31st July:
Manudevi waterfall attracts tourists:

Satpuda hills based Manudevi temple region has a special natural attraction these days. Temple surrounding has around 100 feet high waterfall flowing with full water pace. Earlier raining has turned environment lush green. Raining opened has now led to good inflow of tourism for pilgrimage and tourism here. Manudevi temple is region's one of most ancient traditional and religious location.

District farmers consumes 300 Crores chemical fertilisers and pesticides every year:
Jalgaon district farmers are using hopping 5 Lakh tonnes of chemical fertilisers amounting to around 300 Crores per year. Fertilisers and agricultural statistics have revealed Jalgaon to be #1 chemical fertilisers consuming zone and has alarmed on rising Ph factor thereby. Jalgaon district had 586,639 tonnes of chemical fertilisers procured in year 2008-09 and this year is also likely to have to same figures. Soil testing reports have revealed PH factor of 8 in region's soil. There is immediate need of district agricultural authority intervention to encourage farmers to move away from this chemical farming to inorganic way.

Khandesh level chess competition at Pachora:
Pachora Jaycees and Shivsena jointly conducted Khandesh level chess competition ended yesterday with Pratik Patil winning open category and Neha Mudliyar winning under-15 category. Anjali Patil Pachora scored 5.5 points to win juniors and Shashikala Patil Shendurni won senior's category along with Kiran Patil securing second rank and Pravin Somani getting third rank.

30th July:
SSC ATKT qualifies around 6,000 students in district:

Maharashtra State government announced ATKT for SSC from this year has generated around 24,000 students eligibility from Nashik division for College admission. This includes around 6,000 students in Jalgaon district alone. This ATKT is kept as optional for student and student opting has to clear earlier subjects within stipulated time frame.

State approves Rs. 183 Crores Shegaon pilgrimage package:
Maharashtra State government has approved special package of Rs. 193 Crores on eve of Shree Gajanan Maharaj centennial memorial festivity in 2010. Proposal includes renovation of public works department rest house, setup facilitation centres and parking services along with primary health care centres. It also aims to enhance infrastructural facilities like road, bridges, connecting roads development, water supplies enhancement and waste management. Proposal also includes adding more services and facilities at railway station, setting up bus terminus, bus stand and related works.

St. Joseph and Shanbag wins Under-17 football competition:
District level Subrato Mukhrjee under-17 football competition ended yesterday with St. Joseph winning on Iqra by 1-0 in Penalty stroke in Corporation level and Shanbag defeating Swaminarayan Gurukul team by 1-0 in rest of district competition. Earlier Zambre School defeated Orion by 3-2 to enter in Semis. St. Joseph defeated Zambre School in Semis to enter finals. In another Semi-final, Iqra Shahin defeated Millat High School by 1-0.

29th July:
Jalgaon airport development handed over to AAI:

Jalgaon airport development work has finally entered in right hands. After years of paper formalities and show on Jalgaon district administration has handed over Jalgaon airport development work to Airport Authority of India. AAI and State Airport development Company entered into agreement on this project. AAI has announced full completion of project within 2 years time span. AAI GM signed this agreement yesterday in Jalgaon and assured best efforts to start flights take off before this allocated time span.
Administration has leased this 219 hectares land to AAI for 60 years time span and State would avail security services for the project with 5 years span. AAI has proven track of airport development works throughout Country and this move has delighted Jalgaonities of likely hope of earliest start up of new era of growth.

Jalgaon's first Europe banana consignment shipping today:
Savda based Banana facilitation centre's first shipping of 9 tonnes of banana is being sent to Europe today. Centre has tied up with Delhi based firm for exports of five containers every month each of 18 tonnes. Entire export process goes through standards and norms set for food exports with 16kg box packaging and 6 hours pre cooling. It would move from railway to Mumbai and then through sea route for Europe in maximum 24 days time span. Centre has received Rs. 90 per dozen additional rate for this consignment.

Subrato Mukhrjee football competition:
Godavari English school has won corporation-level and Biyani English school Bhusawal has won rest of district Under-14 Subrato Mukhrjee Football competition played in district stadium Jalgaon. Iqra Shahin and Iqra resident school won runner awards in respective categories. Godavari defeated Irq by 2-0 while Biyani defeated by 3-2. Competition has under-17 category competition today.

28th July:
Banana rates shoot up to Rs. 812 per quintal:

District banana is witnessing record rise in pricing following increase in demand due to festive season. Farmers and producers sold banana at Rs. 812 with difference of Rs. 12 yesterday per quintal. It was at Rs. 725 in last week. Lower productivity due to delayed raining is amongst major cause of price rise. Banana is being sold at Rs. 15-20 per kg in retail markets here.

