31st August:
Monsoon bestows blessings on Jalgaon: Girana dam turns full:
Jalgaon District had fourth consecutive year of nature's bliss when
its major water reservoir Girana dam turned 100% full. The dam supplies
drinking water to Jalgaon city and 173 villages and places in district.
It is fourth consecutive time that this dam is overflowing now. Jalgaon
City's newly built up Waghur dam is also witnessing significant increase
in water levels and now has supply pipeline level water.
Girana River flowing in Jalgaon city outskirts is full of water these
days and Dapora temporary sand dam is overflowing. Meanwhile district
continue to witness medium to heavy raining during nights. Please
refer Monsoon 2007 section for detailed information.
Bhadgaon Municipal Council notified:
Maharashtra State Urban development ministry has notified formation
of Municipal Council at Bhadgaon wide its publication dated 23rd August
in Nashik Divisional Supplement Part 1A.
District Police mega recruitment drive: 1,139 candidates qualify
for interview:
Jalgaon district Police's mega recruitment drive written test result
has been announced. In total 1,856 candidates appeared for this test
and 1,139 have qualified for interviewing. Interviewing process would
begin from today.
Rest of district Inter-School handball competition:
District Sports Authority and Siddhi Vinayak School jointly conducted
rest of district Inter-School handball competition in Under-14 category
completed yesterday. A. B. High School Chalisgaon has won this competition
with Purnapatre School winning runner up award.
30th August:
Medium-Heavy raining escapes life for standing crop:
Jalgaon city and rest of the district witnessed medium heavy raining
yesterday night for around one hour. Arrival of raining has saved
standing crop in the region. All Taluka in district have reported
raining in medium to heavy form.
Sand rates shoots further: Administration still processing:
Jalgaon region is witnessing one of most depressing time with construction
segment getting hard hits from administration on slower processing
of sand auctioning. District earlier having 700/- per tractor sand
rates with fixed brass measuring is now flattened. Jalgaon district
has 153 spots for picking up sand from 15 Taluka. District administration
conducts auction for this every year and received hefty sum of eight
Crores last year. This contract ended on 05th August and hence administration
stopped availing sand. This year's auction is scheduled on 05th September.
This non-availability of sand has led to illegal ways of getting it
with around 1,700/- rate per brass.
Jalgaon Milk Union announces its highest ever rates:
Its time to rejoice for milk producers in Jalgaon District with Jalgaon
Milk Union announcing its highest ever rates of 10.62 Rs. For 4 FAT
and 8.5SNF cow milk. These are one of highest ever rates availed by
Jalgaon Milk Union throughout its establishment.

Raver Market committee passes resolution to stop 3kg cutting in
banana:
Amongst one of most significant resolutions for banana farmers in
the region, the Raver Agricultural produces marketing committee yesterday
passed a board Resolution ordering traders to stop cutting of 3Kg
per quintal while buying banana crop from farmers. Banana traders
buy banana from farmers and sell throughout country
Corporation bye-election electoral roll ready:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation administration has prepared updated
electoral roll for upcoming Ward#13 bye-election. The roll is available
for public view with Corporation. It has called for objections/ comments
on the listing on/ before 03rd September. Final listing would be published
on 10th September. Election is scheduled on 07th October followed
by counting on 08th October.
Parth and Dhanshree selected for National fencing competition:
Chalisgaon's Parth Pawar and Pachora's Dhanshree Mahajan have been
selected in Maharashtra team for National fencing competition at Gwalior
from 05th until 10th September. Both qualified for this by winning
their state-level matches played at Kalyan.

Monsoon raining continues on second day:
Entire Jalgaon district continue to witness showery to medium raining
yesterday. Jalgaon City, Taluka and various other Taluka have reported
good raining. Region's major water resource Girana dam is about to
reach 100% marks. Administration has ordered opening of four gates
to balance water pressure in the dam. Various Rivers in the region
are flooding following good rain. Lightning caused death of a farmer
at Vadji in Chopda Taluka.
Corporation General Body approves City Development Plan:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation General body has approved proposed
city development plan for upcoming 25 years. General body yesterday
in its special meeting approved the 2,107 Crores 68 Lakhs City Development
Plan. Corporation earlier took Bangalore based consulting service
to document this plan required as a mandatory documentation in UIDSSMT
aids of Central Government.
Proposed CDP has 948.5 Crores for Road works, 292.8 Crores for Water
supply plans, 217.2 Crores for waste management, 23.89 Crores for
old area development, 11.69 Crores for water resources management,
11.32 Crores for valuable ancient sites, 181.40 Crores for Below-poverty
line beneficiaries.
Corporation failed to attract Citizen's attraction on this CDP vision
and its proposed plan surprising has no special allocation on region's
major issues of drinking water supply and industrial growth along
with civic services.
District's players selected in National Super Cricket competition:
Jalgaon Super cricket Association's players have been selected in
upcoming National Super Cricket competition at Lucknow from 31st August
until 04th September. Players include Shreyas Khare (Bhusawal), Bhushan
Wadekar (Bhadgaon), Swapnil Pardeshi, Rahul Sardar, Paresh Bagul (Jalgaon),
Devendrasingh Patil (Yaval), Kunal Rakshe and Kalpesh Wani from Erandol.
27th August:
Highway Authority begins Four-lane Express Highway works:
National Highway Authority of India has announced NH 6 Conversion
to Four-lane Express highway. It has begun marking of highway boundary
and has posted public notice on proposed four-lane work. It proposes
150 meters Road (75 meters from centre of road) development. It has
set enforced no conversion of Land in this area in to Non-agricultural
land.
This boundary expansion will lead to land encroaches by NHAI in Shiv
Colony, Ganesh Colony, Vidyut Colony and other areas. This will lead
to 200 feet highway. Interestingly Corporation Administration has
not received any updates from NHAI on this work. Corporation in its
privately taken consultancy has requested Highway Authority to workout
on Flyover from Bahinabai Garden until MIDC Crossing.
CCI avails Share Capital dividend to farmers:
Maharashtra Government has ordered availing Share capital dividend
to all cotton-producing farmers for the duration from 01st July until
31st March 2006. Cheques are being distributed through Taluka Buy-Sale
societies. It has further urged farmers to deposit cheque with Taluka
societies in case of mistakes in cheque preparation and those having
less than 100 Rs. Dividend would get in cash after showing valid photo
identity proof.
