University Grant Commission New Delhi has selected Pratap College Amalner, P. O. Nahata College Bhusawal and Arts and Commerce College Shahada Colleges for “College with Potential for Excellence” award. Award has eligibility criteria like implementation of latest syllabus, offering amenities to students, basic infrastructural resources in college and education quality enhancement related measures.
Savda based banana processing centres closed since last 4 months:
Maharashtra State agricultural produces marketing committee and APEDA New Delhi jointly funded 5 Crores expenditure based Savda banana processing and facilitation centre is closed since November 2009. This centre has processed only 100 tonnes of banana and exported 5 containers by now. The private party operated leased basis centre failed to attract farmers to send their banana here for ripening and related processing. There is a strong need of continuing faith establishing period by running this centre and moving ahead to aside hurdles.
Khandoba festivity begins today in Faizpur:
Cultural , historical and political wisdom benefited Khandesh's Jejuri clone Faizpur Khandoba festivity is beginning on Sunday, 28th February. The three days long festivity begins every Falgun Shuddha Pornima and has large number of devotees' arrival. Festivity has key attraction of Fair and its Jalebi and Revdi are famous sweet dishes.
Khandoba Maharaj temple is located in western side of Faizpur city and was given by Gwalior King. Khandoba Maharaj is family deity of Leva Patidar community and hence this festivity witnesses large rush of community members for completing various religious and traditional processions.
Pachora ward 21 Bye-election on 11th April:
State EC has announced Pachora municipal council based ward-21 Bye-election on 11th April 2010. Seat has been vacated followed death of earlier councillor. Election code of conduct has come into effect from 24th February and has nomination filling from 15th until 22nd March, scrutiny on 23rd March, 30th March as last date of withdrawal and 31st march for sign distribution and voting on 11th April. This follows votes counting on 12th April 2010.
District's two farmers honoured in Delhi:
Jalgaon district based Vishwashrao Patil (Lohara, Pachora) and Sitaram Patil (Kharad, Chopda) have been listed and honoured amongst Nation's top 101 farmers by central agricultural department. The department has published a book ‘Harvestor of hope' covering 101 farmers from whole nation and their biography.
Medisports 2010 at district sports complex:
Indian medical association conducted annual sports activities 2010 begun yesterday. Event has various sporting activities in medical professionals largely doctors. It includes Carom, Chess, badminton and table tennis and it aims spreading health awareness.

Corporation roads development work halt:
Jalgaon city municipal Corporation initiated city main and link road
development work earlier begun with full pace have stopped again. Corporation
contractor has demanded due payment clearance to move ahead in this
regards as it owes 2.25 Crores from Corporation. City is witnessing
internal/ sub-link roads made for first time in last two decades. Even
though quality of roads is medium, it has given understanding of basic
need to administration and its ruling regime. Still city's main traffic
roads and Raj-Path are yet to be completed.
Corporation urges for citizen co-operation in Holi:
Jalgaon city municipal Corporation has urged citizens to co-operate
and convey illegal trees cut down during Holi festivity. It has availed

M. J. College wins two medals in State drama competition:
M. J. College Jalgaon team has won two medals in State drama competition
organised by State directorate of Cultural and youth affairs at Mumbai.
Team played 'Ahe Madan Tari
' artist Hemant Patil won best artist
silver medal along with Naresh Patil winning certification for excellent
performance. Competition has been won by Mumbai followed by Pune on
second rank and Mumbai second team winning third prize.

