31st December:
State Geography Council meet at Pratap College from Wednesday:
Pratap College Amalner is hosting State geography council's 24th national
conference. The three days conference has farming development and
ecology as major topic. Council aims at enriching in field of geography
and has various lectures on this eve.
Chopda sugar factory general body meeting:
Chopda co-operative sugar factory general body meeting held yesterday
has announced availing co-producing of electricity on BOT basis. It
has also approved building funds of Rs. 16 Crores for Ethanol and
Distillery project. The 18th general body meeting had around 3,000
member presence.
30th December:
Banana growing farmers' representation to meet Railways minister:
A group of Raver taluka banana growing farmers is visit Delhi to present
its stand on non-justifying levying of wagon charges on cancelled
wagon. Group would meet railways minister and central food and agriculture
minister on 31st December. Meanwhile union has also received letter
from Raver railway station to pay Rs. 14 Lakhs 74 thousands 800 rupees
towards cancelled 12 wagons.
Constro-World 2007 ends today with Vishwakarma honor ceremony:
Creative group Jalgaon organized Constro-world 2007 construction and
building line exhibition is ending today with Vishwakarma lifetime
honor ceremony. Group has selected 10 personalities in construction
and building line for these awards.
Ceremony aims at inspiring upcoming generations for best and devoted
efforts for healthy promotion of field. Award has honor certificate
and memento. It includes Architect S. D. Mahajan, structural engineer
P. M. Agrawal, builder Chabilbhai Shah, Engineering Madhusudan Khadilkar,
Centring contractor Dashrath Jadhav, construction contractor Raffiyoddin

31 couples to marry in group marriage on eve of Saint Hardasram
birth festivity:
Sindhi community Panchayat and Amar Shahid Sant Kanwarram Saheb Trust
is celebrating Saint Baba Hardasram (Godadiwale) 103rd birth festivity
on 31st December 2007. Community has arranged for group marriage of
31 couples on this event. It has organized various religious activities
along with festive ferry to celebrate this event.
State horticulture department directorate on visit today:
State horticulture department directorate is visiting Jalgaon district
today to assess damages on banana infections due to various natural
conditions. He will visit Raver and Yaval taluka farms. Farmers in
region have demanded compensation and infection removal aids from
state.
Region farmers are facing strange calamities from nature and atmosphere
since last 5 years. Snowing, cyclonic winds, lightning, water shortage
and electricity load shedding are amongst few highest concern reasons
for farmers affecting productivity.
29th December:
Corporation speeds up road repair works:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation has speed up its road repairs and
developmental works on grounds of Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil
visit. It has undertaken works of 18 major roads of city. Various
steps to beautify Jalgaon city also marks private party participation
in Chowk decoration and renovation.
It has also announced stringent measures to reduce huge outstanding
house tax dues. Administration has set house tax depositing deadline
to 31st December and has also undertaken survey of new properties
built in city. Amongst major policy decisions, it has now announced
sending two bills for house tax instead of current single bill. It
has outstanding of Rs. 28 Crores in form of house taxes.
District's 114 villages undergo Panchayat head and deputy election:
Jalgaon district village Panchayats undergoing election on 23rd December
would now elect its head and deputy members in first meeting today.
District's all 14 taluka excluding Bodwad had panchayat elections.
Process of election would continue until 26th February.
28th December:
Constro-world 2007 inaugurated:
Building and construction segment one of unique exhibitions "Constro-world
2007" began yesterday in Jalgaon on G. S. ground. Exhibition
has around 150 stalls and exhibitions of various companies, builders
and exhibiting companies. Event would today have lecture on conquering
concrete by Ambuja Cement VP C. M. Dordi Mumbai.
Farmers versus railways tussle intensifies: Railways issue recovery
dues letter:
Northern railways Delhi office has issued letter to Raver Railway
Station master demanding Rs. 14 Lakhs payment from farmers towards
12 cancelled wagon on 13th December. Station master has sent this
letter to divisional railways manager office at Bhusawal for further
guidance and needful.
This letter of recovery has raised panic amongst farmers and no needful
actions being taken at authority level. Earlier railways used to deduct
deposit money of Rs. 500 in case of cancellations. Railways have now
demanded Rs. 116,666 per wagon cancelled to that of 18,435 per wagon
as expected.