Increasing computerization in Jalgaon:
Information technology wings are spreading fast in entire Jalgaon
region. Governmental, Semi-Governmental, Schools, Colleges and every
sector of business and Industry are now being computerized to enhance
overall productivity. District's 60% schools are offering Computer
education and SOHO users share is increasing rapidly. Governmental
Offices, Banks and Co-operative Societies begin their transactions
with software applications only.
Branded Hardware dominates the market with major share followed by
assembled brands being used by entrants. Laptop is new generation's
choice here as well. Engineering Colleges beginning mandatory laptop
use has led to overall growth in Laptop sales and usage.
Afreen Deshpande selected for National Chess Competition:
Jalgaon's chess player Afreen Deshpande has been selected for National
Chess competition. She has qualified for this competition by winning
runner-up award in State Sub-junior Chess competition at Tumsar in
Bhandara. She has secured 4 out of 5 points. She is also selected
for Divisional competition.
Jalgaon's another chess hero Pratik Patil has secured his place in
national competition by securing 6 out of 9 points in the same competition.
Kolhapur wins State Under-19 Football competition:
Kolhapur Boys and girl team have won under-19 District Sports Council
organized State-level football competition. Pune boys and Mumbai girls
won runner up awards. Competition was played at newly built Sports
complex and Eklavya Sports complex. Every division's 5 players totaling
to 40 and competition's 30 would now undergo selection test for Maharashtra
team 18-players team.
26th August:
Wonderful raining pleases Jalgaonities:
Half of Jalgaon District witnessed heavy rainfall for around 1 hour
yesterday afternoon pleasing Jalgaonities. Rest of district remained
dry throughout the day. Good raining after
Interval has saved standing cotton and other crops and reduced overall
humidity in climate.
Khedi - joining Jalgaon's progression:
Khedi village located on National Highway at a distance of 5kms from
Jalgaon city is slowly turning to be a part of Jalgaon city. Khedi
region has seen and shared Jalgaon's overall development with supportive
approach. Arrival of Engineering College and gradually expanding Industrial
base has led to real estate shootout followed by opening up of various
shops and amenity centers.
Hanuman Nagar, Vinayak Nagar and Lodha Nagar are amongst few of popular
areas in this village having mere 2,500 local Population and spread
up area of 1Km. This village has been included in Jalgaon city limits
since 1985 and continues to be a part of Jalgaon Corporation limit
in year 2000 updates.
Government agencies mega recruitment drives: Agencies miss technology
bus:
India is growing with no bounds with wonderful technology brains and
its capabilities to achieve and implement best of technology in software
terms. Governmental agencies seem far behind the race with lower to
no implementation of technology being observed in its most churning
processes.
Jalgaon District Police followed by District Administration have floated
recruitment drives for recruiting various grade candidates. Both have
manual implementation in recruitment drive. District Police received
manually written over 8,000 applications for mere 151 posts in its
prescribed format sold by its units. Filtering and qualifying followed
by physical tests and written tests processes involved huge work force
to get it done with immense workload and tension to accomplish task
in such a minor frame. Candidates on other front kept waiting to get
their names after various rounds and had to visit Police stations
to see lists.
Jalgaon District Administration on other hand has implemented 7 Tahsil
Officers and 50 staff to handle entire process. Administration is
overloaded with applications sent via posts and manually accepted.
It has just 101 Clerical posts and 57 Talathi posts to fill. It has
printed 55,000 blank applications to get it filled from candidates.
Moreover, it also requires a Nationalised Bank Cheque/ Demand Draft
for processing application. Both agencies are overloaded with candidates
enquiring on various aspects and processing applications.
State-level inter-school football competition:
State Sports and Youth affairs directorate organized and District
Sports Council supported Inter-School State-level football competition
began yesterday at newly setup district sports complex. Amravati,
Nagpur and Mumbai girls and Aurangabad, Amravati and Pune boys marked
victories on first day.
Jalgaon wins 7 Gold, 9 Silver and 3 bronze in School-level skating
competition at Aurangabad:
Jalgaon players have dominated Royal International School Aurangabad
conducted State-level Inter-school skating competition. District team
has won 7 Gold, 9 Silver and 3 Bronze medals in Rink-1 and Rink-2
category matches.
25th August:
Electricity disrupts routine life:
Entire Jalgaon district is witnessing harsh times with electricity
distribution system totally collapsed. There are continued unannounced
electricity cuts throughout the day and during nights making life
harder to presume. The chaos began early this week with Electricity
Distribution Company restarting its hectic load shedding and power
cuts without any announcements. Urban areas are witnessing power cuts
for around 7-8 hours throughout the day while rural are in tough times
with 10-14 hours power cuts.
Frequent unannounced power cuts have collapsed Corporation water supply
system resulting in rage amongst Jalgaonities.
District Administration receives Order for District Agriculture
plan:
Central Government National Development Council resolution has issues
orders to Jalgaon District Administration to prepare Jalgaon District
Agricultural Plan for the year. Administration yesterday conducted
a review meeting to discuss plan. Meet had participation of District
Council Agricultural Department, District Rural Development Authority
(DRDA), Animal Husbandry, Daily Department, Fishery department, District
Bank, Co-operative Department, Agricultural University Scientists,
District Milk Union, Irrigation Department, Marketing Federation,
District Industrial Centre authorities. Administration has urged all
departments to set up targets as per 11th Five years plan.
Bhusawal Municipal Council: Bye-election for one ward on 07th
October:
State Election Commission has ordered Election for Ward#6 in Bhusawal
Municipal Council on 07th October. Earlier elected member was disqualified
on grounds of caste certificate. Election Process begins from 12th
September with nominations filling until 20th September. 26th September
is last date of withdrawing nominations followed by voting on 07th
October and counting and result announcement on 08th October.
Sharad Lokhande selected for Divisional Weight-lifting competition:
Wakod (Jamner) student Sharad Lokhande has been selected for Divisional
level Weight-lifting competition. He secured this place by winning
District-level competition in 70-Kg category conducted at Jalgaon.
