31st March:
District administration to start voter photo identity card on taluka
levels:
Jalgaon district administration has sent proposal to state election
commission for opening up of taluka based voter's photo identity card
centers. This will benefit region's voters having missed administration's
drive for photo identity cards and avail convenience to get it done.
Administration has conducted this drive in Chopda, Amalner and Bhusawal
and soon at Parola.
Hanuman Rath festivity in Jalgaon:
Lord Hanuman fellow Mandal is conducting Hanuman Rath festivity from
13th until 20th April in Jalgaon city. This festivity would be alike
Rath festivity conducted on eve of Ram Navami. Festivity also has
aim of 13 Crores enchanting of "Jay Shree Ram". Rath would
pass through city's whole area and has various religious program on
the eve.
30th March:
Corporation general body meeting on water supplies issue review:
Jalgaon city municipal corporation general body met yesterday to discuss
on water supplies woes in Jalgaon city. Meet had discussion on various
aspects including availing daily water supplies. General body has
availed special privileges to Commissioner to take all possible measures
to end water supplies woes. Body has empowered Commissioner to finalise
on awarding tenders up to Rs. 25 Lakhs on water supply works.
Body also discussed conversion of older fire fighter tanks into water
supplies tanks, removing dense dirt in Mehrun Lake. Administration
is in plans to avail daily drinking water supplies to city from mid
April based on Waghur water testing and availability.
District administration gets 3 Crores fund for completion of final
phase works of Waghur:
Tapi Irrigation Development Corporation has paid Rs. 3 Crores fund
to District administration towards minerals and natural resources
charges as utilized from administration for various works. Earlier
district administration stopped works at Waghur dam on accounts of
this due of 81 Lakhs in Waghur dam works.
Chalisgaon and Jamner Taluka's 6 villages on tanker water supply:
Jalgaon district administration has received proposal to start tanker
based water supplies to 6 villages in Chalisgaon and Jamner taluka.
This includes Pimpri bk, Talegaon, Rohini, Waghari and Khadki from
Chalisgaon along with Waghari from Jamner. Both Taluka's few village's
area already using this tanker based water supplies.
Banana railway wagons restart today:
Jalgaon district banana producers and railway administration tussle
on wagon cancellation charges have ended up and producers are beginning
wagon transporting from today. Today Raver, Savda and Nimbhora Railway
stations are packing up 84 wagons of banana. This restarting up of
outflow of banana has raised its rates by 11 Rupees to 541 Rupees
per quintal.
Producers have agreed to railways demand of paying empty wagons sent
with penal charges and have deposited the same to continue using the
same service. Wagon transporting halted for period of more than 3
months yielding no favorable results from producers end on levying
earlier flat penalty charges to that of full wagon freight and penal
charges.
29th March:
Jalgaon milk union to have NDDB administration until 2015:
Maharashtra State Government has approved continuation of NDDB administration
on Jalgaon milk union until 2015. Union has received order in this
regards. This decision has spread joy amidst milk producing unions
and small savings groups as union's milk collections reached new highs
during the period.
Khandesh's 25,000 hectares sugarcane lying:
Sugar factories have started lately in whole region following delays
in governmental part in offering guarantee rates for sugar. This factor
along with increase in productivity has now led to hopping 25,000
hectares based sugarcane crop still in farms. Khandesh region's 8
sugar factories have 58,072 hectares under sugarcane cultivation and
25,540 hectares of this cultivation is still remaining unutilised.
Sugar factories in region have shown their interest in continuing
sugarcane processing until May end to utilize this crop. Madhukar
Faizpur has processed 356,315 tones of sugarcane in 137 days of this
season. Vasant Kasoda run by Gangamai has processed 93,000 tones along
with Belganga processing 209,080 tones in 133 days.
28th March:
Corporation starts Waghur dam supplies in some part of city:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation has started water supplies from
Waghur dam in Sindhi Colony, Ganesh Nagar and Dhake Wadi areas. It
is yet testing and evaluating various aspects of daily water supplies
and normalizing supplies in many inner areas of city.
District council (ZP) Budget 2008-09 presented:
Jalgaon district council (ZP) administration yesterday presented its
16 Crores surplus budget for year 2008-09. The finance committee has
approved this budget while opposition has protested the budget marking
no special provisions for agricultural and irrigation sector.
The committee has approved revised exact budget of 2007-08 at 12 Crores
16 Lakhs 90,000. The year 2008-09 budget has provisions of 52.38 Lakhs
for members, 2.65 Crores towards remuneration to ZP administration
and team, 43 Lakhs towards telephony expenses, 1.80 Lakhs towards
education. Budget has provisions of 76.17 Lakhs for social welfare,
38.09 Lakhs for women welfare, 76.17 Lakhs for rural water supply,
85 Lakhs for construction works, 1 Lakhs towards depreciation, 25
Lakhs for irrigation and lakes, 30 lakhs for health, 30 Lakhs for
agriculture, 16 Lakhs for animal husbandry and 10 Lakhs for tree conservation.
62 Panchayat Head and deputy election process announced:
District Administration has announced schedule for election of head
and deputy of all 62 newly elected panchayat committees. The process
begins on 20th April and continues until 31st May and would be conducted
in taluka wise manner.
Jalgaon District co-operative bank (JDCC) sends circular relating
to loan waiver:
JDCC Bank has sent circular urging member societies to collect farmer
information in prescribed format to avail loan waiver benefit. Last
date of filling details is 20th April. The circular has clear mention
of waiver benefit to societies having offered crop/ farmer loans until
31st March 2007, outstanding dues until 31st December 2007 and loans
not repaid until 29th February 2008.
27th March:
Reasons to rejoice - Seasonal grains arrive in hefty quantity:
Jalgaon district is all set to record highest produces of rubby seasonal
grains, Jwar and other crops. District agricultural produces committee
is witnessing around 10,000 quintals per day arrival of grains in
market yard. Agricultural authorities estimate around 15 Lakhs quintal
grains this year to that of 8 Lakhs in last season with per hectare
productivity of 30 quintals.
Administration has availed five releases of Girana dam water for crops
and as a result Amalner, Parola, Dharangaon, Erandol, Bhadgaon and
Chalisgaon taluka. In all 33,052 hectares area is under grains cultivation
in this season.
Banana wagon transporting to start from Sunday:
Raver taluka banana producing union has announced starting up of railway
banana wagon transporting from Sunday. This wagon transport went down
three months back following tussle between producers and Railways
on account of penalty charges levied for cancellation.
Producers have deposited Rs. 1.85 Lakhs in Delhi towards 10 empty
wagons sent back. This will reinstate Raver, Savda and Nimbhora stations
wagon sending process. Producers will have to take 84 wagons as fixed
earlier.
Jamner Municipal Council election update:
District Election authorities have started process of distributing
signs to Jamner council candidates. There are 31 polling booths for
20 wards and votes' counting is at I.T.I. on Jalgaon road through
electronic voting machines.
