31st March:
Passports will be now issued from Jalgaon:
As per new norms of Maharashtra Government, the passports can be issued at District Police Superintendent's office itself. Jalgaon is among 41 other places where passport can be easily availed by filling up regular forms and applicants will no more be needed to go to Regional Passport Office, Mumbai.

29th March & 30th March:
Holi celebrated peacefully in Jalgaon:

The festival of Colours, "Holi" was celebrated in Jalgaon with full enjoyment and peace. People formed their own groups and celebrated Holi by Colouring each other and ending the programme with Lunch/ Dinner party. This year Water Shortage affected the festival with people wasting very less amount of water.

Its March ending, city gearing up for Year Ending:
Its year ending, a time when every one is in moods of settling down accounts and checking his/ her Balance Sheets and make a way to coming financial year. Government Dues, LIC Premiums, Income-Tax returns and Software Setup are the key issues on every one's mind. All Banks will remain open on Saturday, 30th March as well as Sunday 31st March to accept government dues.
On the other hand, students are a bit tensed and studious with Graduate and PG exams starting and flowing smoothly.

28th March:
Jalgaon's Tushar Waghulde plays role in Marathi Film:

Jalgaon's Tushar Rupchand Waghulde is playing a supporting actor role in "Satyamev Jayate" and "Sun Asavi Ashi" Marathi films.
He is a native of Savda, Taluka: Raver and student of M. J. College Jalgaon.

27th March:
Dharangaon's Mr. P. T. Lohar appointed as Police chief of Aurangabad:

Dharangaon, Taluka: Erandol's Mr. P. T. Lohar has been appointed as Chief of Police, Aurangabad on 25th March.
Earlier he was serving as Police Commissioner of Nashik division since 1996. He has been honoured by Presidential Award

26th March:
BSNL (Telephone Dept.) shows high level of Professionalism:
As it is rightly said, "If you decide, you can win everything." The same truth applies to BSNL officials at top level. After BSNL announcing its mega reduction in STD tariff, it launched mega customer campaigns to facilitate users all around.
With success at records in Jalgaon "Telephone Mela", it now launched same concept all around the Jalgaon district even at taluka places. It is estimated that around 2000 new connections were allotted by VSNL in just a week span of "Mela".

Drinking water problem intensifies in Jalgaon:
As summer is picking up the drinking water issue remains at topmost level with council decreasing it supply frequency every new week. Long queues are seen all around city at boring pumps to complete the water thrust.

24th March:
B. Tech. & B. Chem. exam results announced:
NMU conducted first and second year B. Tech., first and second year B. Chem. Exam January 2002 results were announced on 23rd March 2002. For obtaining results students are requested to contact their respective colleges.

23rd March:
Private Travels Strike comes to an end:
The long debated Private travel operators 73days strike came to an end with all operators starting their services from 22nd March 2002. 90 buses rendering services out of Jalgaon district were switched off due to this strike.
Further details of actual court orders are awaited but the strike has been called OFF and "All traffic will be as per regulations," says body of bus owners and drivers.

State Budget 2002 evoke mixed reactions:

The State Budget-2002 shown mixed reactions from different industries and common public with Sales Tax levels for many items increased and some decreased. No major reshuffle has been shown in this budget.

22nd March:
Maharashtra Budget-2002 today:

Finance minister of Maharashtra Mr. Jayant Patil will today deliver Budget-2002. This budget will be made online by Maharashtra Government website http://finance.mah.nic.in

Jalgaon's Aparna Bhatt honoured with Doctorate in "Katthak":
Jalgaon's Mrs. Aparna Bhatt has been honoured with Doctorate in "Katthak" and classical Indian dances by Indira Gandhi Arts College, Khairagad (Chattisgarh). With this she becomes first lady from Khandesh to be honoured with such unique Doctorate in Indian dances.

Transport Operators roll back their "Band":
All Maharashtra Transport operators rolled back "Band" called by them. Union leaders announced this after meeting with CM of Maharashtra.

Automatic Temperature and climate measurement unit installed in Ajanta:
Marathwada's first Automatic Temperature and climate measurement unit has been installed in Fardapur Village of Ajanta Caves. ASI will now be able to study different effects of Temperature, Humidity, Wind Velocity and other factors with the help of this unit. It can store all data up to 360days.

21st March:
S.S.C. & H.S.C. Exams comes to an end:

The tension period of all Colleges students ended with SSC & HSC final exams ending on 20th march. This year it has been a tight checking of copy-makers and very small amount of copy-cases are reported compared to previous figures.
Exam papers also were said to be not-to-tough and everyone is expecting for best of results that will be announced in probable May mid or may end.

