HSC result on 04th June:

Maharashtra State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board is announcing HSC Results 2009 on 04th June from 11AM onwards on board website. There would be no merit list beginning from this year.

Co-operative depositors to mark Stop-Railways protest March on Monday:
Jalgaon district's large number of co-operative depositors have united and announced stringent action measures to attract State attention in healing woes of co-operative societies having taken Crores of their deposits. Depositors' protection and action committee is conducting Stop-Railways Protest March on 10AM at Jalgaon railway station.
Jalgaon district's 947 co-operative societies are in ill state of financials trapping 1,237 Crores of fixed deposits of common people in region. Most of depositors include pensioners, service member and small savings group persons.

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation general body meeting review:

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation general body met yesterday to discuss various 23 topics on its agenda. It has appointed exclusive agency for collection of service charges from housing projects and has announced transfer of ownership if beneficiary pays this charge of Rs. 5 per day regularly on yearly basis. Corporation has 7 Crores outstanding with around 4,500 housing scheme beneficiaries.
Body also approved voluntary retirement proposal and various development projects while includes concreting of road in unt#12 at 16.8 Lakhs and has also approved special Court for Corporation matters speedy up. It approved setting up of library in Rath Chowk also.

Dr. Chaudhari shortest time car tour recorded in Limca book of Records:
Jalgaon Homeopathy Doctor Sunil Chaudhari has posted a new Limca record by car travel in shortest distance from Kanyakumari to Leh border in mere 149 hours 20 minutes. His record was noted at 25 different points during travel began on 22nd May. His journey from southern India to northern India ended at Leh on China borderon 28th May evening. He has become first Indian to achieve this fastest travel on road.

Jalgaon leads in second super league match:
Jalgaon boys are leading by 60 runs versus Secretary-11 Team at Sawant Wadi. Jalgaon bowled out team on mere 68 runs with Chandan Wani and and Chandan Ranawe doing splendid bowling and taking 5 wickets each. In response it has scored 128 runs with GIrish scoring 31 and Shashank scoring 26 with Dilipi chipping 23 runs. Secretary-11 team has scored 88/3 at day-1 end.

Indian BT cottonseeds availed in Jalgaon:

Indian council for agricultural research New Delhi unit Central Cotton Indian Council for agricultural Research Nagpur engineered and developed Bikaneri Narma BT (BNBT) is now available in Jalgaon. This cotton BT seed is at cost of Rs. 100 per packet and State would get 13,000 packets as first batch of plain BT seed.
Genetic engineering approval committee approved this BNBT seed distribution on 02nd May 2008 with batch size of 20,000 packets. Khandesh is getting 1,500 packets of this type in this season through Mahabeej.

IPHS rated health services in Jalgaon:
National rural health mission has disbursed Rs. 2 Crores 9 Lakhs 1,878 Rupees in year 2008-09 to 19 primary health centres, 27 sub-centres and 10 rural hospitals. This fund has availed required instruments and facilities along with enough medicines stock. All facilities are based on Indian Public Health Standard parameters and have target of setting private hospital alike services and facilities by year 2012.
This expenditure includes construction works at hospitals, mother childcare, Self-services 'Asha' scheme, patient welfare committee, children development centre for removal of less-nutrition in children and school health check up and operations.

28th May:
District demands from newly elected MPs:
Jalgaon district has rays of hopes from newly elected both members of parliaments. This includes bouquet of demands from Jalgaon city itself along with nearby Taluka. Jalgaon city demands include special facilities for new industries, speedy processing of Jalgaon Airport works and availing national and international flight connections, setting up of international sports and related activities stadium, railway over bridge at Pimprala railway crossing, development of Padmalaya as tourism destination and setting up Khandesh development Corporation for boosting overall growth of Khandesh region. There is constant demand of availing stoppage to many super fast trains and starting up of Bhusawal - Mumbai super fast train.

Jalgaon defeats Beed in cricket:
Jalgaon boys have defeated Beed by 8 wickets in ongoing super league cricket competition at Sawantwadi. Jalgaon bowled out Beed in mere 97 runs and scored 161 runs in first inning. Jalgaon fast pace bowlers attacked second inning and bundled it in 124 runs. This included Shashank taking 4 wickets and Chandan taking 3 wickets along with Rahul taking stumps of 2. Jalgaon achieved its target of 61 runs on loss of two wickets. This included Dilip scoring 25 runs along with Shashank and Devvrata scoring 12 runs each.