Cottonomics 2009-10 - District gets 600
Crores:
Jalgaon district has received around 600 Crores of
earnings by selling Cotton crop in this season. This
season's crop is about to end. Gujarat zone remained
major buyer with Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 3,150 per quintal
rate offering. District had around 20 Lakh quintals
of cotton crop in this season and around 5 Lakh quintals
is yet with farmers awaiting rate enhancement.
Banana rates dip down:
Jalgaon district banana producers have decreased banana
yield in last few days following lower and almost
down demand. Producers have now set post March-2010
period for next plucking. Northern Indian demand has
also fallen down considerably to 30-40 trucks a day
as compared to 200-300 trucks as normal outflow.
Chopda sugar factory ends this season's sugarcane
processing:
Chopda sugar factory has ended its year 2009-10 sugarcane
processing for this season. Factory's this season
processing continued for 110 days and had 66,975 tons
of process. It also produced 489,780 units of electricity
as bye-product of this processing along with 59,550
bags of sugar availing 9.86% yield.
Erandol municipal council budget:
Erandol municipal council general body met yesterday
to present and approve its annual budget 2010-11.
Administration presented its budget with 299,820 Surplus
and has total budget of 5.52 Crores. Council expects
around 1.49 Crores earnings from various taxes along
with 3.30 Crores government grants and has proposal
for various amenities to citizens. Major proposal
includes computerisation, setting up of public toilets,
creating market sheds in weekly market, buy waste
pickup van under waste management plans, and renovate
crematorium and other works.

Railways budget 2010 cheers Khandesh:
Railways budget 2010 has boosted Khandesh region's
hopes and rays of growth by offering assurance for
further work around on the requirements of region.
Budget has sent both Manmad - Indore and Amalner -
Dhule railway lines proposal to planning commission,
opening up of new railways hospital at Bhusawal for
Railway employees and citizens, starting up of new
train Bhusawal to Bilaspur and opening up OPD hospitals
at Chalisgaon, Devlali, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Nashik
Road, Manmad and Shegaon in Bhusawal division. Bhusawal
division based Badnera will have wagon workshop estimated
at 70 Crores.
District's rest of Taluka await Muhurat for sports
complexes:
Maharashtra State government plan to have sports complex
and stadium for various sporting activities encouragement
is still on papers. Apart from Jalgaon city based
sports complex, none other has yet been announced
and confirmed officially. MuktaiNagar, Raver, Amalner,
Bhadgaon and Yaval have received approval in 2003
but no work has yet started. Parola was added to this
list in last year with fund allocation but things
didn't realise here also.
Jalgaon Taluka 8 Acre land near Manyarkheda is still
in approval phase and would likely be discussed in
next meeting on 25th. Bhusawal council has availed
16 acres of land and estimated development cost is
8 Crores and is likely to be taken under golden package
for development. Chalisgaon is likely to get its agricultural
department being used reserved land wherein Erandol
has approved land near Anjani River. Rest Taluka have
discussions and tentative work around going on paper
yet.
Khandesh region's 11 candidates clear MPSC exam:
Khandesh region's 11 candidates have cleared MPSC
exam 2007 as per its results announced yesterday night.
Exam was for Deputy Police Superintendent, Deputy
RTO, Deputy CEO, Assistant Commissioner of Sales tax,
Finance and Account officer, deputy registrar, block
development officers and Tahsildar. List includes
Deepak Santosh Patil (DySP, native of Tarwade, Chalisgaon),
Kiran Madhav More (Deputy RTO, Chopda based), Dr.
Nitin Narayan Katekar (Dy CEO, native of Parola),
Kiran Deshmukh (Tahsildar, native of Chalisgaon, Kailash
Kashinath Mahajan (native of Waghli in Chalisgaon),
Samadhan Raghunath Mahajan (Tarwade Dhule) and Yogesh
Netankar all 3 for Asst. Sales tax commissioner, Kumudini

District administration enforces section 37(1)
and 37(3):
Jalgaon district administration has enforced Bombay
Police Act 1951 section 37(1) and 37(3) in Jalgaon
until 19th March 2010. This decision is amidst on
going HSC exam and festivity ahead. It also bans illegal
and alike supportive activities in exam centre areas.