24th August:
Monsoon 2007 overview: Dam at good state but rivers still await
good rainfall:
Monsoon 2007 has blurred region's water expectations with medium to
low rainfall throughout the region. District's two major reservoirs
Girana and Hatnur dams have good water levels but there is no free
flowing water in Rivers in the region. The low to medium raining in
intervals has not settled weather humidity. Jalgaon's new ambition
Waghur dam is crying out for water with almost zero stock. Girana
dam has 91% while Hatnur has 35% stock. Bhokarbari has 28.58% while
Bori and Suki are at 100%.
Jalgaon Milk union plans ambitious expansion: Aims at doubling
capacity:
Jalgaon District Co-operative Milk Producer's Union popularly
known as VIKAS in Jalgaon has set up ambitious expansion plans budgeted
at 11.19 Crores. The new plan aims at enhancing its milk processing
and storage capacity by double. Union is currently procuring 1.50
Lakh liters of milk per day.
The proposed plan aims at increasing storage capacity of its chilling
centers with estimated cost of 8.84 Crores. This includes 1.95 Crores
in first phase and 4.52 Crores in Second phase for Jalgaon main plant
along with 55.27 Lakhs for Pachora chilling plant, 33 Lakhs for Parola
Chilling centre equipments, 29.15 Lakhs for Faizpur Chilling Centre,
55.27 Lakhs for Chopda Chilling centre and 52.91 Lakhs for Cattle
feed plant. It also plans to improve productivity on village level
with inputs of 34.12 Lakhs to enhance overall productivity.
NDDB has already approved this 5 years plan from 2006 until 2010.
Union is awaiting State nod for this proposal. Currently most of union
equipments are functional since its initiating 33 years ago.
Jalgaon Sports Complex (stadium) to host its first state-level
football competition:
Jalgaon District Council (ZP) is conducting Under-19 State-level Boys
and girls football competition from 25th August. Competition is being
played at newly built stadium and Eklavya Sports complex. In all 9
boys and 8 girls team are participating in this competition.
Corporation special meeting on City Development plan on 27th August:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation is conducting a special general
body meeting on 27th August to discuss finalization of City Development
Plan.
23rd August:
Corporation standing committee meeting review:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation standing committee in its meeting
yesterday has arrived at reversal of its earlier decision of selling
its lands at Khwajamiya, Old Sane Guruji Hospital land and Council
building vacated land. Ruling party has now submitted proposal of
BOOT basis construction at these locations. Body approved this proposal
finally. The decision came amidst hectic pressure from opposition
and legalities involved in selling Governmental lands.
Body has approved and discussed various 25 topics on its agenda. It
includes appointment of a 4-members panel to finalise Daily, Weekly
market and beefs market collection. Body also approved extension to
construction of tanks under Waghur project.
Corporation Ward#13 bye-election on 07th October:
State Election Commission has announced schedule for bye-election
in Ward#13. The schedule has 07th October as polling date and process
begins from 12th September. EC has assumed Electoral roll as on 16th
August as final eligibility for voters.
Nomination application swill be available from 12th until 19th September
with 19th as last date of filling nominations. It would scrutinize
applications on 20th and last date of withdrawal as 24th followed
by distributing of election signs on 25th September and final list
publishing on 26th September. Voting is on 07th October followed by
counting on 08th and publishing results in GR by 12th October.
Bhusawal sends Rs. 54 Crores Central aid for water supplies:
Bhusawal Municipal Council has sent a proposal to Central Government
valued at 54 Crores for extending water supplies in city's new areas.
Council currently has 22MLD Water Purification Treatment Plant with
capacity to facilitate 1.60 Lakh citizens. Council is currently supplying
water to 1.80 Lakh citizens. Council aims at availing 53MLD water
from Hatnur dam under USSIDMT scheme of Central Government and has
sent proposal worth Rs. 54.25 Crores for the same. It has taken lines
laying work budgeted at 45 Lakhs in city's low-pressure water supply
areas and estimates completion in next 4 months.
22nd August:
Heavy raining in Pachora and Bhadgaon Taluka:
Bhadgaon and Pachora Taluka facing acute monsoon raining had wonderful
raining for around one hour yesterday evening. Entire Taluka had full
raining easing farmer's woes of crop damages following no rains since
long time.
District Agricultural authorities have estimated no affecting to standing
crop following showery formed raining in days between. Jalgaon District's
average rainfall is 702.4mm and has witnessed 402.03mm (57.24%) raining
as of now. Jalgaon has 4.12 Lakhs hectare under cotton cultivation
and rest 1 Lakh hectare with other crops. Authorities have further
expressed satisfaction on rain requirement for agriculture.
Vivekananda Nagar, Gulmohar Colony, Datta Colony water supply
to smoothen shortly:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation is in final phases of laying special
water supply lines from Girana tank to Datta colony and city's southern
west areas. This will help and ease water supply in Vivekananda Nagar,
Gulmohar Colony and data Colony in city. Corporation is laying 160mm
PVC pipeline with 15HP pumps and is likely to complete the same in
next 15 days.
Saint Muktabai Palkhi to arrive in Jalgaon on 23rd August:
Shree Saint Muktabai Ram Palkhi went to Pandharpur on eve of Ashadhi
Ekadashi is returning and would reach Jalgaon on Thursday, 23rd August
evening.
Jalgaon State transport depot receives 22 new buses:
Jalgaon depot of Maharashtra State road Transport Corporation has
received 22 new buses with 50-seats capacity each. The depot now has
694 buses in Jalgaon District with depots and Jalgaon, Pachora, Chalisgaon,
Amalner, Erandol, Chopda, Raver, Yaval, MuktaiNagar, Bhusawal and
Jamner as its 11 sub-depots. These buses cover travel distance of
220,000 Km per day.
21st August:
Raver Sugar factory on lease:
Raver Taluka Co-operative Sugar factory is being availed on 7 years
lease agreement. State Government has recently approved factory Administration
proposal to lease factory. Factory is non-functional since last three
crops. It has 1,250 metric tones sugarcane processing capacity and
owes huge loans from JDCC Bank. JDCC Bank administration has focus
of fixed monthly rent and more on per tones crushing rates in leasing.
This news has sent cheering signs amongst farmers in region.
JDCC Bank to distribute balance crop loan shortly:
Jalgaon District's apex co-operative Bank JDCC Bank has extended its
regret for delay in execution of crop loan for the season following
fund shortages. It expects funds from Maharashtra State Co-operative
Bank for this and expects smooth lining of loans distribution process.
