Traders representation meet Mayor on shopping complexes lease renewal:
Jalgaon district traders confederation representation met city mayor yesterday submitting a written request to cancel Corporation resolution of premium on lease renewal. In its detailed request letter, traders’ representation has quoted their inability to pay corporation on ready reckoner rates for shopping complexes blocks in lease with them. Most of traders in these markets are holding these blocks since generations doing their traditional businesses. Paying Lakhs of amount to Corporation and that too getting no more maintenance is against their limits and as a result, most will have to move banks to take loans for paying this sum.
So this renewal in other words posing Corporation’s debt to traders shoulder. Association has demanded renewal of 50years term and urged corporation not to lead its burden to traders and co-operate traders. Corporation general body is meeting on 07th March and would review this decision.
Third annual Khandesh festival from 01st March:
Jalgaon district rural development organisation and district administration jointly conducted third Khandesh cultural festival is beginning from 01st March at Sagar Park ground. Event is named Muktai-Saras 2012 and has various events for five days promoting women self-help and savings group. It would have wide spread focus on Khandesh eatables and has cultural programmes from 6pm until 9.30pm every day. It includes cultural dances, Lavani, Powada, one plays.
Bhusawal council annual budget presented:
Bhusawal municipal council presented its annual budget 2012-13 yesterday with hefty development provisions in the budget. The annual budget has 416.45 Crores estimation of various inflow and expenses. This includes 144 Crores cost based flyover from Mahatma Gandhi statue to Jamner road based Girls high school, Taluka sports complex provision of 1Crore, fire fighter repairs at 64.50Lakhs, new electricity equipment at 40 Lakhs, water supplies and purification processes at 2Crores cost, 30Lakhs for water supply lines leakages, 30Lakhs for water lifting from Tapi River, 40Lakhs for cleanliness works.
Other provisions include 22Lakhs for medicine in council hospitals, 12Lakhs for enhancements in amusement parks, 25 Lakhs for council building repairs, 2.35 Crores for old roads repairs and 50 Lakhs for D. S. High School repair works.

Parola municipal council ward 3D seat getting vacated by death of elected candidature is undergoing voting on 30th March. Nomination filling begins on 01st March and ends on 06th March followed by scrutiny on 07th march and 14th March as last date of withdrawal. Pulse polio vaccination drive today:
District health authority is conducting pulse polio vaccination drive in Jalgaon district today under national rural health mission. It has setup 2,281 booths for vaccination and urged parents to bring in their kids from 0-5 years age at nearest booth. All major public density areas like railway station, bus stand, private bus stand, marriage halls, private hospitals, government hospitals have vaccination setup. This would follow rural home visits from 20th until 22nd February.

Jalgaon ZP equations for alliance are still in process with BJP and Shivsena still exploring uniting each other. Both parties have fought election on their own and BJP turned single largest party with 23 seats followed by NCP with 20 seats and Shivsena getting 15 seats. Traders and Corporation tussle on shopping complexes lease renewal:
Jalgaon city’s various shopping complexes based blocks owners and Corporation administration met yesterday to discuss concerns raised. Traders marked strong protest to premium charging by Corporation and demanded same earlier alike 20 years lease renewal premium. Traders also urged Corporation to put up its maintenance plan for building life of 99 years as per lease as most of markets are currently in bad state of maintenance. Corporation has not spared single rupee in structural maintenance and like aspects on any of shopping complex in last 10 years. Administration remained on its stand not to put any reduction in premium charging for lease renewal and vacate blocks by 31st March if unpaid. It has also posted clear view that new lease agreement has block owner as sole responsible entity for repair works if required.
Jalgaon ZP election results – posts clear majority to BJP and Shivsena likely alliance:
Jalgaon district council votes counting process completed yesterday afternoon. BJP has turned as largest party winning 23 seats followed by NCP gaining 20, Shivsena with 15 and Congress-I winning 10 seats. This way the BJP and Shivsena ruling alliance gains clear majority to form its third consecutive term in Jalgaon ZP. BJP and NCP have led in Panchayat elections as well.
This election has now availed 37 seats to women candidates and has reflected new women empowerment in district’s politics. Both BJP and Shivsena participated in election on their own without alliance and post results equations forming might take some time.