were inaugurated yesterday. Book has feelings and emotions being expressed
by means of such articles.
Garware College Pune wins Science quiz contest at Chalisgaon:
Chalisgaon B. P. Arts, S. M. A. Science and K. K. C. Commerce College
conducted two-days science quiz competition ended yesterday. Garware
College Pune won first prize followed by R. Y. College Nashik and
Jain Pharmacy College Chandwad winning third prize. M. M. College
Pachora won consolation prize.
Shridhar Tripathi wins bronze in national competition:
Jalgaon table tennis player Shirdhar Tripathi has won bronze medal
in team in under-17 category at recently played national school table
tennis competition at Mizoram. He has won this second time playing
in State team.
27th December:
NMU affiliated colleges 96 lecturers approved under Career advancement
scheme:
North Maharashtra University affiliated colleges 96 lecturers have
been approved by NMU. Due to some technical reasons it has not yet
received approval for senior grade, selection grade and feeder cadre
from state.
Meanwhile NMU Management council has approved installation and commissioning
of SAP-ERP software system for speedy processing of administration
works in university. It has also approved availing space for joint-directorate
of higher education in NMU campus. Body has approved M. Sc. Admissions
for 2008-09 through centralised admission process.
District women association to meet President:
Jalgaon District women association group of representatives is meeting
her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil on 09th January at 13:45PM. Group
includes association's 75 members to meet her followed by ferry of
Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi tour, Agra and Mathura visits as well. Group
would propose and request various burning issues of region's women,
need of change in laws and various central and state schemes for women
welfare.
Burhani High School Pachora wins Challenge trophy competition:
District cricket association conducted second divisional under-16
challenge trophy competition ended yesterday with Burhani High school
Pachora defeating last year winner L. N. High school team by 8 wickets.
Burhani High school player Devvrat Raval won Man of the Match award
while same School's Jai Punjabi scoring 210 runs with 3 half centuries
won Man of the Series Award.
Amongst other prizes include Charudatta Nannavare for Best Bowling
from L. N. High School (14 wickets for 65 runs in 5 matches), Mujahid
Khan for Best wicket keeping (94 runs, 7 catches and one stamping).
26th December:
Thirty first celebration gears up:
Entire region is getting ready for best of year 2007 celebration on
31st December 2007. Many of Hotels and highway based Dhaba are introducing
special packages for 31st celebration. Lighting decoration, various
entertainment programs, special arrangement for families and dance
with disco are a few of planned activities at this year end.
Corporation general body meeting tomorrow:
Jalgaon city municipal corporation general body is meeting on Thursday
to discuss various eight topics on agenda. Amongst top heat raising
issues include Auditor General Remarks on Corporation expenditure
and contract awarding processes, renaming Waghur dam to Shivsagar
Lake and set up Shivaji Maharaj idol in the dam area, approving due
contractor bills on first come first serve basis and renaming Raymond's
crossing on Aurangabad road to Jawaharlal Darda road.
Bhusawal student Akshay Agrawal tops in Abacus competition:
Akshay Agrawal Bhusawal has topped in National Abacus competition
conducted at Bhusawal. Jalgaon district's 55 and Dhule's 25 students
have received medals. Khandesh region's around 500 students participated
in this competition.
L. N. Public school and Burhani school in finals of Challenge
trophy competition:
District cricket association conducted second divisional under-16
challenge trophy competition final match is being played today in
L. N. Public school Jalgaon and Burhani School Pachora. Burhani defeated
Zambre School by 18 runs and L. N. defeated Sane Guruji School by
128 runs in semis. Burhani player Ayush Patwari and L. N. player Nikhil
Patil won Man of the Match awards.

Village panchayat election results - Youth faces get introduction:
Jalgaon district 99 panchayat undergoing term election and 7 on bye-election
results have been announced. Most of results have shocked established
leaders and new young faces have replaced them. MuktaiNagar has received
mixed response while rest has seen new faces.
Madhukar sugar factory on top for sugarcane processing:
District's co-operative sugar factories have started their sugarcane
processing works since last one month. Madhukar Faizpur is on top
of list in processing with 100,320 metric tones of sugarcane processed
and 193,300 sugar bags produced by 20th December in 39 days. It has
also paid Rs. 2.32 Crores towards first installment for processing
until 30th November with base of 560 Rs. per ton.
Shahada Sugar factory is on top with 1.50 Lakh tones processing as
of now. Chopda sugar factory has processed 27,425 metric tones of
sugarcane and has produced 23,175 bags of sugar. Belganga Chalisgaon
has processed 60,070 metric tones and produced 45,925 sugar bags.
L. N. and Burhani schools enter Semi-final rounds:
District cricket association conducted second under-16 divisional
cricket competition is entering its final phases. Competition yesterday
had L. N. Public school, A. T. Zambre School, Burhani High School
Pachora and Sane Guruji High School Amalner entered into semi-final
rounds.
Winning team members Rahul Patil, Vijay Sonawane, Jay Punjabi and
Vinay Nerkar won Man of the Match awards. Today L. N. School will
play versus Sane Guruji School and A. T. Zambre will play against
Burhani Pachora.
Waghli primary healthcare center receives State award:
Waghli (Chalisgaon taluka) primary healthcare center has received
Dr. Joshi State Award for healthcare center. This center has Chalisgaon
Taluka's only no-stitches operation facility and undertakes maximum
family planning operations. This center also has sanitary park and
Dhanvantari garden. Center was established on 15th August 1999.
District wins two gold medals in State Rope-pulling competition:
Jalgaon district players have won two gold medals in state rope pulling
competition in catch-weight and 600kg category. Players also won silver
in 640kg category. District's 12 players have been selected in State
team for upcoming national competition at Imphal.
24th December:
85% voting in Village panchayat elections:
Jalgaon district's 106 Panchayat undergoing election have witnessed
85% polling yesterday. Parola taluka went on top with 86.03% voting
while Jamner went on lowest with 76.05% votes. Votes counting have
begun at respective Tahsil office since today morning and results
are expected by afternoon.
Talukawise voting percentages are Parola - 86.03%, Dharangaon - 83.70%,
Jalgaon - 85.21%, Amalner - 83.18%, Bhadgaon - 81.38%, Chalisgaon
- 79.60%, Raver - 79.04%, Bhusawal - 78.95%, Jamner - 78%, Yaval -
77.78%, Pachora - 77.15%, Erandol - 76.45% and MuktaiNagar - 75%
Independence fight and related rare evidences exhibition:
Bhalerao memorial forum, Girana Women development organisation, Village
Panchayat employees confederation are jointly conducting exhibition
of independence fight in association with state archeological department
on eve of Sane Guruji memorial day today. Exhibition has 1857 first
freedom fight, 1942 struggle and 60 years after independence related
historic documents and related material. Exhibition is open until
27th December at Police multi-purpose Hall from 6PM until 10PM every
day.
Nayana Raje's book inaugurated:
Poetess Nayana Raje's children poem collection 'Ranganchi Sabha' and
poem collection 'Antarnad' were inaugurated yesterday. Her collection
focuses and has distinguishes on cheering new generation styles.
Raisoni and Teresa schools enter in quarter finals of Challenge
trophy competition:
District cricket association conducted under-16 second divisional
cricket competition had Raisoni and Teresa schools entering into quarter
final rounds. Nikhil Jaiswal and Gajanan Swami won Man of the match
awards from winning teams. Quarter final rounds begin today with Zambre
versus Raisoni and Teresa versus L. N. High School in morning session.
Afternoon session has Burhani Pachora versus G.G. Raver and Sane Guruji
Amalner versus Pratap Amalner.

