31st July:
Federation Cup National fencing competition Day 2:
Fencing Association of India endorsed first federation cup national
fencing competition day 2 went on cheerfully with dominance of Manipur.
Manipur players have won 5 out of 6 Gold medals in Individual category.
Maharashtra team player Ajinkya Dudhar won bronze medal in epee category.
Competition has participation of 16 State players.
Various courses regular classes from 01st August:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon has reported starting up of regular
classes of M. Ed., M. P. Ed., M. A. (Music), M. A. (drama), M. Lib.
and I.S. from 01st August 2007. It has already started regular classes
of M. Sc. Most of the courses started late are new introduction to
NMU Curricula.
State marathon competition preparations complete:
Jalgaon District Athletics Association has finished all preparations
for District level Inter-school and State level marathon competition.
It would have participation of athletes from Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar,
Nashik, Yavatmal, Akola, Pune, Amravati, Mumbai, Nagpur, Chandrapur
and Aurangabad district. Until now, 869 athletes have registered in
open category and 1,356 in school category. There is a mega 250 personnel
team to manage this marathon.
District Badminton Association selection test completed:
Jalgaon District Badminton association has selected Jalgaon team for
upcoming Inter-District team in Under-13, 16, and 19 category in boys,
girls, male, female category. In all 85 players participated in test.
30th July:
Government Engineering College gets Computer and Electrical Engineering:
Government Engineering College Jalgaon has received a fresh approval
for starting up of Computer and Electrical Engineering with 60 seats
each. College already has Instrumentation, Electronics and Tele-Communications
along with Mechanical Engineering. Starting up of these two more branches
from this academic year would facilitate Jalgaon region students with
further uplift.
District bricks business in trouble:
Construction name originates need of bricks and current Government
policies and increasing royalty has led to skyrocketing rates of bricks.
State's recent changes in revenue collection policy, sand and minerals
revised rates along with natural calamities have led to troubles for
this segment.
Rivers bank is key location for such a segment and it usually begins
every Dashehra and continues until 15th June. One has to get Tahsil
and Village Panchayat permissions to start this work. Bricks manufacturing
industry is facing acute manpower shortage and has around 1,000 bricks
manufacturing and processing units in Bhusawal and around 90+ in Chalisgaon.
Kurha Kakoda (MuktaiNagar) and Malkapur areas are key labour suppliers
for this industry.
Amalner, Parola, Chalisgaon and Bhusawal are four key locations of
this industry in Jalgaon. Bricks are being sold at spot delivery and
home delivery rates and varies from 1,200 to 2,100 depending on location
and availability.
Pulses, Sugar and Oil continues dearer trend:
Trade Markets continue to witness upward even though Ashadhi Ekadashi
is over. Farmers are anxiously waiting good raining to get assurance
of good crop. Groundnut and allied Ekadashi Fast related products
had record rates this year. Sugar also hiked up in last week along
with pulses. Vegetables market also continues to be in rising trend
with low arrival of fruits and vegetables.
Nikhil Mahajan and Ashish Tiwari selected for National Shooting
competition:
Maharashtra team has selected L. N. High School students Nikhil Ravindra
Mahajan and Ashish Kailash Tiwari in ongoing All India Inter-School
Shooting competition at Noida. Both will participate in Open Site
Air Rifle category.
29th July:
Greetings on eve of Guru Pornima
Rs. 17 Crores works under Khandesh MLA funds:
Khandesh region entire MLA constituencies' development fund has been
utilised during 2006-07 except that of Bhusawal following Election
Code of Conduct enforcement. Khandesh MLA received Rs. 16 Crores 87
Lakhs 68,000 funds. Out of these funds 7 Lakhs fund went back following
no utilisation.
State has recently enhanced MLA constituency development funds. Jalgaon
District 12 MLA and State Council members utilised 11 Crores 61 Lakhs
22,397 funds that includes 9 Crores 55 Lakhs and 60,450 for Jalgaon
District. Most of works done includes gutters, road repairs and patching,
concreting works along with pickup shades, public toilets, sports
competitions, public halls and gardens with crematorium works.
Traffic control committee meeting review:
Jalgaon City traffic control committee met yesterday to discuss various
issues relating to traffic in Jalgaon city. Committee president and
district police superintendent chaired meet having participation of
Corporation Planning Committee Head, City Engineer, Jilha Peth Police,
City Traffic Police and LCB unit.
Jalgaon city has more of Auto rickshaws compared to Rickshaw stands
and as a result, it leads to traffic discrepancies. Committee has
suggested twice penalty charges to Rickshaw owners and recommending
cancellation of permission if found guilty third time. Committee also
recommended Corporation and City Traffic Police joint drive to take
into custody two wheelers not parked properly or causing traffic disturbances.
It has also urged City Traffic Police to regularise Old Bus Stand,
Tower Chowk area traffic and immediately open Police Station unit
in Mahabal Colony, Sharda Colony, Samta Nagar, Vidyut Colony and Sambhaji
Nagar. It further urged Corporation to employ one officer and six
staff on permanent basis for its routinely required security works
during anti-encroachment drives etc.
Jalgaon all set for State Marathon competition:
Jalgaon District Athletics Association has made all arrangements for
State and District School Marathon competition. It has received entries
from Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, Nashik, Amravati, Aurangabad, Akola,
Mumbai, Pune, Buldhana and Yavatmal. This includes 632 athletes with
253 in female category, 972 schoolchildren and 422 in Schoolgirls
category. Competition attracts Cash Prizes and trophy.
28th July:
ZP General Body Meeting review:
Jalgaon District Council (ZP) met yesterday to discuss various topics
on its agenda. The body has approved 18 topics in mere 1.30 hours.
Amongst major discussion and topics included increasing water tax
by 20% in public water supply schemes in 192 villages, buying new
vehicles for administration, TCL powder buying along resolution to
honour Pratibhatai Patil on being elected as President of India.
Load shedding destructs life:
State Electricity distribution Company recently restarted hectic load
shedding has started showing grave effects on public systems. MIDC
water supply project has stopped drinking water supply following discrepancies
in electricity supplies. As a result MIDC area, living Jalgaonities
are facing severe drinking water shortage. The unit faced hectic power
cuts and electricity down for 16 hours.
The special electricity supply unit faced technical problems discontinuing
supply. This led to stopping of machinery pulling water from Tapi
River and water purifying plant. Company has reinstated supply after
16 hours. District Civil Hospital and such allied units continue to
be at worst state due to this electricity load shedding and there
seems no major policy to control such issue.
27th July:
Ashadhi Ekadashi celebrated in Jalgaon:
Entire Jalgaon region yesterday celebrated Ashadhi Ekadashi festivity
with cheer and devotion. All temples including old Jalgaon city's
Vitthal Temple, Pimprala Vitthal Temple, Mayadevi Nagar region temple
were houseful with devotees for Darshan.
Pimprala Rath festivity remained key attraction of the Ekadashi with
thousands of devotees taking Rath. Rath ferried around entire Jalgaon
city. The Pandharpur-clone assumed Shendurni also had huge rush of
devotees for Rath festivity.
Jalgaon Corporation plans to sell its land:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation is in plans of selling out its
owned Old Municipal Council Building land, Sane Guruji Hospital vacated
land and Khwajamiya slum vacated land. Ruling party and administration
is proposing this plan in upcoming General Body Meeting on 03rd August
2007. Meeting would have 7 topics on its agenda.
Amongst other topic, include change of reservation in CS# 224, 311,
309, 307 in Jalgaon Shivar to housing project, change of allocated
budgetary funds of Rs. 775 Lakhs from housing, building development
funds to roads and gutters repairs and development works. It would
also discuss formation of a special body to ease management aspects,
approve appointment on various vacant posts in Corporation.
Corporation's sudden decision to sell outs its owned prime area land
has surprised Jalgaonities. Future news and updates from Corporation
on possible rates for this property and prospective buyers is yet
awaited.
Heavy raining in Bhusawal, Raver and MuktaiNagar:
Bhusawal, Raver and MuktaiNagar Taluka witnessed heavy raining yesterday
evening. Raining began around 8PM in night and continued for hours.
Good raining has eased temperature in the region. Jalgaon city also
witnessed showery medium raining yesterday night.