27th May:
Khandesh festivity in January:

Jalgaon district administration is planning to introduce annual Khandesh festivity event beginning from this January. It aims to increase tourism inflow, availing employment opportunities through tourism, creating platform for local artists' promotion and entertainment and uniform passage and would be four days event. District Planning Officer would be in charge of this event.
Administration would establish Khandesh trust for this activity and would be from second week of January onwards. It aims to invite State and national artists in the event and would have Taluka based competitions for selection of top-3 artists to perform on district level.

NMU announces distance education courses:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon has announced starting up of distance education courses with effect from 01st June 2009. This includes under-graduation in Arts, second and third year commerce, M.A. in Marathi, English, Hindi Urdu, Sanskrit, Ardhamaghadhi, Pali, History, Social Science, economics, defence and philosophy along with M. Com, M.Sc. (Maths) and L.L.M.
Admission process begins from 01st June until 31st July and is being co-ordinated by distance education department. Please contact department for detailed information thereof.

Administration enforces section 37(1) in district on 31st May:
District administration has enforced Bombay Police Act, 1951 section 37(1) in district on 31st May from 9AM until 3PM for smooth conduct of Maharashtra Public Services Commission exam from 9AM until 3PM.

Mahrishi Ashram wins National trophy:
Jalgaon Mahrishi Ashram team has won Under-14 National Trophy cricket competition conducted at Mumbai. Team player Akshay Kolhe won best batsman, Yashwant Chauhan won best bowler and Pratik Ise won best fielder award in competition. It has won cash prize of Rs. 11,000 by winning this tournament. Event had participation of 5 teams from Mumbai, Pune and Kolkata team.
Mahrishi Ashram team scored 270 runs in designated 30 over with Novel scoring 52, Akshay scoring 79, Rahul chipping 63 and Kisan scoring 43 runs. In response, it bowled out Mumbai players on 239 runs with Yashwant and Rohit each taking 4 wickets and Akshay Kolhe with two wickets.

26th May:
Corporation plans to set up special Court and police station:

Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation administration has prepared proposal to set up special court for speedy processing of encroachments in construction and police station for handling the situation. General body is meeting on 29th May. Amongst other topics, include bill payments to contractors, refund of security deposits, appointment of medical officer, grants to amateur Karate association and many other miscellaneous projects.

Cyclonic winds and raining mark pre-monsoon scenario:
Jalgaon district yesterday witnessed Rohini Nakshatra first raining along with cyclonic winds during evening times. Wind pressure led to disruption in electricity supplies. Raining led to flooding in a few of Nala on Satpuda hills range basin area. It would benefit standing cotton crop. Chopda, Bhusawal, Yaval, Raver, Bhadgaon and Pachora also had good raining yesterday.

ZP appoints nodal officer for School admissions:
Jalgaon district council has appointed district-level nodal officers under Maharashtra Educational Institutions (Donations prohibition) Act 1987 as per State Education Ministry order. District Primary Education Officer - Mobile# 9423951652 and Secondary Education Officer - Mobile# 9423487552 are assigned nodal officers for this purpose. New regulation now bans schools and its managements from taking donations in any form.
It has urged parents to file Police complaint within 30 days with proofs to nearest police station in case of demands from management and school administration. Act has provision of 1-2 years imprisonment with Rs. 500 penalty for offenders.

Tapi Irrigation development Corporation proposes Rs. 516 Crores projects in Khandesh:
Tapi Irrigation Development Corporation has proposed need of 516.66 Crores fund for extension of various 64 existing projects in Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar and Nashik districts. It has also proposed 593.5 Crores plans for 2010-11. It further proposes to extend existing 64 project capacities through this fund.

25th May:
Kharip season cultivation in final preparations in full pace:

Region's farmers are in full-fledged preparations for starting Kharip cultivation in this season. District agricultural department has estimated 873,000 hectares cultivation target in this season with cotton on top followed by grains and other agricultural produces.
District farmers had good times with Rubby season in wheat, gram and Bajra crop produces. Most of seeds and fertilisers shops are full with farmers demanding and querying for various seeds and fertilisers.

Twelve Council Presidents election soon:
Jalgaon district's 12 Municipal Councils would soon elect their new presidents following rotational reservation system. Administration has already announced reservations for all these posts. District's 12 councils excluding Jamner have term ending on 25th June.

Hatnur dam reaches 7% storage mark:
Region's most of water reservoir dam are reaching dry mark following continued vaporisation in current climatic conditions. Hatnur dam is currently at 7.10% storage mark and continues to witness evaporation following humid conditions. Dam has 41 gates and fulfils 125 villages and places water needs.