Traders protest march shakes Corporation:
Traders from Jalgaon city’s various corporation owned shopping complexes under lease renewal made a mega protest march yesterday demanding immediate attention of Corporation to cancel this resolution charging premium from block owners and also having clause of vacating the block if not paid. Traders took mute march to Collectorate and made request in reference to District Collectorate to intervene in panic causing situation.
It included shop owners from Central Fule Market, Bhoite Market, Mahatma Fule Market, Old B. J. Market, Dr. Ambedkar Market, Choubey market, Thakre Market and Mahatma Gandhi market. Protest began from Tower Chowk and continued through Nehru Chowk, Shivaji Chowk, Swatantrya Chowk and ended at Collectorate. Corporation proposed lease renewal premium pattern has real estate market rates applied to its leasing and every owner will have to pay at least 30Lakhs+ sum to renew this and will have to vacate block if not paid. Traders have also termed this strategy of Corporation as putting its HUDCO loan repayment burden on their shoulders.
NMU to receive 75 Lakhs for indoor games hall:
North Maharashtra University has received Rs. 75 Lakhs special grant from State government for construction of new indoor games hall in NMU campus. The project estimated cost is 3.18 Crores and NMU has earlier received 2 Crores fund for the same. This allocation is under year 2011-12 funds.

Corporation shopping complexes lease renewal:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation has announced renewal of lease agreement of various shopping complexes in city at premium rates. Old Bhikamchand Jain market traders have united and announced moving to the court on Corporation proposed Rs. 60,000 per square meter premium rate for lease of 99 years. There are 185 traders having received notice from Corporation and these have announced not moving ahead with lease renewal. Proposed renewal also has Rs. 300 per month rental for blocks owned if renewed for 99 years and has Rs. 250 per month rental if renewal is for 30years span.
Central Fule market traders are making protest march on the same reference of Corporation putting ‘vacate blocks’ note in the renewal notice. The protest march is on Wednesday, 15th February at 10AM and it would end up at Collectorate demanding intervention and attention to the critical issue.

Shivsena Jalgaon strike evokes response – print media approach glee democracy:
Shivsena Jalgaon unit called a day strike to protest Police execution of arresting women in midnight evoked response in Jalgaon yesterday. Most of trades, retails remained closed throughout the day amidst tight police security. The day marked huge rush of Shivsena followers on road marking protest to Police stand in the reference and appealing traders/ citizens to remain closed on the aspect. Protest march ended in front of district police headquarters urging them. District Police marked its straight-line approach, has already suspended in-charge police inspector executing this arrest, and has initiated IG inquiry in the reference.
The day equally noted a historic approach change adopted by local print media. Few leading local print media followed revolutionary change in approach to this strike. Editorials and frontline appeals in media urged Shivsena followers to call off the strike on grounds of district police already initiated immediate action to the unlawful approach. It broadly grounded them to follow democratic approach even if strike is taken further and not to make any violent turnout as it was noticed during last protest strike during demands for assured rates for cotton farmers. Jalgaon city municipal corporation present its annual budget:
Jalgaon city municipal corporation administration yesterday presented its estimated annual budget 2012-13 with Rs. 611.45 Crores on revenue side and 608.23 Crores on expenditure side. The revenue side estimates various government grants as major source of earning availing 415.29 Crores, LBT tax availing 80 Crores, property tax – 33.57 Crores, escorts fee – 14Crores, open plot tax – 22.53 Crores, water tax – 23.58 Crores and market fees – 22.48 Crores.
Expenditure side has 50.88 Crores for employees’ salary, 12.50 Crores for pension fund, 33.65 Crores for new roads, gutters and road repairs, capital investment of 38.71 Crores and other expenses amounting to 472.49 Crores. It has proposed funds for water supply management, waste management, overhead bridges, underground roads and drainages.
Proposed new tax includes levying special cleanliness tax ranging from Rs. 30 to Rs. 250 depending on type of establishment.

Shivsena calls for a day strike today:
Shivsena Jalgaon unit has called a day strike today in Jalgaon district marking its protest to district police conduct arresting two women Corporators in midnight in a minor case of going against district magistrate order of grouped protests. The arrest included two women Corporator and Shivsena city unit head by City Police station. Court has bailed all 3 in case. District Police in immediate response has suspended Police Inspector in-charge of the police station.

Corporation gets July-2012 deadline for HUDCO repayment:
Jalgaon city municipal Corporation has received ultimatum from Housing development authority HUDCO for repaying its loan of 90 Crores by July-2012 and has urged immediate first payment of Rs. 35 Crores on or before 31st March. Corporation officials, State officials and HUDCO officers made a joint meeting in this reference recently. Corporation paid sum from year 2004 until year 2011 has mostly went into penal interest. HUDCO would reschedule this loan balance post 31st March and first instalment payment. Liquidity crunch facing Corporation expects Central Fule Market lease renewal premium as its only source to repay this due.

