29th December:

Goodbye 2010, Welcome 2011:

Dazzling 2010 is ending soon with wonderful fading memories and here comes the sparkling 2011 with lots of new surprises and expectations. The whole year has been full of several political, business, sports and industrial developments and drawbacks. Region faced the hottest summer ever with mercury rising up to 49 degrees and most chilled winter with minimum 4.7 degrees during the year. This was one of most significant climatic change noted amidst intense summer heat, which Jalgaon witnesses every year.

Trade and businesses front continue to witness tussle on development with no co-operation or trade friendly approach by State and local governances. The much protested Octroi tax has now been replaced by Local Body Tax (LBT). This tax introduction has added to cost of wholesale traders selling goods within city versus neighbouring Tahsil places forcing them to open up alternate storage/ warehousing units in out of city limits to remain competitive. The tax even though promises to be easier, has added to paper works for traders.  Retail business has witness growth and change phase with many national level players opening up their retail outlets in Jalgaon city. This arrival has significantly boosted retail business and has equally made every consumer choosy and variety driven. Small and medium retailers' fear of being washed out in the revolution has been swiped with the glowing fact that business at every such outlet has rather doubled.

Region's industries are still struggling to get their parental care especially in terms of infrastructural development. The much desired separation of industrial township from city has again been politically thrown out fading industries 'to be competitive' dreams. The earlier fame pulses, mats and likely industries are in harder state of their uplift. Amidst this state and being the desire of the time, Jewellery retail outlets and its whole process business has witnessed manifold growth. Our established Jewellery field brands have spread their wings across whole nation making us proud. Never seen television advertisements from our jewellers can also be marked another significant business booster.

Real estate, banking and education have been the most promising and most grown folds for the region. District has witnessed significant rise in nationalised, private and co-operative banks presence in whole district and the ATM machines count is almost nearing to 3 digit counts. Sooner one can mark generalised statement that Jalgaon has nation's all banks and that too with wide range of services and variety to get region on its best desired growth.  Real estate has been the most rewarding section which has almost tripled in mere year's span. The positivity and self-driven growth has basic natural attire of rising housing demands. Both plots and ready property rates are in the rising trend with city's limits and outskirts expanding sharply on Mehrun, Shirsoli, Khedi and Paldhi fronts. Field experts and investors mark this to be mere half of desired growth following basic lack of infrastructural facilities from local governments.

Khandesh region's educational hub North Maharashtra University moved towards ISO implementation. University is now two decades old and has 312 affiliated colleges including 56 NAAC accredited. University also marked a significant leap in academics and has introduced many specialisation based PG and technical courses.  Many large scale and nationwide groups have begun their homework for setting up educational centres for under-graduate and post graduate courses especially Engineering, Technical education during the year. Year ahead could witness the phase-2 of revolution with city leaving behind Nashik and Aurangabad in the reference and having greater number count of such institutions.

Jalgaon's athletes and various sportsmen and women players continue to mark shining winning performances. Jalgaon also organised many national/ international level events at its proud district sports complex. The complex has now turned to a centre point of sports and cultural activities with large numbers of events being conducted on various fronts.

Region is all set to get the nationwide growth benefits with key factors of being most easily accessible in terms of commuting and connectivity after metro places overflowing. Jalgaon's wings, its Airport is the most desired go live need and demand of region. This would not only boost its tourist inflows but a large number of industries could also see Jalgaon as next investment destination. Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation's much desired ambitious city development plan based 1,300+ Crores based infrastructure rejuvenating is likely to fulfil in the year ahead. If our political arm can think of this opportunity above all of self-interests, city would witness new Avatar and dressing up for the most prosperous time ahead