District representation meets CM on Jalgaon Milk Union issue:
A group of all political Parties presentation has met State CM and
urged to keep Jalgaon Milk Union under N.D.D.B administration. N.D.
D. B. administration tenure is ending on 31st March and state is yet
to announce its decision for the same.
26th March:
Dam water availability review:
Whole Khandesh region is likely to face another intense summer ahead.
District's two major dam Girana and Hatnur have adequate water availability
and this is likely to benefit this season's crop. Medium sized projects
like Mangrul, Suki also have sufficient stock. Agnavati and Tondapur
have no water availability. Manyad - 19%, Bori - 11%, Bhokarbari -
42%, Ambhora - 58%, Bahula - 2% and Mor - 62%.
Jamner Municipal Council to witness triangular fights:
Jamner Municipal Council now has 76 candidates in fray for 20 wards
election. In all 10 out of 86 candidates withdraw their nominations
on last day. Final ward wise figures suggest triangular fight between
BJP, Congress and NCP. Shivsena, MNS, BSP and other parties have declared
separate candidature for wards have withdrawn nominations.
Dharangaon taluka Court inauguration on Sunday:
District authorities are conducting inaugural ceremony of Dharangaon
taluka Court opening on Sunday. The court has been set up at Chopda
road based earlier school. Court will start its proceedings right
from the day. This has now taken number of Courts statistics in Jalgaon
to 45. This will also divert around 3,000 cases currently running
in Erandol court and speed up process.
Parola Municipal Council water supply closed on account of outstanding:
Girana Irrigation department has decided to close down water supply
of Parola Municipal Council on account of huge outstanding of 18 Lakhs
towards water supplies. Parola gets water from Bori dam and has no
other alternative for water supplies. Pachora also has dues of 10
Lakhs and is likely to face same action on account of March ending.
Jalgaon wins in state level open cricket competition:
Jalgaon has defeated Pune in MCA conducted Inter-district open cricket
competition on basis of first inning lead of 66 runs. Jalgaon scored
439 runs in 80.1 over with Javed scoring 122 and Ganesh scoring 105
and Kiran scoring 46 runs. Pune scored 313 runs with Ninad taking
6 wickets. Jalgaon has now scored 13 points until now and will play
two more matches to enter in to Super rounds.
25th March:
MLA funds 9 Crores lying unutilised:
District Planning and Development committee has reported MLA fund's
9 Crores still lying untilised. ZP receives around 70 Crores fund
in various forms from DPDC for various developmental works. Until
now developmental works expenditure utilized includes 94% in irrigation
works, 68% in backward tribes. Lying funds include road development,
water supplies, computers for schools, small bridges works, drainage
systems, equipments for gym etc.
Corporation general body meeting on Water supplies issue on Saturday:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation is conducting a special general
body meeting on Saturday to discuss on current water supplies issues
and decide on policies to tackle with it. This is first time in Corporation
history that it is conducting a special meeting on water supplies
woes.
Meanwhile amongst other updates, corporation yesterday conducted auction
of 47 properties and received 17 house taxes outstanding dues. Auction
had mere Re. 1 value and was taken by Corporation itself. It has also
announced levying of double taxes for non-permitted constructions
in city.
Jamner Municipal Council elections - Nomination withdrawal last
day today:
Today is last day of withdrawing nominations in Jamner Municipal Council
election. Until now authorities have received 86 applications for
20 ward election. This include 20 each candidates from BJP, NCP, Congress
I and 5 from MNS.
Jhipru Anna festivity on 29th May:
Nashirabad's rural deity Jhipru Anna Maharaj 59th memorial festivity
is on 29th May and temple trust has organized various activities right
from 26th May. This includes Bhagwat reading, food donation, Besan-Bhakri
Prasadam etc. Please refer temple trust for detailed information thereof.
24th March:
Cess - Another form of pinching trades by taxing:
State Government's recently announced introduction of Cess Tax as
a replacement to Octroi tax in D category Corporations has been termed
as pincher by businesses confederation. The Cess tax collection process
followed by scrutiny is biggest hurdle in smooth conducting of trade.
The Corporation acts turn a trader to pay Cess if its turnover exceeds
specific limit as set by Corporation. It also requires mandatory registration
with Corporation followed by declaration of Godown. It does not allow
refunds of tax on sales made outside city limits and has High Court
as only appealing authority.
Trader associations have commented on this as anti-trade favoring
system and would reduce business volume in the city and add to panic
of overall system. Hence confederation has decided to go against this
Cess and make all possible protest to scrap this new tax as well.
Tarsod Ganesha festivity on eve of Angarika Chaturthi:
Tarsod Ganpati temple is having festivity on eve of Angarika Chaturthi
tomorrow on Tuesday, 25th March. Festivity includes Maha-Arti, Havan,
and other processions.
Rain showering in entire district:
Whole Jalgaon district witnessed showery raining on Saturday midnight.
This sudden raining reduced heat and has caused damages to standing
crop to some extent.
23rd and 22nd March:
Jamner Municipal Council - Issues this season:
The caste based vote bank triggering poisonous factor has started
showing its effects in Jamner Municipal Council election. The social
inequality recently thrown in form of reservations has started demonstrating
toxic results. Most of ward based candidates are chosen based on statistics
of respective ward caste structure. Jamner city has 20 wards and main
political parties are BJP, NCP and Congress I. Election nominated
candidates includes new faces and existing leaders. On public front
development, water supply and new industries are key issues.
ZP budgetary meeting on 27th March:
Jalgaon district council (ZP) is conducting its Budget special meeting
on 27th March. State has recently amended budget presentation aspects
and has mandated surplus budgets presentation to every ZP. This is
second budget in BJP-Shivsena majority run ZP. ZP reserves 20% funds
for rural water supply supplies, 10% to women and children welfare
and rest 20% for representatives. Rest 50% funds include 5% depreciation,
20% towards honorarium to members, office bearers and fuel costs and
rest 25% includes department wise funds allocation. ZP availed 10
Crores for departmental projects last year.
Jalgaon Milk Union transfer issue:
The NDDB administered Jalgaon District Co-operative Milk Producer
Union's transfer is due in next 10 days as its tenure is ending on
31st March. State Government is yet to approve the NDDB submitted
draft plan leading to confusion amidst district milk producers on
likely next charge of Union.
District primary milk producer unions and small savings groups have
also urged for keeping NDDB administration on account of hefty profitable
performance and upbeat growth. NDDB took over JMU charge in 1994-95
and has 2 Lakh liters per day milk collection as of now with 33,000
tones cattle feed production capacity.
NMU languages department to receive 6 Lakhs:
North Maharashtra University languages department project 'Globalising
Indian Spiritual - A study of Indian Saint Poet' has received University
grant commission grant of Rs. 6.66 Lakhs for this year. It has earlier
received 2.57 Lakhs aid for Comparative study of critical theory in
Marathi and English.