Ashadhi Ekadashi Greetings from Team Ejalgaon.com: Pimprala Rath festivity
today:
Pimprala and entire Jalgaon region has turned 'Vitthalmayi' today
with Pimprala Rath festivity. Festivity has rich tradition of 135
years and is known as replica of Pandharpur for Khandesh region. Rath
today would ferry around entire Jalgaon city and end up at temple.
All temples in region have various religious activities and events
today to celebrate Ekadashi. People here fast today and end fast in
evening after Rath Darshan.
Heavy Monsoon raining in district:
Jalgaon city along with Bhusawal, Yaval, Jamner, Chalisgaon, Pachora,
aMalner, Parola and Chopda Taluka have witnessed heavy to medium raining
yesterday evening. Lightning followed by frequent electricity cuts
and high winds marked arrival of raining. Raining has pleased farming
community anxiously waiting for good raining for standing Kharip crop.
Bank of Rajasthan opens Jalgaon branch:
Banking Industry is all set to revolutionise in Jalgaon district with
arrival of another private Indian banker Bank of Rajasthan. It has
455 branches all over India and wonderful presence throughout Rajasthan
with 399 online branches. Jalgaon branch is opened in front of Nutan
Maratha College and has started its functionality. Bank aims at attracting
depositors group largely with its attractive deposit schemes like
Aravali, Jan Hiteshi, Nidhi Sanchay and flexi deposit schemes. StanChart
Bank is all set to enter Jalgaon unit with RBI approval part clear.
Corporation standing committee meeting review:
Corporation standing committee yesterday met and discussed 20 topics
on its agenda. Committee has availed Rs. 7 Crores fund for Roads and
gutters development from allocated Rs. 7.72 Crores for Housing Scheme
in budget 2007-08. Committee has also passed resolution to honour
Pratibhatai Patil on being elected as President of India during her
next visit to Jalgaon.
Amongst other discussions and approvals included septic tanks for
Ward#18, computers purchased for Town-Planning department, fogging
machine and other stuff.
National Swordplay competition at Jalgaon on 29th July:
Jalgaon District Swordplay association and Krida Bharti along with
State Swordplay Association and Fencing Association of India are jointly
conducting first Federation Cup National Swordplay Competition at
Jalgaon. Competition is from 29th July until 31st July is at Eklavya
Sports Complex in M. J. College. It is likely to have participation
of National and International Players.
25th July:
Jain Saint Bhuvratna Vijayji Maharaj's fifth day of hunger protest:
Jain Saint Bhuvratna Vijayji Maharaj began hunger protest continued
on fifth day yesterday. He is demanding rolling back of State Order
to possess 448,000 Hindu Community trust properties in State. Earlier
State General Administration department announced including Jain Community
in Minority community wide its order dated 07th May 2004. This new
notice to posses back Jain Trusts properties is against this minority
status aspect and has no legal grounds. He has announced continuing
hunger strike until they receive letter from State in this regards.
State Electricity Distribution Company restarts Load Shedding:
After a fortnight of relief from load shedding, State electricity
Distribution Company has restarted its hectic power cuts throughout
Jalgaon district. New power cuts and load shedding plans have daily
7 hours in urban and 14 hours in rural areas in two shifts. Jalgaon
City has daily requirement of 660MW and Authorities are currently
doing 392MW load shedding. This includes 160MW in urban and 285MW
in rural areas.
District Players participate in National Junior Tennis Ball Cricket
competition:
Jalgaon District's eight players have participated in recently conducted
15th National Junior Tennis Ball Cricket competition at Nagpur. Maharashtra
team defeated Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Assam teams. It lost to Goa
by 22 runs in semi-final match. Jalgaon players Mukul Dhake, Khushal
Deshmukh (Bhusawal), Vishal Chaudhari, Swapnil Sonawane (Bodwad),
Niraj Kahane, Rahul Patil, Chetan Kapure and Ashish Patil have shown
wonderful play.
24th July:
Banana rates continue to dip:
Khandesh region banana rates continue to dip down since last few days.
Region banana having touched milestone of 720 Rupees per quintal on
24th April 2007 is now at Rs. 230 per quintal with difference of Rs.
6 in just 3 months. Yaval and Raver Taluka popularly known for its
quality banana producing have witnessed huge financial losses because
of cyclonic winds and flooding in recent times. This dipping of rates
has further added to their woes
Monsoon raining arrives back with cyclonic winds in Bodwad:
Jalgaon District's MuktaiNagar, Jamner and Bodwad Taluka yesterday
witnessed monsoon raining after 8-10 days interval. Bodwad Taluka's
Amadgaon region witnessed cyclonic winds severely damaging standing
crop and electricity supplies. The wind losses are yet to be assessed
by administration. Jalgaon city also witnessed showers in morning
followed by cool air breezes following raining in nearby districts
and region. Bhusawal along with Yaval, Raver Taluka have also reported
showery raining.
Jalgaon's Madhu Totla in Home Minister Series of Zee Marathi:
Jalgaon's homemaker Madhu Totla and her husband Subhash Totla are
participating in Zee Marathi conducted Home Minister Serial. This
serial would be in air today at 6.30PM on Zee Marathi.
Diarrhea cases reported in District:
Monsoon raining has arrived with a set of chronic and routine waterborne
diseases in district. Jalgaon District Civil Hospital has receives
15 to 20 cases of diarrhea in recent 4-5 days and is having entry
of such 4-5 every day. Jalgaon city's remote and slum areas along
with many of internal areas continues to receive polluted drinking
water supply and has mosquitoes in larger number due to low to no
cleanliness being maintained by administration.
23rd July:
Pratibhatai President Selection festive cheers Jalgaon:
"Pratibhatai Kaun hai - Bharat Ki Shan hai" echoed all around
Jalgaon yesterday with all Communities ladies groups participating
in Gaurav Yatra to celebrate Tai's election as first lady President
of India. Festivity had participation of around 50 women groups and
associations with everyone enthusiast to celebrate Women empowerment
on Country's highest post.
Chopda Sugar factory election generates political heat:
Chopda Sugar factory election date is arriving closer. This has lead
to many of political groups and parties gearing up their preparations
and campaigning. The factory began its operations 17 years ago and
now has 116 Crores Loans as compared to earlier 27 Crores taken for
setup. Factory has good inflow of crop for processing and producing
sugar and byproducts. This election is likely to bring back memories
of Bhusawal Municipal Council election with new political equations
coming in existence to get a wining share.
Maheshwari Trophy 2007 completes amidst enthusiastic participation:
Pimprala and Prem Nagar region Maheshwari branch conducted Late H.
Rathi Maheshwari Trophy 2007 competition ended yesterday amidst enthusiastic
participation. Full day event at JDCC hall had participation of around
400 artists in various cultural programs from 11 groups. Ayodhya Nagar
MIDC Area Maheshwari group won first prize followed by Maheshwari
Community group Erandol winning second and Jilha Peth region group
winning third along with Balaji Peth, Prem Nagar and Shendurni Group
winning consolation prizes.

