31st January:
Asoda (Jalgaon): A village of great
literary icon - Nature-daughter Bahinabai:
Asoda is a native village of
nature-daughter Bahinabai Chaudhari having amazed everyone with her special style
of rural verses. Jalgaon is her In-Laws place. She was born on Nag-Panchami in
1880. Her verses collection published lately in 1952 with name 'Bahinabaichya
Gani' and achieved hall of Marathi literary fame. Her collection largely focuses
on human mind, people in villages, relationships, farming, festivity, traditions,
faith and deity. Asoda now has her memorial setup in Chaudhari Wada and her idol
was setup in 1993 opposite to their house.
Asoda is also native village of
great freedom fighter Late D. G. Kale and twelve Balutedar. Major farming crops
here are cotton and brinjal. It has Leva Patidar community as largest community
along with Maratha, Koli, Mali and other communities. Ancient times Khanderav
Maharaj temple and pyramid established during 1700 are also one of key places
to visit along with a century-old Lord Rama temple, Hanuman temple and other temples
and mosques.
President to visit Blind school as well:
Her Excellency
President of India Pratibhatai Patil would also visit School for Blinds located
in Sindhi Colony area of city. District administration has received confirmation
in this regards. This school was setup by Shrama Sadhana Trust Bombay founded
by her. President House has denied physical inauguration of District sports complex
(stadium) and has allowed inauguration at Police Parade ground only. District
administration has now announced Remote control based inauguration along with
5-minutes short pictorial review of district stadium on projectors.
Jalgaon
tour would begin at 10.25AM from President House and would land at Aurangabad
Airport through Army Aero plane. They would land at Kusumba Airport at 12.45PM
through special Helicopter from Aurangabad. Tour continues further with rest at
Government rest House and she would stay in Jalgaon city throughout the day. Events
for the day include visit at School for blinds, attend grand public honor ceremony,
and inaugurate Waghur dam and District Sports complex at same location and night
stay in Jalgaon.
Second day tour begins with visit to MuktaiNagar through
special helicopter and visits at Muktai temple at MuktaiNagar and Muktai Darshanam
at Kothali and return back to Jalgaon in same evening and stay in Jalgaon. Helicopter
would then take to Aurangabad on 10th morning at 10AM. State CM is also arriving
in Jalgaon on 08th February for a short tour.
District's 27 schools
to get financial aid from State:
State Government has announced availing
multi-step financial aid for schools in district's non-tribes areas running V
to X classes. This decision is benefiting Jalgaon's 27 schools with 20% aid from
05th year of their establishment and 100% from 09th year of establishment. District
education office would avail this grant to schools.
Chandrapur wins Deepnagar
sports competition:
Bhusawal Thermal Power Station conducted Sports competition
ended yesterday in simple ceremony with Chandrapur winning indoor competition.
Competition had a tragic heart-attack death of Nashik player. Event had Badminton,
Table tennis, bridge, carom, chess and wrestling.
30th
January:
Electricity woes intensify - Zero Load in many areas:
Jalgaon
district in hurting state of electricity resources following suddenly increased
load shedding and zero load Schedule. Both urban and rural areas now have additional
1.30 to 2 hours load shedding and many areas even having zero load. The electricity
distribution Company has notified lowered supply as key reason for this shedding.
Cold waves moves away - Mercury settles:
Entire Jalgaon region
having witnessing cold waves since last week had a sign of relief yesterday. The
cold waves have moved away from the region and mercury has settled now. Jalgaon
city yesterday had 7.8 degree Celsius temperature recorded.
Pratik Patil
wins Aditya trophy chess competition:
Jalgaon's junior chess hero Pratik
Patil has won State-level Aditya Trophy Chess competition conducted in Jalgaon
by scoring 9 points in 9 rounds. Atul Dahale Parbhani won second with Amardeep
Tiwari winning third rank. Host Jalgaon district has won 5 awards in this competition.
Competition had 16 district's 125 chess players participating.
First prize
comprises of Rs. 5,001 Cash and Mundada memorial trophy. Victory also includes
Raunak Mehta, Milind Shirode Varangaon, Tejas Tayade and Pravin Somani is in top-10
players in this competition. It had open, under-8 and under-10 category matches.
Corporation
prepares Silver memento for gifting to President:
Jalgaon City Municipal
Corporation is in process of finalising Silver memento having clone of Corporation
17-story building to be gifted to President. The 13 inches high memento has 6kilograms
of silver used and has imprint of President, Mahatma Gandhi on left and Sardar
Patel on right side. Same styled memento in small size would be gifted to State
Chief Minister and Deputy CM. Corporation has also prepared Invitation cards to
be distributed in each and every house in city for this ceremony.
29th January:
Four lane express
highway - Need for increased traffic:
Jalgaon has National Highway# 6 crossing
from within city. This highway has huge daily traffic heavy motor vehicles and
does links Mumbai to Nagpur. Highway authorities are still to get final node to
initiate their processes for four lane highway. The multi-phased four-lane work
began from Bhivandi in first phase and second phase from Malegaon to Dhule. Next
phase has Eklagna to MuktaiNagar four lanes work proposal sent to Central government
for final approval. Authorities are yet to receive final confirmation for go ahead
in this phase.
The Khote Nagar to Khedi highway road has large number of accidents
reported in last few years and there has been a continued demand to have a bypass
for this highway.
I.M.R. conducted National conference on 'Smart Organisation
- A global perspective':
Institute of Management and Research Jalgaon is
conducting a day national conference on 'Smart Organisation - A Global perspective'
on 30th January in Jalgaon. Conference has expert lectures from various dignitaries
in Management field and paper presentation. Event has marketing, finance, human
resource management, information technology and general management related lecture.