Bank has been availing crop loan from its reserved funds since last
three years and had set targets of 312 Crores this season. It has
already finished 95% loan distribution and is now facing cash crunch.
It is expected to receive 30 Crores special fund from MSC Bank to
complete balance loan requests at 6% interest rate. The balance 2%
interest is availed by State and 1.75% by Central Government. Bank
has dues of 11 Crores with Central Government on this account.
Corporation bye-election likely to generate new political equations:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation bye-election in ward# 13 is likely
to generate new political equations with upcoming of a new political
party from unsatisfied existing members. No developmental works and
continued clashes could be reasons of severity for these wiling to
separate Corporators.

District administration and construction field tussles over sand:
Jalgaon District administration's sand auction tenure has ended and
as a result, administration has stopped availing sand from riverbanks
and its resources. This has led to drastic shooting of sand rates
in region used in construction of houses. Jalgaon district administration
has initiated its process of tendering and has quoted some time requirement
for procedural formalities. It has seized 18 tractors carrying sand
without permission and has quoted continuation of drive to catch further.
Administration's commercial approach has led to shooting up of construction
rates in entire region.
Banana rates continue to fluctuate:
Khandesh banana continued dropping rates trend has finally stopped
in August. Banana rates have hiked up by Rs. 50 per quintal on 15th
August. Currently banana rates have touched Rs. 460 per quintal mark
for good quality while normal ones are at Rs. 410. Increasing rates
after a span of 3-months span has led to cheer in farming community.
An overview on Parsi community in Jalgaon:
Jalgaon, Bhusawal and Amalner region has around 25-30 Parsi families.
This includes Amreliwala, Jalgaonwala, Fanibanda, Daruwala, Batliwala,
Pajnigara, Kavina, Mistri, Kotwal, Ilu, Adjania, Batiwala and Pesuna
families. The community apart from being humble and soft has wonderful
social approach as well. Jahangirji Jalgaonwala was first comers in
this region in 19th Century end for ginning and pressing works. Many
of community members are in Bhusawal as earlier Railways senior officials
included large number of this community member.
District Police recruitment drive:
Jalgaon District Police mega recruitment drive continued on third
day with fitness test. Until now 66 out of 301 candidates have been
selected for written test. Administration has scrutinized around 2,500
candidate applications, has rejected 1,221 and conducted test of rest
1,372. Today rest 3,000 candidate test would be conducted.
Inter-school Cricket competition: A. T. Zambre School wins:
A. T. Zambre School team has won Jalgaon District Sports Association
conducted first late Dahad Under-12 Cricket competition. St. Lawrence
team won runner up award. In all 24 Schools participated in the competition.
Zambre School bowler Santosh Badgujar won Best Bowler Award, St. Teresa
School students Hrishikesh Patil won Best Wicket Keeper and Nikhil
Borse won Best Batsman along with Akshay Kolhe winning Best Captain
and Man of the Series Award.
19th August:
Jalgaon Corporation Commissioner transferred:
State Authorities have issued transfer to Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation's
Commissioner to Ahmednagar. Additional District Magistrate has been
assigned with additional charge of Corporation until further orders.
He joined Jalgaon Corporation a year ago. Jalgaon city continues to
witness bad luck on powerful administration that could drastically
change and boost city's overall development.
Over 7,000 students a year for abroad education from Khandesh:
Khandesh region's over 7,000 natives visit abroad for education, Jobs,
tourism and to their relatives. Jalgaon district is on top of this
list followed by Dhule and Nandurbar. All three districts are witnessing
increase in number of passport users by 5-7,000 per year. Authorities
have issued passport to 4,273 natives in Jalgaon District's during
year 2006 and to 2,774 during current year as on 10th August 2007.
Every district Police head quarter has special passport cell to boost
passport issue process.
Khandesh Kanbai "Rot" festivity today:
Entire Khandesh region is celebrating Khandesh deity Kanbai-Ranbai
Rot festivity. Yaduvanshiya Arya times Ahirani speaking 18 communities
celebrate this festivity. Rural area has major attraction of this
festivity with traditional values to this festive.
Inter-school cricket competition:
Jalgaon District Cricket association organized Late Dahad Under-12
years cricket competition is in full pace. A. T. Zambre School and
St. Teresa Schools would play final matches today. Zambre team defeated
Corporation School#10 while St. Teresa defeated G. S. High School.
Prize distribution ceremony is immediately after match.
18th August:
State calls for speedy processing of Jalgaon Airport work:
After super-hit presidential candidature of Jalgaon, it is high time
for State and District Administration to come up with good amenities
with this reference. State authorities have issued a letter to district
administration demanding immediate and speedy processing for allocation
of land for airport in 30kms area of city. Administration earlier
has sent 400 acres land requirement. Maharashtra State Airport Development
Authority has rejected the existing 100 acres land. Likely and most
discussed locations amongst Jalgaonities for new airport land are
Shirsoli (Pachora Road), Bhusawal Road (including Bhusawal City).
Police recruitment craze: Over 7,000 applications for mere 151
constable posts:
Government and especially Police job craze continues by hyperactive
for regional youth. Jalgaon city yesterday witnessed never-before
kind of huge youth rush from all nearby regions in response to district
police floated recruitment advertise for 151 constable posts.
District Police has received record-breaking 7,284 applications on
first day of its mega recruitment drive at Police ground.
It has sold over 9,000 applications for this process. This applicant
list includes 6,685 male and 600 female candidates also. Authorities
would scrutinize all applications today and conduct fitness test of
every 1,400 candidates per day.
Shahar Vikas Aghadhi gets Official Registration:
The new political equation that came into existence in region during
Bhusawal Municipal Council elections finally has nod from State authorities.
The Aghadhi received a letter from State Authorities yesterday on
this approval.
Political circles further estimate this Aghadhi would play its own
cards in upcoming elections with concepts like Khandesh Development
Congress Party on its roll.
17th August:

Plans:
Jalgaon DPDC sub-committee in its meeting yesterday reviewed year
2008-09 various developmental projects and plans worth Rs. 52 Crores.
Meeting had presence of Collectorate, ZP CEO and other officials with
district planning office team.