high spirits:
Khandesh daughter Pratibhatai Patil election as first Lady President
of India has raise high spirits and Diwali times for entire Khandesh.
21st July 2007 has now being written into golden pages of Jalgaon's
history with her election as President. Entire region is delighted
and cheerful on her selection and now look forward to her oath ceremony
on 25th July. Jalgaon's around 150-200 activists and supporters have
reached Delhi for her oath ceremony.

District milk Union announces highest rates for buffalo milk:
Jalgaon District Milk Union has announced highest ever rates to buffalo
milk from 23rd July. New rates are Rs. 240 per Kilo fat (6 FAT, 9
SNF Buffalo milk) at Rs. 14.40 per KG. This is highest ever rates
announced and availed by District milk union and is likely to add
to overall milk collection during low availability time in coming
period.
Central Government announces 1800 rate for cotton:
Central Government has announced its crop rates for Kharip Plantation
2007-08. This has Rs. 1800 rate for medium quality cotton and 2030
for high length threaded cotton. Amongst other rates announced are
rice a grade - 675, rice general - 645, jwar hybrid - 600, jwar Maldandi
- 620, Bajra - 600, Corn - 620, Soyabeen yellow - 1050.

Tapi River Birth festivity today:
Jalgaon District's one of major water resource and Sun's daughter
Tapi River's birth is being celebrated today in the region. Many of
villages living on banks will perform Pooja today.
Tapi River has originated at Mulatlai in Baitul district of MadhyaPradesh
(MP) and is spread in MadhyaPradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. It benefits
to Jalgaon District largely and has turned Jalgaon as one of best
agricultural rich districts. Tapi River has 130kms length in Jalgaon
district and has a total length of 740kms from origin until ocean.
The River's only dam is located at Hatnur in Bhusawal Taluka of Jalgaon
district and came into existence in 1982. This dam has 50-50% reservation
for agriculture and drinking water. The dam canals benefits 7,700
hectares land under irrigation while River water benefits 2,500 hectares
irrigable land. It also avails water to 10,000 hectares farms in Rubby
season.
Tapi River has widespread in Raver, MuktaiNagar, Yaval, Bhusawal and
Chopda Taluka and avails around 50,000 hectares area Banana cultivation
opportunities to the region. It has flooded in 1944, 1959, 1977, 1998
and 2006 along with this year's 8th July 2007.
Ancient Indian literary has confirmed Tapi River's birth on Ashadha
Shuddha Saptami (Rath Saptami). This region was earlier known as 'Kana
Pradesh' and had Tapi River as one of most beautiful natural resource.
This led to arrival of many of historic icons in the ancient times.
It included Lord Rama's ancestor King Aja meditation place at Ajnad
(Raver), Uddhalak Rishi at Udali, Shrung Rishi at Singat, Lomesh Rishi
at Lumkheda, Kapil Rishi at Kandari (Bhusawal). Lord Rama had arrived
in this region to protect these great ancient times saints from evil
powers.
Exam Results - Results and technology implementation:
Government Polytechnic Jalgaon students stumbled down when they took
first look at their results on MSBTE
website on 13th July and actual results on 17th July. In all 350
students appeared from Jalgaon GP for IT, Computer and Electrical.
Result received had 76.61% in computers, 60.47% in I.T. and mere 39.29%
in Electrical.
Around 50% of students in electrical have been failed spreading rage
on board for erroneous checking of exam sheets. Moreover, board has
set yesterday, 20th July as last date of applying for rechecking of
papers. This led to further rush and disorder amongst students and
parents leading to clashes with GP administration. Students have demanded
complete rechecking of all student papers before BE direct second
year admission process initiates.
Government institutions seem to be loosing practical approach in technology
implementation in results and application kind of stuffs. It either
is too frightened by its own corrupt machinery or has no vision to
make process successful. Most of such implementations are at heavier
charges to students rather being cheaper due to lower work force involvements.
Either all processes at this stage for admission form, preference
form or results display involves too much of paper works along with
filling and have no ease for target customer to get it done easily.
20th July:
Edible groundnut oil rates hikes up:
Edible oil rates yesterday have shown rocketing rates following higher
exports of groundnut and decreased stocks. Edible groundnut oil hiked
up by 15 Rupees per kg to 78 Rupees while Soyabeen oil increased by
4-5 Rs. Soyabeen oil rates earlier at 47-48 have now reached 52 Rs.
and groundnut oil rates leveled at 62-63 have suddenly touched 78
marks.
Gangamai Sugar factory administration takes charge of Vasant:
Gangamai administration yesterday took over Vasant Co-operative Sugar
factory charge yesterday. It has begun hefty repairs and maintenance
works to machinery down and off since last 10 years. JDCC Bank has
leased this factory to Gangamai on five years lease agreement. Earlier
it possessed this factory following huge defaulted loans.
NMU Central School starts CBSE Class XI:
