29th February:
Corporation issues notices to 8,500 property owners in City:

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has issued notices to around 8,500 new property owners for self assessment of property taxes. The notice has mention of tax assessable value by Corporation. This Nashik pattern of self assessment has special hearing on 11/03/2008 for any of issues and grievances. Taxing pattern has 38.75% tax of assessable value for residential properties and 48% for non-residential structures like shops/ blocks.

Mumbai Dabbawala in Jalgaon today:
Raisoni group of Institutions has an Open forum meeting today at JDCC Hall having Six-Sigma achieving Mumbai Dabbawala team. Knowledge Series has detailed discussion with success methodologies adopted by Dabbawala Team.

District Sports complex open for players:
Jalgaon District's pride and newly inaugurated Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sports Complex is now open for all players with chargeable basis services. This stadium has Swimming, Badminton, Squash, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis and Billiards facilities open for all with onetime registration charges and monthly charges along with life membership option. Sports associations have requested District administration to reduce higher charges proposed by administration towards this usage to popularize services.

State Electricity distribution Company announces reduction in load shedding during exam times:
State electricity distribution Company has announced reduction in evening/ night times load shedding during on-going exam session. This has availed special relief to student community. Currently district's rural areas are having 12 hours and urban areas have 6 hours load shedding. This new load shedding time table is being sent to Nashik divisional office for final approval for implementation.

NMU honors scholar sportsmen students and Colleges:
North Maharashtra University under its Gymkhana Day program has honored various students and colleges having outstanding skills in respective fields. This includes Dhule's Z. B. Patil College winning first, S.S.V.P.S. winning Second, Chalisgaon Rashtriya College winning Third, B. P. Arts Commerce College Chalisgaon winning fourth and Nandurbar College winning fifth rank. G. D. Bendale College Jalgaon has received best girls College promoting sports. Jalgaon division has won best active division award and Vijay Natthu Chaudhari has been selected as Best Player of NMU. He along with Prabhakar Chaudhari has qualified for Scholarships.

Jitendra Patil selected in State One-day cricket team:
Asoda native district Cricket association left-handed fast bowler Jitendra Patil has been selected in State team's last-15 players for upcoming western divisional Ramakant Desai Trophy Competition.

28th February:
Corporation standing committee approves Rs. 254 Crores Budget with amendments:

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation standing committee has approved Year 2008-09 Rs. 253 Crores 93 Lakhs Budget with certain amendments in taxation structure as proposed by administration. The newly sanctioned budget has revised housing (property) taxes and reduced general taxes by 5% to compensate and introduce water supplies benefit tax at 2%, waste management services benefit tax at 2%, water supply tax by 1%, special cleanliness tax at 2%. It expects RS. 30 Crores collection of house taxes, Rs. 8 Crores for open plots tax, Rs. 6 Crores from housing projects taxes collection and 1 Crore from shopping complexes on account of various taxes.
Budget has provision of Rs. 29 Crores 33 Lakhs for repayment of HUDCO and other banking organisation. It has given a special fund allocation for its recently cleared housing project. Budget has Rs. 25 Lakhs proposal for Bal-Gandharva Open theatre renovation along with 15 Crores for roads, 1 Crore for toilets and urinals, 2 Crores for gutters and Rs. 30 Lakhs premium payment for public accidental scheme premium payment. Budget provides Rs. 20 Lakhs fund to Corporators for conducting various developmental works in their wards.

Satpuda forestry Border meeting review:
Maharashtra and MadhyaPradesh border forestry officials met yesterday at Pal in Raver to discuss various measures to curb down increasing tree cutting leading to imbalance in whole region. Both state officials exchanged booked and doubted offenders listing and expressed need of fencing of forestry and combined forestry map of MP and MadhyaPradesh, availing special prizes for those offering information on such offenders, increasing patrolling, initiating wireless bus stand. It has also discussed need of setting up forest posts, armed forestry conservers and filling vacant forestry officials' posts. This would now follow both State Policemen meeting at Khandwa.

Chalisgaon Municipal Council budget presented:
Chalisgaon Municipal Council standing committee has approved year 2008-09 budget has 6 Lakhs surplus budget of 4.46 Crores. The budget has no new taxes and proposes completion of various governmental schemes like backward areas improvement schemes, urban infrastructural development of small and medium cities scheme, golden jubilee urban employment scheme and water supply schemes. It has proposed various roads repairs and concreting works with Chowk renovation.

Jamner Municipal Council voting on 07th April:
State Election Commission has announced election schedule for Jamner Municipal Council. The process has begun yesterday with enforcement of Code of Conduct from yesterday. This is second election since establishment of Jamner council. Commission has taken 15th January as baseline for electoral roll. Election notification would be issued on 07th March. City has 29,965 Population as per year 2001 census with 20 wards having 6 ladies reserved wards.

District's 42,696 students to appear in HSC exam beginning today:
It's high time for students with H.S.C. exam beginning from today. Jalgaon district has 42,696 students that include 8,412 repeaters. There are 48 centers for regular students and 14 centers for repeaters.

Excel-2008 in NMU:
NMU department of management studies is conducting two-day Excel-2008 event to promote hidden skills in its students from 04th March. Event also has 'Naturo Festo' to spread ecology protection awareness. The annual get-together has various programs like Chocolate day, Pink Day, Parents Meet, Ground competitions and sports competitions. Other events include One-minute show and laughter challenge competitions.

27th February:
Railways budget 2008 announces Udhana-Jalgaon line doubling, Jalgaon-Solapur line survey:

Railways budget 2008 has announced provision of funds for Udhana - Jalgaon line doubling along with Manmad - Indore double line and Jalgaon - Solapur new line survey. It also has overhead bridge for railway line crossing on Surat line in Bhoite Nagar. Apart from these announcements, budget is also benefiting Jalgaon district with many of Garib Nawaz express and newly started trains to cross through. The demanded Bhusawal - Mumbai Express has no distinguished mention like Manmad - Dhule - Indore line laying and Chalisgaon - Dhule P.G. line conversion.