Railways budget 2010 today - Region expects Jalgaon
- Udhna line doubling fund allocation:
Railways Budget 2010 is being presented today in Parliament.
Region has wider hopes with budget for allocation
of special fund for Jalgaon to Udhna railways line
doubling along with Manmad - Dhule - Indore railway
line approval. Jalgaon to Udhna is 306km railway line
and has 712.60 Crores allocation in 2007-08 and 14
Crores in 2009-10, but things didn't materialised
in practical. The proposed Manmad - Indore line has
Malegaon, Dhule, Shirpur, Nardana, Sendhva and other
stations having 350kms line. Amongst other demands
including initiating Mumbai train from Dhule and availing
Nagpur coach for Dhule travellers.
District's co-operative depositors to widen protest
measures:
Jalgaon district's co-operative depositor are conducting
a protest meet and rally on 08th March in Jalgaon.
This would have whole Khandesh region co-operative
depositors' presence and participation and would raise
demand for more funds from State to ease co-operative
deposits return panic. State has availed 9.50 Crores
by now for this co-operative woe.
Divisional Police Multi-speciality hospital inauguration
tomorrow:
Jalgaon district police human resource department
has setup multi-speciality hospital in police headquarters
area and this hospital would be inaugurated on Thursday,
25th February. This is Police department's only owned
hospital in Nashik division. It offers eye check,
sonography, X-ray auto scope, physiotherapist unit
and dentist unit. It would also get external expert
doctors consultation in various other diseases and
areas. Ceremony also has inauguration of 'Nabhangan'
Police Officer's Club.

HSC 2010 exam begins today:
Maharashtra State board of secondary and higher secondary
education board conducted H.S.C. 2010 exam is beginning
today throughout State. Exam would continue until
19th March 2010 and has around 82,000 students in
whole Khandesh. This includes 45,039 from Jalgaon
at 54 centres, 22,874 from Dhule at 39 centres and

NMU sports complex to receive 65 Lakhs State grant:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon sports complex
has received 65 Lakhs special grant from State Government
for construction and setting up of indoor plays unit.
Government has allocated Rs. 1 Crore grant in 2009-10.
Complex is estimated at 3.18 Crores cost and has received
75 Lakhs in 2008-09.
State level shooting ball competition at Jamner:
District shooting ball association is conducting two
days state level shooting ball competition at Eklavya
School ground Jamner from 27th February. Competition
attracts prizes worth Rs. 50,000 and has 24 teams
from five States and is on invitation basis only.
It has league basis matches in day and night mode.
M.J. College student Hrutuja Joshi selected for
National fencing competition:
M. J. College Jalgaon student Hrutuja Ulhas Josih
has been selected for All India Inter-University fencing
competition to be played in Chandigarh from 23rd until

Satpuda region's Holi celebration begins today:
Khandesh region's traditional charisma of Holi festivity
is beginning today with Bhongla Bazaar festivity.
This festivity is being organised at many remote and
tribe places of Satpuda hills and begins on first
Monday before Holi. Region celebrates Holi for five
consecutive days after Pornima and tribe community
have more of traditional values to Holi as compared
to Diwali.
Rain showering in Jalgaon city and Chalisgaon:
Jalgaon city and Chalisgaon witnessed rain showering
yesterday evening and today morning. Chalisgaon had
raining for around 30 minutes in Sunday evening at
7.30PM wherein Jalgaon had showering for around 2-5
minutes twice. Sudden raining and cloudy climate discomforted
week end life in region.
Jalgaon wins over Income Tax office in State cricket
competition:
Maharashtra Cricket association Pune organised super
league cricket competition yesterday witnessed Jalgaon
boys defeating Income tax team at Pune. This is Jalgaon's
second consecutive win in competition. Jalgaon players
Varun Deshpande and Ganesh Lohar both scored half
century in first inning wherein Dhaval Hemnani took
8 and Shashank Attarde took 7 wickets in the competition.
Income tax team scored 209 runs in 43 over in first
inning with 32 additional runs for slower bowling
from Jalgaon. In response Jalgaon boys scored 226
runs. This followed Income tax scoring 155 runs in
second inning and assigning target of 138 runs for
Jalgaon. Jalgaon scored 36 runs in 13 over at end
of competition and won by its score and inning lead.