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation completes 5 years:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation was established on 21st March 2003
and has completed 5 years of hardest tenure ever. Basic and infrastructural
facilities challenges, financial debts and join political and administrative
efforts to boost growth remained key challenges to ruling and administrative
body here.
Future challenges and abilities to get good Center and State funds
and balanced growth with support to business and industries to help
region's youth nurture and come of depression are biggest challenges
and works to do.
District businesses confederation raises protest against Octroi
replacement Cess:
Jalgaon district businesses confederation has marked strong protest
against State Government's proposed replacement of Octroi tax by Cess
stating that this Cess tax would be more painful than Octroi. It has
demanded no new tax levy to Octroi as State is already earning hefty
amount from VAT tax.
The confederation is planning to conduct meeting of all 15 D category
Corporation businesses associations to fight against this Cess. It
has also demanded State funding to Corporations through VAT tax revenues
as per RBI directives rather taxing and harassing common traders.
Khandesh gets 50 Lakhs to fight against water shortages:
Khandesh region has received 50.49 Lakhs fund from State to fight
against drinking water shortage during intense summer season. The
Nashik division has sent request of 63.50 Lakhs fund to fight with
this shortage. Jalgaon raised demands of 40.81 Lakhs and has received
mere 28.27 Lakhs to tackle water shortage in its rural areas. Dhule
has received its requested 2.08 Lakhs fund along with Nandurbar receiving
37,000 and Nagar receiving 12.17 Lakhs.
District's 8 Co-operative societies transferred to Nagpur based
society:
State Co-operative Department has confirmed request of transferring
Jalgaon district's 8 financial sick co-operative societies to Nagpur
based Ujjwal Nirmal Co-operative Society. This will transfer liabilities
of 32.40 Crores of these societies to Ujjwal and would significantly
help depositors to get back their deposits. Department has ordered
this transfer process completion by 31st March. Authorities are yet
to disclose names of these societies.
Bhusawal wins State level leather ball cricket competition at
Parola:
Bhusawal team has defeated Dhule in final rounds of State level leather
ball cricket competition conducted in Parola. Team won by 7 Wickets
and 11 over in hand and won Cash Prize of Rs. 7,777. The 12-days long
competition had various teams from throughout State.
Dhule got bowled out on mere 83 runs in 24 over and had panic at 48/9
when its last batsman managed to get considerable total. In reply
Bhusawal scored 84 runs in 14 over. Jalgaon and Pachora teams won
joint third prize as both team had difficulties in getting their full
teams to play match.
Sajid Kureshi wins Body building competition:
Rex Gym Bhusawal wrestler Sajid Kureshi has won Jalgaon Shree 2008
body building competition first prize. Sunil Bhosale won Best Poser
while Nitin Dhangare Varangaon won Best Most Improved award. Competition
had participation of 87 body builders and had 0-55KG, 56-60Kg, 61-65Kg
and above 65Kg category competition.
20th March:
Hip-Hip Hurray: State Budget scraps Octroi in Jalgaon:
Year 2008 marks glorious development turnaround times for Khandesh
region. Central Government presented Budget 2008 had special mentions
of Jalgaon availing 5 years tax holiday for setting up 3/ 5 star hotels
in Jalgaon district. This year's State Budget also has special mention
of Jalgaon on two topics.
This budget has proposed development of Jalgaon Airport in year 2008
and has also replaced Octroi tax by Entry based Cess in all D-Category
Municipal Corporations in State. This would benefit Jalgaon, Dhule
Corporations termed in this category. As a result Jalgaon and Dhule
Octroi will discontinue with effect from its current tender ending
period in June mid. Budget has also allocated special funds for setting
up new power plant in Deep Nagar to cope up with electricity issues.
Hire Medical College Dhule has received special fund of Rs. 4 Crores
93 Lakhs for upgrading its medical facilities. Announcement of four-lane
express highway would also benefit Jalgaon development.
NMU present its 5.06 Crores deficit Annual Budget:
North Maharashtra University Administration has presented its annual
budget 2008-09. Budget has estimated expenditure of 63 Crores 90 Lakhs
33,000 and estimated 5 Crores 6 Lakhs 40,000 deficit in this year.
It estimates 58 Crores 83 Lakhs 93,000 earnings by various fees and
charges.
This budget proposes special funds of Rs. 50 Lakhs for SAP ERP software
system, 20 Lakhs for teachers, 20 Lakhs for Science, 50 Lakhs for
Wind, Solar, and Electricity Generators, 3 Lakhs towards consultancy
charges by experts, 30 Lakhs for moving laboratory, 2 Lakhs for Village
adoption scheme. It has estimated 22,987 students eligible for proposed
E-facilities.
Amongst other provisions include Rs. 2 Lakhs for ISO, 2.5 Lakhs for
Day care centre, 2.5 Lakhs for College developments, Rs. 300 scholarship
for best sportsperson, 4.50 Lakhs for personality development scheme,
Consumer store for students, 3 Lakhs financial aid under Ambedkar
financial aid scheme, 10 Lakhs for Chanakya Competitive exams guidance,
12 Lakhs under Bhaurao Patil Earn and Learn scheme, 6 Lakhs for annual
youth festival, 1.75 Crores for construction of 320 students hostel,
1.50 Crores for Teacher Bhavan, 20 Lakhs for administrative building,
2 Lakhs for student councils at College level and 15 Lakhs for various
employee welfare schemes.
Gandhli - Village of successful political profile:
Gandhli (Amalner) is a village that reflects live results of principles
and hard work. Gandhi is native village of region's Ex-MP Bhausaheb