team announced for State cricket competition:
District Cricket association
has announced its team for upcoming under-19 state cricket competition. The open
category team includes Ranaji Trophy players Sandeep Dahad and Jitendra Patil.
IMR athletes selected for Inter-university competition:
I.M.R.
students Sachin Iccharam Patil and Lalit Narendra Sanap have been selected for
Inter-university swimming competition. Sachin would participate in 100 meters
free style while Lalit will participate in 100 meters back stroke and 4x400 meters
relay categories. Competition is from 18th until 22nd February at Tiruanantpuram
in Kerala.

Helipad and Dias works in full pace:
Presidential
tour has thrown never-seen energy in governmental machinery in Jalgaon. The whole
district areas where they are expected to visit are witnessing 24x7 works in progresses.
Amongst this includes preparations of 5 Helipads at existing Jalgaon Airport land.
The State P.W.D. is preparing 3 kilometers wide airstrip as well. Corporation
has war-level work going on for preparation of stage for proposed mega honor ceremony.
Interesting
works like plantation in dividers, watering these plants, repairing and extending
roads are in full pace. The DSP Bungalow Chowk having Government Guest House where
Taisaheb is proposed to stay remains one of top designated area. This Chowk has
all-new revamp including road height adjustment, new dividers, decorative and
stylish art work on all 4 boundaries and centrally designed symbolism for literary
contribution. The Government guest house has been totally re-constructed with
special consideration of VVIP level personalities stay.
Continuity in work
pace and good understanding of rapid changes in societal structures and infrastructural
demands along with good pumping of funds from State and Central Authorities are
a few factors to be witnessed post-President visit.
Jalgaon Airport
issue - Administration announces per hectare for land:
District administration
has announced per hectare land rates for proposed land requirement for Jalgaon
airport development. It has announced base rate of 490,000 per hectare and has
urged farmers to go ahead to speed up airport work. Meanwhile farmers are still
adhering to 5 Lakh Rupees per acre.
Rates include Rs. 4.90 Lakhs to open land,
Rs. 7.35 Lakhs to semi-farmed/ cultivated land and Rs. 9.85 Lakhs per hectare
for fully cultivated land. It has also proposed availing additional rates for
existing trees, well and fruit plants.
Pachora Ward#21 bye-election:
Administration
has received 7 applications as of now for Ward#21 bye-election. Last date of filling
nominations is 29th and voting is on 10th February followed by counting on 11th
February. This ward was vacated due to death of a councilor last year.
Chopda
Sugar factory achieves 1.11 Lakhs tones of sugarcane processing:
The Chopda
co-operative sugar factory having started its boiler delayed by a month has achieved
1 Lakh 11 thousand 340 tones of sugarcane processing. Factory has received 6 Lakh
tones of sugarcane as of now and is processing 2,800-3,000 metric tones. It is
currently providing sugar levels of 11.32% and average sugar levels of 14.42%
as of now.
Maharashtra Talent Search Exam - District's 51,000 candidates
participate:
Maharashtra Talent Search Exam conducted yesterday throughout
district had around 51,000 students participated. Authorities set up one center
at each taluka in district.