North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon gets State level "Vanshree Award":
NMU, Jalgaon has been selected for state level "Vanshree Award", which is a honour to organisation showing outstanding contribution to Tree plantation and research in the field.
NMU has planted huge tree base in its campus and has encouraged various projects in terms of research in this regards.

"NaSamajh" film shooting conducted on "Dhupeshwar Bridge":
The bollywood's new production "NaSamajh" shooting was conducted in Muktai Nagar taluka's Dhupeshwar Bridge near Kurha village. The area has god gifted natural beauty with lush green surrounding. The play has Khandesh artists who are playing key role in the film.


20th March:
Jhipru Anna Samadhi renovation begins:
Nashirabad's Jhipru Anna Samadhi will soon have a new look with its trust deciding to re-decorate and furnish Samadhi. This work will finish by 15th May 2002. Jhipru Anna Festival will begin from 04th June 2002.

Prof. Vijay Ubhale honoured with Doctorate:
Amalner's Prof. Vijay H. Ubhale has been honoured with Doctorate for his research work on "Sane Guruji's poems".

19th March:
State level Transport strike to disturb normal life:

The state level transport strike started from 17th Night is going to disturb normal life a lot. All basic transportation as well as goods careers is on strike. Their main demand is cancelling order that implies "Moving out old trucks from use" and giving all India permit to Trucks.

18th March:
Drawing exhibition in Omkareshwar Temple, Jalgaon:

Prajapati Bramhakumari School has organised a Drawing exhibition in Omkareshwar Temple, Jalgaon campus. The exhibition focuses on Lord Shiva's Life. Earlier same drawing exhibition was organised in Nimkhedi's new build Shivdham Temple.

17th March:
Jalgaon City getting polluted water supply:

Entire Jalgaon city is getting highly polluted water supply as drinking water. Due to this, many new diseases are being reported due to this. People are requested to filter and use boiled water in order to avoid such problems caused thereof. Council has already sent in samples of water for checking.

AIRTEL to launch its Mobile services in Jalgaon:

After getting licensing from Government as third operator for Maharashtra, AIRTEL, the Bharti Group Company is all set for launch of its mobile services in Jalgaon city. It has already begun its process of installing towers all around the city and its technical work around.
Before AIRTEL, it is Reliance Group, who entered in Jalgaon for providing Private Telephony, Cable TV and Internet. Reliance also has begun its OFC cable foundation and will soon launch its marketing campaign.
To continue the race, it's BSNL, the telephone department. Department also has announced that they are going to launch their WLL (Wireless Local LOOP) limited Mobility cellular service in Jalgaon.

LPG gas to cost 20Rs. less:
The hike of Rs. 38/- in Finance budget 2002 in LPG has been revised and now people will have to pay just Rs. 18/- more instead of Rs. 38/-.

16th March:
MSEB To launch APDP-2 Scheme for Jalgaon district:

MSEB's ambitious project APDP-2 is being implemented in the Jalgaon to resolve the power problem of entire district. Once this scheme is implemented it will resolve all power problem of entire district. Currently this system is functional in only 4 districts of entire Maharashtra namely SindhuDurg, Ratnagiri, Solapur and Usmanabad. Jalgaon is 5th district to get benefit of this scheme.
Various measures are being taken in order to stop power theft and MSEB will soon install Remote electronic meter in entire district.

Municipal Corporation formation decision after 4weeks:
The final decision of formation of corporation in jalgaon will now be taken after 4weeks. Supreme Court has given this time to appellants and the final hearing will now be after 4weeks.

Jalgaon remains calm on "Ayodhya Issue":
Tomorrow right from morning, all Jalgaon roads were with low traffic and even schools and colleges witnessed low presence of students. Police already had made tight security arrangements for the same. Entire market was open but people themselves were very not coming to markets. Dana Bazaar, city's main grain market witnessed "Undeclared Closed" due to less/ no presence of customers in market.

15th March:
Temperature falls as rainfall hits entire Jalgaon district:

On last evening temperature fall significantly due to sudden rainfall of around 20-25mins in entire Jalgaon district. However there is no report of crop loss due to this rainfall.

Ajanta and Ellora will soon have Optic fibre Lights:
In its one of the ambitious project, ASI has decided to enlighten entire Ajanta & Ellora caves series with whole new latest Optic Fibre light system which will be implemented by Bajaj Lighting Divison, Aurangabad in association with Fibre Star, UK. The project is estimated at around Rs. 2 Crore and it will make Ajanta Pollution free.
Earlier the ASI banned entry of non-CNG/ battery operated Vehicles in Caves area to reduce pollution level. Prof. Shailaja Bhangale honoured with Doctorate: Social Education College, Jalgaon's lecturer Prof. Shailaja Bhangale has been honoured with Doctorate for her study in "Jalgaon District's Student's problems in education system".