North Maharashtra University based Central School has started CBSE
Class XI Science faculty course beginning with this financial year.
Minimum Admission criteria are 70% in SSC Exam.
NMU has announced implementation of Eklavya Educational Aid service
for weaker and needy section to grab opportunities ahead. This scheme
is available for Graduates, PG courses and is being availed through
Jalgaon Janta Bank, Bank of Baroda in form of 70% of educational expenses.
NMU would repay this loan amount interest during academics.

Government plan to setup low-cost Jalgaon Airport:
Ministry of Civil Aviation is considering its plan to introduce tier-2
and tier-3 low-cost airport in Jalgaon along with Shirdi, Akola and
Solapur. A no-frills airport is built at a minimum cost and allows
operations of small jets as well as slightly bigger aircrafts like
Boeing 737 or Airport A320. Investment in such a airport project is
around Rs. 40 Crores excluding land cost.
Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) is a special purpose
arm setup by State government to execute multi-modal hubs, airports
and SEZ.
District MP receives Rs. 2 Crore development fund:
Jalgaon District MPs have received Rs. 2 Crores development fund for
various works in Jalgaon and Erandol parliamentary constituencies.
Both MP have submitted development plan documents to administration
and would shortly initiate these works.
Dana Bazaar traders VAT protest strike evokes 100% response:
Entire Dana bazaar remained closed yesterday to protest VAT enforcement
on essential commodities permanently. Federation of Associations of
Maharashtra announced this decision of protest and Jalgaon traders
supported this. State is yet to announce its decision on this aspect.
18th July:
Vasant Sugar Factory leasing process formalities complete:
Vasant Co-operative sugar factory leasing by JDCC Bank to Gangamai
sugar factory leasing process formalities are complete. Gangamai Officers
yesterday submitted these documents to Taluka Registrar for processing.
Earlier Gangamai submitted highest bid quote for getting Vasant on
5 years lease agreement. These documents once approved from Directorate
of sugar control would go to State administration for final approval.
Restarting of factory would pump in good employment; utilize farmer
sugarcane in this zone.
Railways announce special train to Pandharpur:
Central Railways Bhusawal division has announced special train to
Pandharpur. These trains are scheduled on 22nd and 24th July from
Amravati and Khamgaon stations. Both trains returns on 27th and 28th
July and have halt at Jalgaon, Bhusawal and all major stations in
division. State road Transport Corporation has announced additional
buses to control increasing traffic due to Ashadhi festive season.
Police Headquarter team wins Sports competition:
Police Headquarter team has won district police organized sports competition
in both category. In all 250+ police participated in this competition
having racing in various lengths and category along with football,
hockey, judo, karate and others.
17th July:
Girana region farms under troubles following lowest raining:
Jalgaon District's Chalisgaon, Pachora and Bhadgaon Taluka located
in Girana dam zone are under trouble following lowest raining until
now in this season. There has been no raining in this zone in last
10 days. Farmers here are demanding immediate release of water from
right canal to save this standing Kharip plantation. These Taluka
have just 16-24% raining as compared to above 30% raining in rest
district.
District administration to re-conduct Electoral Photo Roll listing
process:
Jalgaon District Administration has announced re-conducting of entire
photo electoral roll listing process following lower turnout in its
earlier conducted process during 12th February until 12th March. Mere
54% voters registered for their photo identity. Administration plans
to conduct roll photo update process for rest 11 assembly constituencies
in September. It has urged all eligible voters to visit nearest booth
and update photo listing.
Nashik Divisional Libraries to get 4.75 Crores fund:
Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, Nashik and Ahmednagar District based libraries
would receive a special fund of Rs. 4 Crores 75 Lakhs 50,000. There
are 787 libraries in the division out of which 108 are closed. This
fund is distributed in August and February sessions based on receipt
of annual reports by respective library. There are 21 non-functional
and closed libraries out of 181 in Jalgaon District. District's 13
libraries are eligible for this fund.
16th July:
Secondary Schools Teachers to go on strike on 24th and 25th July:
Divisional Secondary School Teachers Association is participating
in its called two days token strike demanding various aspects for
secondary schools and teachers.
District Police organised Sports competition:
Jalgaon District Police is conducting its second annual sports competition
beginning today at its parade ground. Competition would have participation
of eight sub-divisional 205 players in Wrestling, swimming, boxing,
Judo, Karate, Weight Lifting and other competitions.
Jalgaon team leads in divisional Cross-Country competition:
Jalgaon District Athletics association players have shown fabulous