Vadgaon tops in State in Panchayat Raj project:
Jalgaon district's Vadgaon in Chopda taluka has topped Yashwant Panchayat Raj project throughout State. Jalgaon Panchayat committee has secured second rank on Nashik divisional level. This award is for period from April 2007 until March 2008 for excellence in services and 2008-09 rural development awards. Project aims at encouraging rural India to facilitate growth by implementing various projects.

27th July:
Co-operative depositors call for go to Jail on Saturday:

Jalgaon district co-operative depositors are going on a day go to Jail protest strike on Saturday, 01st August. Depositors are demanding immediate action and resolution package from State government on co-operative societies having trapped Crores of deposits. RBI has earlier cancelled license of Parola Urban Bank and depositors want same action on other co-operative banks as well.
Until now 67 co-operative depositors have died following non availability of money to treatments and various critical needs. Most of depositors largely include hard earner having saved money from its daily earnings.

Shravana season's first Monday today:
Shravana month has begun and its auspicious first Monday is being celebrated today. Region's all Lord Shiva temples are lighting decorated to mark this event. This season also marks lush green surroundings with religious and spiritual activities on most.

Kedar Chavan on E-TV Super Dancer series:
Prem Nagar Jalgaon resident Kedar Sanjay Chavan has been selected in newly starting E-TV Marathi based dance competition Super Dancer from today. He is only qualifier candidate from Northern Maharashtra region. Competition has State's 24 artists in 6-14 years age group performing dance on various classic themes. Programme broadcast is every Monday and Tuesday night 9.30PM. Kedar has marked special performance in Michael Jackson style.

Police head quarters win sports competition:
Jalgaon district police headquarter has won ongoing inter-police divisional sports competition ended yesterday. Jalgaon division won runner up award. Competition had friendly cricket match along with various sports having participation of Jalgaon, Chopda, Bhusawal, Faizpur, Amalner, MuktaiNagar, Pachora and Chalisgaon divisional players.

26th July:
Six village Panchayat bye-election today:

Jalgaon district's six village Panchayat are undergoing voting today. This includes Kandari (Jalgaon), Adgaon (Erandol), Waghod (Raver), Therole (Raver), Hatle (Chalisgaon) and Khadki Bk in Chalisgaon taluka. This is bye-election in these Panchayat. Administration has made adequate security measures for smooth conduct of whole process.

Industrial township separation notification - call for comments until 05th August:
Maharashtra State urban development ministry issued notification on separation of Jalgaon industrial township has 05th August as last date of filling objections and comments. Notification was issued on 06th July 2009 and objections can be noted at district Collectorate office.

25th July:
Corporation private bus service from 15th August:

Jalgaon city municipal corporation is beginning its city transporting service with effect from 15th August 2009. Initially it has decided to introduce 10 buses which would be later on increased depending on response from public. It has contracted Aurangabad based private tour operator to smooth conduct the whole service. It would run these buses on 15 routes defined and later on expand to rural areas.

State announces ATKT for SSC students:
Maharashtra State government has announced ATKT option for SSC failing students. It has allowed appearing in FYJC for students failing maximum up to 2 subjects and has 40% marks for science admission. These students would be required to clear subjects in October 2009 or March 2010 exam to continue admission failing which it would be cancelled. Order also assumes practical and oral marks of failed subjects. However HSC students would not get any benefit of this carry over as announced earlier. Board would conduct a separate supplementary exam for HSC students.

Jalgaon junior chess heroes shines in Nagpur:
Jalgaon district's various junior chess players have demonstrated excellent chess play at ongoing Raisoni FIDE rated chess competition at Nagpur. Jalgaon player Pratik Patil has scored second rank in Under-15 and 13th rank in open category. Hardik Mehta scored 7 points; Rohit Lune scored 6 and Vrishabha Shah with Divyesh Patil each scoring 5.5 points. Pratik won trophy and Cash Prize of Rs. 2,500.

24th July:
Industrial township new limits in questions:

Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation administration and industrial township separation limits are in questions. State urban development ministry announced GR to form this township by separating old and new industrial area from city limits. New limits have two blocks which include co-operative industrial estate zone (part-1) and other in Mehrun, Khedi Bk, Manyarkhede, Pimprala, Nimkhedi and Kusumba (Part-2). Both parts do not have any adjoining points and hence limits are in question. Corporation's questioning of limits has been taken as another way to barricade growth as same pattern is currently applicable to CIDCO Aurangabad.

Banana rate reaches peak - Rs. 700 per quintal:
District's banana is moving up with growing demands. It has touched Rs. 700 per quintal rate yesterday with Kajgaon (Chalisgaon) getting good demand. Northern India demands and cyclonic winds losses in Gujarat and MP areas reducing overall productivity are key reasons to price rise.

