31st December:
State announces Cess implementation from 01st April:

Maharashtra State government yesterday announced implementation of cess tax as replacement to Octroi with effect from 01st April 2010. Implementation will be from 01st June for Corporations having Octroi tender ending in new financial year. This decision was announced in meeting of all D-category Corporation Commissioners and Mayors in Mumbai. State has now availed 3 month time to Corporation administrations to train its staff on registration and collection aspects. All mayors walked out of meeting with their supportive stand to continue Octroi taxing.

Cotton buying dips in regions following Gujarat attractions:
Season's cotton buying is evoking lower response by farmers to government and private buying here. Farmers in region are getting good rates at neighbouring Gujarat offering good rates. Most of farmers are expecting around Rs. 3,500 rate and as a result are in sort of holding mode for selling. Gujarat buyers are offering Rs. 50-100 additional rates to current rates.

Bhusawal to witness 5 poets birth centenary:
Bhusawal literary fond members have organised to conduct birth centenary celebrations of five poets in Marathi literary on 02nd January 2010. Event will have literary discussions, poems and many likely activities. Poets include B. C. Mardekar, B. B. Borkar, N. G. Deshpande, G. L. Thokal and singer G. N. Joshi.

Swami Narayan temple 'Pran-Pratishtha' festivity in Amalner:
Swami Narayan temple anniversary and Ghanshyam Maharaj idol 'Pran-Pratishtha' festivity is being conducted on Sunday, 03rd January at Amalner. Festivity includes wide ferry in city and various religious enchanting from 9AM onwards. Temple is second after Mumbai having Ghanshyam Maharaj idol. Khandesh region now has 19 Swami Narayan temples.

Gold and silver rates eases:
Gold and silver are witnessing sudden downfall in rates. Gold rates reduced by Rs. 200 per 10gm to close at 17,200 yesterday wherein silver reduced by 300 to close at 29,000. Both marked historic high of Rs. 18,000 and 30,000 in recent fortnight.

30th December:
Meeting on cess implementation today:

State urban development ministry is conducting a meeting today at Mumbai to discuss implementation of cess tax as replacement to Octroi tax. It has called all 'D' category Corporation Mayors and Commissioners and would discuss how-to of implementation. State earlier announced this collection from 01st January 2010 and has not availed any homework and documentary aspects by now to Corporations. As a result Corporation administrations are finding it harder to evaluate and implement.

Rain showering in various areas of district:

Bhusawal city, Bodwad, MuktaiNagar, Raver and Erandol witnessed sudden showering during 9.30PM to 10PM in night. This led to power outage for around one hour and increased frosting in climate.

District municipal councils committee heads election on 01st and 02nd January:
Jalgaon district administration has issued notices to all municipal councils excluding Jamner to conduct special meeting to elect its various committee heads on 01st and 02nd January 2010. District's 12 councils committee heads tenure is ending shortly. Dharangaon municipal council special meeting would be conducted on 06th January to elect its council president.

DRDO conducted self-employment and small savings groups exhibition:

Jalgaon district rural development organisation is conducting self-employment and small savings groups prepared items exhibition in Jalgaon from 01st January 2010 under golden jubilee rural employment scheme. Exhibition is at G. S. Ground from 01st until 05th and has around 100 stalls.

29th December:
Shimpi community State youth introduction meet in Jalgaon:

Shri Saint Namdev multi-purpose trust is conducting state wide youth introduction meet in Jalgaon on 24th January at Bal Gandharva open theatre. Even would have widespread discussions on forming confederation for community weaker section, availing insurance benefits to workers from community, inaugurating community website along with initiating of annual Saint Namdev award. It would post its demands for publishing postal ticket on Saint Namdev, marking Saint Namdev birth place Narsibamani as national heritage, request for initiating one rupee coin in his name and starting new train from Pandharpur to Amritsar named Saint Namdev - Gurunanak express.