Border meeting in Pal today:
Maharashtra and MadhyaPradesh forestry and forest animal department officials are meeting today in Pal to discuss various issues in meeting. The Satpuda hills region has witnessed huge tree cutting in recent years leading to imbalance. This is also causing forest animals entering into villages and causing panic to villagers. Meet would have I.F.S. level officers discussing various measures to control this.

District's 8,774 hectares farms in organic farming:
Jalgaon district's 8,774 hectares area is under organic farming in 376 villages and places. It includes this year's 1,750 hectares land from 181 villages this time. This is third year of organic farming implementation in district and is being seen as revolution. District farmers are taking around 300 quintal banana produces. This year it has 2,043 hectares under cotton cultivation. District has three sub-divisions namely Jalgaon with 3,226 hectares, Pachora with 1,483 hectares and Amalner with 4,065 hectares farm land.

Corporation standing committee meeting review:
Jalgaon city municipal Corporation standing committee meeting yesterday had approved daily and weekly markets market fee collection tender. It has rejected Advocate fees payment bill of Mayor on case filed in Aurangabad bench of Mumbai High Court against No Confidence motion filed by ruling party. Opposition members have approved the same considering dignity of Role and have requested ruling party to do so.
The Daily and Weekly market highest tender has 57.15 Lakhs quote to that of 85 Lakhs as approved by State earlier. Body has sanctioned this highest tender and has is sending the same to State for final approval.

SSC and HSC Exam preparations in full pace:
District administration is in full pace preparations for upcoming HSC exam beginning from 28th February until 28th March. SSC exam is beginning from 11th March until 31st march. Administration has setup vigilance committee under Collectorate chairmanship along with flying squads in observations of Tahsil officers of respective Taluka. This will include block development officer, Police station officer and block education officer. Entire district will have section 37(1) and 37(3) during period from 28th February until 12th March for smooth conduct of entire process.

Election heat raise political upstream in Jamner:

Jamner's many of Panchayat are undergoing election on 16th March. Recent decision of offering B.O.T. basis large scale construction in city has also come up as a selling point for existing rulers along with local issues.

State Co-operative Department orders review report on Co-operative societies:
State Co-operative Department has ordered submission of special review report on financial status of co-operative societies in Jalgaon district. The District Co-operative department would submit this report stating detailed financial status of around 40 co-operatives in trouble.

Corporation standing committee meeting today:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation standing committee is meeting today to discus much debated and discussed daily, weekly markets market fees collection contract. Corporation is currently using its machinery to collect this fee. It is again meeting on Wednesday to finalise budgetary recommendations of General body.

Mumbai Government Law College wins Moot court competition:

Mumbai Government Law College (GLC) has won Dr. Annasaheb G. D. Bendale memorial third national moot court competition conducted by S. S. Maniyar Law College Jalgaon. Chennai School of Excellence won runner up award. Competition had 11 teams from around India.

Body building competition at Bhusawal:
Khandesh Body building association is conducting Bhusawal Shree 2008 competition on Thursday, 28th February. Competition has awards, medal, NRMU memento and certificates for first four contestants. It also has Best Poser 2008, Consolation Prize and Best Improved contestant.

Jalgaon's 5 selected in National Softball competition:
Jalgaon's 5 players have been selected in State team for upcoming National Softball competition by Softball Association of India at Katak (Orrisa). This includes Jayant Jadhav, Manoj Nimba Patil and Kishor Pralhad Chaudhari in boys team along with Amruta Pathak and Diksha Patil in girls team.

Godavari College conducted Spark 2008 competition begins today:
Godavari Institute of Management and Research is conducting Spark 2008 event from 25th February until 01st March. Event has various activities and programs like Students Day, Quiz Contest, Ad-Mad Show, and One Minute show and model press conference.

North Maharashtra University convocation ceremony ends:

NMU 16th convocation ceremony ended yesterday amidst cheerful thoughts of attaining best of future. Chief Guest for ceremony and Senior Gandhian activist Nirmalatai Deshpande has iterated need of focusing on career with Sane Guruji principals. She has recalled Khandesh as land of Sane Guruji and Vinoba Bhave activities and it has always supported Gandhiji activities from time to time.
University Vice Chancellor on this eve has announced future plans of establishing Science and Technology Park. UGC latest survey has listed 3 Colleges in Top-100 Colleges having affiliation to NMU. It also plans to have hostel for 250 backward Classes boys and 125 girls in its area.

Khandesh region's Authors get Dushyant-Kumar Literary Award:
Surbhi Literary and Art Academy Khandwa have honored Khandesh region's literary icons with Dushyant-Kumar Literary award for the year for their outstanding services to literary field. Jalgaon District Agricultural Industrial Multi-purposes society Golden Jubilee tomorrow:
Jalgaon district's one of oldest co-operative movement District Agricultural Industrial multi-purposes society (JDMS) is celebrating its golden jubilee on 25th February 2008. Society was established with aim of mutual co-operative and services to society by benefiting society with employment and work opportunities. It serves Jalgaon Milk Union's various products in Jalgaon city through individuals at 300 booths, retail outlets, shops along with cotton, grains buying at APMC.

Jamner to have B.O.T. basis construction of Shopping complex and School:
State Government as a pilot project of Private-public partnership has sanctioned building of shopping complex, rest house and school at Z.P. land in Jamner. ZP owns vacant space in its Marathi and Urdu Medium schools. This project would have 500 blocks shopping complex on city's main road along with 2,000 square meters play ground. This work also includes building of Hall and all government offices opposite Tahsil office, new veterinary hospital at current veterinary hospital and 32 blocks residential complex for ZP office bearers, new rest house of 10 rooms at current rest house location.

Government Engineering College wins Techno-Arena 2008:
Government Engineering College Jalgaon conducted Techno-Arena 2008 technical paper presentation competition ended yesterday with its students Mohsinuddin Khwaja and Amitkumar along with Aditi Killedar and Anchal Parkar from KK Wagh Nashik College.

