31st December:
Goodbye 2008 - welcome 2009:

Year 2008 is ending today with many a new development on various fronts in district and region. Many a questions and developmental aspects are still in question state for this year. Year began with Khandesh daughter Her Excellency Pratibhatai Patil visiting Jalgaon and holding Jalgaonities hopes on higher levels. Jalgaon airport, express highway and many other developments looked alike rays of hope for region.
Traders were messed and pained with announcement of Cess without any ground preparation at Corporation levels. Trade association demands got no State appraisal and political backup resulting in State throwing googly by applying Octroi tax again. Local level taxes removal as promised during VAT implementation has not yet received any attention at State level and traders are likely to witness same amount of pain in upcoming financial year.
District's over 400 Crores deposits made with co-operative societies and banks has failed. This has trigger deep recession and cash crunch in region. None of political party has shown interest in bringing back this hard earned money kept in safe deposits. Dozing co-operative department bureaucracy finds no escapes and pathway to depositors.

Ajanta caves witness increasing inflow of tourists:
World heritage Ajanta caves are now having higher inflow of Indian and foreign tourists. Aurangabad district Police has beefed security in caves region and set up wireless unit for instant communication at Ajanta and Fardapur along with metal detectors. Caves remain open throughout week with Monday as its weekly holiday while Ellora caves remain closed only on Tuesday irrespective of holidays.

Dhule and Nandurbar district council president election:
Dhule district council has got chairing presidency of BJP and Shivsena alliance after 48 years. Alliance won voting by 29 to 26 votes in 55 seats ZP. Shivsena candidate was elected for President Post while BJP candidate won deputy post.
NCP has grabbed both President and Deputy Posts keeping ruling Congress away from power after decades of ruling. NCP won 33 votes to opposition Congress candidate winning 20 votes.

Eklavya cricket team wins State T-20 cricket competition:
Eklavya Cricket academy has won State T-20 Cricket competition by defeating Amravati in finals. Competition had cash prize of Rs. 21,000 to team. Eklavya scored 139 runs in designated 20 over by batting first. This included Imran Pathan scoring 53 along with Sameer Shah with 22 and Abrar chipping 18 runs. Amravati made strong fight back and scored 136 runs. Eklavya bowler Ninad took three wickets while Kiran Jadhav took one wicket.

30th December:
Mercury chills - down to 6.5 degree centigrade:

Meteorological department has reported increasing chill in whole Khandesh zone. Jalgaon city yesterday had 8.7 degree centigrade temperature while early morning temperature falls to 6.5 degrees. Cold waves are progressing towards this region and this is likely to dip mercury further.

Jalgaonities cheer up for 31st celebration:
Jalgaon region is gearing up for New Year arrival and celebration. Many a hotels have set up New Year Dhamaka and Thirty-First night events to celebrate with family. This year has special focus on availing vegetarian food in many hotels along with home delivery service.

JDCC Bank extends crop loan limits:
Jalgaon district's apex co-operative bank JDCC Bank has announced extension of loan limits for crop loans for this season. Newly elected body's first meet has resolved to avail Rs. 1,500 - 5,000 per acre additional loans in this season. It has set fresh targets of additional 200 Crores to last year loans availed. It discussed 34 different topics on its agenda.

DPDC elections - 28 candidates from rural section unopposed:
Jalgaon district planning and development committee district council rural constituency election has 28 candidates elected unopposed. Both NCP and Congress I withdrawn their candidates to arrive at first ever consensus state for DPDC. Administration would publish final candidate listing today and voting is on 14th January.

Maharashtra roll ball skating team wins gold:
Maharashtra boys and girls have won gold in all India roll ball skating competition conducted at Trivandrum in Kerala. Maharashtra girls have defeated Jammu and Kashmir girls by 3-5 while boys defeated Jammu and Kashmir by 6-4. State mixed team lost to Jammu and Kashmir team by 11-7. Maharashtra girls' team had Jalgaon's Riddhi Bhandari and Taslim Azad showing exceptional performance.

29th December:
Authorities' gets go ahead for Haripura dam:

State forestry department has cleared availing 65 hectares land for proposed Haripura dam on Hadkai River in Yaval taluka. State Irrigation department has now set target of blocking water in temporary sand bridges by June. Forestry department would get compensation with land on eastern side of taluka and 40.32 Lakhs funds for cultivation of new forestry. Current land has around 3,000 trees, which would be cut down to construct this dam.
This dam process initiated in 1994 and estimated as sand bridge five years ago at mere five Crores. New estimate has 21 Crores cost estimated for 41 meters height and 220 meters depth. It would benefit 564 hectares land with ample water for cultivation and has storage capacity of 212CFT. It has received final approval on 12th December 2008.

Leva Gujar community State Youth Introduction Meet review:
Leva Gujar community trust conducted its State youth introduction meet yesterday in Jalgaon. Meet had participation of youths from all across State. Meet has published Youth directory 2008 as ready reference for marriages. It has also passed resolutions to avoid unnecessary expenditure in engagements and marriages, avoid divisions of farms and houses in rural areas, focus and expedite more on education, connect Taluka associations with district units and avail career guidance to community students.