State pre-election lottery - College professors to get Sixth pay commission, health care centre doctors get desired payments:
Maharashtra State cabinet meeting has approved applying sixth pay commission to all University and Colleges teachers with effect from 01st January 2006. Professors went under indefinite strike demanding this pay effect from 2006 which would cause State additional burden of 2,266.20 Crores for period from 01st January 2006 until 31st March 2010. Government has urged teachers to withdraw strike and immediate join duties.
State health ministry conducted a meet with confederation of health officers in primary centre on demands of non practicing allowance. It has approved PB-3 grade of Rs. 15,600 to these doctors and optional non-practicing allowance. Doctors have withdrawn their strike continued for three days. This strike paralysed civil and public health services in state.

Bodwad irrigation project public hearing completed:
Khandesh and Vidarbha border farmers Sanjivani Bodwad region irrigation project ecology related public hearing was completed yesterday. Hearing had farmers, villagers and ecology conservers' participation. Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil lead got State quick approval to this project. Administration has announced cultivation of 5 Lakh trees in this region to catalyse agriculture further. It has sent this review to central environmental department Delhi for final approval.

State electricity distribution company Jalgaon circle office inauguration today:
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company is inaugurating its Jalgaon circle office today with State energy minister arrival today. Today's inauguration also include two sub-division one each at V sector and M sector. Jalgaon circle would now have Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar districts earlier part of Nashik division and would have 11 divisional offices one each at Bhusawal, Savda, Jalgaon, Pachora, Chalisgaon, Dharangaon, Dhule city, Dhule rural, Dondaicha, Nandurbar and Shahada. This circle has 10.59 Lakhs customers as of now.
This circle would get special package of 473 Crores from its revenue department for various 10 new sub-divisions, special 15 feeders for water supplies projects and setting up overhead and underground supplies in Jalgaon city estimated at 88.67 Crores.

Dhule's Madhavrao Patil receives 'Lifetime achievement award':
Dhule based sports teacher Madhavrao Patil has been announced for Shiv Chhatrapati lifetime achievement award in sports for the year. He would receive this award in formal ceremony on 02nd August in Mumbai. He has contributed largely in Kho-Kho since 1965 and has various awards and honours to his name on district, state, national and international levels.

23rd July:
Monsoon raining pleases region:

Region has witnessed continued 3 days rain showering since yesterday night. This has turned to one of nature's bliss to region witnessed once in last many years. Continued raining has helped farmers' complete cultivation and ease water woes of district. Hatnur dam's all 36 gates are open to full extent following good rainfall in Tapi river areas. Raining has stopped since today morning but climate still is cloudy.

State package for Northern Maharashtra disappoints Jalgaon:
Maharashtra State cabinet yesterday announced special package for northern Maharashtra has fade Jalgaonities hope of good funds. Rs. 6,509.80 Crores fund for 3 years does not have any special allocations for Jalgaon's long term growth. Package has fund allocation to completion of Padalsare dam, girl's hostels in Amalner and Raver each at 3.26 Crores and debt waiver for drip irrigation farmers. It also proposes setting up new drama centre, two mega irrigation areas, 300 dual pumps setup, chilling plants for fruits and vegetables, special aid of 20 Crores per year to two agricultural produces and processing societies, development of Patnadevi temple area, Kothli MuktaiNagar and Pal tourism centres and Yaval forestry.
Neighbouring Dhule has got special fund allocation of Rs. 15 Crores for Airport extension, 12 Crores for medical college and Nandurbar getting red chilli trade and processing centre. Package has offered debt waiver of 500 Crores for drip irrigation farmers. Real implementation of all announced packages pre and post elections would remain key challenges to growth of whole northern Maharashtra.

22nd July:
Showery raining pleases with Monsoon best effect:

Whole Khandesh continues to witness showery rainfall begun since Monday evening. Administration has reported average rainfall of 32.6mm while Yaval on top having 58.6mm rainfall in two days. Showering has led to increase in ground water level by a meter. It has opened Hatnur dam's all 36 gates to control water pressure and has sent alerts to villagers on bank of Tapi River. Continued raining is helping in dam and lakes water level increase. Continued raining however has disrupted regular farming works and routine life.
Neighbouring Dhule and Nandurbar districts also witnessed same showering through two days and Girana dam region also had good raining. Mor dam 4 gates are open to control water pressure.