Jamner Municipal Council elections - 146 nominations received:
Administration has received a total of 146 nominations until last
date of nomination filling. Tuesday, 25th March is last day of withdrawing
nominations and election is on 07th April. This is second election
for Jamner council.
19th March:
Corporation Budget special General body meeting today:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation is conducting its Budget 2008-09
special general Body meeting today. The year 2008-09 Budget of 253.94
Crores was earlier approved by standing committee. The committee has
suggested reduction of general taxes by 5% and adjusts this in new
taxes to be levied. Administration expects 42-45 Crores House taxes
earnings.
Khandesh MLA meeting at Mumbai review:
Khandesh MLA meeting yesterday had two hours discussion on various
developmental aspects of entire region. Meet had unanimously arrived
at demand of special provisions of funds in State Budget for various
irrigation projects, reserving 191.40MLT water in Tapi, initiating
joint efforts for start up of seven irrigation projects in Khandesh.
It has also planned to meet Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil and urge
for special funds of 6,000 Crores for various irrigation projects
in Tapi region and setting up of Khandesh area development council.
Village Panchayat election result shocks established leaders:
District Village Panchayat undergoing voting on Sunday had counting
yesterday. Being electronic voting machines based polling, results
came in 2 hours. Amalner has new faces winning, Adavad has Independent
candidate, Congress has won Shendurni and Pahur Peth in Jamner taluka
and NCP has won Shahpur seat.
Erandol taluka had 5 Panchayat in this election. Many existing leaders
lost their positions and new faces have replaced them.
Aurangabad-Jalna Rural bank opens Jalgaon branch today:
Vidarbha region leading rural Bank Aurangabad - Jalna Rural Bank is
opening up its Jalgaon branch today in Ganesh Colony area. This bank
has 50% stake of Centre, 15% of State and 35% of Bank of Maharashtra
stake. Head quartered in Aurangabad, bank has 55 branches and Jalgaon
branch would have ATM and full facilities. It plans to open 10 branches
in Jalgaon district.
Jalgaon's 14 swimmers shine in State competition:
State amateur swimming association Mumbai conducted sank rock to Gateway
of India swimming competition had district's 14 swimmers showing wonderful
performance. This includes Kalpesh Sonawane (1.10 hours), Vivek Ashok
Jagdale (1.12 hours), Aishwarya Jagdane (1.13hours) all in 10-13 years
age group, Sagar Sonawane (46 minutes), Aditya Oak (48 minutes), Aditya
Kulkarni (50 minutes), Ankit Badgujar (54 minutes), Kanchan Chaudhari
(56 minutes), Pragya Chandankar (58 minutes) all in 13-16 age group
and Jaydeep Sonawane (47 minutes) and Nandkishor Patil (1.02 hours)
in open category.
18th March:
NMU Budget 2008-09 on 19th March:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon is presenting its Annual Budget
2008-09 on 19th March. Reports suggest announcement of 125 more professional
and career oriented course in its education portfolio. It has plans
to introduce online admissions from upcoming academic year. It has
made a provision of new hostel for boys and girls estimated at Rs.
50 Lakhs and 30 Lakhs respectively. This year budget is likely to
have good provisions for sports oriented programs.
Balanced reasonable fees, good student services, placement opportunities,
encouraging research oriented education and stop increasing commercialization
are a few of challenges NMU has to tackle with to upstream its brand
in global horizon.
Village Panchayat votes counting today:
Jalgaon district's 62 village panchayat undergoing election on Sunday
has votes counting today at respective Tahsil office. Jamner is expected
to give clear results by afternoon as it has largest number of Panchayat
in this election. All panchayat had E.V.M. polling this time.
Corporation standing committee meeting review:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation standing committee met yesterday
to discuss 19 various topics on its agenda. It has unanimously approved
availing rights of sanctions and payments for works until Rs. 10 Lakhs
to current Corporation Commissioner. This decision came amidst disputes
raised in earlier water supplies related works started in city.
Khandesh MLA to meet in Mumbai today:
North Maharashtra region's MLA are meeting today in Mumbai to discuss
various prolonged development issues in the region. This includes
about to end irrigation projects, immediate need of State funds to
finish off various projects, proposing Special honor of State Government
on approving Manmad - Malegaon - Dhule - Indore Railway line project.