Jalgaon city municipal corporation approves Budget
2010:
Jalgaon city municipal corporation has approved administration
proposed Annual Budget 2010-11 with minor updates.
It has approved water taxes doubling wherein it rejected
house taxes increase. The annual budget of Rs. 528.10
Crores has ambitious plan of offering daily drinking
water supplies to Jalgaon city with effect from 01st
April 2010. Body approved water tax doubling to 1,612
per year wherein cancelled house taxes and has also
approved development charges increase. It has quoted
to implement this project on trial basis for 3 months
and would continue the same seeing response. Other
highlights of budget include doubling of licensing
fees of municipal corporation owned land. Last year
budget was of 292.53 Crores and this year budget has
larger hopes from State and central aid.
SSC and HSC exam schedule announced:
State broad has announced schedule for SSC and HSC 2010 exams. SSC exam is from 04th until 29th March wherein HSC exam is from 23rd February until 19th March. There are around 50,000 students for both exams at 163 centres. This includes 113 centres for SSC and rest 50 for HSC.
Jalgaon's Anubhuti school wins Green School first prize:
Jalgaon based Jain group promoted Anubhuti school has won Centre for Science and Environment conducted Annual Green School competition first prize. Award criteria included best use of ecology, management and use of non-conventional methods to educate. This is third year of the school located in Jalgaon city's lush green Shirsoli zone in Jain hills.

Bodwad irrigation project gets environmental
clearance:
Ministry of Environment and forest Government of India
central panel has approved much awaited Bodwad irrigation
project estimated at around 1,500 Crores. The ambitious
project connets Bodwad in Jalgaon, Malkapur in Buldhana
districts agricultural belt and would benefit largely
to enhance irrigable area. This project is likely
to be inaugurated by hands of Her Excellency Pratibhatai
Patil during Jalgaon tour in April.
District demands for Railway budget 2010:
Jalgaon district having Central railway's Bhusawal
division in its fold has a feeling of always being
neglected on railways front. District has raised hopes
again with this upcoming railways budget and hope
that its representation on highest position of country
would benefit and get attention to its demand. Amongst
major demands include starting up of special Bhusawal
-Mumbai passenger train, increasing bogies in existing
Mumbai passenger, extending Devlali passenger until
Mumbai, availing stoppage of superfast trains in Jalgaon,
increasing Jalgaon quota for express trains reservation
by adding coaches, stoppage of Sachkhand andMahanagari
at Pachora and Chalisgaon and above all availing airy
wagons for banana shipment.
District having Bhusawal in its fold has not received
any special benefits as such. Pimprala railway crossing
over-bridge, full freights of incomplete wagons, implementing
model station amenities are still paper dreams for
region.
Corporation budget approval general body meeting
today:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation general body is
meeting today to discuss and approve administration
put Budget 2010-11. Standing committee has earlier
approved this budget with 150% house taxes and other
taxes hiked. Corporation employees demand of sixth
pay commission implementation would also be a matter
of discussion as standing committee rejected it and
employees have planned to go on stir against this.
Citizens await body discussion and balancing act to
fight with odds of no development and more of taxing.
Mixed climate discomforts living:
Jalgaon city and rest of district are witnessed change
of climate from cold to heating state. Morning and
late nights time is having coldness wherein afternoon
suddenly heats up. Heating effect in noon times and
mix up of morning chill has led to many cold, fever
and alike chronic diseases. Mercury has jumped up
to 33 degrees in afternoon.

Pratibhatai Patil to visit Jalgaon on
05th April:
Her Excellency President of India Pratibhatai Patil
is visiting Jalgaon on 05th April 2010. State and
concerned authorities have confirmed this tour. Major
attractions and plans for this tour would be inauguration
of 1,500 Crores expenditure Bodwad irrigation project
and Jalgaon Airport works formal inauguration. Her
last visit to Jalgaon on 08th February 2008 shined
whole region like Diwali celebration and was honoured
from all parts of society. Interesting to note was
wonderful and aligned approach of work in various
governmental agencies to complete various development
works like road and building projects which she was
likely to visit.
Savda municipal council budget 2010:
Savda municipal council administration presented its
annual budget 2010-11 yesterday. The 7.21 Crores budget
expects revenue collections to stream line and remain
steady and has surplus of 6 Lakhs. It has proposed
7.15 Crores expenditure in various services. Budget
has raised water taxes from Rs. 900 to 910 for residential
segment and to Rs. 8,200 from Rs. 4,200 for industrial/
commercial usage.
Sugarcane produces likely to grow in this season:
Last year shortage in sugarcane and good rates availability
has inspired farmers for more of cultivation in this
season. District agricultural department has reported
rise in cultivation of sugarcane to almost 50%. District
had around 15,000 hectares land under sugarcane cultivation
and last few years having labour shortage caused troubles
to farmers in picking and selling this yield to factories.
As a result, this count went down and last year had
severe shortage of crop to sugar factories and most
factories closed their processing before time. Farmers
received Rs. 2,100 per hectare rate in last season.
Most factories encouraged farmers in their areas by
offering additional values and support to cultivate.