Corporation General Body approves Housing project work:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation General Body meeting yesterday has approved continuing much debated housing project with majority amidst opposition party protest. The housing project initiated long ago and currently in wounded condition went in legal fights with earlier Commissioner marking Police complaints against Councilors on alleged mishandling and severe financial losses to Corporation.
The approved housing project is in bad state since last 7-8 years and re-approval would cost dearly to Corporation. Body also approved taking away earlier Commissioner filled Police complaint as tribunal has given green signal to this entire project and did not find any irregularities in it.

Dnyandev Mahajan receives Jewel of India Award:
Chinawal (Raver) based leading farmer and Mahabanana Jalgaon unit haed Dnyandev Mahajan has received India Development Council Mumbai's annual Jewel of India Award for his outstanding services in social and agricultural field. This is his 7th National Award. It comprises of Medal, Certificate and Mother India memento.

ZP General Body meeting review:
Jalgaon District council (ZP) General body met yesterday to discuss various issues on agenda. IT has approved public water supply schemes labor wages, lakes works revised administration estimate, approved cost for land acquisition, Rs. 13.63 Lakhs for buying new vehicles for works department. Body has disapproved 14 topics in agenda.

22nd February:
Service tax guidance and cancellations camps:

Central Excise department is conducting four camps in Jalgaon district to guide tax payers. Authority have urged Service Tax payers for cancellation of licenses in case their taxable services turnover for financial years 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07 was below 8 Lakhs or their business is closed or they are not paying taxes due to some reasons. Camp is being organized at Jalgaon, Bhusawal, Chalisgaon and Amalner.

Corporation General Body meeting today:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation general body is meeting today to finalise its decision on housing projects. Debt recovery tribunal has ordered Corporation to complete this housing project by 31st December 2009.
Earlier Municipal Council proposed construction of 11,424 houses for slum and no-house Jalgaonities in Pimprala. Corporation's earlier Commissioner filed a complain against Councilors and Contractor with Jalgaon Police notifying alleged irregularities in handling entire housing project and that project has led to severe financial damages to Corporation. Body would today decide on its stand on continuation of project and paying debts of contractors.

National convention on 04th March in NMU:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon languages and literary department is conducting two days national convention on Marathi, Hindi and English languages. Topics for convention include new trends in Marathi, Modern Hindi review, emerging literary in English. 21st February:
Corporation general body meeting on Budget 2008-09:

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation General body met yesterday to discuss proposed budgetary taxes hikes suggested by Administration. Body has suggested deduction in existing taxes and then including in new taxes to ease the taxes burden on Jalgaonities. For the first time in Corporation history amidst upcoming Corporation elections, both Rulers and Opposition unanimously approved this change.
Earlier standing committee rejected administration demands to hike taxes and sent this administration request to general body. General body rather rejecting this demand has approved mean way. Currently applicable general taxes rates would be deduced to 15% from that of 20%. The reduced 5% would balance water supply benefits tax, waste management facilitation tax, special cleanliness and plantation tax that are being levied newly. Body has kept Octroi taxes rates as it is. This revised resolution is now sent to standing committee for final approval. Revised rates suggested by General body are Water tax 1%, water supplies benefit tax 2%, waste management tax 2%, special cleanliness tax 2% and plantation tax 0.50%.

Jalgaon, Raver parliamentary constituencies come into existence:
Delimitation commission suggested changes have been notified by Central EC and this has led to Jalgaon and Raver parliamentary constituencies. The newly formed Raver constituency has Malkapur connected from Vidarbha. New structure has 11 assembly seats in Jalgaon district. Earlier Yaval and Parola assembly seats have been removed to form Jalgaon rural assembly seat. The new structure has a nice blending of regions to get matured candidates to put best of efforts in development.

Mercury begins heating effects in region:
After witnessing intense cold waves throughout the month, the whole region is now witnessing increase temperature and heating in afternoon times. Mercury has reached 36 degree centigrade in mere four days leading to mixed climate. Bhusawal has touched 39.5 degree centigrade in last 4 days.

S. S. Maniyar Law College conducted Moot court competition:
S. S. Maniyar Law College Jalgaon is conducting National Two-day National Moot court competition in Jalgaon from 23rd February. Competition would be inaugurated by Mumbai High Court Nagpur bench Chief justice along with many dignitaries in judiciary.

JDCC Bank announces its policy for crop loans:

Jalgaon district's apex co-operative bank JDCC Bank has announced its crop loan policy for upcoming year Kharip and Rubby crops. It has also announced rising of loan limits by 20% for grains, pulses and Soyabeen as per government policy. Bank has set a target of 350 Crores crop loan for upcoming year based on last year loans collections. It has availed loans of 325 Crores last year and is yet to receive repayments.
New policy has Rs. 9,500 per hectare for cotton, Rs. 11,500 for highly productive cotton farms, Rs. 8,500 for Jwar, Corn and Bajra, Rs. 8,500 for Sunflower, Rs. 30,000 for pre-season sugarcane, Rs. 25,000 for seasonal sugarcane, Rs. 8,500 for onion, Rs. 20,000 for banana for Kharip season. It offers 9,000 per hectare for grains, Rs. 8,500 for Jwar and Bajra, Rs. 37,000 for Banana and Rs. 75,000 for tissue culture banana in Rubby season.

Marriage muhurat seasons until April end only:
This year's marriage seasons are until April end only. The astrological data suggests no Muhurat in May and June 2008. February Muhurat includes 21, 23-26, 28-20 along with March Muhurats from 1-4, 9-10, 14, 19, 23-24, 26-27, 29 and 31. April has 1, 2, 15, 17-21, 23, 25 and 28-30.

Corporation General Body meeting today to discuss Octroi rates:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation General body is meeting today to discuss Octroi tax rates for upcoming financial year. It would also discuss on property tax, water tax, fire brigade services tax, development charges for new constructions. Both ruling party and opposition have shown protest to administration proposed tax hikes.

