalysing growth, setting up agricultural resource centre and rolling back district's various projections like Gul, Shelgaon barrage and alike issues.

State announced revised land valuations for Jalgaon:
Maharashtra State Government has announced Jalgaon urban and rural areas land government valuation rates for year 2010. Revised market rates assumed by Government has 5-8% rise marked in rural areas, 10% in urban areas and 15% in Corporation area. Government assumes this rate as basis for all its property related transactions and major implication of such increase would be rise in franking duty while property registration/ transfers.

Jalgaon witnesses 8% Lunar eclipse:
Jalgaon region witnessed blue moon effect based lunar eclipse yesterday midnight beginning at 12.12AM and ending at 1.24AM. Next such blue moon would be in 2012. Jalgaon had only 8% visibility of this eclipse.
Red Ribbon Express in Jalgaon district:
National Aids Control organisation and Rajiv Gandhi foundation jointly conducted AIDS awareness spreading Red Ribbon Express train is arriving in Jalgaon district at Amalner and Bhusawal railways stations. Train stays for two days each at Amalner on 04th and 05th January and at Bhusawal on 06th and 07th January. Train has wide presentations and informative on AIDS, spread control measures and alike means.

NMU youth festival ends in Shirpur:
North Maharashtra University's annual youth festival Yuvarang 2009 ended yesterday in Shirpur. M. J. College Jalgaon won The Champion of the Year Dr. Bendale moving trophy followed by Pratap College Amalner getting second and P. O. Nahata Bhusawal wining third rank. Festivity had 66 medals with 3 each for 22 various arts and skills performed.