Khandesh chills with frosting cold:
Sudden arrival of heavy wind flow followed by cold stroke since Tuesday night has chilled whole Khandesh region. Mercury has dipped down to 6 degree centigrade at Nandurbar wherein both Jalgaon and Dhule had 10.2 degrees recorded. Climate has cold waves flow throughout day since yesterday. Corporation budgetary meeting tomorrow:
Jalgaon city municipal corporation standing committee is meeting tomorrow evening to discuss Annual Budget 2012-13. Meeting will also discuss extension of Vikas milk selling booths and taking off penalty provision of 18% tax for LBT non-filing.
In another development, Corporation has submitted its plan to Mumbai High Court Aurangabad bench on completing highways parallel roads in 3 phases with estimated cost of 45 Crores. Proposed phases include 11 Crores in first step, 13 Crores in second and rest in third taking assistance of district parent minister MLA fund, DPDC funds and State roads development grants.
ZP elections – eyes on votes counting on 17th February:
Entire district’s political nerves have frozen awaiting for ZP and Panchayat result of Jalgaon district scheduled on 17th February. Administration has reviewed the voting percentage and reported 63.69% exact voting in district. MuktaiNagar remained on top with 69.15% wherein Bhusawal was on bottom with 55.48%. Votes counting would be at respective Tahsil places.

Jalgaon Airport completes second round of testing:
AAI official conducted second round of testing yesterday on Jalgaon airport. It has successfully completed landing, take-off, signalling and communication tests on second day. This test included flight landing from Delhi at 11am and around 2-3hrs aerial rounds of airport area and then taking plane to apron area.
Authorities are in final stage of building works and expect its completion by this month end. AAI test report would now go to AAI headquarter and later to DGCA and later to various airlines companies to initiate their own testing to commence passenger services.
District administration initiates plan for air-conditioned hall:
Jalgaon district planning and development committee has announced its decision to construct, develop and maintain a fully air-conditioned drama hall in coming 2 years. The project drawings, estimates are ready and sent to administration for approval. The 1,200 seats 13 Crores estimated 66,000 square meters area based hall is in Mehrun Shivar on block# 102 behind district civil surgeon bungalow. DPDC has allocated 4 Crores fund to start with project and has announced committee to monitor and maintain the project. It has initiated fencing work of the area.
Hall ground floor is of 1,742 sq. meters, first floor has 1,759 sq. meters and second floor has 785.80 sq. meters carpet area. Proposed features include centralised air conditioning system, library hall, two trial rooms, and two suites for artists, balcony, internal roads in campus, fire fighting, power generator and waiting room. Jalgaon city currently has Corporation owned Bal-Gandharva open theatre and JDCC Bank’s 900 seats air-cooled hall for such functions.
ZP and Panchayat elections – 65% voting recorded:
Jalgaon district council (ZP) 68 blocks and 136 Panchayat blocks underwent voting yesterday. There has been very low response since afternoon and mere 46% voting was recorded. The last hour witnessed magical turnout taking the average polling count to 65%. Whole process went smooth with no incidence or violation reported. Bhusawal remained in bottom of chart with 55.48% voting recorded wherein Jamner was on top with 70% voting records.

Airport authority completes Jalgaon airport airstrip testing:
Jalgaon region is all set to usher its dreams with wings of air. Airport authority of India Jalgaon unit yesterday completed successful test of Jalgaon airport airstrip for flights landing and take-off. The 16-seater VT-EPU AAI plane landed off on Jalgaon airport at 5.45pm yesterday and the pilots along with concerned authorities have marked it first class for initiating passenger services. The testing process continued for multiple landing and take-off processes and has completed first round of checks. Second testing is scheduled today.
Jalgaon airport initiative began 2years ago with AAI taking over Jalgaon Airport work from State airport development Authority and setting ambitious goal of completing it 2years span. The first phase of this project has now been completed and it awaits formal inauguration by Her Excellency President of India Pratibhatai Patil. Her likely visit to Jalgaon is on 24th February along with recently announced Nandurbar visit.
ZP and Panchayat election voting today:
Jalgaon district council (ZP) 68 blocks and its 136 Panchayat are undergoing voting process today from 8am until 5pm. There are 305 candidates in ZP and 584 in Panchayat nominations. Votes’ counting is scheduled on 17th February along with 10 other Corporations result in Maharashtra. District administration has made adequate security and staffing arrangements for smooth conduct of the whole process and has 10% extra EVM machines per Tahsil for emergency needs. District Police has 20,414 officials monitoring round the clock security in district. This election result would mark sort of preview of legislative elections ahead.
Jalgaon makes thrilling victory on Nashik:
Maharashtra Cricket association (MCA) conducted invited cricket competition yesterday witnessed Jalgaon boys making thrilling victory on Nashik by a run. Jalgaon has no qualified for semis. Jalgaon batted first and scored 238 in 49.5 with Shashank scoring 90, Vijay and Shrirang with 25, Chandan scoring 22 along with Varun making 18 valuables. Jalgaon district administration has completed arrangements for smooth conduct of ZP and Panchayat elections voting process scheduled tomorrow. Campaigning ended yesterday evening for all 68 blocks of ZP having 306 candidates and 136 units of Panchayat having 574 candidates. Administration has made special security arrangements for violent, sensitive polling booths and is in process to deploy its staffing and security at all booths today. As per State EC directive, voter not having any identity proof (as per its prescribed document) can now base rationing card as identity proof.
Maharashtra wins National under-14 softball competition:
Maharashtra girls have won under-14 57th national inter-school softball competition played in Jalgaon defeating Madhya Pradesh team in finals by 19-8 homerun. Chattisgarh secured third rank winning on Rajasthan by 12-1. Boys’ category final match would be played today.
Chopda based Sunil Patil wins in State science exhibition:
Chunchale (Chopda) based Nutan secondary school laboratory assistant Sunil Patil has won first prize in 37th annual State level science exhibition held at Baramati in Pune district. His experiment to find density of liquid objects won first prize in laboratory assistant category of the event. Prize money includes Rs. 5,000 cash and certificate. Jalgaon airport airstrip testing on Tuesday:
Airport authority of India technical team is arriving in Jalgaon today for conducting actual flight take-off and landing testing on Tuesday, 07th February. Presidential tour expected schedule is from 15th to 20th March and this will have inauguration of Jalgaon airport phase-1 and laying foundation stone for phase-2 work. The 8-seater testing plane would come from Aurangabad and will test airstrip, take-off, landing, night landing, laser landing and automated mobile control tower communications.