24th May:
Vipin Borole completes Mount Everest expedition:

Chopda's 16 year student Vipin Borole has completed Mount Everest expedition by reaching 17,500 height base camp in mere 3 days. He has claimed for being world's youngest achiever along with fastest expedition in 3 days records. He reached first base camp on 14th May and has now plans to use parachute jumps for further expedition here. He would go by plane to Mount Everest peak and take parachute jump in this climate and if weather does not support, would attempt it in next summer. Jalgaonities conducted a rally in his honour yesterday.

District planning and development committee meeting on 29th May:
Jalgaon DPDC is meeting on 29th May to initiate various tourist places developmental projects. This would be committee first meeting in last 3 months following election code of conduct enforced and later unavailability of district parent minister. District has 106 Crores development plan and Tapi Irrigation development Corporation has received 385 Crores and later 67 Crores under Khandesh Development Package.

District's 685 players to get bonus marks in SSC and HSC exams:
Jalgaon district's various 685 players in SSC and HSC would receive 25 marks additional bonus as per State sports promotion policy. Players having participated in State, National games are eligible for benefit in 26 various games. District sports authority has sent final list of these candidates to divisional office at Pune.

District cricket team announced for Super league cricket competition:
Jalgaon district's possible-15 player cricket team has been announced for MCA state level super league competition. Jalgaon's first match is on 26th and 27th versus Beed and second match is on 29th and 30th versus MCA Secretary-11 team at Malvan and third is with Cricket Next Academy Pune on 01st and 02nd June. Jalgaon qualified for this competition by winning all 5 matches played in April.

23rd May:
Summer water woes - 6 dam turns zero:

Jalgaon district's 6 water supplies reservoirs have turned zero following vaporisation in water amidst intense summer heat. This includes Manyad, Bori, Agnavati, Tondapur, Hivara and Bahula dam. Waghur dam now has only 12.65% while Suki has 35.50%, Ambhora has 41%, Mangrul has 80% and Mor has 43% storage.

Jalgaon's Trupti Tayade selected in Indian Taekwondo team:
Jalgaon taekwondo player Trupti Tayade has been selected in Indian team for Junior Asian Taekwondo competition at Tehran in Iran. Probable team has 3 players from Maharashtra. It would undergo training camp at Bangalore and would select top-10 players for training stage-2 at Korea.

Anjali Patil and Manjusha Bhide selected for National referee training:
Jalgaon district Volleyball ad hock Committee convenor and national referee Anjali Patil and State referee Manjusha Bhide have been selected as referee for National referee training programme. Referees trained here would referee International Volleyball Competition from 31st July until 09th August at Pune.

22nd May:
Fertilisers planning control established:

Jalgaon district administration has set up control room for co-ordination of district fertilisers and seed demands for this season. This action is based on recent rage of farmers on buying specific cottonseeds in region. It has now started taluka wise distribution of these seeds. Administration has reserved 8,000 tonnes of fertilisers at four different Godowns in district. There has been continuous up rise in fertilisers demand from farmers.
District seeds, fertilisers and pesticides dealers association has announced its strong rage to district administration policy on seeds and fertilisers distribution. Association has announced two days strike to protest on action measures.

Administration announces action plan for Monsoon:
Jalgaon district administration and City Municipal Corporation has announced its committee and plan for pre-monsoon measures. This includes cleaning up of all major Nala, serving notices to old buildings in city, setting up 24 hours disaster control helpline in administration building. It also plans to set up group of swimmers to facilitate in flooding cases. Administration is conducting General body meeting on 29th May to discuss on various topics on agenda. It also plans to demand special grant from State government for this purpose.
There would be 25 life jackets and search and protection panel, 35-trained group, one boat for sub-division, special action plan for 137 villages and rehabilitation of 7 villages. There would be central disaster control centre in Collectorate.

20th May:
Deposits of 28 election candidates forfeited:

As per the election rules, a candidate must secure atleast 1,09,427 votes to keep his/her deposits preserved. Due to fall of votes, deposits of 11 candidates from Jalgaon and 17 from Raver have been forfeited.

92 lakhs rupees granted to help water scarcity:
Many of the villages in district are facing water scarcity due to high temperatures and low rainfall. Government has granted 92 lakh rupees to cope up with the problem. It has been decided to come up with permanent solutions to solve the problem such as digging wells, increase the depth of existing wells etc instead of temporary solutions like supplying water with tankers.