State approves Police training centre
at Dhule:
Maharashtra State cabinet meeting has approved setting
up of new Police training centre at Dhule and has
also approved principally for setting of same centre
at Varangaon in Jalgaon district. State currently
has 8 training centres giving around 4,000 trained
policemen per year and this decision is seeing large
rise in count. Dhule centre is estimated at 1.20 Crores
and work would start shortly.
Accident woes - Jalgaonities demands highway parallel
service roads:
Jalgaon city has witnessed never alike whopping number
of road accidents in recent years. Increased traffic,
non-disciplined highway connections are making life
miserable and in panic. There have been two major
accidents in city in this week killing 3. Mumbai -
Nagpur Asian Highway AH-6 crosses from in between
city and has large incidences because of this. Recent
rise in vehicles in city added with no other option
to move through highways are a few issues demanding
serious attention. City has highway parallel service
roads option but none of road has been developed yet.
The dozing Corporation has not focussed on any of
such aspects and is trapped in its own financial woes
only.

week:
District's 6 various communities have organised youth
introduction meet in Jalgaon in coming days. This
include Vaishya Wani youth mandal organised meet on
21st February, Mali confederation meet on 21st February,
Parit (Dhobi) community meet on 23rd February, Bhoi
community meet on 25th April, Vinkar Koshti community
on 21st February and Maniyar community meet on 09th
May 2010.

Traders demands business friendly budget
2010:
Jalgaon district traders confederation met yesterday
to discuss on various needs and demands from Budget
2010. Amongst major concerned discussed were enhancing
limits of audit from existing 40 Lakhs set 25 years
ago. It also expects major changes in VAT audit compliances
and norms. State's recent and this whole year amendments
have made traders and tax payers life full of papers.
The E-drive led by State and Central Governments have
hiked cost of getting taxation work done rather easing
the burden. Moreover the e-filed data is demanded
by Government offices in paper form again. Government's
focus for this budget has to be enhancing communication
in its departments and branches rather making trader
pay for the same. Also every delay on trader part
has penalties wherein Government itself delays refunds
and processing for months.
Youth music festival in Jalgaon:
Chandorkar trust and Central-Southern cultural centre
are jointly conducting 3-days youth musical extravaganza
in Jalgaon at Gandhe Hall in Jalgaon from 19th February
2010 from 7PM onwards. Event has Miss Dhanshree Ghaisas
(Pune) singing, Nupoor Chandorkar (Jalgaon) Katthak
Play in association with Manoj Kulkarni and Dr. Aparna

Corporation announces JMTU services central bus
stand at Khwajamiya:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation general body has
approved earlier Khwajamiya slum location for central
bus stand. City bus service would now have its own
stand and this would help facilitate passengers. Corporation
has also announced starting up of Mahabal bus service
from 22nd February.

