31st March:
Anti-VAT strike paralyses business:
The All India Business Associations called Nationwide 72 hours Strike to protest Value Added Tax caused panic amongst customers on hectic March end period. The strike termed 100% successful by associations paralysed routine business transactions and most of markets remained closed throughout the District. The Business Associations conducted meetings and information chats with its fellow members awareness dangerous clauses powered in VAT framework.
The Jalgaon District Businesses Confederation termed VAT Tax as "Value Added Tension" offering harmful powers to officer's lobby. The Confederation is also conducting its mega VAT Protest march on 01st April 2005 and is expecting presence of thousands of businessmen around District.

Its March End time:
With March ending today, the financial year 2004-05 will end today. 31st March is high time for Nationalised, Co-operative and major Governmental Institutions finalising their annual sheets. All major banks will remain open today till late evening to finalise their annual performance sheets.

30th March:
All India Businesses begins their toughest Anti-VAT strike today:
All India Business communities have begun their 72 hours protest strike against Government's new Taxation Formula of Value Added Tax. The Jalgaon District business associations are also supporting this strike and are conducting meetings for awareness regarding new impositions in VAT.

Chalisgaon's Hero Shines with "Best Engineer of the Year" Award:
It's high point for Chalisgaon city with its native Prashant Vasudev Nikumbh selected for "Best Engineer of the Year" Award constituted by Arvin USA. Prashant will receive this honour on 13th April 2005 at Frankfurt, Germany.

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation Budget Passed:
The Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation General Body meeting unanimously passed Jalgaon Budget 2005 with certain amendments and drops. Amongst major drops is Cancellation of Proposed Water Tax hike and detailed debate and proposal drafting on proposed selling of Fule Market Shops on Ownership basis.

North Maharashtra University Annual Budget:
The NMU Management Council put forward Budget 2005 with Rs. 2 Crores 63 Lakhs loss. The 2005-06 Budget has huge proposal of Rs. 1 Crore for Computerisation. The Budget estimates Income of Rs. 36.12 Crores while expenditure of Rs. 38.75 Crores resulting in total Reserved Loss to 5.32 Crores until now.
The Budget proposes Computerisation for Competitive Exams, Exam Section, and Closed Circuit TV for Exam Section, 20 Lakhs for Sports Complex, 50 Lakhs for Software for Exam Section, 20 Lakhs for Social Science Building, 15 Lakhs for Electrification of NMU surrounding area, 5 Lakhs for preparatory exams support centre.

29th March:
Jalgaon Business Associations supports Nationwide Strike:
The Jalgaon District Business Confederation has decided to support proposed 72 hours strike beginning 30th March to protest new Value Added Tax regime. The Association meeting conducted on Monday evening had presence of Hardware Association, Ekta Kirana Association, Dana Bazar Association and many other businesses.
The Association wide its Media campaign has defined VAT as "Value Added Tension" demanding removal of high rise terms empowering officers to arrest businessman in many circumstances. It also demands removal of certain daily used and fast time used items like Coconut, Sago and a few others from VAT Applicability criteria. The Government on other front terms VAT as "Simple, Transparent, and Progressive" Tax and is also conducting massive campaigns to entrust VAT.

District "Parit Dhobi" community group marriage on 30th April:
The Jalgaon District Parit Dhobi community is hosting group marriage programme on 30th April 2005 for its needy section of society. Please contact community heads for registration and more information thereof.

North Maharashtra University Budget today:
The North Maharashtra University Jalgaon administration is presenting its Annual Budget 2005 today in Senate meeting. The NMU Senate comprises of 98 members. The Budget is expected to focus more on Computerisation of Result Processing System, developments of Sports Complex and Earn and Learn Scheme.

Jalgaon region gets "Khandesh Package" aid:
The Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation along with Yaval, Bhusaval, and Faijpur Municipal Councils has received around Rs. 4 Crores State Government Grant under "Khandesh Development Fund". Of this 4 Crores, the Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has received 1.32 Crores grant for buying vehicles, Fire Fighters and other development works.