District exporting Ladyfinger to UK:
Jalgaon district has wide cultivation and produces of ladyfinger in Dharangaon, Erandol, Amalner and Parola. This Ladyfinger is sold throughout India and has ample export demands to UK. Around 100 farmers have come together to initiate exports. Khandesh has around 10,000 hectares land under Ladyfinger cultivation and opening up of export has led to good profits for farmers and producers.

Kolhapur and Pune wins State Kabbadi competition:
Kolhapur boys and Pune girls have won 35th State Kabbadi competition conducted in Jalgaon on G. S. Grounds. Kolhapur defeated Thane by 5-9 while Pune defeated Mumbai sub-urban team by 21-8. Sangli boys defeated Ratnagiri by 25-12 to secure third rank in competition. Mumbai girls won on Satara by 24-15 to get third rank.

State Kabbadi team - Jalgaon's 3 players selected:
35th State Kabbadi competition ended yesterday in Jalgaon with selection of State team for national competition. State girls' team has Jalgaon player Monali Dahibhate and Shweta Sonawane along with boys' team taking Jalgaon's Nilesh Patil. Jalgaon's Anand Mahagade has been selected as Manager for State boys' team.

Kotecha lecture series in Bhusawal from 11th until 13th January:
Mahavir Kripa educational cultural and sports academy and Kotecha trust jointly conducted 9th lecture series would be conducted from 11th until 13th January 2009 in Bhusawal. This year series has film Actress Alka Kubal on 'Majhi Abhinay Yatra', retired Police IG Arvind Inamdar on terrorism and comedy actor Dilip Khanna with comedies.

28th December:
Mercury dips down further - chilling waves beat morning:

Entire region is witnessing arrival of chilling cold waves dipping down mercury to almost 7.5 degree centigrade during nigh times. This has led to sharp increase in cold waves in early morning and restarting in later evening. Currently daytime temperature is at around 32-33 degree centigrade and there is warmth in afternoon times.

State Kabbadi competition ends today:
Krida Rasik sports club conducted state Kabbadi competition is ending today. Yesterday matches had host Jalgaon getting defeated by Satara by 29-20. Mumbai sub-urban and Pune girls along with Thane and Kolhapur boys have entered into finals of competition winning their respective group matches. Prize distribution ceremony is at evening 5PM.

27th December:
State Kabbadi competition - Selection committee to announce team tomorrow:

Krida Rasik sports club conducted state Kabbadi competition is in full pace with every district team applying its best efforts to qualify. Selection committee would select 20 players and final 12 for State team to play in national competition. Jalgaon girls have qualified for quarterfinals whole Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar boys have moved out.
Today's boys category matches are Mumbai Vs Ratnagiri, Raigad Vs Kolhapur, Sangli Vs Satara and Thane Vs Mumbai Sub-urban. Girls' matches are Jalgaon Vs Satara, Kolhapur Vs Mumbai City, Sangli Vs Mumbai Sub-urban and Pune Vs Thane.

Jalgaon wrestlers selected for State competition:
Pilkhod (Chalisgaon) based Anil Yadav, Altaf Shaikh and Hemant Shirsath have qualified for State competition by winning divisional competition conducted at Nagardeola. Anil would play in 74kg, Altaf and Hemant in 84kg category.

26th December:
Jagganath Maharaj honoured with Khandesh Bhushan Award:

Leva community has honoured HBP Jagganath Maharaj Anjalekar with its first Khandesh Bhushan Award. Award ceremony had participation of people from all communities and various fields. Ceremony had procession in beginning to mark this honour.

State Kabbadi competition inaugurated:
Krida Rasik sports club and district Kabbadi association jointly conducted State Kabbadi competition was inaugurated yesterday. Host Jalgaon girls team defeated Sindhudurg by 13 points while Satara defeated Jalgaon boys in another match. Kolhapur girls defeated Nanded by 81 points making grand victory. Both category matches have 6 groups each with 4 teams. Competition has attracted large number of students from region and spectator galleries were full for whole day.

Krishi Bharti exhibition in January:
State Krishak community conducted annual Krishi Bharti exhibition is being conducted from 09th until 12th January 2009 at G. S. Ground in Jalgaon. This is fourth consecutive year of exhibition in Jalgaon. This exhibition would have 10-12 stalls of farming, farm equipments, fertilisers, pesticides and women small savings group stalls along with micro businesses.

Jalgaon boys qualify for super league in under-14 cricket:
Jalgaon boys continued their phenomenal performance in ongoing under-14 MCA cricket competition and defeated Ambitious club Pune by 283 runs. With this victory, it has now achieved 16 points by winning all 4 group matches.
Jalgaon scored 168 runs in first inning and bowled out opponent in mere 50 runs. Jalgaon boys Sandeep Nikam and Jagdish Zope took 3 wickets each and Nikhil Patil and Rohit Patel took one wicket each. It scored 206 runs along with earlier 118 runs lead. This had Shiv Prasad scoring 42 runs, Rohit Patel with 35 runs, Avinash Patil scoring 33 runs and Pratik Gite scoring 27 runs. Jalgaon bowled out Pune boys on 41 runs and scored amazing victory of 273 runs. Purohit took seven wickets while Jagdish Zope bowled three.