Bhadgaon municipal council results evokes
hung state:
Bhadgaon municipal council first ever election process
was completed yesterday with counting. Shivsena turned
as one of biggest parties winning 7 out of 18 seats
followed by NCP with 5, MNS with 2, independents winning
3 and Shahar Vikas Aghadhi getting one seat. Both
Congress-I and BJP failed to gain voters confidence.
Parties have now initiated their alliance formation
process to arrive at state to claim majority and form
government.
Raver and Yaval APMC election results:
Raver and Yaval agricultural produces marketing committees
vote counting process completed yesterday with BJP
and Shivsena alliance winning Yaval and Samta Panel
winning all 14 seats in Raver. BJP-Shivsena panel
won 10 out of 19 seats wherein NCP and Congress-I

71% voting recorded:
Bhadgaon municipal council's first ever election wonderful
response of voters yesterday. Administration has recorded
71.67% voting with no incidences for 17 seats at 28
polling booths. In all 17,299 voters out of 24,137
exercised their voting right. Vote counting is being
done today in two phases beginning at 10AM. Most of
wards have one to one and few have triangular fights.
Symbiosis College wins moot court competition:
S. S. Maniyar Law College Jalgaon conducted National
moot court competition ended yesterday with Pune based
symbiosis college team winning team prize. Delhi University

Jalgaon boys defeated Solapur team in MCA conducted
open category state level super league cricket competition.

Jalgaon district is witnessing increasing number of
swine flu cases. Civil hospital yesterday reported
5 swine flu likely cases and has sent samples to Pune
lab for evaluation. This has raised total count to
10 swine flu patients.
Sudden rain showering in district:
Jalgaon district's many areas witnessed sudden rain
showering yesterday evening beginning at 7.30PM. Sudden
raining led to chill in climate later. Farmers expressed
panic on sudden rain amidst Rubby season cultivation
in pace. Region has cloudy atmosphere since morning
and mercury was also settling in lowers. Raining continued
for around 15-20 minutes and disrupted electricity
in many locations.
Land acquisition's 350+ cases pending in Jalgaon:
Jalgaon district administration and its various counterpart
agencies have around 350+ land acquisition compensation
cases pending. This includes Hatnur, Waghur and various
medium, small scale irrigation and dam related projects.
State has to pay around 40 Crores with interest for
this. This due includes 10 Crores principal amount
and rest in interest due to delays.
Corporation City bus service to be extended to
11 new routes:
Jalgaon city municipal Corporation's private party
based JMTU city bus service is surveying city's other
11 routes to extend further. This includes neighbouring
villages and places like Sakegaon, Kanalda - Nandra,
Dambhurni, Paldhi along with Sambhaji Nagar, Mohadi
Road, Mehrun and Bhusawal road areas. JMTU is yet
to find its central bus stand (CBS) to operate services

State calls for queries/ questions on Cess:
Jalgaon city municipal corporation wide its notice
in daily newspapers has announced implementation of
cess tax replacing Octroi with effect from 01st April
2010 as per State order. State earlier published this
in its GR on 01st January 2010 and would take further
consideration on process operation on or after 15th
February 2010. GR further urges citizens in all 16
D-Category municipal corporations to raise their questions/
objections (if any) to State Urban development ministry
by this date. Detailed implementation and tax process
has been posted on Corporation notice board also.
District's 118 villages water polluted:
District soil water development and survey organisation
has reported 118 villages water as polluted and unsuitable
for drinking purposes. ZP has initiated various plans
to enhance quality of water here. Sample survey had
118 villages having 100% polluted water, 658 villages/
places having more or less polluted quality of water.
This report has now gone to ZP for further assessment.

committee meeting on Budget:
Jalgaon city municipal Corporation standing committee
met yesterday to discuss and approve Budget 2010-11.
Body has partially reduced tax rates and has unanimously
disapproved 06th pay commission for Corporation employees.
Proposed tax rates are 25% general taxes (administration
approved 40%), water tax at 1,612 (2,418), cleanliness
at 8% (10%), road tax – 3% (10%), special cleanliness
tax – 4% (10%), waste management – 4%
(10%), tree plantation – 1% (1%) and special
tax on heighted buildings – 5% (10%). New budgetary
approvals would inflate theatres and entertainment
related events with tripling of taxes. Corporation
annual budget proposed was of 496.66 Crores.

Jalgaon civil hospital has confirmed another swine flu positive patient yesterday. This has raised total count to 8, which includes 4 in this month itself. Last patient reported was on 04th February.