Committee reviewed District development plan of Rs. 52 Crores for
general development, 22.31 Crores for backward tribes and community
development schemes and 20 Crores for scheduled caste development
plans. Jalgaon district is ranked 9th in State on growth rate and
is at 15th place on per capita income ratio.
Jalgaon's soldier Bharat Patil receives Presidential Army Medal:
Gandhli (Amalner) army man Bharat Kautik Patil has been honored with
Presidential Army Medal by central defense ministry. He is currently
posted at India - Pakistan Border on Udi Sector command post.
Corporation begins Ward# 13 Election process:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation Administration has begun its process
for election in Ward#13. This seat has been vacated following Court
Order disqualifying Corporator on grounds of having third children.
EC has ordered Administration to publish electoral by 28th August.
Meanwhile Corporation has installed Metal detector on 17-story building
Damrun (Chalisgaon) Village refuses Village Cleanliness Drive
award:
Damrun (Chalisgaon) Village Panchayat has turned down recently announced
State Saint Gadge Baba Village Cleanliness Drive Vasanthrao Naik Water
management Award. Panchayat authorities have expressed dissatisfaction
over choosing Nashik district's village in cleanliness drive.
Inter-school Cricket competition: Corporation school, Zambre School
enters Semis:
District Cricket Association organized Late Dahad Trophy Under-12
Inter-school cricket competition is in full swing. Corporation School#10
and Zambre schools have entered into Semi-finals by winning their

Khandesh region's educational hub North Maharashtra University is
celebrating its 17th Anniversary today. The University has publicized
its first five years plan as a part of its Vision 2020 document.
Amongst top focus includes Networking, Professional Education and
Job-oriented curricula along with good focus on career training and
placement cell. It also emphasizes in good improvements in its examination
and paper evaluation system along with Teachers and other staff training

Corporation receives three proposals for its land sale:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has received three offers for its
proposed selling of vacant land in prime areas of Jalgaon city. Old
Sane Guruji Hospital Land in Baliram Peth area admeasuring 2441.50
Square meters has been priced at 11,000 Rs. Per square meter (on maximum)
valued at 2.68 Crores. Old Municipal Council building land admeasuring
2,598.75 square meters has been valued at Rs. 20,007 per square meter
valued at 5.19 Crores. Khwajamiya slum vacated land admeasuring 10,296.60
square meters has been valued at 3,456 per square meter valued at
3.55 Crores.
Corporation has received nine proposals and has opened all yesterday.
It is now evaluating legal aspects of possibility of selling Corporation
land as per legal framework. Snazzy Administration now also plans
to take State Government opinion on possibility of selling.

Monsoon pleasure: Girana dam reaches 85% storage mark:
Region's one of major reservoirs Girana dam has touched 85% storage
marks after continued raining in entire region. This is fourth continuous
year that Girana dam is about to reach 100% storage marks. Authorities
are likely to open few gates of this dam following continuous increase
in water levels in recent times.
Dalichand Jain honoured with "Shanti Bhushan Award":
Bharitya Jain Sanghatna has honored Jalgaon region's senior social
activist and humble personality Dalichand Jain with Shanti Bhushan
Award. He heads Jain community in Jalgaon and has cherished and always

Belganga Sugar factory to restart shortly:
Political movements have begun to restart Belganga Sugar factory in
Chalisgaon. The board yesterday conducted a meet of sugarcane farmers,
transporters to further encouragement. The Board aims to take financial
aid from a Baroda based entrepreneur to recover and kick start its
activities. It also aims at starting honey as sugarcane bye-product
by establishing distillery project estimated at 1-1.50 Crores cost.
12th August:
Jalgaon's Milk revolution: Another year of glory in milk revolution:
Jalgaon District Co-operative Milk Producer's Union formally and popularly
known as VIKAS in Jalgaon has another year of achieving milestone
with annual turnover of Rs. 115 Crores and 8.21% annual growth. Vikas
has achieved 139,921 liters a day average milk sales with 91% of procured
milk sold in loose milk and rest 9% in milk produces. It has procured
55,669,892 liters of milk throughout a year averaging 152,520 liters
per day. The union has ambitious plans to achieve 500,000 liters a
day milk sales by 2010.
Union has receives ISO 9001:2000, ISO 2000: 2005 and ISO 14001: 2004
international certifications for excellence in its quality and overall
aspects.
The NDDB administered union has also produced 29,060 metric tones
of cattle feed produces from its Bhadli Cattle feed plant. Union'
year 1995 reserved losses have gone down to six Crores.
Chopda Municipal Council receives Rs. 2.18 Crores fund for water
supply project:
Chopda Municipal Council has received Central Government's 2.18 Crores
funds under UIDSSMT scheme 80% sponsorship for enhancements in its
water supply, storage and filtering capacities. The State government
avails 10% and Council has to spare 10% to complete the project.
Chopda city as of now has two 11 Lakh liters each water storage tanks
in Mahavir Colony and Swatantrya Colony. This project aims at constructing
two more tanks with estimated budget of 115.67 Lakhs - one at water
purifying centre and another near Thalner Gate with 11 Lakh and 12.50
Lakh liters storage capacity respectively. It also plans to lay 24Kms
new drinking water supply pipelines in new areas of city. Chopda council
has turned to be first council in Nashik division having received
funds under this scheme.
Prof. Dr. Khadke receives Shiv Chhatrapati Award:
Jalgaon's one on well-known sportsman and social activist Prof. Dr.
Narayan Khadke has receives Year 2005-06 Shiv Chhatrapati Award honored
by State Sports Directorate. This award distribution ceremony is on
29th August on eve of Sports Day at Latur.
District Co-operative Societies and Banks AGM period:
The August month has turned to be hectic and high times for Co-operative
movement in District. Most of co-operatives have Annual General Meetings
(AGM) during this period especially during weekends. The Co-operative
Department has made mandate of conducting AGM during period from 15th
July until 14th August. Jalgaon district has around 800 co-operative
societies and banks and this leads to flourishing and high volume
time for printing, catering and gift accessories industries.
Palod and M. J. teams win Sports authority conducted Table tennis
competition:
Jalgaon District Sports Council and Sports Authority jointly conducted
Table tennis competition went on with cheering participation. Palod
School won under-17 boys category by defeating St. Aloysius Bhusawal
team. M. J. defeated Bendale College team in Corporation area under-19
category boys match and M. J. Girls defeated St. Teresa in same category.