State Electricity Distribution Company employees strike paralyse living:
State wide strike of Electricity Distribution Company employees made Tuesday in pain. There was no electricity in whole region since Monday midnight till Tuesday evening 6PM following strike. None of Governmental, local, district administration interfered to offer immediate secondary backup solution to critical need of electricity supplies. Strike was called off yesterday evening with State government announcing 30% hike in basic to all employees. Strike led to no industrial production yesterday and residential supplies remained off for the day.

21st July:
Jalgaon city municipal corporation opposes industrial township separation:

Amongst one of new political woes in city's overall growth aspects, Jalgaon city municipal corporation general body has unanimously resolved to oppose separation of industrial township from city limits quoting it to be loss making deal for corporation in form of Octroi and property tax. Ruling party opposed this formation while opposition voted in favour of formation. Ruling party majority demanded special state compensation to balance city administration revenues side. This decision would now go in State to finalise using its powers and willingness of growth in region.

Raining pleases whole region:
Khandesh zone is witnessing one of season's best rainfall beginning since yesterday evening. Raining continued for whole night in heavy to medium form. Climate is cloudy and rain showers are in full pace since then. Continued raining and cloudy atmosphere is likely to raise problems in solar eclipse view in the region. This raining would largely benefit farmers awaiting good continued rain.

State Electricity distribution company employees on strike from today:
Maharashtra State electricity distribution company employees from Bhartiya Kamgar Sena, Maharashtra State electricity Shramik Congress, MSEB Workers union, Backward class senior engineers association, officers association, BEST workers association and national electricity worker organisation are undergoing indefinite strike that began from yesterday midnight. State Electricity Distribution Company has termed this strike as illegal as it has already raised 22% salary to all of these employees. Growing production and distribution gap losses, enhancing customer services and above all reduction of corruption in distribution system are key challenges to Company.

Corporation general body special meeting today to discuss on industrial township formation:

Jalgaon city municipal corporation general body is meeting today to discuss its stand on state announced separating of industrial township from city limits. Last meet empowered Mayor to conduct meetings with industrial association representatives to arrive at decision thereof. Corporation conducted several rounds of meeting with industrial sector and explored all possibilities of taking them in confidence on not to separate industrial sector from corporation and offering best services to sector.
However industrial fraternity has categorically denied corporation proposed amenities stating them to be non-practical seeing current state of corporation developments and moreover separating would strengthen and catalyse growth. General body would today decide its stand either to oppose this formation by submitting resolution to State in the reference or to be liberal and allow separation and move ahead to the project. If body opposes this formation, it would turn to legal angle and state would be required to exercise its power in the reference.

Solar eclipse on Wednesday, 22nd July:
Century's first solar eclipse would be visible on 22nd July throughout region. Dhule and Nandurbar would have total solar eclipse while regions would have partial solar eclipse visibility. Next eclipse is in 2034 and last one was on 11th August 1999. Dhule and Nandurbar will have eclipse view from 06:02AM until 07:20AM while Jalgaon will have eclipse view from 05:59AM until 07:21AM.

District co-operative depositors to make protest march at cabinet meeting in Nashik:
Jalgaon district's co-operative depositors are making a strong protest march during State cabinet meeting at Nashik on 22nd July at Nashik. Depositors are demanding depositor special package/ soft loan to these societies to escape of financial woes and get their deposit repayment. Protest committee has also shown their readiness to burn-alive seeing state of financial difficulties faced.

District police sports competitions from 24th July:
Jalgaon district police division is conducting 3 days various sports competitions from 24th July at Police parade ground. This competition has participation of 225 players and officers from 8 divisions in region. It includes basket ball, volleyball, hockey, football, Kabbadi, karate, boxing, judo wrestling, swimming, racing and others.

19th July:
District's 6 dam still dry:

Monsoon 2009 woes are harder to accept facts for district. District's Manyad, Bori, Bahula, Hivra, Agnavati and Bhokarbari dam are still dry. Medium to lower raining by time has escaped standing crop but could cause drinking water woes in rest of year. Mangrul dam is on top of list with 91.54% water storage followed by Mor with 48.48%, Ambhora with 36%, Suki - 56%, Waghur - 2.92%, Girana - 13% and Hatnur with 22.30% water storage. Girana and Bori dam gates are now closed while Hatnur's 8 gates are still open.

242 water samples found polluted:
District health authority collected random sampling of drinking water at various points in district has resulted in 242 samples found polluted. This includes 13 in urban and 229 in rural areas with 43 samples having above 10% polluted level. This would raise waterborne diseases in region during this season. This includes 10 in Bhusawal. Sampling had 1735 water samples from rural and 546 in urban areas.

18th July:
Industrial township formation to catalyse industrial growth:

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation and industrial sector associations representation joint meetings are not yielding any conclusions. State government has announced formation of separate Industrial Township. This would result in change of corporation limits to Mehrun, Khedi Bk, Manyarkhede and Kusumba Kh. Corporation stand plays crucial role in speedy processing of official formalities.