School students of Nashik board to receive books on first day of school:
This year the school students won't face the problem of non-availability of books. The Nashik Board has speeded its job of supplying the books according ti the demand specified. Many of the text books have been changed. Geography books would be colorful and in A4 size.

Seeds and fertilizer merchants close the shutters. Turnover of 5 crore rupees affected:
The merchants have decided to protest against gun firing scam on sale of Rashi-2 at Parola. They have strictly put down the shutters for 2 days. There are 1700 fertilizer shops in the district. This close has hampered the turnover of about 5 crore rupees on the first day itself. Farrmers are also affected badly since this is the season of sowing.

BJP dominates Parliamentary elections 2009 results in Khandesh:
BJP has outshined its rival Indian National Congress and NCP in parliamentary elections 2009 by taking away both Jalgaon and Raver seats. This has given new dimension to BJP and Shivsena alliance for upcoming Assembly elections. Both NCP and Congress-I have initiated revamp measures to overcome this loss in upcoming times. Administration delayed result for around 6 hours following problems display unit of electronic voting machine. This election result would lead to seizure of deposits of 28 out of 32 candidates from Jalgaon and Raver constituencies.
BJP candidate A. T. Patil secured 343,647 votes and defeated his rival NCP candidate by 96,020 Votes margin. BJP Raver candidate Haribhau Jawale scored 328,843 votes and captured seat with 28,218 vote's margin. BJP also won neighbouring Dhule seat with its candidate Pratap Sonawane taking 19,419 votes victory on rival Congress-I candidate. NCP retained its Nandurbar seat with its candidate Manikrao Gavit scoring 40,843 vote's victory on rival SP candidate.

Unseasoned raining disrupts normal life:
Jalgaon city and nearby areas witnessed sudden unseasoned raining on Sunday night for around one hour. The medium showery raining eased humidity and spread air breeze all along around 8PM in night. Rest of taluka also witnessed this raining later in night. Dhule also had raining. Raining led to damages to standing cotton and banana and took lives of 3 animals.

NMU to apply semester pattern to BA and BCOM exams:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon has announced semester patterns for arts and commerce under-graduate courses from this academic year for first year. It would then implement semester pattern for second year from 2010-11 batch and third year from 2011-12 along iwth M.A. and M.Com second years. It has announced starting up of Nano technology courses in M.Tech. (Nano-Technology). Body has also approved various new courses in third year B.A., M.A. Part-2, B.Com second year and third year science.

15th May:
Jalgaon airport work gets legal break:

Jalgaon's much ambitious airport development work has hurdles around with Jalgaon civil court staying development works until 20th June. Court has ordered this following petition from one of farmer having adjoining farm to this airport land. This land has now been acquired but authority has acquired all 3 sides lands and as a result this farmer is not able to reach and there is no connecting road available. Court has ordered District Collectorate and State Airport development Company to revert on this.

Get - Set - Go - Election 2009 counting tomorrow:
Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar district administrations are all set for final round of mega democratic exercise of Parliamentary elections 2009 tomorrow. Counting begins at 8AM and would take around 6-7 hours time to complete process. First result would be out by 9.30AM. There are 54 candidates in Khandesh, which include 15 in Dhule, Nandurbar - 7, Jalgaon - 13 and Raver - 19. Cyclonic winds and snowing hurts standing banana crop:
District continues to witness cyclonic winds and snowing at many places that include Yaval, Raver taluka and Chalisgaon taluka having medium showery raining while Hingona (Yaval) and Khadki (Chalisgaon) had snowing. Lohara and Kumbharkheda in Raver had cyclonic winds for around one hour. This sudden raining and cyclonic winds have damaged standing banana crop largely in Yaval and Raver taluka. Administrator has assessed losses of 15 Lakhs to farmers in Raver, 5-6 Lakhs in Yaval Taluka along with minor houses damaged.

14th May:
Cyclonic winds with snowing amidst extensive heat:

Mercury in sub-40 levels and sudden cyclonic winds followed by snowing made it Nature's day. Hingona (Yaval) had snowing while cyclonic winds in Raver Yaval damaged standing banana crop. Bhusawal and MuktaiNagar areas had raining while western area taluka had raining later in night. Sudden winds disrupted electricity supplies for an hour. Cyclonic winds continued until evening.