Jalgaon
Airport Development - District administration avails 2 days time to farmers:
District
administration has availed special offer of 60-70% increase in government land
buying rates to Nashirabad and Kusumba farmers having land near Jalgaon Airport.
Administration has availed two days time to revert back on this. Earlier State
airport development Company planned to acquire 245 hectares of land for this airport
development. The nearby zone has land owned by 20-25 farmers from Nashirabad and
Kusumba.
Railway cancelled wagon freight issue:
Central Railways
Bhusawal divisional authorities are yet to receive central Authorities letter
for cancellation of its levied cancellation charges on wagon. This has led to
anguish amongst banana producing and as a result they are yet to restart their
banana shipment through railways. The issue arose on 13th December when producers
cancelled this shipment following no demands.

crop protection Authorities proposes Rs. 50,000 per hectare aid for district banana
farmers:
Central crop protection authorities having visited Jalgaon's banana
farms to study infection on banana has recommended availing Rs. 50,000 per hectare
special aid to farmers. The primary report submitted by this department has taken
grounds of Kerala banana farms having faced Uritofied in banana farms. District's
32,000 hectares under banana cultivation has faced infection causing losses of
agricultural produces worth Rs. 250 Crores.
Cold waves intensify - Mercury
continues to drop:
Jalgaon city, Bhusawal and all nearby regions continue
to witness frosting cold waves throughout the day. Jalgaon city yesterday had
6 degrees while always heating Bhusawal had 8 degrees on scale. This has led to
high magnitude cold waves breezes throughout the day.
Belganga Sugar
factory to get Rs. 6 Crores loan:
Chalisgaon Taluka's farmer breath Belganga
would soon get Rs. 6 Crores special loan to rejuvenate its productivity and processes
and enhance working capital. Factory is planning pledge its sugar production to
JDCC Bank as counter guarantee. Factory has 65,000 sugar bags lying in stock.
Bank has made 9 conditions for availing this loan that includes no use of
this fund in sugarcane repayments and capital expenditure and has allowed use
for off-season expenditure, machinery repairs, salaries, electricity, water taxes
and other related advances. This loan has to be repaid by 30th June 2008 and has
14% per annum rate of interest and in case of non-payments and outstanding, interest
rate would be 1% additional charge.
Bhavarlal Jain honored with Padmashree
Award:
Jain Group of Industries founder Chairman Bhavarlal Jain has been
honored with Padmashree Award for this year for his excellent services in the
field of Agricultural science. This is for first time that Jalgaon citizen has
been honored with Nation's highest services award.
25th January:
Mercury
dips further to State lowest 6.5 degree Celsius:
Jalgaon city yesterday
witnessed State's lowest temperature making entire region chilling and under cold
waves. City has recorded temperature of 6.5 degree Celsius and the cold wave remained
throughout the day.
Bank employees on strike today:
United forum
of bank unions has announced nationwide strike today. This strike includes National,
private and multi-national bank employees from 60 banks around the Country. Today's
strike follows republic day holiday and Sunday. Strike is as a protest measure
towards Government's negligence in attending sharp cuts in jobs in banks along
with filling of vacant posts.
Yaval Council begins various developmental
works:
Yaval Municipal council has begun various developmental works in
city. This includes completion of its shopping complex and city town hall, renovating
its own building under 12th finance commission with a budget of Rs. 65 Lakhs.
Council is planning to introduce 3 vehicles under waste management and availing
water supply through electricity generated from this biogas generating plant.

administration speed up photo identity cards issue process:
Jalgaon district
administration has speed up its process to issue photo identity cards to 1.27
Lakh voters having not received their cards. Electoral identity cards process
now has 14 digital camera holders and is in process at Yaval and would begin at
Raver and MuktaiNagar from 28th January. This exercise is a part for upcoming
assembly and parliamentary elections.
24th January:
Mercury
dips down significantly:
Entire Jalgaon district is witness cold wave since
yesterday morning. This has lead to significant drop in mercury scale and morning
temperature has fallen below 10 degree centigrade.
State approves naming
district stadium with "King Chhatrapati Shivaji":
Maharashtra
State Government has approves district administration request for naming District
Stadium as "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja District Sports Complex". District
administration has received fax in this regards. Earlier Corporation owned this
space for stadium and had named it in Shivaji Maharaja. Later this was transferred
to state for building stadium through district administration.