Rain pours in Amalner taluka:
Amalner taluka is witnessing good raining since last 15 days. It has recorded 212mm raining by now and most of Rivers and dam here are now having water. Taluka has 70,000 hectares land under Kharip cultivation which largely includes cotton - 39,324 hectares, Jwar - 5,521, corn - 6,790 hectares and others. Raining has also eased drinking water woes of region.

District sports authority calls for nomination to various sports awards:
Jalgaon district sports authority has called all players to file nominations for various awards for the year. This includes best sports teacher, Purushottam sports award, Best swimmer, Best Kho-Kho player, best performer, best ocean swimmer and best wrestler for duration from 01st June 2008 until 30th May 2009. Prize includes Rs. 1,001 cash and memento with certificates. Last date of filling is 25th July 2009. Please contact district sports authority office at district stadium for detailed information.

17th July:
RBI puts Parola Urban Bank under liquidation:

Reserve Bank of India has cancelled Parola urban co-operative bank Ltd banking license and has put it in liquidation. Co-operative department has appointed its administrator for the purpose. Bank got trapped and failed in maintaining its liquidity. RBI seeing this cancelled bank's other than loans collection transactions on 28th January 2009.

Gul irrigation project towards completion:
Chopda taluka Guli River based Gul irrigation project is in final state and dam would likely start water collection by September this year. This project completion took 29 years of prolonged time and has expenditure of 45 Crores. It would benefit whole of Chopda taluka farmers for watering crops.

Deepnagar extension project testing in October:
Deepnagar based Bhusawal thermal power station extension unit work is in full pace. Officials are in plan to conduct hydraulic testing of boilers after lifting completion likely in October. BTPS currently has 475MW power generation capacity. Proposed extension has two new units each with 500MW. First unit's boiler work is completed in March2009 and this is likely to get activated in June 2010 while second goes live in October 2010.

16th July:
Corporation lollypop for industrial area - offers host of perks from city development plan:

Jalgaon city municipal corporation administration and its presentation is making all possible efforts not to lose industrial area from its limits. Corporation is conducting meetings with industry representation to arrive at further decision on this aspect. Corporation administration has offered various amenities and services to industrial in its proposed city development plan of Rs. 2,100/- Crores. Industrial area currently avails 105.50 Crores revenue and has estimated expenses of 82.69 Crores per year.
Industrial representation has put its demands of clear presentation of development plan, offering special packages to arrive at decision on this. Both parties would meet again many times in coming days to arrive at conclusion. Industrial township separation would not only decontrol corporation ruling on MIDC but also significantly help new authority to formulate policies and action plans purely with industrial zone development purview.

Monsoon 2009 - 37 Taluka in Northern Maharashtra with lower raining:
Monsoon 2009 has faded hopes of farmers in the northern Maharashtra region. Out of 39 Taluka in North Maharashtra region, 37 taluka have raining below average rainfall. Farmers are anxious and await heavy rain to escape of likely financial woe by lower rainfall in this monsoon. District has 8.50 Lakhs hectare land under cultivation for this season.

State approves 64 divisions extension to Colleges:
Maharashtra State education department has approved 64 new division requests in Khandesh region for junior and senior colleges. This includes 36 for Jalgaon and 14 each for Dhule and Nandurbar. District government hospitals doctors strike paralyse health services:

Jalgaon district government primary health care centre doctors underwent strike for various demands. Strike has paralysed medical and health services in government primary health care centres having wide presence in rural areas. District civil hospital had emergency and normal services continued without any disruption.
These doctors are demanding implementation of sixth pay commission and approval of Grade-A status and remuneration according to central government scale. All these doctors made common leave application for the day at 77 health centres, 20 rural hospitals and two sub-district hospitals.

Corporation general body suspend industrial township discussion:

Jalgaon city municipal corporation general body has unanimously resolved to suspend discussion on proposed separation of industrial township from Jalgaon corporation. It has resolved to discuss this issue and present its fiscal deficits of around 40% to industrial fraternity and arrive at decision to move further. It has formed a committee chaired by Mayor and having all party members.
Body has approved 12 topics on agenda and rest were suspended. It has approved alternate road creation from Railway station to Pt. Nehru Chowk, change of reservation status to Mehrun Shivar extension sector-7 from no development zone to residential zone and appointment of architects for Pimprala hospital construction and new welcome gate at Khote Nagar. It would now conduct next meeting on 20th July. Body has also granted Rs. 1 Lakh for State table ball badminton competition and Rs. 50,000 to Patharwat community.