28th December:
Citizens demand alternate road for highway crossing:

Increasing number of accident cases, large traffic and higher life loses have made Jalgaonities put forward their demand for parallel road on highway crossings. Highway crossing on Jalgaon city outskirt areas had 179 various incidences killing 54 and injuring 201. City's major residential areas have highway crossings like Shiv colony, Khote Nagar, Prabhat Chowk, Akashwani crossing, Icchadevi Crossing, Ajanta crossing and Khedi. Earlier municipal council had plans to float parallel road to highways to ease this. This parallel road process went in hung state in last decade following no political push. Jalgaon city earlier had proposal to move highways from outside city and even this plan did not execute.

NMU Youth festival begins today at Shirpur:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon annual 8th 4-days youth festival is beginning today at Shirpur in R. C. Patel Arts, Commerce and Science College. Event has Khandesh region's 104 NMU affiliated College based 1,719 students presenting their skills in 22 various arts. Event would also have presence of Marathi film world stars in inaugural and concluding ceremony.

27th December:
Goodbye 2009, welcome prosperous 2010:
Year 2009 would soon fade and dazzling and sparkling 2010 is about to come. Khandesh region witnessed many strategic, political, business and industrial developments and setbacks. Many key issues and demands like removal of Octroi tax, starting up of Jalgaon airport and triggering of business growth in region are still on rolls.

Jalgaon witnessed phenomenal growth in educational and financial sector with flooded arrival of many National/ State level organizations in both sectors. Earlier harder to find ATM centers are now widespread seen not only in city areas but in rural/ Tahsil areas also. Existing established private and national banks spread their wings through branches extension and enhancing their grips.
Presence of North Maharashtra University along with good geography has enhanced educational segment manifold. Jalgaon now has highest number of seats for engineering in whole Khandesh and leaves behind Nashik in the reference. Schooling education is in revolutionary phase with national giants like Poddar group marking their presence here.

Jalgaonities continue to mark their shining performance in sports and academics. HSC 2009 score went up to 84.43% with many of its students in top 50 in Nashik division.  District's sporting hub sports complex hosted many national, state and district level events and has turned to one of key resource in sporting and allied activities. Chopda's 16 year student Vipin Borole had completed Mount Everest expedition by reaching 17,500 height base camps in mere 3 days & claimed for being world's youngest achiever along with fastest expedition in 3 days records.

Cultural and social events front witnessed conduct of various mega events like Zee Marathi conducted Sare Gama Little Champs, 3-days international film festival by Club Vasundhara and like events. City's one of privileged pilgrimage centre Dada Wadi had Bhagyavardhan Lord Parshwanath temple 'Pran-Pratishtha' ceremony.

Governance front witnessed waive and desire for transparency and speedy processing through more of implementation of technology. Voters' supportive dedicated electoral roll assistance call center followed E-Democracy project with initiative to offer instant registration of grievance and taking it to resolution. Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation floated JMTU "Ecobus" turned one of most liked public service with enthusiastic passenger response. Jalgaon's politicians marked their experience in State politics with appointment as State leader of opposition and State minister. This would push equal and speedy attention to district's various issues on State level and help in catalyzing overall growth.

Governance surrounds woes and laze for speedy processing and political influence. Jalgaon district's fate has always been negative in this front with its mostly elected leader's opposition party coming in rule. Speedy completion of Jalgaon airport, immediate solution to most sensitive co-operative societies locked fixed deposits worth 600 Crores, instant State attention to remove Octroi tax to help region regain its wholesale trade charm, enhancement in electricity services with private party distribution are a few of hot demands on roll here.

Tapi-Thadi festivity begins today:
The 3-days long NABARD and Jainshikshan trust Chopda jointly conducted Tapi-Thadi festivity is beginning from today. This is second year of this festivity and organisers expect hefty participation in eve organised in Mahatma Gandhi Shikshan Mandal College campus with warm welcoming gate on Yaval road facing. Festivity has around 300 stalls which includes women small savings groups, agriculture related exhibitions and would remain open every day from 4PM until 10PM with various cultural events in parallel run. Festivity's key attractions include variety of Khandesh based cultural events like Povada, Lavani, Bhilavu and Tingari alike events and wide participation of new artist faces.

