Dreams turning true in today’s scenario is pretty harder to digest on diplomatic levels and one could see a live example while being in Jalgaon. Jalgaon city and rest of district had pretty smoother electricity supplies in last month and has all of sudden started to witness large amount of undeclared load shedding, power outages and voltage aspects.
The State owned Electricity Distribution Company in spite of raising its bills with higher distribution losses to whole region has again turned in red zone of diplomacy with its head quarter posting around for decreasing revenue collections and rising deficits. The resultant aspect that should have been efficient introduction of billing collection measures and tight vigil on thefts has turned around with the either way by increasing load shedding.
History is witness that load shedding has never helped in achieving such goals and rather has increased overall deficit and eaten every individual’s money and performance. There are no stronger and continued measures that could take the Company out of this red line of losses in spite of the fact that its bills have turned almost three times of earlier bills in a year’s span.

Electricity billing system – need of emergency review:

Electricity distribution and billing systems have turned to the most critical attention needing elements in common life today. On one hand where the electricity monthly bills have almost tripled in last year span, the additional charges including distribution loses have mounted above 30% of the electricity charge component. The complexity and patterns of billing are beyond common citizen’s understanding and in spite of all this, department rather strengthening its base is forcing the cost to the regular paying users. If the intensity of this issue is evaluated in depth, Governments need emergency measures to control and regularise this perspective with liberal approach to end monopoly of its subsidiaries and let citizens get the best of services.
Bills outstanding dues list most interestingly includes Government offices including village governance like Panchayat, councils and water supplying units of such governing organisations. Individual and industrial dues are broadly levying in regular bills as other charges.

The Company has chalked out detailed action plan to lower the losses and enhance the bills collection aspect.