Corporation land selling: Three bids received:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has received 3 bids for its proposed
selling of 3 vacant prime area lands owned. Yesterday was last date
of filling EMD amount. Corporation has taken Rs. 3.20 Lakhs for Khwajamiya,
5.80 Lakhs for Old Municipal Council building and 2.63 Lakhs for Old
Sane Guruji Hospital Land as earnest money. Last date of filling bids
is 12PM of 13th August followed by opening of bids on same day at
4PM. All three bids EMD received are of Individuals.
Loni Bk (Parola) Army man dies at Kargil:
Loni Bk (Parola Taluka) native Soldier Bharat Kalu Patil has died
in encounter with terrorist at Kargil on 09th August. Aged at 47,
his bravery and immortal fight against anti-nationals and highest
duty realisation has added another feather of devotion to Jalgaon
district's patriotism. He joined army in 1980 and was leading 108
Engineering regiment at field 484 since last two years at Kargil.
His funeral is on Sunday, 12th August at his native place in full
national honour.
Fire at Khadka Sub-Division causes 50 Lakhs losses:
Maharashtra State Electricity Company Khadka Sub-divisional electricity
producing unit in Bhusawal transformer units caught fire at around
1PM. This fire in switchyard has caused losses of 50 Lakhs to the
Company as per primary estimates. This fire has not caused any discrepancies
in electricity supply in the region.
Damrun Village Panchayat receives Rural Cleanliness Naik Award:
Damrun (Chalisgaon) Panchayat has won wastewater management Vasantrao
Naik Award in Rural Cleanliness drive in Nashik division. Hivrebazar
in Nagar won first prize along with Gondegaon (Nashik) winning runner
up prize.
NMU receives UGC Infonet 85 Lakhs grant:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon has received Rs. 85 Lakhs special
grants from UGC under Information and Community Technology enhancements.
This will enable wireless network connectivity in entire NMU campus
along with ability to get additional student services like syllabus,
time table, hall tickets, notes and application forms through NMU's
proposed new website.
10th August:
Monsoon 2007: Ainpur life normalises:
Following low to no raining in last 48 hours, the Tapi River rainwater
has settled down and life has normalised in entire zone. Earlier disconnected
Raver Taluka villages Ainpur, Nimbol and Vitva are now back on normal
track. Hatnur dam backwater in these days caused losses to farms in
nearby region.
Girana dam has touched 80% marks. Administration has announced recharging
Bhokarbari, Mhaswa and Bori dam from extra flowing water from Girana
dam. It has also issued warnings to those living on banks of Girana
dam region.
Corporation standing committee approves various topics:
Standing committee meeting yesterday has approved various topics on
its agenda yesterday. Amongst topmost topics, include awarding of
Cleanliness contract of city at Rs. 58 Lakhs per month. It also accepted
Intrest payment at 12% if payments delayed after 15 days.
Same contract was awarded last year at 22.40 Lakhs per month. New
contractor has proposed 966 workers each with minimum 137 Rupees payment.
However, contract has no mandate of number of workers.
District administration appoints 16 spreading diseases control
committees:
Jalgaon District Health Authorities have appointed one committee in
each Taluka to monitor and control spreading diseases during raining
season along with district committee synchronising all groups. Committee
consist of a medical officer, assistant health along with Arogya-Sevak.
District's all 77 primary healthcare centres and sub-centres have
adequate medicines with vehicles for moving patients in case of emergency.
09th August:
Hatnur dam's all 41 gates opened: mega flooding in Tapi River:
Administration has opened up all 41 gates of Hatnur dam yesterday
night to discharge increasing amount of raining water in Tapi and
Purna River origin areas. This has led to mega flooding to Tapi River
and chances of drowning of some of villages of banks of River. Dam
backwater has led to no communications with Ainpur, Nimbol and Vitva
villages of Raver Taluka.
Administration has posted lifeguard boats as a precautionary measure
in this region along with home guards special team of swimmers to
escape in case of emergency. Raver Taluka had no raining yesterday.
Suki River still struggles to get water while Bhokri and Matran have
very low amount of water.
ZP Agricultural department calls for use of Central aid:
District Council (ZP) agricultural department has called for farmers
from SC, ST and women category to benefit from Central Government
sponsored grains development programme 2007-08 offering aid for buying
HDPE pipes. Scheme avails 210 meters pipe of 75mm diameter valued
at 18,550. It avails 33% grant to this amount valued at 6,121 rupees
and is applicable on buying only registered category HDPE pipes. Please

details.
NMU vision document public representatives meet on 11th August:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon is conducting a meet of all public
elected and representing leaders to discuss and finalise its vision
document. Meeting would have participation of all leaders from Jalgaon,
Dhule and Nandurbar districts. It aims at arriving at vision document
until 2020 with good focus and balanced approach to its curricula.
Pachora gets Computerised Railway Reservation counter:
After years of struggle, Pachora has finally received Railways PRS
service. Bhusawal Division is inaugurating this PRS on 15th August.
Pachora has demanded this reservation system since last 25 years,
has received after tiring efforts, and follow up. Nearby Nandura in
Buldhana and Nepanagar in Khandwa districts are also getting PRS system
shortly.
08th August:
Raining continues: Hatnur dam's 36 gates opened:
Vidarbha and MadhyaPradesh heavy raining has led to continuous increase
in water levels of Tapi River. This has led to opening of 36 gates
of Hatnur dam since yesterday night. Administration has sent alerts
to those living on banks of River.
Nimbol and Ainpur in Raver Taluka have lost contact with rest following
increase in water levels. Dam is now discharging rainwater heavily
and is at 210meters water level with danger level set at 214 meters.
Meanwhile raining continued yesterday as well in medium showery form
throughout district.
Corporation land selling: Opposition files complaint with State
Secretariat:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation opposition party members have filed
complain with State Urban development ministry on Corporation's recently
announced land selling at 11 Crores base price. Corporation has announced
selling of its vacated prime space land at Khwajamiya, Old Municipal
Council location and Sane Guruji Hospital land.

Jalgaon District Sports Association has offered scholarship to R.
R. School student and District Taekwondo player Komal Narendra Mahajan.
She has won 4 Gold, 2 silver and one bronze medal on state level along
with one bronze on National level.