Ajanta caves turns tourist hub on weekend:
Weekend added with Christmas vacations have flooded tourist inflow in Ajanta caves in last two days. Thousands of tourists across nation and international tourist visited caves on Friday and Saturday. This is peak inflow of tourists in this season.

Dr. Bhavarlal Jain wrote biography publication tomorrow:
Jain group of industries Jalgaon founder and chairman Dr. Bhavarlal Jain wrote biography ‘Seamless synchrony' is being inaugurated and published on Monday, 28th December in an ceremony at Ravindra Natya Mandir Mumbai in presence of various dignitaries.  It covers his life journey from being a small farmer family member to renowned industrialist and memories and instances with wife Kantabai Jain on timely support and uplifting at various states in life.

Jalgaon players in State roll ball skating team:
Jalgaon skating school players Aditya Khachane and Komal Sonawane have been selected in State team to participate in National inter-school roll ball skating competition at Pune from today. Both qualified for selection from victory through divisional team in under-19 qualifier matches at Kalyan.

26th December:
Weather chills - mercury falls to 7.5 degrees:

Season's best chilling experience is being witnessed throughout region. Jalgaon city yesterday had 7.5 degrees while Nashik had 8.5 degrees and neighbouring Dhule on same lines. Increased frosting has led to chilling nights and morning time. Temperature stabilises during afternoon time and such chilling along with heating in noon time has raised chronic diseases.

State Electricity distribution Company to franchise its Jalgaon operations:

Maharashtra State Electricity distribution Company has announced distribution franchising of few of its Jalgaon operations following mounting distribution losses. It has floated bid for 62 theft-prone transformers of Jalgaon district and is in process to take it further. District's few areas have above 60% distribution losses. This experiment would likely reduce distribution losses burden billed to other paying consumers. Amongst other experiments include distribution of electricity bills through small savings ladies group.

District science exhibition results announced:
District level 35th science exhibition results have been announced. Bendale High School Raver project 'Agri thrilled water user' and K. Narkhede School Bhusawal project 'Red E-Meter' have won first prize in district level. Prize categories included district level Science exhibition, rural areas, population and youth oriented education, secondary division, instruments for teachers and lab assistance instruments.

25th December:
Administration urges State for banana processing related setup:
Jalgaon district administration has prepared its review report and action plan for coming year. This includes request to State government to set up Banana processing related food processing units like banana winery and banana juice units. Jalgaon has well established identity for banana produces throughout India and setting up such units would catalyse segment growth and avail good employment opportunities. It further urges marking such units as small scale industry and priority area declaration for it to avail NABARD credits. Central food and technology research institute Mysore has this processing system and State intervention could easily avail such systems to Jalgaon.

Sane Guruji story series begins today in Chalisgaon:
All India Sane Guruji Story series 44th annual 3-days convention is beginning today at Chalisgaon Rashitrya College campus. Event would begin with ferry and children meet in morning followed by various stories from authors which includes various stories and discussions based on Sane Guruji philosophy. This follows board meeting and general meeting.

Jalgaon Janata Bank term election voting today:
Jalgaon Janta Co-operative Bank is undergoing its term board of directors election today. There are 17 seats and out of this 6 have been declared unopposed. Voting is at 34 centres in Jalgaon, Nashik, Thane, Nandurbar, Aurangabad and Dhule and there are 12 candidates in fray for 11 seats. Bank has 35,711 members and counting is on 26th December.