JDCC bank posts 35.55 Crores profit:
Jalgaon district's apex co-operative bank JDCC Bank has posted 35.55 Crores net profit and has fixed deposits valuation risen by 21%. Bank has ambitious plans to make its 250 branches computerised to help farmers do banking and announced 10% salary hike for all its employees. It has also announced raising limits of housing from existing 6 Lakhs to 8 Lakhs. This is first time in 5 years that bank has posted such profit. Bank has reserved losses of 248 Crores by now. Central and State government's debt waiver schemes remained most benefiting for it for recovery from non-performing assets.

13th May:
Corporation special meeting today:

Jalgaon City Municpal Corporation General body special meeting is being conducted today to discuss five topics on agenda. This meet would likely have lower presence as most of Corporators have moved out of town for summer vacations. It has amended city development plans and looks forward to allow commercial use of bus stand and workshop areas to construct shops and establishments. It also allowed certain public places like schools to have shopping complexes in boundary areas.

Water shortage likely to affect Deepnagar power generation:
Hatnur dam water levels have touched to 10% and this is likely to affect electricity produces at Deepnagar thermal power station at Bhusawal. It would likely stop production from Set#1 having daily 65MW electricity produces. District administration and Hatnur dam authorities have not sent any correspondence for this by now.

Move out Octroi - Otherwise VAT boycott: Traders announce new strategy:

State confederation of traders has announced its new strategy against state government turning around from its words on Octroi tax removal. All 15 D-category Municipal Corporation trader's confederation would initiate mega drive from 15th June on this issue. State's dwelling words on removal of tax in spite of hefty VAT collection has raised this community anger levels further. They have announced not paying VAT tax if State continues to opt same strategy on Octroi.

Credit policy of 1,318 Crores approved:
District administration has approved annual credit policy of 1,318 Crores for year 2009-10. This policy has hefty proposal of 550 Crores loans to farmers and small-scale industries along with buying agricultural equipments. District's all banks participate in this credit distribution with Central Bank as lead banker and JDCC bank as Co-operative section banker. This proposal has 121 Crores for agricultural and irrigation equipments buying and 230 Crores for non-agricultural sector, 104 Crores for food processing, 313 Crores for housing, educational, doctors, engineers loan.

Yellow lentil Pulses rate shoot by 25%:
Lowered yellow lentils production by around 35% and increasing demand has shoot up its rates by almost 25% in this season. Prices have increased sharply in last 8-10 days and have touched 5,550 to 5,950 per quintal depending on quality of produces. Jalgaon has around 1,000 quintals trade in yellow lentils. It is being sold in retail markets at 60 Rs. Per Kg now a days.

State increases grants for sports complexes:
Maharashtra State government has raised its annual grants limits for various sports complexes on district and taluka level under its sports policy 2001. Divisional sports complexes would now receive 24 Crores annual to that of 16 Crores, district complexes would receive 8 Crores to that of 4 Crores and taluka complexes would receive 1 Crore to that of 25 Lakhs currently.
New approval has Ordnance for respective complexes to submit revised budgeted plans and be approved from State committee. It also suggest to work on water supplies, drainage systems, electrification, internal roads, boundary walls alike basic infrastructural resources. This grant applies to all taluka level ongoing projects and proposed projects as well.

11th May:
Cottonomics 2008-09 - 811 Crores turnover:

Jalgaon division's buying centres having Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar districts have received 29 Lakh quintals of Cotton in this season through its 83 centres. This has generated a net turnover of 811.49 Crores in form of guaranteed rate payments to farmers. CCI has made 597,880 bales of cotton by now from this cotton and has stored at various warehouse locations. CCI has earned around 70 Crores profit from this whole process. Government availed Rs. 3,000 per quintal rate in this season to that of Rs. 2,400 per quintal in last year.

Chopda's Vipin Ashok Borole leads for Everest mount expedition:
Chopda's youth Vipin Ashok Borole has moved to Mount Everest Expedition and aims to be world's youngest person to climb on Everest. He has begun this expedition on 09th May from Kathmandu and aims to complete it in a month timeframe. He is pursing Electronics and Telecommunications engineering degree from Pune and has made best of his efforts to understand Everest climbing. MHT-CET 2009 exam tomorrow:
Medical, Engineering and Pharmacy entrance exam MHT-CET 2009 is being conducted at 24 centres in district. There are 7,677 students appearing for this exam through various centres.

Federation cup Karate competition - Bhusawal students' wins 4 medals:
Bhusawal's students won two gold and two silver medals in Jalgaon district amateur Karate association conducted national federation cup Karate competition at district stadium. Competition had participation of 23 State players. Kamini Mistri won 40kg girls category, Swarangi Deshpande won Under-14 21-25kg category, Subodh Badchape won Under-17 category silver and Dnyanesh Talele won Under-17 46-50kg category silver medal.