Rubby season to produce record grain and green chickpeas:
Jalgaon district is likely to have record high production of grain and green chickpeas. District has cultivation of 82,030 hectares with 52,180 hectares grain and 30,850 hectares green chickpeas. Raver taluka is on top in grains cultivation while Bodwad is on lowest. Yaval has highest chickpeas cultivated while Parola has lowest.

NMU Convocation on 23rd February:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon is conducting its annual convocation on 23rd February. Key highlights of convocation ceremony are 66 Gold medals and 73 Ph.D. degrees awarding through chief guest. NMU is offering 11,395 degrees for this year.

Jalgaon's V. V. Library - Unbeaten Century of knowledge spreading:
Established in a very small location on 01st July 1877 with mere 10 members, V. V. Library Jalgaon is State's one of few libraries having achieved 100 years of educating community by spreading knowledge. Later library moved to spacious large building with donations from City's ancient time donor Moolji Jaitha having built in memory of Vallabhdas Valji. It collected Rs. 4,000 and built Lamington town hall (today's Lokmanya Tilak Hall), Library building, gymkhana and tennis court. Later it extended a floor in 1921-22 following good response. It got official approval as District Library in 1968-69 with annual grant of Rs. 12,000. It got approval as 'A' grade library on 16th January 1971. Library now has over 1,800 reference books and also conducts annual debating competition and large number of books as well.

Vardi (Chopda) Solider dies in Rajasthan:
Ravindra Kisan Pathare (Age 25) undergoing training in Indian army at Isar (Rajasthan) has died of accident due to collision with tank in water. In all 4 undergoing soldier died in this incidence. He was native of Borsar (Vaijapur) in Aurangabad district and was residing in Chahardi Sugar factory since last 14 years with his parents.

Cottonomics 2007-08: Farmers happy with around 30% rises in cotton prices:

Cotton buying this season began at 2,200 to 2,400 Rs. per quintal. Following good demand and lower supplies, it has reached to 2,700 per quintal now. Farmers are getting around 2,600 to 2,700 based on quality. District's 4.12 Lakh hectares area had cotton cultivated this season with 'BT Cotton' in majority.

Mission Olympic and Mission National Champion in Jalgaon:
Sports and youth services directorate in association with Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation are implementing two sports encouraging State schemes Mission Olympic and Mission National Champion for sportsperson in 12 to 18 years age group. Scholar sportsperson in this age category would be selected and trained for 10 years with financial support from Corporation. Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has made a special provision of Rs. 1 Crore for these schemes.
Earlier State sports and youth services directorate directed Corporation to allocate 5% of its total budget as funds for Sports activities promotion. Scheme aims at making National and Olympic category sportsperson by encouraging and offering financial support. Sports include athletics, badminton, boxing, tennis, table tennis, shooting, swimming, wrestling and weight lifting. Scheme also aims to have minimum of 10 trainers and maximum of 50 sportspersons under training.

Jalgaon defeats Nandurbar in Inter-district cricket competition:
Jalgaon has defeated Nandurbar team in exciting match at Kolhapur in MCA conducted Intern-district cricket competition. The open category match had Jalgaon winning by 1 run. Jalgaon was trailing by 119 runs. Varun Deshpande's much needed century and Kiran Jadhav's 7 wickets on 30 runs helped Jalgaon score this victory.

Temperature normalise in whole region: Mercury rises up:

Jalgaon district having witnessing cold waves since last one and half month has final received relief with continued increase in minimum and maximum temperature throughout the day. District touched 25.7 degree centigrade on maximum and 5.0 degree centigrade on minimum with 65% humidity on 28th January 2008. Yesterday's records reveal net increase of around 9 degree centigrade on both sides.

Pratik Patil selected for International Chess competition at Switzerland:
Jalgaon's junior chess hero Pratik Patil has been selected in Indian chess team to participate in International chess competition at Switzerland based on his performance in National competition at Guwahati. Maharashtra team scored second rank at end of 6 rounds with 4 players (1 reserved) and scored 18.5 points in 24 games. Pratik scored 6 points out of 6 games and also won best player of the competition award.

Corporation delays water supply by a day in some areas:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation water supply department has conveyed delay of water supply following electricity load shedding Unit#6B covering areas near Bambhori Bridge and highway connected areas.

State Election Commission Chief in Jalgaon today:

State Election Commission Chief is arriving today in Jalgaon to hear various 18 complaints and objections of Corporation Wards. Hearing begins on 11AM on 13th floor in Corporation Administrative building. Current Corporation Corporators tenure ends in December 2008 and this hearing is as a part of preparatory measures of State EC for smooth conduct of Corporation elections.

63 Village Panchayat Electoral roll ready: 134,703 voters to poll on 16th March:
Jalgaon district's 63 village Panchayat tenure is ending in April to July period. Administration has published final electoral roll for election of these Panchayats. There are 134,703 voters that include 69,326 male and 65,377 female eligible voters. It includes 4 from Jalgaon, 6 from Erandol, 4 from Dharangaon, 15 from Jamner, 4 from Bhusawal, 1 from Yaval, 1 from Raver, 1 from MuktaiNagar, 4 from Bodwad, 3 from Bhadgaon, 4 from Chalisgaon, 7 from Amalner and 9 from Chopda.

Conference on 'Milk Federation - In NDDB Administration':
Pachora Chilling Centre of Jalgaon Milk Union popularly known as VIKAS is conducting a conference today on NDDB administration for Jalgaon Milk Union. Conference would have 150 Women and other Small scale milk collection organisations. Jalgaon Milk union had mere 5,000 liters a day milk collection until 1995 in its board administration. Now the same union is having 250,000 liters of milk collection under NDDB Administration and is ranked as #1 milk union throughout the State. Pachora chilling center has 40,000 liters of milk chilling facility. Union is now having 10-days payment cycle for producers to that of 13-months waiting period for earlier payments. Union now has work force of 357 personnel to that of 1,100 employees.