Village Panchayat voting completes peacefully:
Jalgaon district's 63 village panchayat undergoing voting yesterday
had recorded smooth polling process. Vote counting is on 18th March

Summer heat continues to intensify:
Jalgaon city and entire district area is witnessing continuous increase
in temperature during afternoon times. Jalgaon city had 39 degrees
temperature yesterday on maximum and 18.5 degree Celsius in night.
Increasing heat has raised signs of harsh summer times ahead.
Increasing heat has led to significant lowering of water levels. Administration
has availed adequate water from Girana dam for irrigation in this
season. Hatnur dam has 57.55% storage, Girana has 32.68%, Manyad has
22.06%, Bori has 17.48%, Bhokarbari - 44.74%, Suki - 61.26%, Ambhora
- 69.42%, Mangrul - 87% and Bahula has 3.02% water storage as of yesterday.
Voting process for 63 Panchayat begins:
Election polling process has begun at Jalgaon district's 63 village
Panchayat at 209 booths. Around 119,000 voters are exercising their
voting today from 8AM until 5PM using electronic voting machines.
Administration gets building for setting up Court at Dharangaon:
District Court authorities have taken Chopda road based School of
deaf and dumb students building to set up Court at Dharangaon. Administration
yesterday made a formal inauguration of process by setting up 'Kalash
Poojan' of this building.
ZP returns back 5 Crores of funds under Slum rehabilitation scheme:
Jalgaon district council (ZP) has returned funds of Rs. 5 Crores availed
by State Government under backward and slum areas rehabilitation scheme.
District planning and Development committee proposed civic facilities
in these slums could achieve only 57% of proposed works. Administration
has blamed tighter norms in scheme as major caused non-ability to
utilize funds.
DPDC has proposed 25.98 Crores fund in district budget under special
schemes and ZP has expedited 14.82 Crores and 10 Crores on social
services. Electrification works have reached mere 21% of proposed
works.
Jalgaon takes lead of 55 runs over Sangli in State Cricket competition:
Jalgaon team has taken a lead of 55 runs on Sangli in MCA conducted
State cricket competition played at Nashik. Jalgaon scored 188 runs
in its inning and bowled away Sangli at 133 runs. It has now scored