Dutta Jayanti today: various religious programs on event:
Entire region is celebrating Lord Dutta Jayanti today. Jalgaon district's
Saygaon Chalisgaon has 300 years old ancient Dutta temple on Girana
and Manyad River adjoining. Temple trust celebrates festivity every
year on this event. Temple has Mahanubhav Pantha founder Chakradhar
Swami and Sanatan community believed One-faced Dutta idol is one of
rare combination in this temple.
Kanashi in Gondgaon (Bhadgaon) is State famous powerful temple of
Lord Dutta. Historic records convey Chakradhar Swami having stayed
here. Lord Dutta is Mahanubhav Pantha Guru. Kanashi is also well known
as "Kashi" of Mahanubhav Pantha.
106 Village panchayat undergoing voting today:
Jalgaon district's 106 village panchayat from 14 taluka are undergoing
polling today. Administration has made adequate measures for smooth
conduct of entire process at 304 centers with 550 electronic voting
machines.
Watershed surveillance conference ends today:
Jalaseri Jalgaon organized and National science foundation USA sponsored
international watershed surveillance conference is ending today. The
week-end long conference had wide spread discussion on watershed with
papers presentation by 10 scholars on various topics.
Digambar Jain community youth introduction meet today in Jalgaon:
District Digambar Jain community is conducting its youth introduction
meet today in Jalgaon at Nutan Maratha college campus. Event would
have introduction of community's 250 boys and girls.

Two-days State Hindi council conference at Bhusawal from 28th
December:
Maharashtra Hindi Council is conducting its 15th convention at P.
O. Nahata College Bhusawal from 28th December. Conference would have
participation of State's 10 universities and associated colleges 250
professors. Conference has various sessions under presidential participation
of Dr. Tejpal Chaudhari from Jalgaon on Hindi on global platform -
current scenario and future plans, Information technology and Hindi
under presidential participation of Dr. Ratankumar Pandey Mumbai,
Hindi curriculum in Universities - current scenario and vision.
It also has sessions on revaluating Hindi literature by Mahadevi Verma,
Ramdhari Singh Dinkar and Hajariprasad Dvivedi under presidential

22nd December:
Village panchayat election polling tomorrow:
Jalgaon district administration is all set for smooth and fair conduct
of 106 village panchayat elections. Election campaigning ended yesterday
night at 10PM. Every Tahsil office has received electronic voting
machines for posting at booths.
Presidential visit speed up developmental works in Jalgaon:
Pratibhatai Patil visit in Jalgaon has speed up various developmental
works in Jalgaon region. This includes district stadium, various roads
and divider works in full pace. Corporation is inaugurating Waghur
dam while district administration is inaugurating district stadium
during her visit to Jalgaon.
Rotary and NMU conducted model united national assembly 2007:
Rotary club and North Maharashtra University are conducted two days
model united national assembly 2007 at senate hall. Assembly would
have 60 youth from various states representing various countries.
Assembly aims at spreading harmony, understanding, peace and detailed
discussion on country policy on international stand. It also has special
lectures on world communal harmony and rotary role along with world
peace and Indian army role.
Challenge trophy cricket competition - Teresa, Raisoni, Sardar
Raver, Pratap Amalner wins:
District cricket association conducted second divisional challenge
trophy cricket competition yesterday had Teresa, Raisoni, Sardar Raver
and Pratap Amalner continuing their victory race. Winning team players
Shivsagar Jadhav, Gajanan Swami, Neeraj Malani and Rahul Saindane
won Man of the Match awards.