School wins District Kho-Kho Competition:
R. R. School Jalgaon has won
district level Kho-Kho competition in both boys and girls category by defeating
Rashtriya School Chalisgaon boys and Palaskheda School girls. Siddhi Vinayak School
and Mahajan School Dhanora won third prize in respective category. Competition
ended yesterday.
23rd
January:
Presidential tour revamps MuktaiNagar:
Her Excellency Pratibhatai
Patil is visiting Jalgaon district on 08th and 09th February. Her visit includes
a day tour to MuktaiNagar on 09th February and visit Mehun, Kothli and MuktaiNagar.
She is also visiting Saint Muktai temple for Darshanam. This has led to concreting
of complete zone roads, repairs to temple.
This surprise gift and most importantly
bureaucracy at 24x7 works has led to pleasant moments for entire Taluka. Changdev
to Mehun 5kms road was damaged since last 20 years and region people had left
their hopes. This visit announcement led to complete revamp and extension of this
road.
ZP sanctions 31 Lakhs for school repair works:
Jalgaon District
Council special fund of Rs. 31 Lakhs for repair works of various ZP owned school
in district. Jalgaon district is now on 12th rank throughout State in implementing
Education for All Drive. The fund is a part of sanction from MPSP for repairs
and renovating existing schools.
Jalgaon wins State karate competition:
Jalgaon district team has won Mayor Trophy State karate competition conducted
in Jalgaon. Nashik won second and Raisoni English School won third in sparing
category. Malkapur won movement type, Dhule won second and Rajendra Janjale won
third.
District Kho-Kho competition:
Palaskheda, Chalisgaon
and Wakod have entered Semis of District Kho-Kho competition. R. R. School, Khubhchand
Sagarmal School, Siddhi-vinayak School and Palaskheda girls have also entered
into Semis. Competition ends today with finals.
22nd January:
Depositors
committee raises 6 demands for protection of their deposits in Co-operatives:
Jalgaon
district's individual depositors having kept their money in short/ long term deposits
in various co-operative societies made a protest march yesterday to district co-operative
board office. The committee has demanded 6 assurances from the governing board
to protect their hard earned money.
First demand is non-consumer friendly approach
taken by board to get refunds of depositors in cash form. The board has taken
action on mere 10 co-operative societies while rest 30 is still in rest. Second
demand is policy followed by respective Co-operative society board to retain deposits
at lower than assessed values. Societies not availing and honoring consumer forum
orders be penalized. Other demands include keeping all societies and all branches
open throughout the work days. District's co-operative societies are in terribly
hurting state of financials and individual depositors are in worst panic. Bhusawal,
Jalgaon, Varangaon, Parola and Jamner are a few worst hit zones.

agricultural ministry visits damaged banana farms:
Central Agricultural
Authorities crop protection department yesterday visited Raver taluka damaged
banana farms having faced infection. Authorities will review and update state
horticulture department on possible reasons of damages and future steps.

Engineering College Conducted Kabra Trophy cultural competition:
Government
Engineering College Electronics and Tele-Communications Engineering students association
is conducting Late Kabra Trophy 2008 North Maharashtra University Level inter-college
cultural competition on 01st February at JDCC Bank Hall. Competition has first
prize of Rs. 2,001, Second Prize of Rs. 1,101 and Third prize of Rs. 751.

Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation conducted ground
competitions ended yesterday with School#24 winning trophy followed by School#5
and School#15. Darshan Khemsingh Tak from School#55 and Nilofar from School#56