Tapi River flooding losses totals to Rs. 6 Crores:
Tapi River mega flooding caused by heavy water discharge in Hatnur
dam has caused a total loss of Rs. 6 Crores in 19 Villages 306 hectares
area to banana, guava and many other Kharip Plantation.
Tapi and Purna River flooded on 08th July due to heavy raining and
caused losses to many of villages. District Agricultural Authority
has completed its losses assessment and losses have now mounted to
Rs. 6 Crore 3 Lakhs 75 Thousands 59 Rupees to 503 farmers.
State Traders to go on token strike on Wednesday, 18th July:
Federation of Associations of Maharashtra Traders has announced a
day token strike on Wednesday, 18th July as a protest to imposition
of VAT Tax on life necessity grains and commodities. District Businesses
confederation has supported this decision and all trader associations
are supporting this strike.
Maharashtra State Sales Tax Department has announced imposition of
VAT Tax of 4% from 01st October 2007 on all grains, pulses, rice,
flour and other essentials. Earlier it relaxed this imposition for
6 months from 01st April until 30th September. Federation has demanded
permanent waiver of VAT tax on these commodities as taxing would cause
inflation and higher cost of living to common person.
Jalgaon District Polices 90% transfer requests accepted:
District Police Administration has accepted Jalgaon Policemen requests
submitted for transfers to various destinations. It has received 318
applications and approved 90% applications. Police Administration
will public this listing on Monday.

District Bridges in expansion phase:
Jalgaon District has populace increase of 27 Lakhs in last 100 years.
This has led to significant load on public roads, bridges and overall
traffic. This has led to State Public Works Department initiating
expansion of existing older bridges on various Rivers and surroundings.
To begin with, Tapi River oldest bridge in Bhusawal work has been
started on BOT basis. Smallest bridge has 6 meters to 30 meters dimension
on Nala and supportive lines.
Tapi River Bridge in Bhusawal was started in 1935 and has 29 blocks.
Waghur River Bridge near Neri, Girana River Bridge near Nimkhedi has
been closed to public and new Bridges have taken place for traffic
balancing. District's other bridges will soon undergo expansion.
There are in all 846 Bridges of three types. Type-1 includes 6 meters
to 30 meters Bridges and they are 377 in number, Type-2 includes 30
to 250 meters Bridges numbering 62 in count and type-3 includes above
250 meters Bridges numbered 7 in count. There are 14 bridges in National
Highway Number 14 and Bridge near Idgaon on Tapi River is based on
cantilever stalker technique and measures 390 meters and is most costly
bridge for Jalgaon. Tapi River deep-water base requires deeper foundation
thereby costing more.
"Securitisation Act applicable on Co-operative Banks"

Aurangabad bench of Mumbai High Court has verdict of applicability
of Securitisation Act on Co-operative Bank in petition filed by Jalgaon
People's Co-operative Bank. This would empower Co-operative Banks

Jalgaon District Players participating from State team in National
Roll Ball Skating competition at Panchkula (Haryana) are demonstrating
wonderful play. Maharashtra Under-14 and Under-17 teams are leading
in competition. State Under-14 girl's team has defeated Rajasthan
by 5-0, Chandigarh by 1-0 while boys' team has defeated Rajasthan

Strong opposition to Corporation Administration on going for new Shopping
Complex:
Corporation standing committee recently approved construction work
of a new shopping complex project named Vivekananda Shopping Complex
at Khwajamiya Slum vacated space. Opposition party in Corporation
is planning to go in legal battle over this issue.
The "City of Shops" as quoted by Consumer Forum Head during
his Jalgaon visit would get its 26th Shopping complex live and functional
as and if taken ahead. Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation is only
governing body throughout State to own such a huge number of shopping
complexes. None of the Complex is in good order of basic resources
and facilities. Shopping here even don't have proper ventilation causing
extensive heating during summer times and none has attached/ well
equipped resources like toilets, drinking waters. Proposed complex
is of 8,120 square meters and model is based on recently followed
shopping malls trend and would have annual rentals of 19 Lakhs 48
Thousands and 800 Rupees.
Reason to rejoice: Dhule - Jalgaon - Bhusawal Four Lane Highway
work begins:
National Highway Authority has received signals of initiating Dhule
- Jalgaon - Bhusawal Four Lane Express Highway Works. Following directives
in this Four Lane works, all properties on Highway touch roads would
have to leave 75 meters space from centre of existing road on both
sides. No one would be allowed to construct in this space following
the circular received by Highway Authorities. Initiating of this work
has spread rejoice amongst Jalgaonities as this would considerably
reduce Jalgaon - Mumbai road travel by at least 2 hours and solve
traffic jam issues. Authorities have begun checking of road boundaries
and actual work is yet to begin.
Monsoon flooding causes Rs. 1.50 Crores losses to Raver Taluka:
Hatnur dam heavy water discharge caused flooding has damaged 1.50
Crores standing Kharip plantation in Raver Taluka as per primary estimates.
Tahsil office losses estimating work continue in full pace in 8 villages
of Raver.
Report further explains losses to 133 farmers' 78.63R hectare area
amounting to Rs. 1 Crore 45 Lakhs 39,315. Most of crops damaged include
Banana and guava in Kharip plantation. Administration last year availed
Rs. 14.50 Crores in form of losses towards flooding damages to various
affected, their families after death and farms.