Jalgaon's Unmesh Patil selected in INFOLEAD Inc:
Jalgaon's Unmesh S. Patil has been selected and appointed in Infolead Inc., CA, USA.

14th March:
Supreme Court decision tomorrow on formation of Municipal Corporation:

Supreme court will give final decision tomorrow on formation of Municipal Corporation in Jalgaon. Earlier the case was in Aurangabad High court.

13th March:
Drinking water problem intensifies further in Jalgaon:

The Jalgaon city's drinking water problems is getting worst day by day with City council changing its supply frequency and low water level in earth. Even though tankers are supplying water in all the area, the people are facing lots of problems and their anger does not seem to get controlled with. The rising temperature is another worry for people. With just 13th March it has already touched 37level. The situation will improve only after rainfall that is scheduled in May begin/ mid.

Prof. Dilip Chavan honoured with Doctorate:

Amalner Taluka's Kalamsare village's Prof. Dilip Chavan who is working in M. J. College's economics department has been honoured with Doctorate for his Research work on "Maharashtra's Ghisadi Caste's Economical & social status".

12th March:
Exam fever begins in City:

With SSC, HSC and all Graduation and PG exams already started in the city, the generation next is feeling hot and tensed this march. Every year all these exams began in March end and last up to April Mid or End. But this time due to change of policy by board all exams have began right from march 01st and will come to an end by month end.

Various programme being organised on eve of MahaShivratri in city:
Jalgaon's famous Omkareshwar temple has its full pack scheduled today on the eve of Mahashivratri, the festival of Lord Shiva. This year Omkareshwar Temple, Jalgaon celebrates its 31st year and becomes oldest temple in the city area.

State government decides to sale-out 12 Sick Sugar factories:
In a decision made at meeting of state government, it was decided to sale-out all 12 sick sugar factories owned by the government. Belganga sugar factory and Vasant Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana are 2 factories from Jalgaon that are also listed for sale.

Sant Baba Gelaram Birth Festival today:

Sindhi Community's Sant Baba Gelaram's 72nd Birth Festival is being celebrated today at Seva Mandal, Jalgaon.

11th March:
One-way Proposal for Ring Road to city Opposed by People:
Traffic branch, Jalgaon's proposal of converting Ring Road to L.N. School and Court to Ring Road has been opposed by people. To resolve this issue the traffic branch is organising a meeting of people who have opposed to this change and soon issue will be resolved.

08th March:
Nutan Maratha College wins Second prize in All India Level Drama Competition:

Nutan Maratha College, Jalgaon has won Second prize in the IPTA, Bariyapur organised national level Drama Competition. It's team compromising of Anil More, Rajendra Patil, Vivek Bandhu and Prasanna Das performed and participated in the programme.

Vrushal Patil stands Second in State-level signature competition:
Bambrud Bk., Pimpalgaon's Vrushal Baburao Patil stood Second in Pune's "Shikshan-Sfurti Series" organised State-level Signature competition.

07th March:
It's time of Change for Jalgaon:

Earlier in 95s Jalgaon was supposed to be one of the technically backward area. Every technology enters Jalgaon once it is about to end in market. Same case was in term of education as well. Diploma,
Graduate and PG Courses were having syllabus that was out of entire technology world. But now scene is changing. NMU was founded in 1991 and since then it has started showing improvement signals in the technicality of the city. Now most of the syllabus has been revised and is being revised yearly to keep students in touch with the latest of the World. Many Doctorate Research professors are coming year by year to add to beauty of NMU.
On students part they also realise the fact "How Important it is to stay Competitive? ". Every student is trying his level best to get latest technology touch by various means. Internet, E-mail is becoming a common craze and young generation culture is also changing the same way.

BSNL Jalgaon celebrates "Telephone Mela" Week:
Jalgaon telephone department is celebrating "Telephone Mela" from 07th to 15th March. Various Customer favouring schemes are launched and latest technology demo is being organised in Telephone office, Jalgaon. A New Deposit Rs. 800/- and get a new connection scheme is being launched to attract new customers. BSNL will launch its WLL Mobile service soon in August as quoted by GM.
For convenience of payment, BSNL has tied up with various nationalised banks and now users can pay their telephone bills directly into those banks. This programme is open for all and anyone can view the demonstration that is being conducted in the telephone office premise.