NMU conducted international conference in polymer technology:
North Maharashtra University department of Chemical technology and Pune polymer society are jointly conducting two days international conference on 'Recent advances in Polymer technology' in NMU from 28th December. Yaval agricultural produces marketing committee is undergoing its 5-years term election on 14th February 2010. Nomination filling begins today and ends on 07th January followed by scrutiny on 11th and last date of withdrawal as 27th January and completes with final listing publication on 29th January. There are 19 seats with 11 farmer representatives and various categories as per norms.

District administration connects 15 Taluka through video conferencing:

Jalgaon district administration has connected 15 Taluka in district through Video conferencing under e-governance project 'E-Maha Seva' of State Government. This links all Taluka to Maha-Network for direct access to Collectorate, divisional revenue Collectorate and State secretariat for direct communication. This service network would be extended further to villages based on stage-1 response and Taluka level implementations.

24th December:
Mercury melts down again:
Region is witnessing significant weather change again. Temperature has drastically fallen below 10 degrees and has touched 7.8 degrees yesterday. This is season's lowest temperature in Jalgaon as per reports from Mamurabad meteorological department reports. This has led to chilling and frosting weather in evening times and morning.

Pratik Patil wins gold in International chess competition:
Jalgaon's junior chess hero Pratik Patil has won gold medal in under-15 Asian school chess championship. He scored 10 points in 7 rounds and second international victory after 2008 European School Chess championship. He defeated Sri Lankan player in finals.

Amalner APMC election:
Amalner agricultural produces marketing committee election is evoking huge response. Administration has received 214 applications for 18 seats yesterday being last date of filling nominations. This is likely to raise overall election spirit and tough fight for candidates.

Tapi-Thadi festivity inauguration on Sunday:
Chopda Public education trust in association with NABAD is conducting second Tapi-Thadi festivity from Sunday. Festivity key attraction is performance of traditional cultural activities in Tapi River basin areas.

Jalgaon wins general championship in labour welfare competition:
Jalgaon boys and Pune, Kolhapur girls have won State labour welfare competition championship conducted in Jalgaon. Latur won best team award. Nagpur boys and Andheri girls won runner up award.

Jalgaon's 4 players selected in State baseball team:
Jalgaon under-14 4 players have been selected in State team for National competition at Delhi from 24th until 30th December. This includes Bendale College student Swapnali Baviskar and Pranali Bhavsar in girls and L.N. school players Pritish Ramesh Patil and Ashish Rajendra Yadav. These players qualified for selection in team based on performance in State selection matches in Sindhudurg.

Khandesh banana faces jolt due to increased cold in Delhi zone:
Khandesh region banana is facing harder time to sell due to increased cold and chilling weather in Northern India. Rates have dropped by around Rs. 250 per quintal and likely to go down further and are sold at Rs. 529 per quintal now.

Mission irrigation begins in Yaval, Raver and Chopda:
Jalgaon district's Raver, Yaval and Chopda Taluka based villages have been included in national agricultural development mission for forming various farm bases for enhancements. These Taluka have witnessed sharp downfall in ground water levels in recent few years and a result of this water drifting is becoming troublesome year over year. Forming of new bases would considerably enhance water levels.

Sureshdada Jain mother Premabai Jain passes away:

Ex-Minister and region's senior politician Sureshdada Jain mother Premabai Jain expired yesterday at age 94 after prolonged illness since last few months. Her funeral procession was completed at new bungalow campus in Bambhori. Peace prayer is on Thursday, 24th December at 2PM in newly initiated Bhagyavardhan Parshwanath Jain temple in Dadawadi. May her soul rest in peace.

22nd December:
Nashik legislative council by-poll results:
Nashik legislative council by-poll votes counting process was conducted yesterday at Nashik. Sangamner based Independent candidate Dr. Sudhir Tambe has won the election by 9,823 votes. His nearest rival BJP candidate received 32,428 votes followed by NCP candidate with 22,437 votes. Votes counting witnessed BJP candidate leading in first round, NCP candidate in second round followed by independent candidate in third round continuing his winning note. He is ex-national Congress member and rebelled party for this election.