Railways urge farmers to send banana through railway wagon:
Farmers struggle continues to get refund and permanent settlement
of banana wagons freight charges. Farmers have stopped sending banana
through wagon following central railway authorities' decision to charge
full freight for cancelled wagons. Railways earlier used to charge
Rs. 500 as penalty for cancelled wagons.
Meanwhile central railways Bhusawal divisional commercial department
has urged farmers to reinstate their banana transporting through railway
wagon and has expressed hopes of immediate settlement on cancellation
issue from railways ministry Delhi.
Village Panchayat elections - 147,952 voters:
District's 99 panchayat are undergoing term election and 9 are undergoing
bye-election on 23rd December. There are 147,952 voters in these Panchayat.
Administration has set up 550 electronic voting machines at 304 polling
booths for this election. This includes 76,312 male and 71,640 female
eligible voters. There are 1,574 candidates in fray and 14 taluka
panchayat have these elections.
Natraj theatre restarts its services in Jalgaon:
Located in heart of Jalgaon city, Natraj theatre its services from
today with all new look. Theatre is now lease taken over by a Pune
entrepreneur and is now equipped with all facilities. Newly built
full air-cooled theatre has seating capacity of 828 seats with six
track sound system, silver screen, and Dolby system and xenon technology.

District cricket association organized inter-school challenge trophy
cricket competition yesterday had A. T. Zambre, L.N. Public, Sane

20th December:
Water council at Jalgaon Jamod:
State has approved water irrigation schemes estimated at Rs. 506 Crores
for Kurha, Vadoda, Islampur in Jalamb and MuktaiNagar constituencies.
Project has estimated time duration of 30 months and would get large
storage lake on Satpuda hills basin at Islampur in Jalgaon Jamod taluka.
This lake would get water from Purna River flowing near Rigaon inMuktaiNagar.
This would benefit Jalgaon-Jamod, Sangrampur and 69 villages in MuktaiNagar
taluka and land of 17,957 hectares.
Corporation standing committee meeting on 24th December:
Municipal Corporation standing committee is meeting on Monday to discuss
various topics on its agenda. Top topics include waste management
action plan through Pune based organisation along with repairing water
supply department J.C.B. at 1.33 Lakhs, Rs. 2.24 Lakhs towards insurance
premium of newly bought 15 vehicles under Khandesh development fund
and repairing of 110KVA power generator for lifts.
Challenge trophy cricket competition: Roseland, Amalner and Raver
wins:
District sports authority conducted under-16 challenge trophy competition
league matches continues in full fledge form on fourth day. Roseland,
Maharana Pratap, Sardar G. G. Raver and Pratap High School Amalner
won their respective group matches.
Roseland student Saurabh Kamble, Maharana Pratap student Suresh Sharma,
Sardar G. G. student Manish Mahajan and Pratap student Pramod Goykar
won man of the match awards.

Raver station fruits and agricultural union stops sending banana
through railways:
Raver station fruits and agricultural union has announced no dispatches
through railways marking strong protest and rage over Railways recent
decision to charge 100% on cancelled wagons. Railways authorities
have charged full freight charges to farmers for 6 cancelling wagons
on 13th December instead of charging Rs. 500 as penalty per wagon
for cancellation. This decision has led to huge stocking of banana
at nearby centers and Railways is yet to announce its decision on
this issue.
Corporation proposes Waghur dam renaming to "Shivsagar Lake":
Jalgaon city municipal corporation administration has proposed Waghur
dam renaming to Shiv Sagar Lake. It is putting up this proposal in
upcoming general body meeting on 26th December. Meet would have 7
various topics on agenda.
NMU department of computer science conducted Avishkar 2007 begins
in Jalgaon:
North Maharashtra University department of computer science jalgaon
conducted Avishkar 2007 has begun yesterday. Competition has 250 students'
participation with 110 poster presentation and 20 models. Some of
innovative projects include web directory, world temperature increase,
and Thermal power waste as fertilizers, Nano technology, drug designing,
point of sales ATM technology, e-commerce security measures etc.
Kotecha lecture series begins today in Bhusawal:
Kotecha memorial two days lecture series is beginning today in Bhusawal.
Laughter champion Amol Shevade (Mumbai) would initiate series' first
lecture followed by Durgadas Neve on 'Shiva Charitra'.
18th December:
President public honor ceremony committee meeting today:
Jalgaon district's beloved Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil is likely
to visit Jalgaon on 07th and 08th February 2008. District administration
has received primary intimation from Rashtrapati Bhavan on this. Khandesh
public honor committee is meeting today at Corporation meeting hall
to discuss preparations for her grand welcome. Earlier committee and
Corporation both met her and offered formal invite for the visit.
Corporation and administration are inaugurating Waghur dam supply
to Jalgaon and Jalgaon district stadium during her visit. It would
also discuss on various program on eve of her birthday on 19th December.
"Khandeshi Saubhadra" wins second prize in State drama
competition:
V. V. Library team played Khandeshi Saubhadra has won second prize
in Jalgaon centre run state drama competition. Play was directed by
Dr. Hemant Kulkarni. This play lighting arrangements done by Manoj
Jadhav won first prize in best lighting arrangements category. Sushil
multi-purpose trust played Fear factor won third prize in competition.
Maratha community youth introduction meet on 13th January:
District Maratha organisation is conducting Khandesh-level Maratha
community youth introduction meet on 13th January at Nutan Maratha
college campus. It has urged member youths to register their profiles
for publication in directory to be inaugurated on the eve. Profile