Increased temperature dangers banana standing crop:

Increased heat and humidity below 30% and increased electricity load shedding has led to severe damages to around 20% of standing banana crop this season. Heat is leading to damage to banana plant leaves and later damages to hood. Primary estimate reveals around 50 Crores losses due to this crop damage.

Khandesh's 7 cities striving for water - Jalgaon on top:
Khandesh region's Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Jamner, Bhusawal, Shirpur, Akkalkuva and Navapur are having medium water supplies. Bhadgaon is getting supplies every 8 days while Dharangaon, Amalner, Chalisgaon, Erandol and Sakri are getting every 4 days drinking water supplies. This is leading severe water woes to citizens in region. Girana and Tapi Rivers are region's two major water resources and region has drinking water issues being used as most selling political points.
Every year district administration, ZP and local corporation and councils waste Crores of funds to lay temporary lines and projects to tackle this problem. Monsoon raining is still the only major fortunate source for region for drinking and other water related needs.

National horticultural mission - district gets 4 Crores approval:
District administration has approved 4.33 Crores action plan for national horticultural mission to district council for year 2009-10. ZP submitted around 12 Crores primary action plan for this mission. Agricultural department spared 63.70 Lakhs fund in 2008-09 for various projects under NHM. Various work includes development of 68 public lakes at 1.41 Crores cost, farming schools at 90 locations in district and related produces projects along with food protection mission 2009-10 drive works.

Jalgaon deafest Sindhdurg by innings lead in under-16 MCA cricket competition:
Jalgaon team has defeated Sindhdurg boys by first inning lead in under-16 MCA cricket competition at Kolhapur. Jalgaon scored 317 runs in first inning with Suraj Mayati scoring phenomenal 175 runs not out. Jalgaon bowlers bowled out opponents on 188 runs with Jagidsh and Paresh each taking 3 wickets.
In response, Jalgaon scored 108/8 at second day end with Nikhil Patil scoring 59 and Kunal Falak scoring 21 runs. Jalgaon team earlier defeated Gudge Eleven Pune and got defeated from Nanded, Aurangabad and Ahmednagar.

District wins 12 gold in national skating competition:
Jalgaon district players have shined rink race and road race national skating competition conducted at Aurangabad. Jalgaon has won 12 gold, 16 silver and 9 bronze medals in this competition. Jalgaon's 41 players participated in this competition.

09th May:
Corporation general body meeting on Wednesday:

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation administration is conducting general body meeting on 13th May, Wednesday to discuss various projects in run. This is first meeting after Election Code of Conduct completion. There are five topics in agenda in meet and has changes to City Development Plan as major discussion topic.
Amongst other topics include availing room to handicapped development council in Corporation School; approve road works for various roads under PWD works, construction of various public wastewater channels. It has also conducted a review meeting for pre-monsoon preparations and disaster management and has ordered all departments to submit review report before 31st May.

Kharip planning - agricultural department estimates 8 Lakh hectares cultivation:
Jalgaon district council agricultural department has estimated 811,800 hectares cultivation for Kharip 2009 season. This includes cotton as most favoured crop with 443,800 hectares under cotton cultivation. Amongst other includes Jwar - 269,488 hectares, Corn - 225,108 hectares, sunflower - 3,250 hectares.

Water woes - Hatnur dam reaches 17.49% storage mark:
District's second largest drinking water supplies resource Hatnur dam is reaching its lows. It has touched 17.49% mark and is lower by 13.80% as compared to last year. Increasing heat and continued use are amongst two major reasons. Hatnur supplies drinking water to 81 villages and major places in district.

Jalgaon to host Khashaba Jadhav wrestling competition:

State government and Maharashtra wrestling council are conducting 3 days national wrestling competition from 06th until 08th June 2009 at district stadium. There would be two mate of 16x16 each in stadium. This is second national level competition in Khandesh in recent 5 years after Dhule's host of this competition in 2004.
Competition is in 7 weight categories namely 55, 60, 66, 74, 84, 96 and 125 with free style and Greco Roman styles. It would have likely participation of 350 wrestlers from across countries and has expected budget of 40 Lakhs. State sponsors 19 Lakhs of this and rest would be collected from MLA and MP funds in district.