District's 63 Village Panchayats undergo election on Sunday:
Jalgaon district's 63 village Panchayat from 13 taluka are undergoing
term elections and bye-elections at some places. Administration has
made adequate measures for smooth conduct of entire process.
This include 54 Panchayat having term ending in April until July 2008
along with 11having bye-elections. Administration has availed 450
electronic voting machines for voting at 209 booths having 115,590
voters in term elections and 3,527 in bye-elections. Jalgaon taluka

Banana rates continue to drop:
Banana's sudden lowering demand has resulted in continuous fall of
rates in this week. It has dropped by another 80 Rs. per quintal taking
rates to Rs. 530 per quintal. Earlier rates touched 685/- per quintal
on 11th March following good demand from Northern India.

District's 9 villages on tanker supply:
Summer woes have begun for Jalgaon district. District's 9 villages
have turned to tanker supply for their drinking water needs. Tahsil
offices have started acquisition of private wells to smoothen the
supply. Administration has availed Rs. 28 Lakhs fund to tackle with
this acute shortage.
Prof. Sadhna Nikam receives International Award:
Chalisgaon based Biology teacher Prof. Sadhna Shyamkant Nikam has
received Hari Anant International Award for her research paper on

Farmer suicide cases review:
Jalgaon district special committee formed to aid families of farmers
doing suicide has received 224 cases by now. Administration has received
4 reports of new suicides after farmer debt waiver announcement. This
committee has availed a relief aid to 114 out of these applicants

Corporation general body meeting review:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation General body meeting yesterday
had various discussions on its agenda. Administration has conveyed
body of daily water supply in Jalgaon city after final testing of
Waghur dam water linking to pumping station. Body has approved 17
out of 18 topics in its agenda. This also includes inviting State
CM and Irrigation minister for inauguration of Waghur dam. Administration
is also in preparatory stages for Pimprala railway crossing overhead
bridge as approved by Railways in this budget. Body has unanimously

Suryodaya Mandal has announced its annual literary award. This includes
Dhule's senior Author and 'Kavita-Rati' Editor Prof. Purushottam Patil

6,500 hectares sugarcane lying uncut in Chopda Sugar factory region:
Chopda taluka has huge sugarcane plantation in this season. The delayed
processing in sugar factory has led to availability of sugarcane in
large amount in the whole region. Factory is offering 560 per quintal
rate this year to that of 900 per quintal last year and 1,130 in 2005-06.

Raver Assembly constituency formation work begins:
District Administration has sent details of pilot form of proposed
Raver constituency for upcoming Assembly and Parliamentary elections.
State has notified this change in its GR on 31st July. Administration
has now started plan for formation of Jalgaon city and rural constituencies
and is likely to announce final electoral by 30th April 2008.
Rubby season grains arrival increases:
Jalgaon district agricultural produces marketing committee is witnessing
good arrival of rubby season. There is significant arrival of wheat,
jwar, bajra and other seasonal produces. This arrival has not affected
prices and rates are still stable.
Corporation plans for International category Cricket Stadium:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has planned for setting up International
Cricket Stadium in Jalgaon in its 12 Acres land in Shirsoli area.
The decision came amidst newly setup Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sports
complex in Jalgaon. The stadium has no facility for cricket playing.
Corporation plans to avail this land to District Cricket Association
and the same organisation would develop this stadium from its parent
State Association. This topic has been proposed by Corporation Planning
committee in today's general body meeting.
District Taekwondo association gets Sports directorate approval:
State Sports and youth services directorate has approved Jalgaon district
Taekwondo association and Gurukrupa Cultural Mandal Shirud (Amalner),
Tarun Bharat Public Gym and Sports Mandal Yaval under State Sports
council scheme. This would facilitate these associations to get sports
amenities and aids through district sports office.

ZP avails Rs. 90 Lakhs for road works in District:
Jalgaon district council (ZP) has availed Rs. 90 Lakhs funds for 4
taluka road repairs and development works. This includes Chopda -
Gartad Road - 19.90 Lakhs, Ichkheda - Waghjhira Road - 25 Lakhs, Shevale
- Shindad - 20 Lakhs, Muktai temple works - 23.80 Lakhs.
Varangaon Factory and Mahrishi Sangh wins:
Parola taluka Cricket association conducted State level leather ball
cricket competition yesterday had Amalner taluka team and Varangaon
Factory teams winning their respective group matches. Mahrishi Club
and Ajay Sports Jalgaon made their winning entry on inaugural day.
Amalner defeated Patonda team while Varangaon factory team won over

District administration and State Airport Development Company has
announced speedy processing of Jalgaon airport development works.
Company's officers are arriving in Jalgaon in next week to review.
Meeting would also have district farmers land acquisition and/ or