Increasing vehicle traffic in Jalgaon:
In spite of continued fuel prices hike, Jalgaon continue to witness increasing number of vehicles on road. District has witnessed sharp increase in vehicles in last 4 years. Jalgaon city earlier having only 4 petrol pumps now has 22 pumps while whole district has 125 petrol pumps with 385,196 vehicles.

Banana produces still wait for justification from Railways ministry:

Jalgaon district's banana producers are still waiting for Central railways Ministry on its levied penalty for cancellation of wagons. Issue aroused on 13th December when producers cancelled wagons following no demand. Railways raised Rs. 14.70 Lakhs penalty note for this cancellation. Producers till then have stopped sending banana through railways. Producers are expecting resolution to this issue by 25th February.

Cold waves eases - life normalises:
The intense cold wave began few weeks ago has now eased and temperature is now turning to normal through Jalgaon district. This has sent sign of relief for whole region witnessing suddenly arrived chilling cold waves.

Narendra Patil selected for National Competition:
Directorate of Sports and youth services has selected Pachora based Sports trainer and National referee Narendra Patil for 53rd National School Chess Competition. Maharashtra team has won 10 Gold, 15 Silver and 5 bronze medals at Delhi under his guidance. Team also won 5 Gold, 10 Silver, 10 bronze at Vishakhapattanam and 15 Gold, 5 Silver and 5 bronze at Tirupati. Jalgaon's Pratik Patil and Dhruva Shah are participating in this competition.

Corporation's Glory: From Bapu to President Honor ceremony:

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation is privileged when it honored Nation's first lady Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil in mega public honor ceremony. With this it has achieved rare tradition of honoring Nation's topmost icons and completed 81 years of this tradition. Earlier Jalgaon Council honored Bapu on 10th February 1927 during his visit to Jalgaon. Council initiated its honoring part on 31st December 1882 by felicitation of British ruling Governor.

Jalgaon R.T.O. introduces Optical smart card technology:
Jalgaon R.T.O. office has started availing optical smart card based registration certificate for all new registering vehicles in District. The newly introduce technology has ability for longer lasting, no copying and easy access software technology developed by N.I.C. Card would cost Rs. 350 to registrant and setup introduced has 350-500 cards per day processing capability.

District Secondary Teachers to go protest on Saturday:
Jalgaon district Secondary Teacher's association is going protest on Saturday on 16th February from 2PM until 5PM at respective Tahsil office for governmental authorities to attend its various prolonged demands.
Amongst major demands include implementation of Sixth Pay Commission scale from 01st January 2006, avail Rs. 1,000 increase per season from 01st January 2006, immediately pay central DA due since last 28 months, cancel partial retirement pay scheme and not to introduce any anti-teacher measures in current retirement scheme. Protest measures continue on 03rd March at district education officer office.

Vivek Alvani secures second rank in State table tennis:
Jalgaon's table tennis player and trainer Vivek Alvani has secured second rank in The Indian Gymkhana conducted 78th State Senior's Table tennis rated competition in 39 years category. With this he is now selected in 'Maharashtra A' team to play in National Table tennis competition at Jalandhar from 19th February.

State Tennis ball cricket competition from 15th February:

A sigh of relief for Jalgaonities: Standing committee disapproves administration's proposed tax hike:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation standing committee unanimously disapproved Administration's proposed tax hike in a meeting yesterday. Committee has taken basis of no infrastructural developments, water supplies panic, street lights, roads and gutters. Committee has urged administration to improve its taxes recovery mechanism and achieve 100% tax collection to raise funds for development works. Administration urged members to allow introduction of taxes that corporation has not levied in City yet. Corporation has dues of Rs. 7 Crores on its housing project beneficiaries.
Administration has also confirmed pendency in Waghur dam project leading to no inauguration during presidential visit. Standing committee and entire Jalgaon city has appreciated Corporation employees work caliber shown during presidential visit and expects further of such works in upcoming times.

Belganga to offer Rs. 560 rate for Sugarcane:
Belganga Co-operative Sugar factory at Bhoras in Chalisgaon has announced Rs. 560 per quintal rate for sugarcane. Factory is transferring this amount to bank accounts of respective farmers in next 3 days. This factory was down since last 4 years and started this year with financial support from JDCC bank by hypothecation of goods. It would receive Rs. 1,006 per bag loans for Bank if and as approved. Bank officials are processing this request and yet to confirm the same.

District's 36 village panchayat goes for election in March:
Jalgaon district's 36 village Panchayat are undergoing voting on 16th March. These Panchayats tenure is ending in April. Election process begins with notification on 25th February followed by nomination filling from 01st March, scrutiny on 03rd March, last date of withdrawal as 05th March. Votes' counting is on 18th March. This also includes large sized Panchayat having 17 members.
Undergoing panchayat include Jalgaon - 4, Chopda - 4, Erandol - 6, Shendurni - 15, MuktaiNagar - 1, Bodwad - 4, Chalisgaon - 4, Bhadgaon - 3, Bhusawal - 4, Yaval - 1, Raver - 1, Amalner - 7 and Chopda - 9.

B.S.P. Candidate Ramesh Patil wins Khirdwad block election:
B.S.P. candidate Ramesh Patil has won the Khirdwad Block (Raver taluka) bye-election by 698 votes over nearest rival candidate from BJP. Congress and two Independent candidates lost their deposits as they failed to get votes. This block got vacated after his resignation as he shifted party from NCP.

Corporation to complete road works by March end:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has announced completion of all road works by March end. It has expedited all developmental works from its reserved funds by now and has demanded special fund of Rs. 20 Crores for other pending works. It also plans to renovate Rath Chowk and Bahinabai Chowk on grounds of Kavya Ratnavali Chowk.
Corporation for first time in its history speeded and successfully executed developmental works in timed phase with special credit to its engineering and officer level staff taking special attention to this development.