All India Businesses on strike for 72 hours from 30th March:
It's high March end time and amongst toughest decisions the business communities around India have decided to go against Value Added Tax regime beginning from 01st April. The Business associations have called for 72 hours strike beginning 30th March 2005 until 01st April 2005.

Special Programmes on eve of Angaraki Chaturthi tomorrow:
The only Angaraki Chaturthi falling in this calendar year is on tomorrow 29th March 2005. Region's God Ganesha famous temple Padmalaya Taluka: Erandol and Tarsod Taluka: Nashirabad have special programmes to commemorate this eve. The Jalgaon city alone has many Ganesha Temples and has immense faith on Lord Ganesha blessings.

Amalner city gets Computerised Railway Reservation Counter:
The Amalner City is getting Computerised Railway Reservation Counter with effect from 29th March 2005. This reservation will facilitate passengers from region and increased traffic on Surat Line.

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation Budget Meeting on Tuesday:
The Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation's Budget debate and passing meeting is on Tuesday, 29th March. The JCMC Authorities presented 39.60 Crores surplus Budget totalling to Rs. 142.80 Crores planning. The Meeting on Tuesday will finalise various important provisions suggested by Administration that includes Selling of Phule Market Shops on Ownership basis and many others.

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation Meeting Special:
The JCMC special meeting conducted on Thursday unanimously decided to reject implementing Octroi styled Entry Tax in Jalgaon from 01st April. Amongst other decisions includes imposing penalty of previously awarded Airport and road contractor for non-completion of terms.
Amongst most useful ones is decision to build up flyovers on roads crossing National Highways in area like Prabhat Colony, Shiv Colony etc. The meeting formed a committee to follow up Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation in this regards.

Jalgaon's native Indrajit Pandit secures 14th Rank in GATE Exam:
Indrajit Gunvant Pandit, a VJTI Mechanical Engineering Last year student from Jalgaon has secured 14th Rank by scoring 99.2% marks in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) Exam conducted by IIT. A Ex-Josephian by school and Ex- MJ Merit ranker from Jalgaon, Indrajit has sparkled another chapter of glory for Jalgaon.

Summer Special: District's 338 villages face acute drinking water scarcity:
With summer 2005 soon arriving in full form, Jalgaon District's 338 villages are witnessing acute drinking water scarcity. The District Administration considering this severe issue is initiating various measures that include acquiring 59 wells, using Tankers to supply water in these regions.
The Action Plan initiated from March 2005 until June 2005 has budget of Rs. 1 Crore 93 Lakhs 22 thousand rupees. The worst hit Taluka in district is Jamner Taluka having 45 villages under shortage map and lowest hit is Raver taluka with just six villages facing problems.

Jalgaon District Council (ZP) presents its Annual Budget:
The Jalgaon District Council (ZP) finance committee has presented its annual surplus budget considering Jalgaon District development initiatives. The 68 members ZP has majority of BJP - Shivsena alliance and was established on 09th February 2002.
The Budget has surplus of Rs. 10.58 Crores for the first time. The budget allocates Rs. 16.80 Lakhs fund to Education Department, 55 Lakhs to Public Works Department, 20 Lakhs to Irrigation department, 43 Lakhs to Engineering Department, 25 Lakhs to Agriculture Department, 10 Lakhs to Forestry Department, 10 Lakhs to Animal-Husbandry department, 38 Lakhs to Social Development Department, 18.38 Lakhs to children development aid.

Central Assistance for needy youth:
The Central Government in view of strengthening youth from 10-19 age groups has announced special schemes. Under this scheme Educational Institutions, Engineering Colleges, University, Nehru Youth Centres, and other such institutions can enact as scheme supporters to pass on to community.

March End rush in Government Offices:
With March End arriving, business community is in a rush to file in their relevant Government documents that mainly includes Insurance Premium, Advance Taxes, Service Taxes, Sales Taxes etc. The Nationalised Bankers Staff is going on one-day token strike on 22nd March to protest Central Policies on banking sector employees. Followed by this strike are three consecutive National Holidays on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Postal Department will keep its office open even on 31st March 2005 to tackle the rush.