Dondaicha to get State's second 'Energy Hub' status:
Dondaicha in Dhule district has received approval
of third set of thermal power production unit. Once
this set is activated it would generate 3,300MW electricity,
second highest after Chandrapur. Proposed third set
will have 5 sets each to produce 500MW electricity.
State government has initiated land acquisition process
for the same. Paras based new extension has been moved
to Bhusawal for 660MW capacity. State Electricity
Company expects order processing in 2010 and full
activation of these systems by 2014.

Jalgaon airport project waits for environmental clearance:
Jalgaon city's much awaited Airport project
is in process of getting environmental clearance certificate.
The airport area of 16kms fencing and boundary wall
tender has already been approved and work would start
soon. Airport authority of India tender awardee has
to complete this project in 2 years span. Environmental
related hearing has already been completed and report
has gone for final approval.
AAI has proposed daily two outbound flights from Jalgaon
airport which would be Jalgaon – Pune, Jalgaon
– Nagpur and Jalgaon – Delhi via Mumbai.
This would get final approval shape based on start-up
and passenger's response. This estimation has
been done on basis of likely use of Jalgaon airport
by Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, Buldhana, Burhanpur
and Khandwa districts. Project ‘Bhoomi-Poojan'
and formal work inauguration is likely expected by
March. Jalgaonities have demanded this inauguration
through hands of Her Excellency Pratibhtai Patil.
Corporation budget taxation hikes pain citizens:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation yesterday presented Annual budget 2010-11 having doubling/ tripling of various taxes has triggered rage in citizens. Most of taxes announced are of Corporation with A category wherein amenities are of D category Corporation. State has categorised Jalgaon Corporation has D-Category along with 15 other Corporations. Yesterday's any of tax announcements do not match with its counterpart Corporations. Citizens along with opposition parties have demanded review with practical assessment of situation and facilities being offered.

Corporation annual budget 2010 - Taxing multiplied
with no visionary approach:
Jalgaon city municipal corporation administration
presented its annual budget 2010-11 yesterday to standing
committee. Key highlights of budget are almost doubling
of house taxes, cleanliness and waste management along
with tripling of water taxes. It avails special fund
of Rs. 5 Crores to industrial area to settle its rage
on opposing township formation. It has allocated Rs.
12 Crores for sixth pay commission for employees.
Other plans include taking general taxes to 40% of
taxable value of land from existing 10%, water taxes
at Rs. 2,418 to current Rs. 806 per year, additional
10% tax on large buildings and introducing water meters.
Budget has no plans or ambitions on boosting city's'
overall trade, industrial growth and tourism facilities.
District administration plans ambitious tourism
development action plan:
Inspired by Khandesh region response to Khandesh Mahotsav,
Jalgaon district administration has made an ambitious
action plan to boost tourism in Jalgaon district.
It has already begun survey through private agency
and would submit report by March end for the same.
Khandesh package had Rs. 7 Crores allocation in next
3 years for the tourism section but it has not been
yet received.
Administration plan is at approx. 50 Crores and has
Unapdev, patna, Farkande, Mahsve (Parola), Pal, Velhale
(Bhusawal), Changdev, Kothali, Rameshwar (Jalgaon),
Tondapur (Jamner) and Lasur (Chopda) based pilgrimage
places along with Mangrul, Mor and Manudevi based

Tapi irrigation development Corporation having Khandesh region's all Tapi
River related irrigation projects has a total of 56 projects to be completed
in next 3 years in 324 Crores fund. State earlier announced special fund of around
1,500 Crores for Khandesh region's various pending and on-going irrigation
projects but has allocated mere 324 Crores through budget. This has troubled
various projects that include Amalner Taluka based projects.
This list includes 22 from Jalgaon, 15 from Dhule and 14 from Nandurbar and 5
from Nashik district to be completed in 3 years span. Plan had proposed allocation
of 324 Crores for first year and has availed only 50 Crores by now. It proposes
488 Crores for 2010-11 and 481.55 Crores in 2011-12. Region's equal political
push would be needed to get this fund and works in pace.
Zambre school and Shah School win Challenge trophy day-1 matches:
District cricket association conducted under-16 inter-school competition inaugural
day yesterday witnessed Zambre school and Shah School Shahada winning their respective
group matches. Today's matches include Shah School versus Chavra English
Medium Dhule, Kuber High School Shahada versus R. C. Patel Shirpur.