Tapi Irrigation development gets funds for projects:
Tapi Irrigation development Corporation has received provision of 33 Crores 70 Lakhs funds for 13 mini irrigation projects in Khandesh region. This includes Nimdya (Raver), Haripura (Yaval), Chinchpani (Chopda) water scheme from Jalgaon district.

Collectorate mega recruitment drive for 104 Clerk and 57 Talathi post begins today:
Jalgaon district Collectorate is conducting interviews for vacant its 104 Clerk and 57 Talathi posts. It has formed a panel of 7 officers to conduct interviews of 473 candidates eligible for interview. Panel includes Collector, ZP CEO, District Services Officer, Social welfare officer, Army welfare officer, backward project officer and deputy Collectorate as member secretary.
Recruitment process has first phase for Talathi interviews on 12th and 13th and to that of Clerk candidates on 13th and 14th February. Collectorate received around 27,000 applications for these posts.

Presidential tour ends - Challenging time for administration ahead to keep pace:

Her Excellency President of India Pratibhatai Patil 3-days Jalgaon tour has ended yesterday with marks of success for appreciating efforts by Khandesh grand public honor committee in association with Jalgaon district administration, Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation and District Stadium committee.
Jalgaon city and MuktaiNagar taluka witnessed total revamp in terms of developmental works. All these entities began a series of works from January and paced activities as scheduled tour day arrived. All Governmental offices colored and welcoming, her visiting area streets in lighting, roads patched and developed again and district sports complex fully developed. Now it is real testing time for all governing authorities to keep up the pace of development initiated by this tour.
Waghur dam having said to be complete with estimated cost of 111 Crores could not get inaugurated in this session. Corporation earlier made successful testing of 28KMS water supply line from dam to Girana pumping. Corporation is yet to announce reasons of cancellation of this inauguration ceremony.
This growth aspect remains crucial for Jalgaon Corporation as it has failed to win confidence of Jalgaonities on overall developmental aspects. Its recent budgetary taxes hike again is going to raise strong rage. Development with clear focus on development of infrastructural resources is Jalgaon's need of time that could change picture all the way. Political differences and credits rising for work done along with good funds backup are a few of key challenges for these authorities to tackle.

President completes MuktaiNagar tour, returns back to Delhi:

Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil yesterday visited Mehun, Kothli and New Muktai temples in MuktaiNagar taluka. She felt blessed and obliged by Darshan at all these places. She also visited newly inaugurated Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja District sports complex early in the morning. Her three days tour ended today as she moved for Aurangabad by a special helicopter on Sunday, 10AM.

Pulse Polio Vaccination today:
District health authorities are conducting second round of pulse polio vaccination today with a target of 4 Lakh 77,000 polio doses today. It has set up 1,912 booths with 5,214 staffing and 211 supervisors. Authorities have urged all parents to bring their children below 5 years of age at nearest booth. Jalgaon city has 173 booths and has target of 53,193 doses today.

Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil visiting Jalgaon had appealed all Governmental agencies to make sure that Central and State schemes reaches and benefits lowest part of society. She also focused on need for resolution of various social issues and farmer suicides.

National Legal Services mission approves 15 training sessions in Jalgaon district:
National Legal services mission has approved 15 legal and law related training sessions conducting in entire Jalgaon district. These sessions would be conducted district children welfare committee and district legal services tribunal. The first session was taken at Vavadde in Jalgaon taluka. Khandesh daughter and Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil are arriving in Jalgaon today for two days tour. Entire region is lighting decorated and cheering on her first arrival after becoming President. Entire Jalgaon city, MuktaiNagar areas load shedding have been stopped until 10th February on this arrival.

Entire Khandesh region is having Diwali times in this season. Region's long pending demands are getting green nodes from State and Central Authorities. Government machinery is at full pace 24x7 work, no political hindrances, and good funds backup by State and Central authorities.
For Jalgaon district this is blessing and dream true scenario. Jalgaon region never saw such a huge developmental work and pace in machinery. Announcement of President Arrival has drastically changed entire policy decisions and developmental work flow. Roads, infrastructure, dividers, Chowk decoration, District Stadium, Waghur dam, Government rest house and Government Offices are totally revamped. Jalgaon Airport now remains the only pending biggest hurdle for development of region. Entire Jalgaon city main government offices like Collectorate, Corporation and other offices on Rajpath are lighting decorated. City has large number of hoardings to beloved daughter of Khandesh.
Maharashtra State Government has announced 50% expenditure provision for Manmad - Dhule - Indore Railway line estimated completion in 3 year's time. The 350kms distance covers Manmad, Malegaon, Dhule, Shirpur, Nardana, Sendhwa, Mahu and Indore.
Earlier Railways ministry did put conditional completion of this demand with equal financial participation in expenditure by State. The 350kms distance has 192kms from Maharashtra and State is putting special provision for this requirement in upcoming budget.

Presidential tour schedule reworked: To inaugurate Stadium as well:
Jalgaon district administration has received final Minute-to-minute schedule for Presidential tour beginning tomorrow morning. The grand public honor ceremony would be of 1.30 hours. New schedule now has visit to District stadium from 17.35PM until 17.45PM followed by honor ceremony beginning at 18PM and ends by 19.30PM. New schedule does not include visit at Blind's school in Sindhi Colony.
The honor ceremony would have Khandesh honor committee offering memento to President followed by two MP and four MLA to offer memento. It includes Corporation memento by Mayor. Ceremony now includes honor by R. R. School and M. J. College (She is Alumnae of these institutes). Ceremony has 10minutes speech by President on this eve at 7PM.

Shendurni (Jamner) - Village of historic importance preserving icons:
Inspiring and catalyzing literary contributions are amongst cheering memories of Shendurni village in Jamner taluka. D. A. Tiwari, one of renowned literary icon worked at Shendurni and is one of key identities in 'Kavya-ratnavali' Collection. He has 18 collections on his name. He was born in 1887 and had wonderful bravery encouraging collection.