Monsoon flooding damages 1,500 hectares of farming:
Tapi and Purna Rivers flooding in Raver, MuktaiNagar, Chopda Taluka
has damaged 1,544 hectares standing crop in 58 villages. Primary reports
from respective Tahsil offices have estimated these figures. Raver
losses list has 12 villages' 300 farmers facing damages in 600 hectares
of land amounting to around Rs. 2 Crores. MuktaiNagar Taluka has 198.94
hectares land standing crop damages to 231 farmers in 15 villages
worth Rs. 20 Lakhs. Chopda Taluka has 31 villages 756 hectares land
facing these issues. Raining has stopped in almost all areas in district.
Hatnur dam's 5 out of 41 gates have been closed.
Corporation standing committee approves Vivekananda Shopping Complex:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation standing committee has approved
Rs. 14 Crores budget Vivekananda shopping complex at Khwajamiya slum
area. It has approved tender rate at 1364.14 per square meter for
construction works. Committee discussed 18 topics on its agenda. Corporation
has approved this work on BOT basis and would have Parking facility.
Lendi Nala bridge works about to complete:
Lendi Nala Bridge on Asoda road is in final phases of completion and
would soon get traffic on uprooted. This Bridge connects Jalgaon city
with 8 villages including Asoda, Bhadli etc. It took two years for
completion. Corporation approved this work under 11th Finance Commission
funds.
R. R. Student Nikhil Patil scores 17th Rank in India:
R. R. School Class VII student Nikhil Jayvant Patil has secured 17th
rank throughout India in Pune based Centre for Popularisation of Science
conducted National Mathematics Exam. He scored 98 out of 100 marks
and is ranked second throughout State and top from District.

Administration forms special Panels for assessing flooding losses:
Administration has formed special groups for assessing losses caused
due to flooding in Tapi, Purna Rivers in Raver, MuktaiNagar and Chopda
Taluka. Farms in these regions are still water logged delaying beginning
of works.
Meanwhile raining has turned low to none in entire region. This has
helped in significant lowering of water in Rivers and dam. Hatnur
dam's 11 gates are still open. Raver, Muktai Taluka had 11 villages
facing this flood along with KhediBhokari in Chopda due to heavy water
discharge in Hatnur dam.
Mumbai High Court rejects Khandesh Mill Developing Plea:
Mumbai High Court bench has ordered labour Commissioner not to avail
No-Objection Certificate to developing of Khandesh Mill Complex. Mumbai
based company has taken up Khandesh Mill Complex location and has
paid 7 Crores 49 Lakhs to liquidation authority towards Bank dues
and labour payments due worth Rs. 2.22 Crores. The Company earlier
submitted its proposal to Labour Commissioner requesting to approve
and avail NOC for construction works in this location.
District population increases by 27 Lakhs in 100 years:
Jalgaon District populace statistics suggests increase of population
by 27 Lakhs in 100 years from 1901 to 2001 averaging 50,000 increase
per year. District Statistics office availed statistics further suggests
increase of mere 15% population in last decade from 1991 until 2001.
Department further estimates District population to cross 40 Lakhs
mark in 2011 census.
Most annoying statistical factor here is male-female ratio in District.
Jalgaon District just 932 female to 1,000 male populations. District
population density is 313 people per square kilometre area. Jalgaon
District has literacy ratio of 76.06% in all with male literacy ratio

District shooting team wins Bronze in State competition:
Jalgaon District Association players Millind Deore has won two Gold
Medals along with Ashish Tiwari winning a bronze medal in recently
played 47th State Shooting competition at Nashik. District's six players
participated in this competition. Millind won Open Site Air rifle
in both Senior and junior categories while Ashish won bronze in same
competition.

Monsoon flooding situation normalise as raining stops:
Monsoon mega arrival knocked raining followed by flooding is normalising
as rain has stopped in the region. District Parent Minister yesterday
visited Ajnad (Raver) and accessed situation there. Administration
Plans to migrate people living in Raver, MuktaiNAgar Taluka on Tapi
River banks living after Monsoon to avoid such future calamities.
Tapi and Purna Rivers yesterday had mega flooding that led to opening
up of all gates of Hatnur dam. It caused water logging in many villages
in Raver, MuktaiNagar Taluka. MadhyaPradesh Tapi and Purna origin
areas have lower to no rains now and therefore flow has normalised.
Tapi River flooding has caused heavy losses to standing crop in farms
on bank of River. Farmers here have demanded immediate help from administration.
Corporation to take insurance of 17-story Municipal Complex:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation administration is planning to take
insurance of 17-story Municipal Corporation building as a safety measure
from continued hoax bomb calls, natural calamities, fire and earthquakes.
JDCC Bank having mortgaged this property quoted this to Corporation
along with requirement of having joint name of Corporation and JDCC
Bank.
Corporation standing committee would discuss this issue and approve
the same. Corporation has mortgaged this property to JDCC Bank with
valuation of 60.70 Crores and likely insurance value of Rs. 19.69
Lakhs. Standing committee meeting would also discuss various other
issues like approval of contractor for construction of Vivekananda
Shopping Complex on empty space of Khwajamiya Chowk and other road
repair works.

Khandesh under Monsoon showers:
Entire Khandesh region continues to witness showery raining since
last 48 hours. Raining has led to opening up Hatnur dam all 41 gates.
This has caused flooding situation in MuktaiNagar, Raver Taluka villages.
District Administration has sent two boats to Raver and three to MuktaiNagar
and special help groups to Tahsil offices. Raver, Chopda, MuktaiNagar
and Bhusawal Taluka are under high water pressure in Tapi River following
heavy water discharge.
Ajnad, Nimbol in Raver Taluka are fully water logged with Hatnur water
while Khedi-Bhokari in Chopda has 600 acres land under water. Mendhode,
Patondi, Pimpri villages in MuktaiNagar are flooded. Administration
has stopped traffic on Hatnur dam due to heavy discharging of water
going on in dam. District Administration is also using BSNL SMS Alerts
for updates on status to all Jalgaon District mobile users. Administration
has estimated 11 villages to witness flooding situation in Raver and
MuktaiNagar Taluka. It has shifted 164 families to safer places and
alert Army.
Duskheda, Nimbol, Ajnad, Vitve and Ainpur from Raver Taluka and Patonda,
Mendhode, Narvel, Anturli and Ghodasgaon from MuktaiNagar are in danger
state of likely flooding. Nearby Dhule and Nandurbar Districts are
also set on high alerts.
District Markets in down state following continued raining:
Continued showery to medium raining in district has led to overall
downturn to markets. Oil, Ghee are on upper trend while Pulses are
on flat and spices are in good demand. Raining has led to low arrival
of goods from other parts of region leading to hike up in rates of
some essential commodities. Traders as a low turnout have initiated
routine maintenance works to their shops and Godown.