Yaval to Melghat forestry corridor project in process:
State forestry department in association with Indian space research organisation (ISRO) has initiated satellite survey of Jalgaon district’s forestry. District forestry areas include Yaval to Pal. Yaval region, Satpuda hills region, MuktaiNagar, Vadhoda forestry area having majestic tiger presence is being reviewed for conservation. Deparmtent has sent proposal to State government for setting up corridor from Yaval to Melghat forestry. State would review this satellite survey and initiate next step of actions.
Khandesh Sugarcane processing report:
Khandesh region in this season has done remarkably well in sugarcane processing amidst only few sugar factories functional. These five factories have processed 709,840 metric tonnes of sugarcane and produced 7Lakh sugar bags until now. Shahada based sugar factory is on top of chart with 199,210 metric tonnes processed followed by Madhukar co-operative sugar factory with 197,335 metric tonnes, Pushpadanteshwar has processed 122,555 metric tonnes, Chopda factory has processed 104,645 metric tonnes and Navapur factory has 86,000 metric tonnes processing by now.

Administration deputes around 18,000 staffing for ZP elections:
Jalgaon district administration has geared up its full stage preparation for upcoming ZP election scheduled on 07th February followed by votes counting on next day. It has staffing of 18,282 resources for 3,046 polling booths having 20.23Lakh voters. There are 13 sensitive polling booths and 110 are marked as violent. It has setup 6,800 electronic voting machines for smooth operations. It has also ordered closure of wine shops from 06th February until 08th February for controlled processing of election.

District administration submits 198 Crores cotton aid proposal to State:
Jalgaon district administration has sent a proposal to State government demanding 198.79 Crores for availing special aids to cotton producing farmers on various grounds in 500,639 hectares disturbed land. This includes earlier flooding situation and later big gap in raining related losses.
State has announced Rs. 4,000 per hectare aid for farmers with capping of 2hectares. District administration in its survey has submitted list of 29,654 farmers from Jalgaon getting this special benefit. This aid will come directly in respective Farmer bank account and is likely to be distributed before March-2012 end.

Citizens demand for immediate Corporation action for developing highways parallel roads:
National Highway authority of India has given go ahead to Jalgaon city municipal corporation for developing highway parallel service roads for facilitating city commuters and reducing accident risk. The recent hearing of PIL in Mumbai High Court Aurangabad bench in this reference has asked Corporation to put its policy on formation of roads by its resources or through PWD.
City’s major educational area and commuter traffic crosses through national highways#6 and thereby witnesses rising incidences of accidents and on the spot deaths. The highways traffic has equally increased wherein road resources remains as it is. Next hearing of this case is on 08th February.
Railways announce closure of Mahsawad railway crossing for 25 days:
Central Railways Bhusawal division has announced closure of railways crossing gate#140 from 01st until 25th February for repair works lying on Mumbai route from Maheji and Mahsawad road. North Maharashtra university Jalgaon management council yesterday approved formation of department of human rights under its faculty of Law. It has sent this recommendation to its education council for further steps.

Maharashtra wins national softball competition:
Maharashtra boys and girls have won under-17 57th national softball competition being played at Chhatrapati Shivaji district sports complex. Rajasthan boys and Madhya Pradesh girls won runner up awards in the event. The 5 days under-17 competition had participation of various state teams and Maharashtra boys defeated Rajasthan by 3-2 homerun and girls won on Madhya Pradesh by 4-2 homerun.