Jalgaon wholesale trade witnesses pulses sales fall by around 25%:
Jalgaon Dana Bazaar has wholesale trade of around 500 tonnes with cost of around 4 Crores for various pulses. Increase in prices of various pulses has caused fall of around 25% in this sales. Traders are demanding immediate State intervention to control rising pulses prices.
Yellow lentils have risen to Rs. 85-90 per Kg while gram ahs rose to 35-37 Rs. per Kg level and black lentils are at 65-67 Rs. Per KG. Region has stock of last year produces and there are no produces in this season by now. Rice has also risen considerably. Good quality Chinor is at Rs. 26-27 per kg level.

Jalgaon industrial township fate today:

Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation general body is meeting today to discuss various 15 topics on its agenda. Amongst major topic includes resistance to proposed separation of industrial area from city and forming Industrial Township. Corporation is in likely plan to put a resolution demand special compensation from State government at around 40 Crores on grounds of revenue losses occurred due to this separation. Industrial fraternity has already posted rage on Corporators and administration stand causing barrier in industrial township formation.

Maharashtra State government decision offering ATKT for SSC students has spread chaos in educational sector. Organisations active in field of education have marked wide protest to this inorganic decision likely to cause quality disorder in education. North Maharashtra University gets Rs. 6.90 Crores grant:

Khandesh region's educational hub North Maharashtra University Jalgaon has received University Grant Commission grants worth Rs. 6.90 Crores under 11th five year plan. NMU has received approval letter for the same and would soon receive funds. This approval is based on recent committee visit and recommendations. It includes 6.47 Crores for development plans, 38 Lakhs for merged schemes of various departments, and 5 Lakhs for internal quality assessment council.

Nandurbar district's 6 players in Indian leather ball cricket team:
Nandurbar leather ball cricket association 6 players are selected in Indian leather ball team for International cricket competition at Thailand. This includes Swapnil Endait, Sandeep Sable, Rahul Gavit, Vijay Sonawane, Kuldeep Ramraje and Shrikant Kapure (Taloda). Team would undergo two-days training camp from 26th July at Kolkata.

Jalgaon district belt wrestling association players participated in State competition at Solapur. Jalgaon player Sayyed Shaikh won gold in 60kg junior category, Sandeep Kumawat won gold in sub-junior category along with Rahul Patil winning silver and Ahmed khan winning bronze in 75kg category.

District's around 1,800 Panchayat member on verge of disqualifying:

Jalgaon district various village Panchayat's around 1,800 members include 65 Panchayat heads are likely to face disqualification notice following them not being able to avail toilets and cleanliness measures for their own families. District Magistrate would conduct final hearing from 21st July. Most of these members and their families had open toileting leading to failure of district council not being able to achieve good cleanliness standards and open-toileting free village status.
Jalgaon has around 1500 villages and places and this large number of members' status for basic amenities understanding has raised questions of them doing social representation and serving society.

Co-operative depositors protest hunger strike today:
Jalgaon district co-operative societies depositors protection committee is conducting protest hunger strike today from 11AM until 4PM in front of district Collectorate. Depositors intense strike and protest march have not have yielded any fruits as of now. Dozing State co-operative department and government has not paid any attention to issue by now.

Corporation woes on separate industrial township:

Jalgaon city municipal corporation general body has proposed all different stand on proposed industrial township in Jalgaon. Corporation general body has passed resolution demanding State compensation of Rs. 5 Crores per month towards revenue loss in separation and filling writ petition in Mumbai high court against the same. Administration has proposed putting resolution to cancel its permission to formation of Industrial Township. General body is meeting on Monday, 13th July to discuss this and other 15 issues on agenda.
Corporation earns 25.50 Crores from Octroi and around 3.89 Crores from house taxes in industrial area. This would also lead to shifting of businesses there. This would harm corporation revenue side severely and caused financial pain to Corporation. Industrial fraternity has taken this Corporation stand as anti-trade and has expressed anguish on the same. Meet also has proposal of conversion of 1,500 acres land in Mehrun Shivar currently under no development zone to residential township from Corporation.

District's 485 co-operative societies to undergo special audit:
Jalgaon district's 485 out of 903 co-operative societies would now undergo special State co-operative audit. This decision was announced with purview of financial irregularities in 40 societies. First phase will have 71 societies in audit through State co-operative GDCA auditors.

Bodwad, Erandol, Jalgaon and Parola Panchayat reservations:
District administration yesterday conducted a draw of Panchayat committee head post reservations. Jalgaon, Parola, Erandol and Bodwad Panchayat have now been reserved for Ladies. District's 15 Panchayat committees tenure is ending on 13th September 09. New reservation has SC -2 (One Ladies), ST - 1, OBC - 4 (One Ladies) and Ladies - 2 open seats.