Bodwad Taluka's 5 villages declared water-short villages:
District administration has announced Bodwad's five villages as water short zones. It has initiated various measures to curb this shortage. This includes Jamthi, Muktal, Waki, Chinchkhed, Varkhed B.K. and Varkhed Bk. Most of these villages are getting 5-days and 8-days alternate supplies.

Pratap College Amalner receives 23 Lakhs devices for Nano material research:
Pratap College Amalner has received various laboratory devices and setup for Nano material research lab. This includes F.T.I.R. from DRDO and photo luminous devices and UV visible spectra meter.

07th May:
Administration to begin votes counting training:

Jalgaon district administration is soon initiating votes counting training for its election staff. Votes counting for Jalgaon and Raver is scheduled on 16th May at MIDC based MSIDC warehouse. Counting would begin from 8AM and process is likely to have 16-22 rounds. There are around 1,000 staff to handle the whole process. First training is at Bhagirath High School Jalgaon on 09th May.

Schools to come under State committee:
Maharashtra State government has shown its plans to formulate a control committee to monitor and control fees structure of all schools including private ones in State. This would likely force schools not to increase fees in this coming academic session.

Jalgaon's 4 players selected in state team:
Jalgaon's four players Anil Rathod, Central railways player Antonius Gregory, NMU player Rakesh M. Karosiya and Rameez Khan have been selected in State team for 63rd Santosh trophy football competition in Tamilnadu.

Kharip Plantation planning:

Jalgaon district agricultural department has registered demand of 344,000 tonnes of chemical and mixed fertilisers with various companies. It has received 35,600 tonnes of this demand and expects further smooth conduct for this season. Raver taluka is on top of list with 63,924 tonnes of demand followed by Yaval with 32,723 tones, Chalisgaon - 28,918 tonnes and MuktaiNagar - 28,918 tones.

MHT-CET 2009 on 12th May:
Medical, pharmacy and engineering entrance exam MHT-CET 2009 would be conducted throughout State on Tuesday, 12th May 2009. This exam is at 24 centres in Jalgaon district and would start from 10AM until 4.30PM with various papers in sequence.

Corporation plans to sell Waghur water to industries:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has announced its plan to share available Waghur dam water with industries in region to ease its financial burden. Administration has laid Waghur dam supplies in whole Jalgaon city and has succeeded in keeping away water woes in peak summer times in this season. Currently Corporation has alternate day water supplies and has willingness to avail daily supplies depending on feasibility of pipelines. Commercial/ industrial supplies rate is Rs. 18.75 per thousand litres.
Corporation alternatively looks to offer water supplies through private party tendering as in Octroi. Current pipelines state, leakages, cost affordability to citizens, and ability to serve private party for such requirements would be challenges for Corporation to move to private party water supplies.

Varangaon native Aniket tops in UPSC exam:

Union Public Services Commission conducted 2008 written main exam result has been declared. Varangaon native and currently Pune resident Aniket Mandavgane has scored 29th rank in country and has secured first rank in State in this exam for Indian foreign services. Dharangaon based Vishal Makwane has also cleared this exam for Indian Revenue services. Vishal has scored 300th rank in country and has topped in Jalgaon district in this exam.
This is Dharangaon's third success in UPSC exam. Before this, Leena Mehndale cleared for administrative officer in 1975 followed by Satish Agnihotri in 1983 for I.A.S.

Amalner Rath festivity today:
Saint Sakharam Maharaj Rath festivity is being observed today at Amalner. It is city's ancient tradition and is observed every Vaishakha Shuddha Ekadashi and started from 1818. Festivity has thousands of devotees from across State. Festivity has PP Prasad Maharaj and Belapurkar Maharaj blessing devotees.

Election Code of Conduct ends - likely to boost pending developmental works:
Parliamentary Elections 2009 Code of Conduct has relaxed following completion of voting process. Administration can now allow Ministers to use Government vehicles and inaugurate public events. Corporations and councils could raise fresh tenders for various pending works. This relaxation would cease on votes counting day i.e. on 16th May 2009 and reinstate for regular works thereafter.

Fifth national Karate competition ends in Jalgaon:
District amateur karate association conducted fifth national karate championship ended yesterday with prize distribution. Competition had participation of players from across India in various categories of weight. It was played at district sports complex.