Corporation annual budget on Friday:
Jalgaon city municipal corporation administration
would present its annual budget in front of standing
committee on Friday. This year's budget is likely
to have taxes hikes and few new taxes put in to force
following lowered state of financials and enhancing
revenue collections amidst Octroi tax being phased
out from 01st April.
Amalner APMC election - hung results to race political
heat:
Amalner APMC election votes counting result arrived
yesterday. BJP - Shivsena promoted Pragati panel won
8 seats while Congress-NCP promoted Aghadi panel won
9 seats and rest 2 went to businessmen fighting individually.
Result has triggered political heat with both groups
claiming to rule through support of these two candidates.
Congress-NCP got 9 seats include one non-voting rights
member equalising both sides. Clear picture would
be available only after final announcements.
JDCC bank initiates steps for drift irrigation
loan waiver process:
Jalgaon district's apex co-operative bank JDCC Bank
has initiated its process to follow State announced
drift irrigation loan waiver for farmers. JDCC Bank
has 48.21 Crores Loan principal Amount due with farmers
for this scheme through co-operative societies. Bank
has completed process with 15 out of 25 societies
by now and total due is 125.42 Crores. State has waived
78 Crores interest in this loan and bank would receive
only principal amount of this due outstanding.
Challenge trophy inter-school cricket competition:
District cricket association and Jain sports academy
conducted third divisional Under-16 inter-school cricket
competition is beginning today at Police parade ground.
Competition has Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar based
70 schools participating in league matches. It would
qualify 6 teams and then semis and finals. Today's
inaugural matches include Zambre School versus Nandurbar
Kuber high School and St. Teresa versus U. K. Shah
Shahada. Competition attracts trophies and individual
awards.

Khandesh Mahotsav 2010 ends with appeal
to preserve tradition:
Khandesh region's first ever social extravaganza Khandesh
Mahotsav 2010 has ended yesterday in Jalgaon with
overflowing and huge public response. Event concluding
ceremony had State tourism minister and musical Gazal
show by Pankaj Udhas. Festivity reflected living culture
and traditional values of Khandesh and offered a platform
to new generation talent to demonstrate their skills.
Yesterday conducted half marathon also witnessed good
response and participation. Shyam Pawar Jalgaon, Sarika
Bhoi and Raju Sonawane won men's, women's and seniors
category in the event. Earlier conducted body building
competition also had 231 participants in various categories.
District administration has announced conducting Khandesh
Mahotsav 2011 on 20th January and setting up memorial
and preserving historic achievements through Rs. 50
Crores action plan. Turning this action plan to reality
and speedy implementation are challenges for administration.
Banana rates shoot up by 140 Rupees:
Decreased chill in weather and lower yield available
has raised banana rates by 140 Rupees per quintal
in last trading sessions. It touched Rs. 692 per quintal
yesterday.
Amalner APMC election - 97% voting:
Amalner agricultural produces marketing committee
witnessed enthusiastic participation of voters yesterday
and recorded 97.47% voting with 3,248 out of 3,332
voters. Votes counting process would be conducted
today.
Pune wins Women wrestling competition at Dhule:
11th State level women wrestling competition ended
yesterday at Dhule with Pune marking dominating performance
in all categories and making it fifth consecutive
victory. Host Dhule and Jalgaon failed to mark victory.
Jain academy wins MLA trophy cricket competition:
Jalgaon based Jain academy has won MLA trophy cricket
competition conducted at Pachora. It defated Pachora
Gymkhana team in finals. Gymkhana bat first and scored
122 runs and in response Jalgaon team achieved this
target in 24 over. This included Ganesh Lohar chipping
41, Varun Deshpande scoring 22 and Shrirang Kapse
scoring 20.