District sports federation established:
Jalgaon district's various sports association have came together to
establish Jalgaon district Sports federation. The federation aims
at enhancing overall sporting facilities and amenities in district.
Meeting has appointed 5 member's committee to form its resolutions.
It has unanimously approved stir against district administration's
slowing process for availing 25 marks for sports students, getting
whole control of newly setup district sports complex, availing positions

SSC exam begins from Tuesday:
District 51,379 regular and 7,587 repeater students are appearing
for SSC Exam 2008 beginning from Tuesday, 11th March. There are 124
exam centers in district of which 17 have been declared as sensitive.
Non Intrest Rs. 126.46 Crores lying with JDCC Bank:
Jalgaon District's apex co-operative bank JDCC Bank has whopping amount
of 126.46 Crores lying in form of share capital of various small/
medium member organisations having farmers as its share holders. All
financial institutions deduct 10% of loan amounts as share capital
during availing fresh loans.
Seeing last few years weakening state of co-operative institutions,
many of these co-operatives have stopped paying dividends and as a
result this huge amount of farmers hard earning is lying with JDCC
without Intrest payments.
District table tennis competition:
Second District rated table tennis competition ended yesterday had
various competitions in different categories. Venya Singhal, Shubhendu
Kulkarni, Harshid Shrivastav, Mansi Patil have won six years, 8 years
and 10 years age group boys and girls competition respectively. In
12/14/17 year's age group Chinmay Atravalkar, Falguni Zambre, Sanket
Bhole, Shridhar Tripathi and Roshni Ahirrao have won competition.

Banana gets Rs. 620 per quintal rate:
Jalgaon district farmers and banana producers have a reason to rejoice.
Banana rates have hiked and touched Rs. 620 per quintal mark following
good demand from northern India. Currently these producers are using
road transportation as a means of sending banana to rest of Country.
Rates have risen by 115 per quintal in last week.
District Sports federation likely formation meeting today:
Jalgaon district's various sports associations are having a joint
meeting today to discuss possibilities on formation of Jalgaon District
Sports federation. Major aims in establishing federation is facilitating
sportsmen in academics, availing resources to participate in various
national and international sports events. It also plans to implement
various Directorate of Sports and youth services Pune and State Sports
Council projects along with State Olympics association guidance. Jalgaon
district has around 45 to 50 sports associations in various sporting
activities.
The federation would also enact as coordinating authority for various
state, national, university-level, organizational level sports. It
also plans to fight against District administration's proposed heavy
charges for use of district sports complex and is in ready state to

Banana producers to get Rs. 10,000 per hectare compensation:
District Parent Minister has conveyed State Cabinet decision to avail
Rs. 10,000 per hectare grant to banana producing farmers having faced
cyclonic winds, snowing and sudden climatic changes in last year.
Last year Raver and Yaval Taluka's around 10,000 acre farm land cultivated
banana got damaged following lightning and other natural calamities.
Farmers await official confirmation on this regards yet.
Kapileshwar festivity in Amalner:
Kapileshwar temple's annual festivity is a unique sign of rich traditional
heritage of region. Temple is located in Amalner in Jalgaon district
and festivity is observed in Dhule district's Shirpur and Shindkheda
taluka as temple has trustees in combination from both districts.
Kapileshwar is located on boundaries of Jalgaon and Dhule districts

District association has announced Jalgaon team to participate in
State level two-day "Maharashtra Shree" body building competition

Maharashtra traders are again at high times with State's differentiated
and short termed taxation rates differing policies. District Tea traders
association has demanded continuation of 4% VAT tax on tea to that
of proposed 12.5% from 01st April 2008. State Government has been
extending 4% tax rates for every 6 months since last 3 cycles and
fails to find visionary approach to stabilize trading systems.

Jalgaon district banana producers having stopped banana wagons through
railways 3 months back are likely to restart the same by 13th March.
Railway Station banana producers have confirmed this and still await

penalty for cancellation of wagons by producers and these producers

CCI stops cotton buying in Jalgaon region:
State sponsored Cotton buying from CCI has ended in Jalgaon following
lowest response. Reports estimates record buying of around 50 Lakh
quintals by private parties. Government buying was at 2,030 per quintal
wherein private buyers bought from 2,500 until 2,900 depending on
quality and availability. Private buying still continues amidst lower
availability of crop.
Mercury touches 39 degrees in Bhusawal:
Bhusawal city's hard times have begun with mercury continuing to intensify
with summer arrival. Bhusawal city had 39.5 degree Celsius on maximum

Jalgaon city likely to get alternative day water through Waghur:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has finally announced connecting
of Jalgaon city water supply Girana Pumping station with Waghur dam.
It plans to avail alternate day water after successful test of this
waters supply. Jalgaon city is currently having supply from Girana
dam and gets 2/ 3 days alternate water supply. It has already tested
water filtration plant in Waghur River to Girana pumping station.
It is now going to have 30MLD water every day from this dam. It further
plans to complete fifth stage works of Waghur dam and plans to avail
water amidst summer.