Jalgaon's six selected as National Marathon referee:
Jalgaon district Athletics association 6 members have been selected as referee to State association and Thane Marathon trust jointly conducted national marathon on 12th July at Thane. This includes Rajesh Jadhav as technical officer, Pravin Patil as Assistant referee, Prof. Vijay Patil, National Player Bhagwan Koli, Ulhas Thakre and Nilesh Patil as referee.

Vikhran lake water turns bubbles following lightning:

Erandol Taluka based Tapi - Girana irrigation project based lake near Padmalaya is generating bubbles since yesterday night following lightning fall in lake. This lake had mere 10% water yesterday morning. Lightning fall, bubble rising and then water getting hot bubble effect have turned curiosity to villagers. Lake is full of water following raining and district soil survey authorities would examine details aspect of this reason of bubbling and water turning hot.

Hatnur dam 20 gates opened:
Rain pouring continues in Yaval, Erandol and Pachora Taluka and Jalgaon city on Tuesday night and Wednesday. This has led to flooding in Tapi and Purna Rivers causing sharp water level increase in Hatnur dam. Authorities have opened up 20 gates of dam to control this rise. Water increase in Tapi River would lead to ease water woes of many villages. Anjani River flowing in Erandol Taluka also had flooding following raining in all villages and places. Erandol has recorded 199mm raining by now while Pachora has 103mm raining and Yaval had 127mm raining. Two days raining had Erandol on top and Yaval on lowest in terms of rainfall.

Administration has already raised alerts to villagers living on banks of River for this.

Administration to publish proof electoral roll today:
District administration is publishing proof photo identity based electoral roll today as per new assembly structure. It is also conducting special drive to include new names. Those having objections/ issues related to their name printed/ photo published can submit complaints from 07th until 22nd July with 05th August as date of hearing and 20th August as printing and 25th August as final list publication. Special drive dates are 11, 12, 18, 19th July for new names inclusion.

Monsoon raining continues for third day - Flooding in Titur and Aner Rivers:

Monsoon rain showers continued for third consecutive day in whole district. Chalisgaon, Bhadgaon and Pachora Taluka had heavy raining leading to flooding to Titur River. Hated and Bhardu in Chopda witnessed cyclonic winds followed by snowing for around 15 minutes. Aner River also had first flooding of this season. Jalgaon city and industrial area had raining for around one hour.

Khandesh region senior College professors on common leave today:
Khandesh region's all college professors are undergoing one day common leave today to emphasise on their prolonged demands. Protest leave has been called by Northern MUCTO association with warning note of intense measures if demands not considered further.
Demands include cancellation of partial pension scheme and implement old pension scheme, cancelling government GR having SE/ NET as eligibility norm for professors joined in period from 19th September until 04th April 2000 and implement 6th Pay commission payments from 01st January 2006 as per Chaddha community recommendation. Association has around 2,000 professor members in Khandesh.

Raining continues on second day:

Monsoon raining has begun its stylish entry in region with most of areas witnessing medium to heavy raining yesterday evening. Jalgaon city had heavy rainfall for around 1.30 hours in evening 6PM onwards. Jamner, Bodwad, Sakegaon and Amalner regions also had raining reported. Administration has issued warning notes to villagers living on banks of River.
Heavy rain showers caused water logging in lower areas of JDCC Bank Colony behind SMIT College area. City areas like Natwar Theatre Chowk, B. J. Market, district stadium front-side and Old Bombay Lodge area had water logging and drained for hours.

Election commission announces ballot based voting in Village Panchayat:
State Election Commission has announced conduct of 49 Village Panchayat based 109 members bye-election through physical ballot system on 26th July 2009. Election Commission has to store last election data for duration of 6 months from date of election while using electronic voting machines. Recent parliament elections involved full use of electronic voting machines and therefore unavailability of machines has led to this decision. Nagar and Pune also goes on same election pattern for Panchayat term elections.

Amalner based Deepika Chavan wins Sahyadri Channel Antakshari event:
Amalner native Deepika currently getting music education at Aurangabad has won Sahyadri Marathi TV channel conducted Antakshari competition. She participated in competition from Marathwada division. Competition had participation of 8 divisions' college teams. This competition would be broadcasted soon.