NMU languages department conducted 3-days workshop on drama play:
North Maharashtra University languages department conducted and State literary and cultural Mandal conducted 3-days workshop on drama new artists is beginning from today. Event has guest lectures from various dignitaries in the field.

State debating competition at Shendurni:
Shendurni college conducted State level debating competition ended on Sunday with Nagar based New Arts College winning first rank followed by Jamner college getting second rank. Competition was on 'Regional and language differences hurting national integrity'. Competition had participation of 13 teams and first prize was of Rs. 4,001 and second prize of Rs. 3,001/-

21st December:
ZP general body meet review:
Jalgaon district council general body met on Saturday to discuss various projects. It has approved buying of new hand pumps worth Rs. 21 Lakhs to tackle water shortages and related programmes at 190 locations in district. It also approved buying new vehicle for finance officer, special fund of Rs. 10 Lakhs for development of Rural development Bhavan and various instruments, amenities for primary health centres.

State level quiz contest at Chalisgaon:
Chalisgaon arts, science and commerce college is conducting two days State level science quiz contest from 22nd December at Chalisgaon. This is 17th year of this institution and hence it has announced Rs. 2,000, memento and moving trophy for first, Second award includes Rs. 1,500, certificate and memento, third prize of Rs. 1,000, certificate and memento and Rs. 500 as consolation prize. Suryodaya Mandal has called for State level nomination to third literary award for year on eve of its 7th anniversary. 20th December:
State dwell its stand on cess implementation:
Maharashtra State government has planned to cancel Octroi taxing by replacing it with local level cess tax implementation. It further plans to put amendment in law for cancelling Octroi in coming budget. It has also availed deadline of 20th February 2010 all Corporations to arrive at decision thereof for this implementation. This deadline announcement has raised questions on likely implementation of this new tax with effect from 01st January 2010. This sudden change in State strategy has raised questions in trader community and there are no clear guidelines by Government on the same.

Unseasoned raining hits more than Fayan in Parola Taluka:
Parola Taluka witnessing snowing and raining for around 90 minutes two days back is finding it harder to recover. Its agriculture and cultivation on around 3,000 hectares has damaged as a result of this snowing and raining. Farmers have estimated this loss more than that caused by last month's Fayan' effect. District Collector visited Taluka yesterday and has announced assessment of all crops in whole Taluka and getting special compensation. Neighbouring Dhule is at equal hit with this snowing and raining and losses estimation are going on here.

19th December:
Cess tax implementation - Corporation mayors meet on 22nd December:

All 15 D-Category Municipal Corporation Mayors, standing committee heads are meeting in Malegaon on 22nd December 2009 to discuss their stand on newly announced Cess tax. This meet would decide fate of implementation of this new tax. Most of Corporation ruling members are in mind set to continue with cash generating Octroi tax and not to implement Cess and becoming State grants dependent.

Nashik divisional graduates constituency by poll - 44% voting:
Nashik divisional legislative council graduates constituency undergone polling yesterday at 303 booths. In a 93,997 voters out of 113,580 exercised their voting in North Maharashtra region. This included Nashik on top with most of voters. Jalgaon district had 42.04% voting with 13,745 out of 32,695 voters exercising their right. Vote counting is on 21st December at Nashik.

Railways announces 2743/44 Surat - Puri weekly new train from 20th December:
Railways have initiated 3 new trains to control additional rush during festive season. This includes permanent weekly train 2743/44 Surat - Puri express along with Dadar - Nanded and Mumbai Nagpur express. 2743 Puri - Surat express halts Jalgaon every Monday at 9.30PM and down Surat - Puri Express having halts every Tuesday at 2.50PM. The 0215 CST Mumbai - Nagpur special train is temporary train.

Jalgaon district administration participates in The Manthan Awards Asia 2009:
Jalgaon district administration has filed its nomination for annual the Manthan Awards 2009 for its newly initiated E-Democracy project on E-Governance pattern. District's newly started and widely publicised E-Lokshahi (E-Democracy) project features were presented by District Collector in the event yesterday. Administration earlier received award from CSI Pune for E-governance services offered.