Chinawal's Dnyandev Mahajan receives "Aspee Farmer" Award:
Dnyandev Ganpat Mahajan, a Banana producing farmer from Chinawal of Raver Taluka will receive "Aspee Farmer" honour on 23rd March 2005. The Aspee Agricultural Foundation constitutes this Award to promote best of Farming every year.

NMU Council Elections on 15th May:
The North Maharashtra University is conducting Elections for 31 posts of Management Council seats, 10 posts of Education Council in its first phase of elections scheduled on 15th May 2005. The poll counting is on 17th May.
The Management council consist of 18 Principals representation, 8 Society heads, 5 PG Teachers. The Education Council consist of eight Principals from affiliated colleges and 2 society heads.

The Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation formed 2 years back on 21st March 2003 is attaining its 2 years tenure today. The Corporation enacted by State Government on 21st March has seen various rounds of change of administration and huge loan burden as its biggest challenges. Frequent Power cuts disrupt weekend life:
The whole of Jalgaon city witnessed frequent power outages throughout Saturday evening and Sunday troubling Jalgaonities a lot. The city area witnessed around 3-4 hours power cut on Saturday evening followed by another power cut of 3-4 hours on Sunday morning. The power cuts also resulted in irregular drinking water supply in many parts of city.

JDCC Bank announces Rs. 200 Crores Soft Loans provision for Farmers:
District's lead banker Jalgaon District Central Co-operative Bank has announced Rs. 200 Crores Soft Loan to District farmers for upcoming crop. The loan disbursement begins 01st April through Co-operative Societies in the region. There are 872 various Co-operative Societies in the region that enact as Member of JDCC bank for aiding farming community. The Bank has 493,496 Farmer members.

Panchayat Elections in Pachora Taluka:
Around 96 of 106 Panchayat Committees in Pachora taluka are finishing their tenure in September this year leading to fresh elections coming up. Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation presents its Annual Budget:
The Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation Authorities presented its Annual Budget 2005 on Saturday. The 142.80 Crores Budget estimating various amenities for Jalgaonities will now go to Standing Committee for finalisation.
The Budget proposes implementing Pay and Park concept, hiking up Water Tax to Rs. 1200/- per annum, Special efforts to save Water leakages, developing parks in city. The Authorities have given 8 days to all corporators to study the proposals. A Special General Meeting will be held after 8 days to pass the Budget.
Amongst important proposals, include selling of all shops in Fule Market on Ownership basis that will give an approximate earning of Rs. 33 Crores to Corporation to repay its huge loan burden. The Corporation owes Rs. 186 Crores Loan in various forms from various authorities.
The earning side indicates Rs. 80.42 Crores Taxes earning, Rs. 4.49 Capital earnings, and Khandesh Package aids of Rs. 1.30 Crores totalling to 84.91 Crores fund. Of these fund, 68.02 Crores fund goes in Establishment expenditure, Retirement funds, Electricity bills, Water bills, Loan repayments, Cleaning Contracts, Water purification materials, Diesel, and Petrol. It also proposes fund of Rs. 2.80 Crores for 10th and 11th Finance Commission, 2.80 Crores for Management and repairs, 1.25 Crores for Water supply in city, 1 Crore for Electricity supply, 1.06 Crores for various Governmental and Departmental expenses, and provisions of Rs. 2.35 Crores totalling to Rs. 79.84 Crores generating a Depository fund of Rs. 39.60 Lakhs.