Jalgaon district council standing committee met on 29th February to
discuss various issues on its agenda. It has approved Parola Panchayat

Savda Municipal Council budget:
Savda Municipal Council has presented its annual budget for 2008-09
with 6 Crores 72 Lakhs expenditure and 2.87 Lakhs surplus. It has
made provisions for various developmental works and has planned to
introduce many new taxes. It has provision for new roads, gutters,
toilets, new electricity poles, hospitals, medicines, water purification
etc. Administration expects 4.04 Crores earning from various property
taxes, water supply taxes, shop taxes and developmental charges.
State level leather ball cricket competition from Friday at Parola:
Parola taluka Cricket Academy is conducting State-level Leather Ball
Cricket competition from 07th March at Shri Krishna Colon Ground on
Chorwad Road. Competition has total prize money of 28,000 and last
date of filling request is 05th March. First Prize is Rs. 11,111,

up hotels in Jalgaon:
Central Government Budget 2008 has come up as a bundle of joy for
Jalgaon region. Budget has special package offering 5-years tax holidays
for setting up 2/3/4 start hotel in UNESCO notified world heritage
sites districts. Jalgaon for first time has turned lucky to be included
in this list with special mention in Finance Bill 2008.
This would attract and set landmark path for arrival of mega hotel(s)
chains being setup in Jalgaon to facilitate foreign and Indian Tourists
inflow for Ajanta and other tourist places in Jalgaon district.
Sports associations tussle with district sports authority on availing
25 marks for shining athletes:
Jalgaon district's various sports associations have demanded immediate
attention from district administration on allocation of 25 marks in
S.S.C. and H.S.C. exams for outstanding athletes and sportspersons
in Jalgaon. District's various sports and related associations are
making a protest March on Sports Authority office in Collectorate
on Monday, 03rd March.
These marks could be utilized either in any of short fall subject
or a part in various subjects based on sportsman student performance.
It has eligibility of student having been participated in State/ National
competition. Sports authority has to send proposal every year to respective
department through directorate of youth services. Protesting associations
and individuals include State Sports council members, District Kabbadi
Association, State fencing association Vice-President, State Softball

Muktai festivity begins on Monday:
Khandesh and Vidarbha region renowned faith Shree Saint Muktai annual
festivity is beginning in MuktaiNagar from Monday, 03rd March. Administration

New Muktai temple, Changdev and Mehun for buses. The four days festivity

Village Panchayat elections: 430 applications for 24 villages'
156 seats:
Amalner and Chopda taluka having 24 Village Panchayat undergoing elections
for 156 seats have received 430 nominations by yesterday evening.
Yesterday was last day of filling nominations. This includes 180 applications
for 73 seats in Amalner. Erandol Tahsil office has received 169 applications
for 6 village panchayat.
Drinking water woes amidst summer arrival: Administration avails
28.57 Lakhs:
Summer arrival has sounded it's beguile with district's around 350
villages likely to feel and some already feeling drinking water shortage.
District administration has availed a special fund of 28 Lakhs 57
Thousands to district council (ZP) to initiate suitable measures to
control panic. It has estimated water shortage for period from October-07
until June-2008 and proposes a total of 2.90 Crores fund for depth
increase in well, acquire boats and private well, Tanker, water supply
through bullock-cart, avail temporary water supply lines and other
special measures.
Air force recruitment drive from 15th March:
Air force is conducting a recruitment drive for State youth at Jalgaon's
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sports complex from 15th March until 28th
March. It would have non-technical recruitments on 15th and technical
trades from 17th March for written exams. Candidates having passed
12th with above 50% marks and Science stream can apply for technical
trades while other branch passed candidates could apply for non-technical

Budget 2008 review meet - Farmers oriented, Common men benefiting,
neutral of Businesses and Industrial:
Annual Budget 2008 has spread joy and cheer amongst farmers and has
equally benefited Education, farming sector with various packages
offered. Budget has neutral to very low benefits for industrial and
business growth. Income tax limits raised, special offers of lower
interest rates for crop loans, interest repayments, irrigation and
establishment of water irrigation and management finance Corporation
remained a few of key highlights for the budget 2008.
Khandesh region has 627,512 farmers in all. This includes 411,202
farmers having lesser lands (that qualifies for this loan waiver).
This scheme will benefit farmers by nullifying their 7/12 papers of
land. This includes 229,220 farmers from Jalgaon, 68,664 farmers from
Dhule and 113,318 farmers from Nandurbar districts. JDCC Bank has
176,742 farmers having taken 244.65 Crores of loans. This includes
92,654 farmers regularly paying their dues.
Pachora Municipal Council Budget:
Pachora Municipal Council presented its 48 Lakhs surplus budget yesterday.
Administration has prepared 16.63 Crores annual budget. Budget has
1 Crore for UIDST based water supply, 70 Lakhs for roads, 30 Lakhs
for gutters and cleanliness workers, 50 Lakhs for housing projects,
slum rehabilitation schemes at 25 Lakhs and 30 Lakhs for public sanitation
systems. It also proposes 10 Lakhs for gym, 34 Lakhs for Vermi-compost
based plant, 24 Lakhs for Gardens and 54 Lakhs for street lights on
city based highways. It proposes hiking of taxes on new constructions
and open plots to adjust its earning side.