North Maharashtra University languages and literary department professor
Dr. Sunil Kulkarni wrote "Kabir aur Tukaram ke Kavya" is
being inaugurated on Wednesday.
Nutan Maratha students selected in National shooting competition:
District's four have qualified for national inter-university rifle
and pistol shooting competition. This includes Kiran Patil in 1.77
peep site air rifle shooting, Shankar More, Vinod Wagh and Vijay Kavade
in 1.77 air pistol shooting category.
Jalgaon wins State softball competition at Sangli:
Jalgaon players have won Sangli district softball association conducted
14th senior category state competition at Sangli. Sangli won runner
up award in competition. In all 22 teams participated in competition.
17th December:
Banana demand dips following cold:
Savda and Nimbhora railway stations shifting wagons of banana to other
states are witnessing dipping banana movement following seasonal change.
Raver farmers have demanded cancellation of 12 out of 30 wagons following
no requirement.
Currently farmers are sending twice a week 84 wagons of banana from
Savda, Nimbhora and Raver railway stations. Banana is being sold at
200 rupees per quintal as of now. It has witnessed its lifetime highest
rates this year during peak demands.
Nashik dominates State level swimming competition:
District amateur swimming association conducted third state level
swimming competition yesterday had Nashik swimmers winning largely.
Jalgaon's Aditya Oak has won under-14 category championship. Competition
had under-6, under-8, under-10, under-12, under-14 and open category
boys and girls competition in 25mtrs free style, butterfly and backstroke,
50mtrs free style, back stroke, breast stroke and butterfly competitions.
Challenge trophy competition Day-2:
District sports authority conducted challenge trophy cricket competition
day-2 had various competitions marking victory of experienced teams.
Bhagirath, Y. D. Patil and G. S. High School won their respective
matches. Bhagirath player Avinash Patil, Millat Player Parvej Ahmed
and G. S. player Harshal Patil won man of the match awards.
16th December:
Satpuda forestry turning down:
Khandesh region's alone forestry belt in Satpuda hills is vanishing
day by day. There has been heavy woods and tree cutting on northern
boundaries of district. This has also led to many cases of forest
animals attacking villagers in hill area.
Jalgaon district's Yaval and Chopda taluka northern boundaries have
Satpuda hills range. This range had lush green and dense forestry
along with rich natural wild animals seen a decade ago. State forestry
authorities earlier announced special forestry zone at Sule Palasner
on national highway#3 near Aner dam here. Dozing and lower political
interest led to no activities and developments in this work.
If same scenario continues with dozing approach of forestry department,
Khandesh would find it harder to see wild life and dense forestry
in coming years.

KCE Society Jalasri organized and National science foundation USA
sponsored second international watershed surveillance workshop is
beginning today at M. J. College. Project is a brainchild of Jalgaon
native Prof. Dr. G. P. Patil from Pennsylvania University statistics
department. Foundation has sponsored this entire project in digital
governance and hotspot geo-informatics for monitoring Etiology, early
warning and sustainable management. India's 10 researchers along with
international watershed surveillance scholars are participating in
this workshop.
Under-16 Challenge trophy cricket competition day-1:
District sports authority organized challenge trophy cricket competition
day 1 evoked fabulous response from various schools. Day competitions
had St. Lawrence defeating Godavari by 6 wickets (target - 73 achieved
in 8.2 over, man of the match - Darshan Soni for 30 runs score). In
second match, St. Teresa defeated Pragati Secondary by 132 runs (scored
205 runs in 25 over, Pragati bowled out on 72 in 18.2 over, man of
the match - Vivek Tak for scoring 63 runs).
In third match, Ladkubai School Bhadgaon defeated Mahatma Gandhi School
Bhadgaon (target - 113, man of the match - Faiz Ali). Competition
ends on 26th December.
15th December:
Goodbye 2007 - welcome 2008:
Year 2007 has been a historic and glorious year for entire Khandesh
region. Pratibhatai Patil election as first lady President of India
has marked historic boost for district's morale. This led to significant
exposure to Jalgaon name amidst central and state organizations and
large scale companies. The dozing political and reformers willingness
has suddenly turned active.
Jalgaon airport should turn another gift to Jalgaon for its overall
growth. Region has witnessed significant growth in banking sector,
real estate and education. Jalgaon now has many of top brass educational
institutions in engineering, specialised courses and schooling.
Year also marked degrading state of co-operative movement in region.
A large number of co-operative societies tumbled down following imbalance
in income and expenditure and fund mismanagement. Frayed depositors
failed to get their hard earned deposits and required to wait a long
to settle for equal or even lesser amounts.
Vasant inaugurates its sugarcane processing:
Vasant Co-operative sugar factory Kasoda is starting its sugarcane
processing from today. Factory has been taken on lease by Gangamai
sugar factory on lease from JDCC bank. It has set ambitious target
of 250,000 tones of sugarcane processing this season and also plans
to start its distillery activity in coming month.
District Police introduces quick response team in Jalgaon and Bhusawal:
Jalgaon district Police has introduced quick response team in Jalgaon
and Bhusawal cities. Both places are of higher sensitivity as Jalgaon
being district place and Bhusawal being central zone of various important
governmental organisations. Team would consist of 6 members with motor
cycles and would keep patrolling entire city main roads, sensitive
points. Team would be equipped with walky-talky for best of communication
with head quarter and would patrol in nights seeing public response.