The Art of Nurturing Talent: Part-1:
India is land full of talent and scholars and we people of Khandesh are not behind in the race. Many of our young talent serves best of Industries all around the globe making us feel proud and privileged. The Jalgaon district youth is full of confidence and aphorism and can set up in any work environment due to mixed communities and harmony all around.
Region's Pal, Khiroda, Raver produces many of young artists making fame all around the globe. The Amalner is birth soil of India's one of biggest software conglomerate Wipro's head Ajij Premji. Many of our Leva Patil Community Members are playing a very significant role in almost every work area at metros like Pune and Mumbai.
Then why the district with such high level of attire fails to progress? Is it simply because those moving out or turning high ignore their native role? Is our competitive business setup not giving enough temptation to nurture the talent? These are a few of questions that every one of us needs to think of in deep, we aught to find some resolution to these sensitive issues to lead to progress path.
Remuneration in fact plays a key role in fostering talent followed by Industry's adaptability to new technologies. The Business and service Sector plays a key role in recruiting talents and these sectors needs a greater level of reforms. Our talent gun is leaking out of our hands due to tough conditions to establish new things. The Copy trend instead of creativity trend makes it feel hard to promote new initiatives.
Most significant of all these is Consumerism. If a Customer is not visiting a new trend shop/ establishment, how could the party get an opportunity to display its talent? We need an upbeat to cheer up Consumerism instead of cost factor to lead to prosperity.

Summer Alert:
With summer 2005, all set to enter the Jalgaon District is at heat. The Jalgaon city witnessed season's highest of 40.5 Degrees on Friday, 18th March sending an alert sign for the upcoming summer. The one-step forward Bhusawal city noted 42 Degrees temperature on Friday. Last summer, Jalgaon witnessed highest of 45 Degrees on 01st June 2004.

State Cotton Procurement Pay Orders issue begins today:
The Maharashtra State Co-operative Cotton Confederation after buying cotton from 12th December 2004 until 28th February 2005 is finally beginning its Pay Order Distribution process for all procurement until 18th January. The Corporation procured around 30 Lakhs tonnes of Cotton in Jalgaon District.

18th March:
VAT Chaos continues:
The Value Added Tax continues to be most talked Taxation mayhem with business community throughout feeling uncertain. Earlier the Central Government's announcement of VAT Tax Implementation with effect from 01st April 2005 sent signals of joy in genuine business fellows.
However, with 31st March nearby and financial year ending, various other state Governments changing their plans not to imply VAT is deeply troubling and confusing VAT implementation. The Maharashtra State Government is yet to announce its Budget and is yet to make any official announcement regarding VAT implementation. The nearby Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh States are yet to clear their stand. The recent news reports stating Jharkhand not implementing VAT from 01st April is another issue of implication. The whole picture will clear only after 01st April as the financial year comes up.
The Business community throughout the Country has announced Business strike on 30th March, 31st March, and 01st April 2005. Jalgaon District Business community has also supported the strike.

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation appeals for city beautification:
The Public Works department of Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has urged all Industrialists, Private Parties, Social Organisations interested, and willing to work for city Beautification to attend a meet on 18th March 2005 at 4pm at JCMC administrative Building. The Corporation has taken up plan to smarten city's major traffic flowing "Chowk" that will add to beauty of city.

SSC Examination 2005:
The SSC Examination continues in full pace throughout the region with students in high study mood while parents a bit stressed worrying about performance of their children in the exam. Every year 50,000 plus students appears for SSC Exam from Jalgaon District of which many turns further to Commerce followed by Science Faculty. With changing scenario, the region now has many Junior Colleges throughout the Taluka and interior places followed by PG Level Courses at Taluka Headquarters.
After finishing HSC, most students willing for Higher Medical Education shift to Pune/ Mumbai, those preferring Engineering stays in Jalgaon considering good setup colleges available here, many of those willing for MBA and other specialised business courses moves ranked Institutes while others selects Jalgaon based colleges.

The Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation administration is gearing up for its 14th General meeting scheduled on 24th March 2005. The meeting highlights various reservation allocations in city. It includes passing renting up some space to Handicapped serving Mandal school, Developing Airport further, fixing Public, decision on building up new flyovers and Highway crossings in city, passing Octroi styled Tax as per State Government Order.
Amongst other issues include setting up rates of Taxation on plots and property in Jalgaon, setting up library in Jalgaon, using space fixed for Maternity centre cum hospital and Garden in setting up City Civic centre (another shopping complex), using Open space reserved for park in Housing setup, Using Mehrun social forestry space in housing etc.