Cold waves intensify further:

Entire Jalgaon district is again caught in intense cold waves since last 48 hours. Temperature in region has fallen significantly to 6 degree Celsius in mere two days. This has resulted in chilling air waves all around throughout the day.

Traders strike get 100% response - No assurances from Government:
District businesses confederation called a day Octroi protest strike went 100% successful yesterday with 100% response from all layers of trades. Attachment of chemist and medical shops has badly hit citizens all around. Chemist association took off by 5PM and all medical shops remained open thereafter. Day long strike had traders taking 'Ghanta-Gadi' all around city and made Anti-Government and anti-policies protest announcements on continuing Octroi tax amidst VAT. This strike has resulted in over 100 Crores of losses in trades.

Corporation Budget 2008-09 - Taxes hikes amidst zero ground implementation:

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation administration has proposed increase in water taxes, waste taxes, and waste facilitation taxes along with many other additional facility oriented taxes. The Rs. 123 Crores Budget 2008-09 has proposed a net of 17.99 Crores of taxes hike.
Proposed hikes have 4% water taxes for zones where Corporation is not having direct supplies along with water supply facilitation tax of 10% on total taxable value. It also has 10% waste management tax from 1% of current level to help Corporation to build underground gutters estimated at Rs. 217 Crores cost.
Budget proposes 40% general taxes to that of current 20% that would give additional 13 Crores earning. Budget also has proposed 10% road taxes to that of 1.5%, tree plantation tax of 1% to that of 0.25% at current levels. Other hikes include license fees increase for hospitals, markets and meat shops and no changes in Octroi levels. Amongst other major proposals include selling of Fule market shopping complex blocks on ownership to earn 40 Crores.
Proposed expenditure side has 49 Crores for new projects, 29 Crores for repayment of loans, 32 Crores for public health, 6 Crores for education and 12 Crores for administration.

Business confederation proposed Octroi protest strike today:
Jalgaon district businesses confederation's Octroi protest traders strike is being observed in Jalgaon city today. Confederation has announced this decision as an intense measure to remove Octroi tax from throughout D category Corporations.
Today's protest strike includes 'Havanam' in Dana Bazaar with around 10,000 traders to participate with Paper written 'Octroi' to be put in 'Havanam'. Strike also has 'Options to Octroi - Options for Government' as theme for protest posted at all major trader zones in city. District chemists association has also announced participation in this strike. It has availed special emergency medicine service at its Chemist Bhavan in Jilha Peth.

Presidential tour - Main and sub-roads to remain closed for public:
Administration has announced closure of Main and subway roads from 08th until 10th February. All roads having proposed tour of President would remain closed during this period.
Major blocks and closure include Session Court Chowk to Akashwani Chowk to Mahabal remains closed for both sides. Pande Dairy Chowk to Swatantrya Chowk, M. J. College Highway Crossing to Swatantrya Chowk and Jilha Peth Police Station to Swatantrya Chowk roads on both sides, Ring Road turning from Hotel Sayali to L. N. High School Stadium Road and Khwajamiya Chowk to Session Court remains closed for public. The Ajanta Guest House entire area remains closed for public as it has Presidential stay.
Being major road blocks and closures in nature, Administration has urged citizens to co-operate for these blocks following security reasons and has also availed alternate ways.

Tapi Irrigation development circle's 66 projects in run:
Tapi Irrigation development circle office has initiated 66 projects estimated 4,940 Crores with likely expenditure of 1,073 Crores by this March end. The department was established in 1998 by State Government and it undertakes various irrigation related developmental works for Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Nashik districts. It has 124.68 Crores planned capital availability for current financial year.
It is currently working on 4 large, 8 medium, 48 mini projects and 6 micro irrigation related projects. It has received 77 Crores for Jalgaon district under Khandesh Development fund and has expedited 60.48 Crores.

Jalgaon Parliamentary constituencies restructure:

Jalgaon District's earlier two parliamentary constituencies have been totally restructured. Earlier Erandol constituency is merged into Jalgaon and a new constituency Raver has been setup. This newly setup Raver constituency has some part of Vidarbha namely Malkapur and Nandura region voters.
Delimitation commission proposed new structure has received green node. The newly announced structure for Jalgaon Parliamentary constituency now has 6 assembly constituencies area. It has Jalgaon city, Jalgaon rural (Jalgaon and Dharangaon Taluka), Amalner (Amalner and Parola Taluka's some areas), Erandol (Erandol and Parola taluka and some part of Bhadgaon taluka), Chalisgaon taluka, Pachora (Pachora taluka, Bhadgaon city and Taluka's some part).
The newly proposed Raver constituency has Chopda (Chopda taluka and Yaval Taluka - Kingaon, Sakli), Raver (Raver Taluka, Yaval and Faizpur Councils), Bhusawal taluka, Jamner (Jamner taluka, Pachora and Bhadgaon some areas), MuktaiNagar (Complete taluka, Bodwad Taluka), Malkapur (Complete taluka and Nandura taluka).

Kangner to Jamner - Systemised development:
Jamner city has changed and developed dramatically in last 40 years. The city had earlier famous name of 'Kangner' based on Kang River flowing from city. Jamner is also native place of Jalgaon's famous RL Gold Jewelers Group. City had ancient and historic identities like Shahnaj Gate in Shriram Peth along with Jahagirdar Wada on banks of Kang River. This Wada had 14kms historic secret underground pathway up to Motharkhede Digar. It also has ancient Vitthal Temple, Lord Rama temple and Jama mosque. City is well covered by four hills namely Sonarbadi, Rashi-Bhushi, Pahadi Baba and Dhagya.
Amongst other unique historic preservations include Pachora - Jamner railway like earlier running on coal engine. This train was started 90 years ago by British rulers and now has diesel engine running.

State Electricity distribution Company announces new load shedding plan:
State Electricity distribution Company has announced new Load Shedding schedule for Jalgaon division. Jalgaon division is marked in C division and would get 6 hours in urban and 12 hours in rural areas load shedding. It had 33% line loss in December. Pachora and Dharangaon divisions have been upgraded to B and C divisions respectively following significant steps taken to reduce losses in distribution. Rest divisions in district are in D category having 6.30 hours load shedding in urban and 12 hours in rural areas.