Sanket Bhole wins in Table tennis competition:
District Table
tennis association conducted first rated table tennis competition yesterday had
Sanket Bhole winning both Sub-junior Under-14 and Junior Under-17 category. Competition
had 75 players participating. Chinmay Atravalkar won Cadet Category with Ashay
Patil as Runner up and Roshni Ahirrao and Yungandhara Bhole in girls' category.
Saurabh Joshi won runner up in Sub-junior category with Neha Atravalkar and Yugandhara
winning girls category. Himanshu Sharma won Junior category runner up award.
Jalgaon
swimmers dominate in Inter-district swimming competition:
District amateur
swimming association water sports organisation conducted Inter-district swimming
competition has Jalgaon swimmers making most of victories. Competition has 25-meters
free style, 25-meters back stroke, 25-meters breast stroke, 25-meters butterfly,
25-meters free style in Under-6, Under-9, Under-10, Under-12, and open categories.
Inter-school Kho-Kho competition begins today:
District sports
association conducted Limaye and Patil memorial district-level inter-school 3-days
Kho-Kho competition is beginning today in Jalgaon. Competition has Boys and Girls
category matches and Rs. 1,500 as first prize and Rs. 1,000 as runner up, Rs.
750 as third and Rs. 500 as fourth prize with trophy. It also has best player
award.

Cottonomics 2007: Cotton rates shoot up following oil rates:
District
cotton farmers are in high demand now days following increased oil costs. Private
buyers have procured 40 Lakhs quintals of cotton while CCI has received mere 362
quintals. Private buying is in range of 2,600 to 2,700 depending on cotton quality.

meet urges grand public honor irrespective of political periphery:
Jalgaon
district parent minister yesterday conducted a review meeting to discuss various
progress statuses of various activities being done for grand success to mega public
honor ceremony of Her Excellency President Pratibhatai Patil during visit to Jalgaon.
State has availed special funds of Rs. 6 Crores towards various works as of now.
Meet had participation of all senior leaders, existing MLA and MP along with Corporation
officials. Administration is also preparing Helipad at MuktaiNagar for Her proposed
visit.
Relief measure for Asoda: District Parent Minister orders load
shedding schedule change:
The angst Asoda village people seems to have
a slight relief with recent visit of District Parent minister. A group of representatives
met Minister yesterday and updated about disgusting state of electricity and basic
resources in Asoda. The village has 12 hours daily load shedding as of now and
villagers demanded change of load shedding category from rural to urban as it's
terribly hurting drinking water supply and basic supplies.
Minister has approved
this demand and actual effects of order are yet to see.
District Table
tennis competition review:
Jalgaon district table tennis competition first
day yesterday had various competitions in Under-6 and Under-8 age category. Venya
Singhal has won Under-6 while Shubendru Kulkarni has won Under-8 category competition.
Mansi Patil and Falguni Zambre won runner up awards in respective categories.
Competition today has Under-12 final matches and prize distribution in evening.
Jalgaon Janta Bank: A cautious move towards success:
District's
one of mega co-operative movements Jalgaon Janta Co-operative Bank Ltd. is celebrating
its 29th anniversary today. Bank has progressed with its cautious move and balanced
approach in growth. It has 386 Crores of deposits and 267 Crores of loans distributed
through its 24 branches networks having 5 ATM machines and around 35,000 members.
Bank has reached Audit Category A and has made disciplining approach to handle
hard times and cope with rumors spread earlier on its financial status and has
many challenges yet to face to come out of reversal moves for co-operative sectors.

District housing
development committee meeting approves 950 houses project:
Jalgaon district
housing development committee met yesterday to discuss various projects. It has
unanimously extended housing projects grant from existing 28,500 to 60,000 considering
increasing cost of raw material to build. Committee has approved 950 new housing
projects throughout the district.
This includes Rajiv Gandhi below-poverty
line housing scheme# 1 having 3,582 requests and approved 356 projects with first
installment of Rs. 4 Crores and second installment of Rs. 6 request sent to State.
It has also approved 578 housing applications in Rajiv Gandhi Housing scheme#2
out of total of 3,582 requests. Scheme avails Rs. 45,000 to beneficiary with Rs.
5,000 contribution from applicant.
It has considered updates on building up
hostel for weaker section students with 500 students' capacity at Jalgaon, 125
at MuktaiNagar and 125 at Chopda.
19th January:
H.S.C. Exam on 28th February,
S.S.C. on 11th March:
Maharashtra State secondary and higher-secondary
education board has announced schedule for upcoming H.S.C. and S.S.C. examinations
for the year 2008. H.S.C. written exam is from 28th February until 28th March
while S.S.C. written test is from 11th March until 31st March.
Practical, oral
and grade exams for H.S.C. are from 11th until 26th February while that for S.S.C.
are from 25th February until 08th March.
Corporation General Body meeting
review:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation General body met yesterday to
discuss various issues on its agenda. The ruling party has moved no-confidence
motion against Mayor and the same was continued in yesterday's meeting as well.
The body has also approved public offering of Waghur dam and Stadium during Presidential
visit to Jalgaon and re-tendering and repair works of Bal-Gandharva Open theatre.
Body has passed unanimous resolution to name Jalgaon city's newly built stadium
as "Chhatrapati Shiavaji Maharaj Sports complex".
It has approved
Rs. 1 Crore fund for mission Olympics scheme to prompt sports excellence by means
of National Champion's scheme. This will enable Corporation to provide special
aid to promising young players and avail latest equipments for sporting activities.