Another best Monsoon rainfall is here:
Jalgaon City and entire district is witnessing second row of one of
best Monsoon raining since yesterday. Raining continues in showery
medium form to heavy since Saturday morning. Continued raining has
resulted in 50% water storage in Girana Dam, 100% opening up of 4
gates of Hatnur dam and rest 16 gates by 1 meter.
Bhusawal, Raver, Yaval, MuktaiNagar, Bodwad continued to witness showers
along with Jamner, Amalner, Parola, Chopda, Dharangaon, Chalisgaon
and Bhadgaon witnessing medium to heavy rainfall. District did not
have any sunrise views yesterday and today due to cloudy climate.
Raining still continue with showering to medium speed until now.
District's 1,457 hectares area sugarcane crop unused:
Jalgaon District's 1,457 hectares area cultivated sugarcane crop remained
unused and not sold in last season. District Administration has received
this report from respective Sub-Divisional offices for arriving at
conclusion on disbursing State availed special grant of Rs. 25 Lakhs
to these farmers.
Jalgaon District has four sub-divisional administrations namely Jalgaon,
Bhusawal, Amalner and Pachora. Pachora has reported largest unused
sugarcane cultivated in 1,087.38 hectares area and Amalner division
reporting lowest of 3 hectares area in Chopda.
Jalgaon Taluka - 70 hectares (62 farmers), Jamner - 19.24 (17), Erandol
- 185.95 (173), Dharangaon - 25.88 (23), Bhusawal - 6.60 (9), Yaval
- 5.30(4), Raver - 0, MuktaiNagar - 50.74(48), Bodwad - 3 (2), Pachora
- 164.75 (194), Chalisgaon - 435.66 (808), Bhadgaon - 486.97 (590),
Amalner - 0, Parola - 0, Chopda - 3(2).
This totals to 1,457.09 hectares with claims of three Crores 64 Lakhs
27,250 Rupees. State has availed first installment of Rs. 25 Lakhs
for this aid.
District receives six Crores for Roads:
Jalgaon District Public Works Department has received 5.99 Crores
fund from State unit towards last year monsoon deluge and mega-flooding
damaged road repair works. PWD is starting up works of 234 roads by
this fund. Received fund includes 1.67 Crores for 52 works of Jalgaon
PWD Unit, Northern division with Rs. 1.65 Crores for 52 works, Amalner
PWD unit with Rs. 1.63 Crores for 131 works.
Jalgaon District has 1,278 Kilometers of State Roads and has major
Roads measuring 1,807kms and rural roads admeasuring 3,301 kilometers.
State PWD unit has also initiated 450 works worth Rs. 9.66 Crores
and 2.70 Crores for 45 local works.

Pachora's Vishwasrao Patil selected for National Agricultural Award:
Lohara (Pachora) based agriculturalist Vishwasrao Patil has been nominated
for N. H. Ranga National Award by National Council for Agricultural
Research for his outstanding services in agricultural field. The Award
comprises of Rs. 1 Lakh Cash Prize along with memento and certificate.
Award distribution ceremony is on 16th July at Delhi. He has worked
in water harvesting, forestry, fruit farms in semi-dry farms, food
grains.
Waghur dam: Rs. 360 Crores hole in Jalgaon's Pocket:
Waghur dam is proposed lifeline of Jalgaon city for drinking water
supply. Corporation aims at getting it up and functional by this year-end.
Waghur dam start up history is equally drastic for Jalgaon region
that demonstrate lack of political willingness for best of basic resources.
This project was budgeted at Rs. 12.75 Crores in its first approval
in 1973. Paper formalities took years to get start actual work. Its
work was stopped again in 1980 and it started later in 1992 and is
now estimated at Rs. 360 Crores and is yet to complete.
Even though papers show glazing figures, dam is yet to pass its technical
test and basic of all should get ample of water to deliver later.
Dam aims at benefiting 60 villages in Jalgaon and Bhusawal Taluka
region. This dam has proposal of 20 gates and seven have been completed.
Time ahead would demonstrate feasibility analysis of getting this
dam up and live.
Corporation standing committee approves Rs. 36 Crores for completion
of Housing project:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation standing committee has given approval
of Rs. 36 Crores 60 Lakhs 75,600 Rupees funds for completion of its
five pending housing projects. It has further affirmed that it would
take due permission from Court before starting work as all Housing
projects of Corporation are currently under scanner of Court on alleged
misuse of funds.
The Housing projects include Samta Nagar Slum area, Hari Vitthal Nagar,
Asoda Road, Khedi Gaothan and Khanderao Nagar slum living below poverty/
weaker section people houses allocation at Pimprala Housing project.
Standing committee has approved 44 topics on its agenda. Amongst other
topics included Rs. 2.50 Lakhs for Rath festivity of Pimprala. Body
also approved V. V. Market (Golani) Market shops ownership transfer
charges. Charges for up to first floor would be Rs. 1,500 per square
meter, Rs. 25,000 for second to fourth floors and Rs. 1,000 per residential
block for residential blocks from second until fourth floor.

Chopda recalls "Ratnavati" mega flooding:
Chopda in Jalgaon District witnessed hard times last year with 322mm
raining in just one day on 05th July 2006 leading to mega-flooding
in Ratnavati River flowing here. This drowns away families living
on banks of River, took lives of 11, and cost huge losses to entire
Taluka. State Transport, State property, Council and many Government
establishments suffered huge losses due to water logging in entire
city.
After a year, situation remains moreover same with nothing special
and preventive done to stop recurrence of such natural disaster. River
flows at just 150 feet distance to Municipal Council. Council's new
building is proposed in same premise despite last year losses. District
Administration and State Authorities are yet to make any special regulated
measures to resolve such issues.