18th December:
Snowing and raining shakes Khandesh:

Khandesh region witnessed sudden rain showering, snowing on Wednesday and Thursday at many locations. Dhule, Sakri and Parola along with Amalner and Erandol have witnessed snowing severely damaging standing crops. Some areas had showering which would benefit standing cotton crop. Jalgaon district witnessed sudden winds flow followed by raining yesterday evening around 7PM. snowing in considerable size injured 16 people at various locations in Dhule district.
Sudden raining led to electricity outages in whole region till late nights. Parola taluka villages had around 5 inches layer of snow in medium sized lemon shape. Jalgaon city also had rain pouring for an hour around 7pm. This second round of rainfall has caused severe losses to standing crop largely in Dhule district and in some areas of Jalgaon.

Dombivali Urban co-operative Bank inaugurates its Jalgaon branch today:
Jalgaon banking business is at shining state with State's another large business operating Mumbai based Dombivali urban co-operative bank opening its Jalgaon branch today. Dombivali bank has 31 branches in State and is scheduled bank with around 1,400 Crores deposits, around 800 Crores loans and 18 Crores of net profit in last year operations. Bank has received RBI approval for opening Khopoli, Jalgaon and Nagpur branches. Bank's Jalgaon branch is located on Bank Street in Navi Peth and is promising of good customer services ahead.

District Police initiates drive to remove citizen's panic:
Jalgaon district Police has initiated its socialisation to ease citizens from panic of large numbers of house-lifting in recent time. Dozing State officials are yet to send GR to respective Corporations to initiate implementation and evaluate legal framework for the same. Tax rates for cess collection are equally confusing. Ahmednagar bank denies Jalgaon merchant bank merger:
Ahmednagar urban co-operative bank having taken Jalgaon merchant co-operative bank for merger has denied its plans to go ahead after a span of 15 months. This has raised questions to around 7,000 shareholders and depositors having Crores of deposits with this bank. Jalgaon milk union has announced increase in milk buying rates with effect from today as a special compensatory measure for setting off increased animal feed cost due to 'Fayan' and sudden unseasoned rainfall. There would be no change in sales rates. New buffalo milk buying rate would be Rs. 21 per litre for 7 fat, 9 SNF milk and 13.20 for 3.5 Fat, 8.5 SNF cow milk. Lower sugarcane productivity impacts sugar produces:

This seasons irregular raining followed by lower manpower availability is impacting overall sugarcane yield in this season. Madhukar sugar factory Faizpur has processed mere 46,900 metric tonnes of sugarcane in 32 days by now. It has produced 38,875 quintals of sugar from this processing. Factory has estimated and witnessed around 40% reduction in inflow of sugarcane this season. Last year it offered 1,100 per quintal rate and is now desperately looking for more alternative resources for buying sugarcane from neighbouring zones.

Cotton Corporation of India announcement to enter in open markets has raised private parties buying rates for cotton. Gujarat traders increased buying has also caused pickup in demand. Private buyers were earlier offering Rs. 2,600 per quintal during Dasra Muhurat trade and State buying opening at Rs. 2,850 caused pressure. 8 new gates on Hatnur dam:

Tapi River flooding many a times leads to water logging in villages on bank of River. District administration has initiated work for 8 new gates for Hatnur dam water based on earlier conducted Gole committee report on this water logging aspect. This dam is located in Bhusawal taluka on Tapi River and witnesses' dam back water logging into neighbouring villages causes huge losses to agriculture and villagers.
Region had witnessed huge losses due to this water logging in 1978 and this committee was appointed after this losses. State has recently granted this committee suggestion implementation and has availed funds for the same. This work won't alter existing dam structure and would begin adjacent to current gates of dam. It would later connect these 8 gates to existing dam to balance back water flow during flooding.