06th March:
Bhusaval's Shaikh Shakil stands second in All India Power Lifting:
Bhusaval's Shaikh Shakil stood Second in All India Power Lifting Championship of Handicapped people. This championship was conducted in Nagpur. Shakil lifted 90kg weight and scored 67.5 points. He is student of Peoples College.

05th March:
Vivekanand's Pratishthan's 4 students get HoliFaith Scholarship:

Jalgaon's Vivekanand Pratishthan' has shown an outstanding record of generating Scholar students in this year. It's 4 student have passed Holifaith International's State level Talent Search Exam. Deven Patil - First, Pratik Nehete - Third, Shashank Mahajan - Third and Piyush Chandak - first in his group are 4 scholars who passed this exam.

04th March:
Jalgaon's Sagar Shanbag achieves new records in Swimming:
Jalgaon's Sagar Shanbag has achieved a new record in Swimming of 10-13 groups. He registered a state level new record.

Drinking Water problem intensifying day by day:
Summer has just began, but drinking water issue is heating up entire district day by day. People are getting water supply after 4/5 days that also for low time and low pressure resulting in shortage for them. Even though the council has Setup tankers for wards, the problem is intensifying and people are facing problems in getting the water.
The most affected of water supply is Asoda village where the supply is given after 15 days and so is the condition of Pachora and some other internal places in the district. Summer has just begin but people still have to pass more than 2 months for the next monsoon season to arrive.

Shweta Patil stands 7th in National Talent Search exam:
Shweta Rajendra Patil of Chalisgaon stood 7th National Talent search exam conducted by Mathematics Hobbies Group, Nandurbar. She scored 133 out of 150.

03rd March:
SSC Exam begins in Jalgaon:
56,334 students appear for the SSC exam in the Jalgaon district for the year 2002. Around 111 centres have been Setup for smooth conduction of exam. The very First paper of SSC exam was rescheduled to Maharashtra Band called by VHP.

02nd March:
Purushottam M. Devang honoured with Doctorate:
NMU, jalgaon's Purushottam M. Devang has been conferred upon with Doctorate (Ph.D. in Chemistry) for his research on "Synthesis Characterisation and Applications of Monoterpentined Derivatives as Pesticides" under the guidence of Prof. Dr. P. P. Kumbhar.
With this honour he becomes the first student of NMU in "Pesticides & Agro Chemicals". Also he becomes the first research scholar of Chemistry to be selected for the award of Senior Research fellowship of CSIR, New Delhi.
During his course curriculum he published 5 National and 1 International level research papers and presented his research in various conferences.

"Jalgaon Band" evokes good response:
The VHP called and Shivsena supported "Jalgaon Band" was supported today by all parts of society. All Markets, shops, educational institutions and colleges also remain closed due to this. No violence has been reported in Jalgaon city. There were 2 cases filed in Chopda & Dharangaon of clashes between people.

Ramesh Waghulde gets "AkashWani National Award":
Jalgaon's Ramesh Waghulde has been selected for All India Radio's National Award for year 2001. He has been awarded for his Technical paper on "Verticality of Medium Wave Mast". This award will be conferred to him in a special ceremony in New Delhi.

LPG will cost 37rs. More, Petrol becomes cheaper by Re. 1 and Diesel by Re. 0.50:
As per the guidelines of new budget, the LPG will now cost Rs. 37/- more in Jalgaon i.e. Rs. 263.80 for a Cylinder. Petrol & diesel becomes cheaper by Re. 1 and Re. 0.50 respectively.
Mobile Handsets will be available at lower rates due to cut in duty. Also Kerosene, Sugar & Postage rates will increase as suggested by Budget 2002.

01st March:
Jalgaon "Band" appeal today to protest "Godra Killing":

Jalgaon will remain closed today to protest against "Godra Killing" in Gujrat. This closure has been called by VHP along with BJP & Bajrang Dal and is supported by Shivsena also.

S.S.C. & H.S.C. today's exam papers cancelled amidst "Jalgaon Band":
The today's first paper of S.S.C. & H.S.C. has been cancelled and is rescheduled on 16th & 18th March respectively. This cancellation has been applied in order to avoid unwanted and unknown circumstances resulting in conduction of the exam among "Jalgaon Band".

First class coach to be removed from Surat Bhusaval Passenger:
The Lifeline of Bhusaval to Surat, the Bhusaval Surat passenger will no more have First Class coach with effect from 01st March 2002. This order has been applied due to loss making performance of such coach in the passenger train. However instead of this First class coach, there will be one more Sleeper coach S2 in the train to compensate.