17th March:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation completes two years:
The Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation completes its two years tenure on 21st March 2005. Established on 21st March 2003, the Corporation enacts as State and Local Public reformist media.
The JCMC Administration has announced various programmes on the eve that includes making City Clean and green by means of removing dust and waste from all around. The Corporation witnessed 4 Administrators rule during this period.

Time for Exams: NMU Exams begins 21st March:
The North Maharashtra University affiliated Colleges' various courses exam are beginning from 21st March 2005. Arts, Commerce, and Science First year Exam are from 10am to 1pm while Second Year exams are from 2pm to 5pm. Second Year Commerce exam begins 04th April, Second Year Science exam begins 05th April, and second year arts exam begins 08th April. PG courses exam begins 12th April 2005.

National Level Paper Presentation Contest at Bambhori Engineering College:
The Shrama Sadhna Trust Bombay owned College of Engineering and Technology Bambhori is hosting a National Level Paper Presentation Contest beginning today. The Contest includes participation of over 100 selected Papers in different areas of research and work.

15th March:
JCMC standing Committee unanimously rejects Octroi Styled Tax:
The Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation Standing Committee has unanimously resolved not to implement the Octroi Styled Tax in Jalgaon with effect from 01st April 2005. The same draft and resolution will now go in to State Government Authorities, which will finally decide the implementation.
The meeting headed by JCMC administrator and Committee chief also passed various other development works in the city.

Jalgaon District Co-operative Milk Producers Union gets Export License:
Jalgaon's crown Dudh Vikas has received go ahead signal from Centre for exporting its range of Milk Products. The Union witnessing best of its last 10 years yield in terms of production, sales and quality control has ISO and HACCP certification.
The State Government transferred this Union to NDDB Anand Control from 1995.

SSC Examination begins today in Jalgaon:
The Secondary School Certification Examination is beginning from 15th March all around Jalgaon District. Around 54791 students are appearing in this examination at 121 different exam centres. Of 54,791 students, 49,614 are Fresher while 5177 students are repeaters.

State Cotton repayment begins today:
Its time to rejoice for Farmers as State Government is beginning its Cotton Procurement payment process today. The CCI procured 27 lacs tonnes of Cotton from Jalgaon District farmers at its various centres located throughout the District. NAFED also begun cotton crop procuring in district with effect from 08th March 2005.

Thousands of BJP Activists held for Agitation:
Thousands of BJP Activists all around Jalgaon District were held by District Police today for making an agitated protest "Rasta Roko" March against Cotton, Electricity issues in the region. The agitation caused Traffic jam on National Highway for hours in afternoon time. Police later released all activists with a caution note.

Jalgaon's Golani Market and 17-Story buildings pledged:
The Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation's famous Golani Market and 17-story buildings have been pledged to Jalgaon District Central Co-operative Bank as a collateral security of hefty loan sum taken by the earlier city Council. The Corporation Authorities took this step after Aurangabad Bench of High Court directive to assure safety of loans repayment by the Corporation.

Octroi Styled Tax implementation decision on Monday:
The Jalgaon City Corporation's standing committee will decide implementation of Octroi Styled Tax in Jalgaon city in its meeting on 14th March. The new Tax heavily protested by business community is corporation's one major earning resource to pay salaries of its huge staffing and administration expenses. The Corporation until 31st March since last 3 years receives grant of around Rs. 2.51 Crores every month from State Government as compensation to Octroi removal.
The Aid if stopped will lead to No Salaries to employees of corporation and all major development work could lead to end. With a very few resources, heavy intrest and loan repayment burden, administration challenges, and last but not the least developing city with future view remains toughest task for IAS rankers holding Administrative chief posts in Jalgaon.