Cotton
losses compensation and pending sugarcane crop grants received:
Maharashtra
State Government has approved compensation losses for cotton farmers worth Rs.
57 Crores. District Administration has received this aid towards year 2006-07
flooding and other natural calamities damaging cotton crops. District Administration
has urged Tahsil offices to send list of beneficiary farmers to District Agricultural
office for disbursement of this fund.
District Agricultural Office sent a report
estimating losses to 428,000 hectares area cotton crop. This followed State Government
taking remote sensing study of affected zone. The survey reported 415,000 hectare
affected and having damages and State has availed grants based on 92% area of
affected geography being damaged. State availed Rs. 28 Crores compensation in
year 2005-06 towards various natural calamities.
Administration has also received
special grant of Rs. 25 Lakhs towards special package relief for farmers having
pending sugarcane crop this year. This aid would be distributed through JDCC Bank
with one village one cheque system. Jalgaon district had 3396 hectares area sugarcane
crop remaining unused due to no demands.
Solar Energy Park to be setup
in Jalgaon:
Central Non-Conventional Energy Department has approved setting
up of Solar Energy Park on Jalgaon - Bhusawal Highway at an estimated expenditure
of Rs. 9.67 Crores. Godavari Foundation is taking up the project with 4.87 Crores
Government subsidies. The park is being setup in adjoining area of engineering
college in 6 acres land.
Park would have solar cooker, solar streetlights,
lighting, Solar TV Sets, water pumping, water purifier, water heater and many
others electricity based unit using solar energy. Park aims at spreading awareness
and desire for using solar power instead of thermal power to save from pollution.
Monsoon showers continue in medium form:
Entire District continues
to witness monsoon showering throughout fourth consecutive day. Jamner Taluka
is on top of list while Bhadgaon is with lowest rainfall. Continued raining would
lead to more cultivation of grains. Jalgaon District had 3272.2mm rainfall from
01st June until 03rd July 2007 with average of 218.1mm and 31.06%. Last year district
had double raining to that of this year figures.

Meteorology department issues another heavy raining warning:
The
State Meteorology Department has issued fresh warning of rain pouring in Northern
Maharashtra region in upcoming 24 to 48 hours. The region comprises of Nashik,
Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar Districts. The Department further estimates that
low pressure and raining has moved towards this region and as a likely means of
this aspect there could be heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Monsoon showers

Jalgaon District continues to witness medium to
heavy rainfall all around. It has recorded 284mm raining yesterday, region's medium
project dam have turned houseful, and many have shown significant increase in
water levels. Authorities have released Hatnur dam water to control water pressure.
Suki in Raver has turned houseful and Abhora is at 81.53% levels, Tondapur has
27.32% water while Mangrul has turned full. Girana dam now has 22% water store.

a bit higher. Region's oldest colleges granted category merit list has closed
at 78.62% while non-granted category merit has closed 70.62%. Many a newer and

on emerging research trends in advanced computing on 14th and 15th July. Workshop

witnesses Season best raining: 1453mm raining in one day:
Jalgaon District
and nearby regions are witnessed Monsoon 2007 one of best raining ever. There
has been 1453mm raining in Jalgaon District on Sunday. Raining began on Saturday
evening and continued for whole day on Sunday with no sun seen around. This continued
rainfall has led to water rise in all River and Nala along with Dam showing phenomenal
growth in water storage.
Authorities opened up all 39 gates of Hatnur dam
yesterday midnight and released 358,710 cusecs of water to balance water pressure.
Administration has issued warnings to those living on banks of river after this
release. Tapi, Girana, Bhogawati, Suki, Bhokari, Mor, Ratnavati, Guli, Champavati
and Aner Rivers are flooded with this rainfall.
Yaval is on top of list with
184mm raining followed by Chopda with 159mm and MuktaiNagar with 157.6mm. Jalgaon
had 113.6mm raining. Raining has led to disturbances in road and Railway traffic
at many locations.

Cross Country Competition on 10th July at Jalgaon:
Maharashtra State Athletics
Association Nashik Divisional Cross Country Competition is being conducted in
Jalgaon on 10th July. Competition would have participation of Jalgaon, Dhule,
Nandurbar, Nashik and Thane District Players. Qualified teams would participate
in State-level competition on 28th July at Parbhani.
Competition is in Men
- 12km and 4km category, Women - 4km and 8km category along with 8km for boys
below 20 years and 6km for Girls. There are 6 categories in this competition.

Jalgaon District Monsoon has finally picked up with raining
all around district since yesterday. Tapi and Purna River origin points have medium
to heavy raining leading to significant increase in water levels. District Administration
has issued warning to people living on banks of these Rivers.
Increasing
water flow has led to likely opening up of Hatnur dam gates in these days. Arrival
of medium to heavy rain has saved farmers from re-cultivation for Kharip season.
Railways have announced temporary cancelling of Mumbai - Bhusawal Passenger Train
following continued raining in entire zone. Raining has also led to delays in
many trains from Mumbai and Nagpur zones.
Villagers Day: Maximum complaints
on Electricity, Supplies department:
State Government recently introduced
Villager's Day concept seems to be clicking well for Villagers. Khandesh region
comprising of Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar District had Villagers taken conducted
in 2,165 villages. Authorities have received whopping number of complaints counting
to 18,280 and 2,333 complaints resolved by authorities.
Jalgaon District is
on top of complaints list with 17,230 complaints filed and 1,113 complaints resolved.
Dhule has 805 complaints from 551 villages and 173 solved. Nandurbar has 245 complaints
from 501 villages and 245 solved. Most of the complaints are relating to Electricity
supplies, supplies department for Kerosene and Rationing material, revenue department.
This event has proved to be a base for Villagers to file their never-heard issues
to administrative authorities and get them resolved.