Jalgaon city municipal Corporation standing committee met yesterday
to discuss various developmental issues on agenda. Body approved 18
topics on agenda for various road development works in city. Corporation
has marked this mega road development works initiating on grounds
of likely arrival of Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil in January/
February 2008.
Proposed roads are Shiv Colony to Hari Vitthal Nagar Railway line
parallel road, National Highway to Rachana Colony, Kalika Mata temple

Railways reject Bhusawal - Mumbai express train demand:
Central Railways ministry has rejected Khandesh proposal for starting
up new express train from Bhusawal to Mumbai. Khandesh MLA earlier
demanded this with special consideration to local commuters from Bhusawal
and Nashik zone. Ministry has rejected this demand with no specific
explanation given.
District Collectorate imposes section 37(1) and 37(3) in Jalgaon:
Jalgaon district Collectorate has imposed Bombay Police Act 1951 section
37(1) and 37(3) in Jalgaon district with effect from 12th December
until 25th December following village panchayat elections and Eid
festivity.
National Karate competition from 22nd December:
District Karate association is conducted national level karate competition

Village panchayat elections: 13 panchayat unopposed:
Jalgaon district's 13 out of 117 village panchayat undergoing elections
are unopposed. Yesterday's last date of withdrawal has now shown clear
picture of candidature. There are now 1,655 candidates for 104 village
panchayat.
Mangi (Raver), Vatar and Krishnapur (Chopda) have no nominations filed.
Villagers here have raised boycott to election. Chabutre, Popatnagar
(Parola), Sutkar, Vishnapur (Chopda), Vadala - Vadali, Shindwadi,
Visapur, Malshevge (Chalisgaon), Tarade, Kalyane Kh, Bhod Bk (Dharangaon),
Vishnunagar (Pachora) and Giradgaon (Yaval).
Now election fray has Amalner 61 candidates (55 seats), Chopda 214
(93), Parola 98 (47), Chalisgaon 236 (132), Bhadgaon 81 (34), Pachora

NMU starts M. Tech admission process:
NMU Chemical Technology department has started admission process for
M. Tech in Chemical and M. Tech. Polymer technology from this academic
year. Candidates with B. E., B. Tech (Chemical), B. E. (Plastic, Polymer,
and Paints Tech) or M. Sc. (Polymer Chemistry) with 55% marks can
apply for the same. GATE exam qualifying candidates would get direct

Jalgaon city's 99 Crores expenditure Waghur dam project water
has finally reached Girana pumping water station in trial phases run
by Administration. It released water from dam 7 days ago and has successfully
received the same in pumping station. Corporation began Waghur dam
work in 1999 and has laid 25kms of water supply lines from dam to
pumping station.
Business confederation announces common fight against Octroi and
Malls:
Jalgaon district businesses confederation mega meet yesterday announced
stronger protest against state levied unjustifying Octroi tax. Octroi
taxes added with highly dominating Mall culture arrival has thrown
away interests of small traders and tighten their belts on earning
aspects.
Meet was addressed by All India Businesses Confederation president,
federation of associations of Maharashtra chief and had participation

Jalgaon district village panchayat elections nomination withdrawal
process is beginning today. Administration yesterday scrutinized all
received nominations. Jalgaon taluka now has 225 candidates for 11
Panchayat. Withdrawal process ends tomorrow evening and exact picture
would be clear only after this process. Yesterday's scrutiny process
has rejected 117 invalid, non-completed forms.
Corporation proposes 18 roads repairs and development:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has proposed repairs and developments
of 18 main roads in Jalgaon city estimated at around Rs. 4 Crores
through State availed flooding aid and finance commission funds. Standing
committee is meeting on 13th to finalise on this issue.