chess competition from 26th January:
Maharashtra Nav-Nirman Sena is conducting
3-days Aditya Trophy State-level chess competition from 26th January. Competition
is being conducted at Baheti College and has grand prizes worth Rs. 11,000. Prizes
include First prize of Rs. 5,001 and memento, second prize of Rs. 3,001 and memento,

Jalgaon city municipal Corporation general
body is meeting today to discuss various issues on its agenda. Amongst topmost
includes inauguration of Waghur dam during Taisaheb visit to Jalgaon. Body has
to officially approve the public offering through to go ahead in this regards.
Public honor committee meeting:
Jalgaon Corporation Presidential
public honor committee met yesterday to discuss preparations for ceremony. Committee
has planned to avail silver Hindi scripted memento to her and invitations would
be served in city's every house. It also plans to lighting decorate its 17-story
administrative building, uniqueness in advertisements and hoardings. It has also
announced honoring their husband Mr. Devisingh Shekhawat.
Administration
receives 97 Lakhs towards cotton infection:
District administration has
received Rs. 97.41 Lakhs towards compensation for cotton infection for Amalner,
Dharangaon and Erandol taluka. This includes Rs. 49.72 Lakhs for Amalner, 17.69
Lakhs for Erandol and 30 Lakhs for Dharangaon.

January:
District Civil hospital gets Rs. 50 Lakhs central aid:
Jalgaon
district civil hospital has received Rs. 50 Lakhs funds under national rural health
project. Directorate has ordered disposal of these funds for upgrading its infrastructural
resources by March-2008. Hospital administration is likely to send another proposal
of Rs. 50 Lakhs towards its various project requirements.
District Traders'
confederation to meet today:
Jalgaon district Traders' confederation is
meeting today to decide is strategy on state assured withdrawal of Octroi tax
from D Category corporations. Meet is likely to decide its strategy to keep pressure
on government to remove this at earliest. Meet would also decide on its policy
on Pratibhatai honor.
National Highway encroachments removal from Tuesday:
National Highway Authorities has announced starting of its encroachment removal
process from today. The National Highway# 6 Surat - Dhule - Jalgaon has 428 to
430 Kms belt crossing from Jalgaon city. Authorities have road both sides 30 meters
diameter expansion plan.

Corporation organized Jalgaon Public honor committee meeting review:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation yesterday conducted a general meeting of all
Jalgaonities to discuss and update on various preparatory measures for proposed
tour of Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil on 08th and 09th February 2008. Meet
had various suggestions that include having her photo on all hoardings, banners
for this honor, naming city's prime Chowk in name of Pratibhatai, set up special
medical teams to assist and introduce good drinking water and traffic control

Jalgaon district administration following State Policy has announced
home-delivery based availability of rationing cards from all Tahsil offices in
district. This service would start shortly and every willing citizen will have
to fill in required form and avail documents required. On verification of these

weekly public supplies in presence of Talathi every week.

Jalgaon district's rubby crop cultivation
has entered into final stages with corn, sunflower and other such crops in large
numbers. District has 99,400 hectare area. District administration has assured
crop special release of Girana dam water to benefit Chalisgaon, Bhadgaon and Pachora.
District agricultural office expected rise in cultivation in Erandol, Parola and
Amalner. Latest reports have all these regions showing good growth excluding Pachora
and Bhadgaon.
Jalgaon taluka is on top of chart with 20,480 hectare under

State assures removal of Octroi in Category-D Corporations
by March:
Maharashtra State ministry has assured removal of Octroi tax
from all D category Municipal Corporations throughout the State by February end.