Bendale College wins - AIMS programming contest:
Agrawal Institute of management conducted state-level programming contest ended yesterday with Dr. G. D. Bendale Girl's College winning first prize. Pune's D.O.C.S. College won PG category first prize. Individual category winner includes First: Manoj Borse (Dhule), Second: Nikhil Mahale Nashik) and Viral Wala (Nashik) and Neha Talreja (Jalgaon) with Kavita Bhonle (Deogiri). PG Individual category winners include Manoj Joshi (Deogiri), Second: Anil Kumar (Pune), Third: Venkatesh Kuri.

District businesses confederation announces Octroi protest strike on Tuesday:

Jalgaon District businesses confederation has announced Octroi protest strike and a day closure of all traders in Jalgaon city on Tuesday, 05th February. Association has supported and followed Octroi removal committee decision to intensify its stir against Octroi following arrival of State budget session. State's other D category Corporation Trade unions including Dhule, Malegaon and others are also participating in this strike.
Interestingly every shop and trade establishment would bear a slogan "Options to Octroi - Options for Government" as protest theme marking it traders' last soft-tussle with full power.

State Board clarifies of no change in H.S.C. syllabus:
Maharashtra State board for Secondary and Higher Secondary education has clarified that there has been no change in H.S.C. Science course syllabus. The new syllabus in existence has no exclusions and no new inclusions. It has recently conducted a check of books on various subjects and found that books availed have differed syllabus with some having out of syllabus text and a few with existing syllabi not covered.

District electoral roll to be recompiled following constituency delimitation:
Jalgaon district would have updated electoral constituency structure for upcoming assembly and parliamentary elections. Administration has initiated its photo identity cards and roll preparation works in full pace and is likely to complete by May-2008. This process would follow electoral roll preparation.
Major changes as per constituency delimitation commission includes limiting Bhusawal assembly constituency to Bhusawal taluka only and excluding existing Mehrun, Nashirabad and Asoda from it. Raver constituency would have Yaval Taluka's some part, Yaval Municipal Council area, Faizpur Municipal Council area, Raver Council areas and Raver revenue zone along with Khiroda and Khanapur revenue zone areas.
Chopda constituency would have Chopda Taluka, Yaval's Kingaon, Sakli revenue zone. Amalner constituency would have Amalner city, taluka and Parola's Bahadurpur, Shelave revenue zone. Erandol would have Erandol city, Taluka's some part, Parola Council, Chorwad and Tamaswadi revenue zone along with Bhadgaon Taluka's some part.
Pachora constituency has Pachora city and Taluka excluding Kurhad revenue zone along with Bhadgaon, Kolgaon and Gondgaon from Bhadgaon taluka. Chalisgaon has complete city and taluka. Jamner has Jamner city, taluka and Pachora's Kurhad revenue zone and MuktaiNagar has Raver's Khirdi, Savda revenue zone villages, Savda council, MuktaiNagar taluka and Bodwad taluka.
New structure has diluted Parola and Yaval assembly constituencies and total restructuring has led to no use of existing electoral roll.

District administration to make test-run exercise for Presidential tour:
Jalgaon district administration is conducting a test run exercise for entire administration on 06th and 07th February. Exercise would have complete test of role functions right from start point until departure. It begins from arrival at Helipad, visits at grand honor ceremony, Blinds school and back at Helipad.
MuktaiNagar taluka's Old Kothli, New Kothli and Mehun's Muktai temple are being visited by President. Administration has prepared special helipad at Changdev and would test entire functionality on 06th followed by Jalgaon test-run on 07th February.

AIMS programming Contest at Chalisgaon today:
Agrawal Institute of Management Chalisgaon is conducting State-level 07th programming contest in C and C++. Earlier it conducted 40 Colleges Graduate and PG category 3,400 students written test and today's test would have 200 students practical test to decide winners.

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation standing committee is meeting today to discuss various provisions in administration proposed Annual Budget. Meet had 13 topics on agenda that includes road concreting of Saint Gadgebba Chowk to DP Road, Gujrati Galli, repairing of high mast lamps of 20 meters height in Akashwani Chowk, Court Chowk and Nelsan Mandela Chowk, to setup 21 inches valves on main supply lines near civil hospital, laying pipe lines in Kolhe Nagar, Aqusa Mosque area, repairs in various Corporation hospitals. It also includes construction of new crematorium in Pimprala, road concreting in various areas, buying tyres for vehicles of health department, lighting arrangements in Sindhi Colony.
Meet would end with discussion on provisions in Budget approval for year 2007-08 and New Year provisions by administration for 2008-09.

President honor committee appeals Jalgaonities for maximum participation:
Khandesh daughter and Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil grand public honor at Jalgaon Police Parade ground is open to all and the committee has urged participation in large numbers. The stage and seating arrangements work is in final phases at this location. Her entry gate has been named as India Gate while other entry and exit gates are named on Maharana Pratap, Shivaji Maharaj, Rani Laxmibai, Tipu Sultan and Sane Guruji, Child poet Thombre, Muktai, Sopandev and Changdev. Saint Gadge Baba village cleanliness drive results announced for Amalner, Chopda:
Authorities have completed survey of all villages in district under Saint Gadge Baba Village Cleanliness drive. It has announced first phase results for Amalner and Chopda Taluka for both cleanliness drive and backward communities living areas. The first prize comprises of Rs. 25,000 Cash, second worth Rs. 15,000 and third worth 10,000 along with best school award worth Rs. 10,000 and best Anganwadi award of Rs. 5,000.

Meteorological department estimates further fall in temperature:
State meteorological department in its report has estimated further dip in mercury in the region. Entire Jalgaon district is again caught in intense cold waves since yesterday morning. Meteorological department has recorded 7 degrees temperature yesterday morning.