04th May:
District co-operative department proposes for independent cell for troubled societies:

Jalgaon district co-operative department has sent proposal of formation of independent cell for handling societies and depositors ran in trouble. This proposal requires 29 officers and staff for co-ordination and has been forwarded to its superiors for final approval. District has 929 urban co-operative societies and 181 employed person's co-operative societies with 138,994 members having deposited 63,863.26 Lakhs.
This deposit sum includes 5,054.75 Lakhs to be refunded as maturity amount and have been able to recover 1,040.38 Lakhs from loans due. Report further conveys 40 societies in trouble and 31 having co-operative audit order and 17 with severe financial misappropriations. It estimates 65 Crores 91 Lakhs 8,144 Rupees irregularities in these societies.

Jhipru Anna Maharaj memorial at Nashirabad:
Nashirabad's rural deity Jhipru Anna Maharaj's 60th Memorial Day is being observed from 15th until 18th May 2009. Committee has organised various events on the eve to mark this event. It begins with Abhishek and worshipping on 15th along with Navkundi Gayatri Havan Havan and Dipotsava in evening. Second day has Rudrabhishek and Parayan and continue with Satsang on 17th and various worshipping on 18th.

Mercury rises back with heat waves:
Region witnessed sudden rise of temperature yesterday. Mercury again touched 45 degrees in Bhusawal and was at 44.3 degrees in Jalgaon. Neighbouring Dhule had 43.2 degrees on scale.

National Karate competition inaugurated:
District amateur Karate association conducted fifth national Karate federation of India competition was inaugurated yesterday at district sports complex. It has participation of 22 State teams in various categories. Competition ends today with prize distribution in evening.

03rd May:
Administration confirms Swine fever to pigs died:

Jalgaon district council administration has confirmed recent death of 1,200 pigs, 500 chickens by swine fever and there is no incidence of Swine Flu in district. Chickens died due to some other disease. District animal husbandry department has sent blood samples for investigation to Nashik and Pune along with Diseases investigation Centre Bhopal. It has further confirmed that there is no danger to human beings from any of this deaths and fever.

Schools announce results for Class V to IX:
District's most of schools have announced results for Class V to IX. This year result has almost 99% Result in all the schools following new score evaluation pattern. New pattern has 80 marks for written exams while 20 Marks for oral and related internal tests. Focus in question paper designing is almost amongst major reason of drop of failed students.

Academic year 2009-10 to have 76 holidays:
Academic year 2009-10 has 230 days schooling and 76 days as holidays apart from Sundays. State educational directorate has announced this schedule applicable for all schoolings in State with aim to synchronise all holidays. This year's Diwali holiday start from 12th November and restarts from 15th June 2009 for this session.

02nd May:
Government engineering college Jalgaon new building setup:

Government College of Engineering Jalgaon's new main academic and administrative building along with various amenities has been setup at 40 Crores expense at government owned land near government polytechnic Jalgaon. Newly setup amenities include Library, IT lab, various laboratories and separate classrooms for all courses along with one each hostel for boys and girls with 246 rooms. This building would be inaugurated before beginning of new academic session.

State wins Silver in Roll ball skating competition:
Maharashtra State mixed boys and girls' team has won silver medal in national mini roll ball Championship competition conducted at Kolhapur. This team had Jalgaon players Sejal Dhande and Mukul Lohar demonstrating best plays. State boys defeated MP by 7-0, Karnataka by 13-0 and UP by 1-0 along with Tamilnadu by 7-2 to qualify for finals. Jammu and Kashmir team defeated Maharashtra boys in final by 7-2.
Mixed team defeated Andhra and Kerala to enter finals. J & K team defeated State team by 6-2 here as well. J & K team defeated State girls by 2-0 in final.

Mercury eases with breeze and clouds:
Intense summer heat relieved a bit yesterday with good wind flow throughout day and cloudy turnout easing heat. Jalgaon had 46.5 degree centigrade while Dhule had 43.6 and Nandurbar had 44.5 degrees. District once renowned hill station Pal had 46 degrees recorded yesterday. Intense and worsening heat is affecting banana produces and overall productivity. It is drying banana plant leaves and thereby damaging crop.

Khandesh to get 13 Crores for health centre improvement programme:
Existing State primary health centres have received extension of four beds each with estimated cost of 13 Crores. There are 128 primary health centres in Khandesh, which include 30 in Nandurbar, 19 in Dhule, and maximum 79 in Jalgaon with 7.90 Crores cost estimate.

National Karate competition from 03rd May:
District amateur Karate association is conducting fifth national federation trophy Karate competition in Jalgaon sports complex from 03rd May. The two days competition is based on international federation rules and is in various categories.
It includes Sub-junior, junior, open and open full contact categories for both boys and girls in various weight groups. Association expects participation of around 500+ players from across India.