CCI cotton buying at 10 centres in Khandesh:
Cotton Corporation of India has initiated 10 cotton buying centres in Khandesh. Last year it collected around 90,000 quintals of cotton from region and offered 2,850 per quintal rate. State drama competition - Jalgaon-B centre result announced:
49th State Marathi Drama competition Jalgaon-B centre result has been announced. Agrawal Institute of Management Chalisgaon artists performed 'Ek Chocolate Premache' play won first prize followed by Samuday urban co-operative society run 'Are Sahakar Sahakar' winning second and Pancham played 'Viprit' won third prize. 'Are Sahakar' artists Manjusha Bhide and Prakash Baviskar won best acting awards. Jalgaon-B centre had total 21 plays from 21st until 30th November and qualifying team is now eligible for State competition.

Bahinabai Chaudhari based info-documentary:
'Bahinai', a short documentary focussing rural areas women life was presented yesterday in Jalgaon in an inaugural ceremony at JDCC Bank Hall. Bahinabai Chaudhari charitable trust presented and Jain Charities sponsored movie has been directed by Atul Pethe with music from Dr. Ashok Jondhle and singer Asha Jondhle. The 40 minutes presentation outlines life of Bahinabai, her poetic essence and struggle and approach towards life in-spite being not educated. This documentary would now be broadcasted on Television channel 'Star Majha' today afternoon at 4pm.

02nd December:
Seventh ground water level review - Chopda, Yaval and Raver still in critical condition:

District soil survey department has recently finished seventh review of district ground water level and has sent same to State for approval. This survey suggests exclusion of Pachora from dark zone as per last year review. It further quotes still critical state for Chopda, Yaval and Raver taluka. Monsoon rainfall enhanced water levels and amount of water drift from has made this critical state.
It has classified district into 66 irrigable zones and has 9 critical (above 100% water levels shortage), 2 above 90% water level short, 17 partially water short and 38 safer irrigable zones. The critical zones and above 90% zones include most from Raver, Yaval and Chopda and partial ones have Pachora locations. Raver taluka's 64 out of 110 (58.18%), Yaval's 58 out of 91 (63.13%) and Chopda's 21 out of 113 (18.58%) are in critical state.

Lord Datta festivity at Sarangkheda:
Khandesh famous one-faced Lord Datta festivity at Sarangkheda on banks of Tapi River has begun from yesterday. First day witnessed huge rush of devotees. Festivity has key attraction of horses' auction in large number. This year auction has around 1,300 horses arrived for auctioning.

State orders implementation of Cess tax from 01st January 2010:
Maharashtra State government has ordered all 15 D-category Corporations to implement cess tax system by replacing Octroi taxing with effect from 01st January 2010. Traders associations have urged Corporation to implement the same at earliest without any further obstacles. Corporation general body has already passed resolution not to implement this tax and continue with Octroi tax if State does not grant 100% Octroi equivalent grant. State is yet to answer this resolution.

Corporation Mayor and ZP president election unopposed:

Jalgaon district council president, vice-president and Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation Mayor have been elected unopposed yesterday. BJP candidate Smita Uday Wagh from Janve - Mangrul (Amalner) has been appointed as new ZP President and Shivsena leader Jankiram Rangrao Patil from Salva - Sakre (Dharangaon) have been elected unopposed. Khandesh and Shahar Vikas Aghadhi nominee Pradeep Raisoni has been elected as City Mayor.
Jalgaonities have hopes from newly elected candidates for better development and organised efforts for district's overall growth. Corporation has around 283 Crores debt burden and systemised need of city growth and development demands along with ZP key challenge to catalyse region's growth and penetrate central and state funds to end-points. ZP has first-ever witnessed Woman president.

Jalgaon boys and Pune girls have won 4th State baseball competition played at Solapur. Amravati and Solapur won runner up award in respective category. Jalgaon defeated Amravati by 3-1. Solapur secured third rank by defeating Mumbai sub-urban by 3-1.