ZP finances committee resolution to drop prolonged irrigation projects:
Jalgaon district council finances committee met yesterday to discuss various projects in run. It has decided to drop 10 irrigation projects of lakes and Kolhapur-type dam having already received administrative approval 15-20 years back but did not start due to technical aspects. These projects were estimated at 4 Crores during approval and have turned four times in costing as of now. As new actual costing are out of budgetary review parameters, these projects stand dropped.
Project list includes Savde (Erandol) approved in 1985, Satkheda - 1988, Katsar (Parola) - 1992, Bhoat (MuktaiNagar) - 1999, Umre (MuktaiNagar) -2003, Salshingi (Bodwad) - 2003. Most of these works got derailed following land acquisition related complexities. It has provisions 5 Crores for irrigation works in this year and has also decided to send 100 Crores roads and irrigation development demands under Khnadesh development fund.

Railway budget 2009 fades Khandesh hopes:
Khandesh region hoping of likely announcements of Dhule - Chalisgaon - Mumbai new train, New shuttle train in Bhusawal - Mumbai route, fund allocation for Dhule - Indore and Solapur - Jalgaon railway line have faded. Yesterday announced railway budget has no mention on any of region's prolonged demands of amenities and railway halts.

Nahata Bank plans merger with Cosmos bank:

Sushilkumar Nahata bank having head quarters at Bhusawal has announced its plan to merge with Cosmos bank seeing future banking industry trends. Bank has earned profits in last financial year and has called special meeting of its share holders today to discuss this proposed merger. Cosmos bank has 103 years co-operative movement. A year Bank Jalgaon merchant's co-operative bank initiated its move to merge with Ahmednagar co-operative bank but the attempt still is in process as both have not received RBI green signal following compliance of documents and norms for the same.

District's 40% land still awaiting good raining for cultivation:
Jalgaon district farmers have harder time this season with delayed monsoon raining. District has received mere 8% raining by this time and as a result almost 40% of irrigable land still lying un-cultivated. District's dams are reaching lowest and zero marks. Region now look forwards to good heavy raining to escape of woes.

Cyclonic winds and raining in Sakegaon (Bhusawal):
Bhusawal Taluka witnessed heavy raining yesterday afternoon beginning at around 4pm. Sakegaon in Taluka witnessed cyclonic winds prior to raining. D. Ed. Admission process begins today - Course renamed to D. T. Ed.:
State centralised admission of Diploma in education course is beginning from today at district institute of education and training. State board has renamed D. Ed. Course to D. T. Ed. Abbreviating it as Diploma in Teacher Education. Earlier state planned change of eligibility norms for admission took time to arrive at admission decision. State has now flex admissions on basis of H. S. C. Admission form filling continues until 11th July. Student has to have minimum of 50% for open category and 45% for reserved category in H. S. C. for qualifying to admission.

Essel group surrenders FM radio license of Jalgaon:
Essel group company Pan India Network Infravest has sought to surrender its five FM radio licenses taken in phase-2. Popularly termed Z-FM has returned licenses in Jalgaon, Akola and Nanded to the Ministry with purview of business in Maharashtra not being feasible at these locations. The group has spent around Rs 113 million approximately for acquiring these licenses in Phase-II.

Monsoon 2009 - 8% raining recorded by now:
District meteorological department has recorded 8.37% average rainfall in district by now. Yesterday raining has led to buffalo and two wheeler flowing in rain flooding. Raver Taluka has reported losses of 3 Lakhs due to Monday raining. Refer Monsoon section for detailed Taluka-wise rainfall.

Corporation submits 400 Crores development proposal to State:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has submitted a city development proposal of 400 Crores to State urban development ministry. It also discussed HUDCO and other banks taken loans due and interest aspect. Corporation aims at completing pending housing projects, street lights and gutters, dividers, footpath, special building for ward-wise committees. It also plans to enrich Walmik Nagar Park, Meer Shukrrula garden, Hemu Kalani garden and others along with development of government land under green belt. It proposes parking zone at older Sane Guruji hospital, municipal council earlier land and Khwajamiya open land and setup new fire stations at Kavya-Ratnavali Chowk, Khedi, Pimprala and Khwajamiya. Other planned activities include extending and strengthening Shivaji Nagar railway over bridge and constructing city civic centre in open space of Thakre market and strengthening and widening existing 23kms of Nala and gutter.
Full implementation of desired developmental aspects and ability to understand infrastructural needs of citizens, trade and industrial fraternity are critical challenges for Corporation. Upcoming separating of Industrial Township would equally impact city's financial health and Corporation should awake of this fact and prepare its services to boost growth.

Mahaurja to avail solar lamps for public places:
State sponsored Mahaurja project is availing solar lighting systems to public places through Village Panchayat. Scheme aims at facilitating rural students for light supply for education during load shedding and would avail daily 4 hours lights in evening. State has sponsored 90% of unit cost of Rs. 26,290 and village Panchayat has to pay on 2,929 to get this unit. Scheme is available for Panchayat office, social and public community halls, ZP schools and would be routed through block development office to agricultural office of ZP.