The Monday and Tuesday fall raining damaged standing Rubby crop in whole of region causing heavy losses for farming community. The District Administration has announced Rs. 1 Lac compensation to survivors of those died in the lightning on Tuesday within 48 hours.

Heavy raining sprees Jalgaon District:
The whole of Jalgaon District witnessed heavy to medium raining on whole Tuesday resulting in crop loss in many areas. The sky bursting killed four each one in Bhadgaon Taluka, Pachora Taluka, Yaval Taluka, and nearby region. The Bhadgaon taluka witnessed medium sized snow chilling the weather in later evening.

Raining in Jalgaon region:
The whole of Jalgaon region witnessed showery raining on Monday midnight around 1.30am for around 20 minutes. The showery raining resulted from hot and humid climate since last two days eased mercury scale.

Saint Muktai festivity:

Jalgaon City to have Octroi styled tax:
The Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation until now free from Octroi will have a Special Sub Tax with effect from 01st April 2005. The Octroi type sub tax collected on Goods arriving in the city will have various checkpoints throughout City Borders. Earlier the State Government announced no Implementation of Octroi Tax for at least 5 years from the formation of City Corporation.
The Corporation authorities have confirmed the implementation of this tax that could lead to a price increase of around 2-4% on commodity items along with problems and headache for business community. The Jalgaon City business community is enjoying no Octroi Tax since last 6 years.

Saint Muktaibai festivity begins tomorrow:
The Warkari community seer Saint Muktaibai festivity is beginning tomorrow at Historic Muktaibai Temple in Kothli village in MuktaiNagar Taluka. 03rd March:
Looting, Rap disheartens Jalgaonities:
The Jalgaonities continues to witness rock with two major cases of attack on home and looting and rapping marking shame of psycho plunder in region. In first case, a group of 12-15 Hindi spoken crooks attacked a house in Vikas Colony near Highway and flee with 22,000 cash and jewellery and assets worth Rs. 65,000 on Tuesday Midnight. In another incidence, another group of offenders attempted attack in Nimkhedi Shivar home that was turned down by residents with strong protest.
Marking most shaming event, a two-wheeler delinquent rapped a minor Class VI going Convent schoolchild when she was returning home on Tuesday afternoon. The incidence took place when person asked girl about a School's address and knowingly requested her to show the location by coming along with him. The innocent ill-fated girl caught in his trap went with that unknown person resulting in this reprehensible incidence. The Jalgaon Police after receiving FIR from Parents of Girl has arrested one in this connection and further investigation is going on.

District Jewellery Shops to remain closed today:
All jewellery Shops in Jalgaon District will remain closed today to protest newly announced Excise Tax of 2% on Branded Jewellery in Budget 2005. The District Jewellers Association in its meeting unanimously resolved to protest against the new enforcement that according to them will harm their business and trouble further.

Jalgaon's five gets Dr. Manibhai Desai National Service Award:
Jalgaon District's total five social service personalities including Madhukarrao Chaudhari have received Dr. Manibhai Desai National Service Award for Year 2004. Raining Statistics:
The sudden raining witnessed on Monday morning and later in night caused damages to standing "Rubby" crop mainly Wheat in the region. The Dharangaon Taluka witnessed maximum of 31mm raining throughout District while Erandol went on lowest with 0.01mm rainfall.

Unseasoned Raining spurs weather:
The whole of Khandesh region witnessed unseasoned rainfall on Monday evening leading to sudden weather change. The sudden showery to medium heavy raining on around 11am in morning and 7pm in evening caused damages to standing crop and wetted Cotton procured at CCI Buying Centres. The rainfall also caused Electricity fluctuating in many areas.

CCI closes Cotton Buying:
The CCI has closed its State Cotton Buying at all centres effective this Monday. All cotton farmers standing at the Centres were listed and will be allowed procurement. The CCI has procured 27 lacs quintal Cotton crop at various centres throughout the Jalgaon District.

HSC Examination 2005 begins today:
The HSC Examination 2005 is beginning today at all centres throughout Jalgaon District. There are 38,216 students appearing for the exam at 180 Centres in District.