District level Inter-school table tennis competition:
Palod School Jalgaon team has won Jalgaon District Council and District
Sports Authority jointly conducted under-14 inter-school table tennis
competition by defeating P. B. School Amalner team. Rustomji School
won by 3-0 defeating St. Teresa in under-17 Category. R. R. Girls
won girls category match defeating St. Teresa team.
District Jail gets solar lights:
Government and semi-government setups having tough times to tackle
with load shedding have found another alternative to power. Jalgaon
District Jail now has solar lights in 14 barracks with MLA funds.
Administration has sent proposal for increase of one barrack following
overloading. Jalgaon Jail now has 14 barracks having capacity of 200
and in actual is having 523 jailed. These lights have 5 hours backup
time.
07th August:
Chopda Sugar factory elections: Ruling panel sails the boat:
The ruling Co-operative Panel in Chopda Co-operative sugar factory
has sailed in the ruling boat by winning 13 out of 22 seats in the
election. The challenger "Parivartan" panel succeeded in
securing 9 seats. The ruling panel's 6 existing directors lost their
positions while fighting panel's one director lost his seat. Factory
election voting completed on 04th August and counting completed yesterday.
This is first time in district that a co-operative sugar factory election
turned so public and highlighted in media and campaigning as well.
It gives clear verdict of dominating political influence in Government
public agencies along with co-operative sector, which is harmful for
overall growth.
Meteorological department Kolaba predicts heavy raining in district:
The State meteorological department Kolaba lab has predicted around
12CM raining in Jalgaon district in upcoming 48 hours. Administration
has warned people living on banks of river with a caution note. Jalgaon
district has witnessed 381mm average raining as of now. Meanwhile
showery raining continued throughout district yesterday.
August Democracy Day: 78 complaints received:
District administration has received 78 complaints on eve of August
democracy day at Collectorate. It has verdict on 2 and sent 76 to
concerned departments for further action and response. This includes
revenue - 22, ZP - 15, Police - 5, Co-operative Department - 13, Electricity
Company - 1, Corporation - 8, Land records - 6 and others - 6.
District Kho-Kho player Dhansingh Pawar receives Scholarship:
Jalgaon district's only representative in State Kho-Kho competition
Dhansingh Ukha Pawar has received scholarship of Rs. 3,000/- for year
2006-07 from Sports and Youth affairs directorate. He has received
this scholarship on winning Gold medal in competition.

National Banana Council meets in October:
National Banana Research Centre and AIPUB jointly conducted National
Banana Council is at Trichy in Tamilnadu from 25th until 28th October.
The meet focuses on "Producing economically feasible quality
banana productivity." Meet would have various other technology
related demonstrations and discussions to improve productivity and
district farmers playing key role in conference have invited all farmers
to visit this council.
Raver Sugar factory board plans to avail factory on rental:
Karjod (Raver) based Raver Taluka Co-operative Sugar factory Board
of Directors met yesterday and have finalised to avail factory on
rentals. Meeting had participation of Sugar Directorate, Owing bank
and BOD. Board has approved renting factory for a period from 2007-08
until 2011. Factory has made only one processing since starting up
and was rented at 1.90 Crores per ton. JDCC Bank has dues of Rs. 149.14
Lakhs and 354.32 Lakhs Intrest with the factory. No current employees
of factory have received any salary since 25 months and it has reported
5-6 Crores sugar lying with factory.

Entire Khandesh region continues to witness showery medium raining
since last two days. Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar districts have reported
showery to medium raining with heavy raining at some places in last
two days. Authorities have opened up 16 gates of Hatnur dam by 1 inch
and 4 gates are fully open to discharge water from dam.
Meanwhile district administration and council have reported damages
of around 15 Crores 67 Lakhs to various roads in district due to last
month raining. Last year record break raining caused damages of around
100 Crores to basic infrastructural resources of district. This year
raining has damaged roads at 7 places to State Highways, at 18 places
to District's major bridges and temporary blocks. Rural area has reported
most of damages with Yaval Taluka on the top reporting 65 Lakhs and
Chopda on lowest with 3.50 Lakhs.
District Administration receives Rs. 6 Crores cotton producers
Share Capital interest:
District Administration has received Rs. 6 Crores 85 Lakhs funds towards
Cotton producers share capital interest instalment. It has availed
this interest for period from 01st July 2004 until 31st March 2006.
This fund includes Rs. 5 Crores 71 Lakhs 77,214 Rupees for Jalgaon
district's 262,594 farmers.
Chopda Sugar factory elections: 81.40% voting - Counting on Monday:
Chopda Co-operative Sugar factory 22 posts election went on peacefully
yesterday with 81.40% voting turnout. In all 7,215 voters out of total
8,865 voters practised their voting rights from Chopda, Adavad, Gorgavale,
Chahardi and Hated blocks.
Votes' counting is at Arts, Commerce and Science College Gymkhana
on Monday, 06th August from 8AM. Clear picture would arrive by evening.
Corporation standing committee approves doubling of escort fees:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation standing committee has approved
doubling of escort fees applicable for transporting vehicles crossing
Jalgaon to 100 Rs. Each. It has also approved building of public toilets
at Nathwada and Kanjarwada, selling of blocks in auction basis at
Mutton market along with various other topics.
Committee has cancelled Pay, Park and ordered no refunds of security
deposit of contract awarded following no recoveries, and practical
implementation of this newly introduced tax.
04th August:
Corporation General Body approves sales of 3 prime properties for
11 Crores:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation general body has approved selling
of Old Corporation building premise; Sane Guruji Hospital vacated
land and Khwajamiya slum vacated land for mere Rs. 11 Crores. The
body approved sales on receipt of this or above base price, amount
and should be used to repay Corporation loan burden. Committee further
suggested building of BOT basis complexes if no proposals received
for such property. The decision was taken after prolong discussions
amongst opposition demanding availing parking services first in city
areas and then finalise on this.
The body has also approved 13 topics on its agenda. Ruling party members
proposed housing development in Shivaji Nagar slum opposite federation
was rejected. Body has unanimously approved shifting of budgetary
allocations of Housing funds of Rs. 7.75 Crores for road development
and repair works. Corporation standing committee would meet today
to further discussion various topics.