Beed team wins V. V. Library organized Atre memorial debating
competition:
V. V. Library organized state level debating competition ended yesterday
with Balbheem College Beed team winning with Government Engineering
College Pune as runner up. Harshal Chavan Pune won Dr. Bendale memorial
individual category first prize with Medha Bhat Nashik winning Late
Kabra individual category second prize and Navnath Band Beed winning

Jalgaon district amateur swimming association swimmers have demonstrated
excellent performance in Nashik conducted National swimming competition.
Chinmay Rokde secured ninth rank with Jaydeep Sonawane getting 11th
rank in under-17 category. Others also marked wonderful score.
09th December:
Village panchayat elections:
Jalgaon district's 117 village panchayat are undergoing election on
23rd December. Filling of nominations began on 03rd December and ended
yesterday with 2,831 candidates filling nominations on various seats.
This second phase of Panchayat elections has 117 Panchayat for general
Elections and 51 for Bye-elections. All these Panchayats will have
electronic voting machines for polling for very first time.
Jalgaon taluka has - 228 nominations, Bhusawal - 80, MuktaiNagar -
111, Raver - 379, Yaval - 189, Jamner - 64, Chalisgaon - 371, Pachora
- 111, Bhadgaon - 179, Amalner - 130, Chopda - 430, Parola - 201 and
Dharangaon - 358.
Azadi Express exhibition train arrives in Jalgaon:
Azadi Express exhibition train exhibiting India's versatile culture,
history and heritage has arrived in Jalgaon railway station from Badnera
at 4AM yesterday. This train remains in Jalgaon for today and yesterday
and exhibition is free and open to all from 10AM until 6PM and train
is at VIP platform on Jalgaon railway station.
Train has 11 coaches with first exhibiting British company ruling,
second showing its effects and curses, third with public rage on system
and ruling, fourth marking British Rule arrival. Fifth coach has Indian
freedom fight ignited and sixth with Bapu's active role and seventh
with 'Chale Jao Andolan highlights', eighth marking independence struggle
and ninth with new dawn of independence. Both tenth and eleventh coaches
have India on progression and its democracy leading India to become
world super power.
L. N. High school five students selected in state fencing competition:
L. N. Public High School students Rakesh Kulthe, Girish Amrutkar,
Nikhil Patil, Rohit Bhavsar and Harshal Korde have been selected for
State under-17 competition. All have qualified for this competition
by winning in respective categories on district level. Girish, Rohit
and Rakesh secured win in Saber while Nikhil has been selected for
foil with Harshal in IPI.
08th December:
October-2007 HSC result- 22%, SSC result- 21%:
Jalgaon district has scored one of its lowest scores in October exams
of SSC and HSC. Board announced result yesterday. SSC exam had 9,257
students appearing from 17 centers. Out of this, 1,327 boys and 657
girls cleared exam. In HSC, 7,187 students appeared from 14 centers
and 1,585 passed. Science stream had 45.28%, Arts had 18.49% , Commerce
had 27.51% and MCVC had 14.98% result.
Corporation announces Waghur dam water supply by December end:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has announced availing Waghur dam
water to Jalgaon city by December end. It is in final stage testing
for water supplies operations for 15KMS distance from dam to Jalgaon
Girana pumping station. Until now it has tested 8.20KMS with raw water
test and is likely to complete rest in next two days. This will follow
filtering plant starting and purifying water. Purifying plant has
four beds each with 13.2MLD water purification capacity.
V. V. Library conducted Debating competition on 09th December:
V. V. district library is conducting 09th Atre memorial state level
inter-college debating competition on Sunday, 09th December. Debating
competition has "India's USA Nuclear Deal - Danger to democracy"
as debating subject. Competition attracts first prize of Rs. 2,100,
trophy and certificates, second prize of Rs. 1,100/-, trophy and certificate
in team level. It has Rs. 1,001, 751, 501 and two consolation prizes
of 101 as individual level prizes.
07th December:
Bhusawal railway division's 15 stations to get bank ATMs:
Central Railways Bhusawal Division has offered various banks for setting
up ATM centers in railway station premise. Currently 8 out of 15 stations
have ATM live from SBI, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda and Dena Bank.
Stations to have ATM installed are Bhusawal and Pachora already live
and Jalgaon, Chalisgaon, to start shortly in district. All ATM will
also offer E-Tickets from Railways.
Village Panchayat elections: 53 nominations Raver taluka:
Raver Taluka's 15 village panchayat are undergoing elections and nomination
process has begun. Until now authorities have 53 nominations for various
panchayat. State election commission has recently notified not allowing
more than one nominations by same candidate in various category/ wards.
Auto fair 2007 begin today in Jalgaon:
Two and Three Wheelers Spare parts dealers association and concept
exhibitors have jointly organized three days auto fair 2007 at Leva
boarding hall. Exhibition has demonstrations and stalls from various
spare part companies, seminars on automobile sector.
Maskavad (Raver) students selected in National weight lifting
competition:
Pravin and Tushar Sapkale from Maskavad (Raver) have been selected
for National school-level weight lifting competition in 77kg category.
Both qualified for competition by securing wins in state-level competition.
06th December:
Corporation standing committee meeting review:
Corporation standing committee meeting yesterday had opposition member
demonstrating strong protest on Auditor General Remarks on Corporation
expenditure. Ruling party members denied discussion resulting in walkout
of members. The Auditor general has categorically denied Corporation
administration sent reply on its remarks and has demanded more of
counter-proofs for the same.
District banana to be sold online:
MCX and Bangalore based Safal National Exchange of India has initiated
online buying and selling of banana from Khandesh region. Testing
is in final stages. Experiment initially will have only 5 taluka from
Jalgaon namely Jalgaon, Raver, Yaval, Chopda and MuktaiNagar. It has
also setup centers for physical collection of transacted banana from
this. This online trade is likely to benefit farmers with around 5-10%
cost enhancement and will also avail free transporting and direct
payment credit facility. It has tied up with various nationalized
banks for payment depositing.
Practical feasibility, ease of operating and good internet connectivity
could remain major challenges to this experiment as most of these
taluka still have dialup based connectivity excluding Jalgaon city.
05th December:
Ancient Deity idols found in Manudevi:
Manudevi Temple trust having initiated Mandap works has found various
God and Goddess stone carved idols. Manudevi temple is in heart of
Satpuda hills and has been amongst region's one of most ancient heritages.
These idols could further help region in establishing temple's identity
by verification through ASI authorities. Temple region had Gawali
community ruling 1200 years ago and the temple region also has various
works and structure of that times.
Ajanta Guest house to be renewed for President Visit to Jalgaon:
Public Works department (PWD) is initiating renovation and enhancement
works of Ajanta Guest House following likely visit of Her Excellency
President of India in January/ February 2008. This includes introduction
of 20 air-conditioned suites in existing guest house. Department is
also patching up MuktaiNagar and Bodwad rest houses. Administration
plans inauguration of Waghur dam for Jalgaon city water supply, Jalgaon
Airport extension works Poojan and district sports stadium in Jalgaon
city.
SSC and HSC Results on 07th December:
Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board is announcing SSC and
HSC October 2007 exam results on 07th December at 11AM. Result would
be available on Board website and distributed in afternoon. Board
has announced ratio based conversion of out of 100 marks score to
out of 150 marks to match with March exam scoring pattern.
Jalgaon volleyball players selected in Mumbai divisional team:
State divisional sub-junior volleyball competition is coming shortly.
Divisional authorities conducted selection test for division team
at Police Parade ground. Selected players include Akshay Kale, Swapnil
Tayade (both St. Lawrence), Prafulla Mahajan, Pranavanand Chaudhari
(Both New English School) and Nikhil Bayas (Secondary school). All
selected players will now participate in round-2 of team selection
at Dhule on 06th December.
Chandan and Dhaval selected in State Under-17 cricket team:
Maharashtra team has selected Chandan Wani and Dhaval Hemnani in last-15
of under-17 team for upcoming BCCI conducted Under-17 National Vijay
Merchant Trophy Competition. Chandan is left handed fast bowler and
middle order batsman. Dhaval is left handed spinner. Team will play
against UP on 10th December, Baroda on 15th, Tamilnadu on 20th and
versus Delhi on 25th December.