Octroi removal committee
yesterday met State CM to discuss this issue. Meeting had Dhule political leaders
along with committee heads from Jalgaon. State has categorized Jalgaon as D category

Corporation Annual Budget - Key challenge
to Corporation:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation administration has
begun its homework to prepare for Annual budget of Jalgaon Corporation. Administration
has been facing stiff protest by Corporators on development, cleanliness and other
such key issues. Jalgaon Corporation is also known for one of highest Corporations
to post 200-Crores budget.
Key contracts and factors include availing infrastructural
facilities, roads and drinking water and have loans repayment as key constraint.
JDCC Bank is one of largest outstanding with Corporation and has already served

District council water management committee meeting review:
Jalgaon district council (ZP) water management committee met yesterday to discuss
various plans for upcoming summer and related drinking water shortage in various
parts of district. Council has submitted its draft plan mentioning possibility
of likely drinking water shortage in 353 villages. Committee further urged administration
to co-ordinate with district administration for getting related works done before
summer.
Committee also plans to introduce various plans for availing ample
water in 403 villages estimated at 301.33 Lakhs. It further suggests acquiring
243 private well at cost of 34.10 Lakhs, tanker water supply at 216.65 Lakhs,
59 well works at 26.89 Lakhs, 14 water supply line laying at 1.68 Lakhs and temporary
water supply scheme at 8 locations at 20.15 Lakhs.

Railways approve Udhana-Jalgaon
Railway line doubling and electrifying:
The Cabinet committee on economic
affairs (CCEA) has approved doubling and electrifying the Udhana - Jalgaon Railway
line of 306.93KM at a total cost of 714.60 Crores in estimated time frame of 5
years. The route currently has around 23-26 trains per day which would rise to
40 by 2011. This would also help reduce transit time of trains to reach Gujarat
zone thermal power stations by around 2-3hrs. Doubling and electrifying would
also reduce Jalgaon - Surat railway run time by around 1 hour.
Railways
reverse wagon cancellation charges, order likely today:
Central Railways
ministry has approved reversal of wagon cancellation charges of Rs. 14 Lakhs 74
thousands 800 Rupees levied on district farmers. Banana producers from district
cancelled wagons on 4, 9 and 13th December on account of no demand in northern
India. Railways as a measure levied huge charges of Rs. 14 Lakhs towards cancellation
of these wagons rather levying Rs. 500 per wagon as penalty. Banana producers
protested this and stopped sending banana through railways until decision is made.
Bhusawal divisional authority is likely to receive this order today.

first time in last 40 years. Central cabinet approved delimitation commission

State road transport Corporation has announced buying of 10 new pollution free
buses on Ajanta route in March 2008. It has been operating pollution free buses
in association with Maharashtra Tourism development Corporation since 01st January
2001 and the existing contract ends in March-2008. All buses from T-point to Ajanta
caves meet Euro-2 standards and include 5 luxurious and 5 semis.

Jalgaon district Collectorate has received confirmation fax from Rashtrapati Bhavan
on proposed visit of Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil. She is visiting Jalgaon

The cotton crop produces this year started
amidst lower response to state cotton buying. The private buyers buying picked

announces hikes in Property rates by 20%:
Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar
district rural and urban area property government rates have been hiked by average
20% value with effect from today. Possibility of increase in government rates
from today led to huge rush at property registrar office for completing pending
registration formalities.
State town planning department has announced these
rates. Earlier rural areas had uniform rates and this new pattern now has farm
values as basis. This change would impact average 20% increase of government valuation
of property in district's 15 taluka having 1,375 villages. Department has 98 effective
zones and it has hiked rates by 10-20% in 55 zones and rest have more than 20%
increase. Jalgaon city has 7 'Mauje' (zones) with 351 valuation areas. Out of
this, 20 divisions have 10% hike, 325 have 10-20% increases and rest 6 have more
than 20% increases.
Cottonomics 2007: Private buying reaches record of
850 Crores in division:
District's government cotton buying has faced
shock with lowest ever response this year. Division has reported buying of 35
Lakh quintals by private parties and record high of 850 Crores. State sponsored
CCI had 6 centers in Jalgaon District and have received mere 277 quintals of crop.
Private buyers have offered 2,400 per quintal rate for good quality cotton.