Wonderful Monsoon raining eases weather:
Whole Jalgaon District witnessed medium to heavy raining yesterday
evening for hours. Showering continued until late nights. Arrival
of raining has satisfied farmers anxiously waiting for good raining
for their standing kharip crop. Raining has also reduced climatic
humidity and relaxed temperature as well. Authorities have fully opened
up 4 gates and partially opened a gate of Hatnur dam to control increasing
water pressure in dam. Nagjhiri, Suki, Bhokri rivers have witnessed
flooding due to heavy raining in their region.
Chopda Sugar factory voting today:
Amongst another tough political tussle, Chopda Sugar factory would
witness voting for 22 seats. Administration has made adequate arrangements
for smooth conduct of election process with tight security. There
are in all 8,827 voters and 50 candidates in fray for 22 seats. Sahakar
and Parivartan are two panel each having 22 and 20 candidates respectively
along with 8 Independent candidates. Voting is from 8AM until 5PM.
This election has turned another mega political tussle in last week
with hefty media campaigning by both panels.
ZP standing committee proposes Rs. 167 Crores Road works:
Jalgaon District Council (ZP) standing committee has approved various
road development and repair works worth Rs. 167 Crores in district.
Amongst other decisions made include approving tenders for lake development
under rural development funds, reinvesting of rural development fund,
setting up of committee for buying invertors for health department.
Committee has proposed new roads and earlier repair works under Prime
Minister Rural Road Development scheme estimated at 167 Crores.
NMU approves 10 new Competitive Exam study centres:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon has approved 10 new competitive
examination study centres in Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar districts.
It has approved these centres seeing previous year introduced 3 centres,
one each in every district. These new centres would start functioning
from 01st September.
03rd August:
State Transport Workers Association withdraws strike:
Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation Workers Associations
have withdrawn their protest strike called yesterday after final discussions
with State Transport secretary. No State Transport buses led to chaos
to daily commuters and caused huge rush in Trains and private buses.
This strike has led to around Rs. 31 Lakhs losses to Jalgaon Depot
of ST having around 600 schedules per day.
Corporation General Body meeting today: Important decision on
selling prime location Corporation properties today
"Need of Agricultural based industries in rural areas"
evokes Vision NMU discussion meet:
North Maharashtra University yesterday called a meeting to further
explore and arrive at vision NMU document. The meet evoked need of
setting up industries based on agricultural inputs in rural areas.
This will lead to research oriented approach in agriculture and attachment
of youth in farming. Meet further discussed Khandesh agricultural
capacities and need to introduce curricula based on fine alignment
of agriculture, industries and public. Meet had participation from
Appropriate Rural Technology Institute director along with Khandesh
leading farmers and "Krishi Bhushan" honoured dignitaries.
College admission process continues:
Most of Colleges under North Maharashtra University continued their
admission process in various undergraduate courses in all streams.
There are in all 82 Senior Colleges in North Maharashtra University
region comprising of Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar districts. These
colleges 187 classes (batches) permitted with total intake capacity
of 22,440 students in first year for all streams. This year 19,017
students cleared H.S.C. Exam. Jalgaon city has around 5,000 seats
for various undergraduate courses.
02nd August:
State Transport Workers announces strike from today:
Public transportation system is in troubles with Maharashtra State
Road Transport Corporation workers unions announcing protest strike
against State announced legalisation of Maxi Cab running services.
The union in its press statement has expressed its anguish of State
Government not taking it in confidence before confirming such important
decisions amidst its continued protest to stop illegally done public
transporting.
Income Tax returns filling:
Income Tax office Jalgaon has received 45,026 Income Tax returns until
31st July, last date of filling returns. Income Tax office Jalgaon
has two ranges to control entire District taxation. CBDT has not announced
any extension to return filling date.
Jalgaon Income tax office has 62,247 Income tax payers in range-1
covering Jalgaon City and Chopda Taluka along with Co-operative societies
while Range-2 has 60,175 taxpayers covering rest of district. Income
Tax department has recently introduced new forms of return.
Bhusawal Thermal Power Station receives Green-Tech Award:
Bhusawal Thermal Power Station (BTPS) has received Silver Medal in
08th Annual Green-Tech Awards for year 2007. The Station has received
this award for its outstanding work in ecological balancing during
year 2006. This award is honoured by Greentech Foundation New Delhi
and is second in run for BTPS.
St. Joseph School wins District level football competition:
St. Joseph Convent English School has won Under-14 and Under-17 Corporation
Area Football competition hosted at Nutan Maratha College ground.
It defeated A. T. Zambre school team in final match by 1-0. In Under-17
category, St. Joseph boys defeated Anglo Urdu School by 1-0.
State level Marathon competition: Jalgaon's Swapnali Sonawane
and Mumbai's Shinde wins:
Jalgaon District Athletics Association organised District School Marathon
and State Marathon went on in cheerful environment. Mumbai athlete
Savalram Shinde won State boys category for second continued year
by completing in 1 hour 21 minutes and 52 seconds. Bendale College
student athlete Swapnali Kailas Sonawane has won Girls State level
competition. In all 1,754 athletes participated in open category and
1,516 in school category.

District Police beefs up security after information on a gang:
Jalgaon District Police has beefed up security throughout district
after receipts of reports of gangs reaching through trains. Police
yesterday night made intensive searches at Bhusawal and Jalgaon Railway
Stations. All trains arriving from Nagpur side towards Mumbai were
searched. Police team included Force, rapid action force and commandos
in large numbers.
District Administration orders Girana dam water release in Bori
dam:
Jalgaon District Administration has ordered special release of Girana
dam water into Bori dam to control and Smoothen Parola Taluka region
water supplies. Parola Taluka as of has just 328mm raining. Most of
raining has fall into other than Bori River region leading to no stock
in dam. The dam supplies to Parola city, 12 villages of Taluka along
with 26 villages in Dhule district. Bori dam has been connected to
Girana dam under River-link project as a pilot project. This release
from Non-irrigation quota water release will rejuvenate water supplies
in dependent areas.
Manipur team wins Federation Cup National fencing competition:
Manipur team dominated first federation cup national fencing competition
played at Jalgaon and has won Federation cup. It only lost in Men's
Sabre category. Army and Jammu Kashmir teams won gold each.
Competition ended yesterday amidst enthusiastic participation and
play. Maharashtra team failed to secure medals in any of team events.
Manipur won 10 out of 12 Gold medals in this competition.