Corporation new ward structure announced:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation administration yesterday conducted
a draw of ward-based reservation system for all its 69 wards. This
new structure now has 23 wards reserved for open category and ladies,
4 for SC (includes 2 for ladies), 3 for ST (includes 1 for ladies),
13 for OBC and rest for General Open category. Administration will
now send this structure to EC and also call for objections if any.
The new structure announced is based on Jalgaon city population of
368,618 in year 2001. This includes 22,128 from SC, 26,448 from ST.
New structure now has lower slab of 4,808 and 5,876.

Vasant Co-operative Sugar factory Kasoda is inaugurating its boiler

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation administration is conducting draw
of reservation for upcoming Corporation election for various categories.

Blind's sports competition ends in Jalgaon:
Rotary Club of Jalgaon West organized sports competition for blinds
ended yesterday in Jalgaon. Amravati marked their dominance in competition
followed by Nashik. Somnath Mishri won Chess first prize followed
by Samadhan Harsole winning second prize. Amongst other activities
conducted included Running - 100mtrs for partially blinds, fully blinds,

Building houses may turn dearer for Jalgaonities - Sand rates
touch new high:
Building a new house or repairing existing ones could turn dearer
and more costly in Jalgaon district following recent all times high
rates in sand. Sand rates have increased 100 times in last decade
and doubled in last year and have touched Rs. 2,700/- per full tractor.
Builders and construction lobby has blamed Government's auction based
policy as sole responsible reason for this unjustifying hike.

Jalgaon district's 117 village panchayat are undergoing elections
on 23rd December. Nomination process is beginning on 03rd December.
There are 199,951 voters in this election. It includes 117 Panchayat

Jalgaon cadet, sub-junior, junior and youth category boys and girls
have entered third round of state inter-district table tennis competition
at Mahabaleshwar.