25th December:
Merry Christmas - Festivity of love, affection and peace:

Christmas - festivity of love and peace is being widely celebrated throughout region. Region's all Churches are lighting decorated and have Christmas tree and celebrations planned. Jalgaon city has three Church namely St. Alliance Church near Head Post office, St. Francis De Sales Church behind Collector bungalow and St. Thomas Church near Mehrun Lake set up in 1998.
Bhusawal city has seven Christian Church, which includes Secret Heart and Marathi Alliance Church reflecting cross-community harmony.

JDCC bank issues onetime loan settlement issue to Corporation:
Corporation has taken aggressive stand of due JDCC Bank loan and has urged its administration to deposit half of its payment done by now in principal and avail onetime settlement to end this loan. JDCC Bank new board of directors is yet to confirm this proposal.
Corporation has taken 55 Crores loan and has net due of 61.25 Crores until now. It has demanded new due after relaxation in interest dues to close this loan. Corporation plans to raise this loan from Nationalised banks.

State Kabbadi competition inauguration today in Jalgaon:
Krida Rasik Sports Club conducted 35th boys and girls' state level Kabbadi is being inaugurated today at G. S. Ground in Jalgaon at 4PM. Competition has 24 matches on first day at 6 different grounds and ends on Sunday evening. Competition has participation of 576 players from 47 teams of various districts throughout state.

Government grains buying - 62,000 quintals grain procured:
Central government guaranteed rates grains buying is in full pace in district with 61,791 quintals of grain bought at 18 centres in district. Buying continues until 31st March 2009. This includes 45,715 quintals Jwar, 15,913 quintals corn and 162 quintals other grains.

24th December:
APMC goes down following levying charges:

Jalgaon agricultural produces marketing Committees traders went on strike yesterday following State decision to collect levy tax from buyers. This strike was support to Pune merchant chamber called strike. Strike led to no auctions and Adat in general/ grains section. Fruits and vegetables auctions had no effect of this strike.
New order has collection of levy from buyers (Adat agents) to that of earlier deduction of levy from farmers on Hamali and weighing.

Agricultural productivity suffers from changing climate:
District agricultural authorities have estimated lower grains productivity in this season following lesser cold and cloudy climate around in region. District has wheat cultivation on 14,800 hectares. Delayed raining in last season has lowered sugarcane growth in region. Farmers earlier getting 80 tons of sugarcane are getting around 50-60 tons sugarcane per hectare. This is affecting overall productivity of sugar factories in region. Factories are witnessing slower arrival following non-ready state of crop.

District likely to have 40,000 new voters in updated electoral roll:
Jalgaon district administration is in final pace of preparations for publishing updated electoral roll on 10th January 2009. Administration expects around 40,000 Voters addition in this listing and 8,000 estimated deletion because of transfers and death. This preparation is a part of likely upcoming parliamentary election in April 2009. It has earlier published assembly electoral roll on 10th November and called for addition to listing by 24th November.

Society of media initiative for values conducted workshop:
Society of media initiative for values is conducting workshop on media research on Thursday, 25th December at Brahmakumaris Hall in Jalgaon. This would have guidance from various dignitaries in media and journalism field. It covers research aspects in media, research methodologies and proposed action plan for media research with research toolkit. Workshop has 50 seats limitation. State Kabbadi Competition preparations in final round:
Krida Rasik sports club conducted 15th State junior boys and girls Kabbadi competition preparations are in final phase. Competition begins on Friday, 25th and continues until 28th December. Competition has participation of 48 teams from whole Maharashtra excluding Vidarbha zone. Body would elect State boys and girls team from this competition results. Club has prepared 4 grounds for boys and 2 grounds for girls.

23rd December:
National conference on Modern Indian English literary and changing Indian values on 29th December:

Pratap College Amalner is conducting two days national conference on Modern Indian English literary reflecting changing Indian values from 29th December. Conference is mainly for candidates undergoing NET/ SET in English and those studying Indian English literary.

Two Polio-like patients detected in district:
District health authorities have detected two children in Ainpur (Raver) and Hingane (Jamner) with Polio-like symptoms. It has further sent samples to regional laboratory for further evaluation. This has led to chaos amongst health authorities having regularly implementing pulse polio vaccination drives.

Jalgaon's two selected in State teniquiet team:
Jalgaon district teniquiet Association players Sumedh Sanjeev Kulkarni and Pranita Bapurao Patil have been selected in State teams for sub-junior teniquiet national competition at Madurai in Tamilnadu from 23rd until 28th December.

Amruta and Anamika selected in State girls softball team:
Shanbhag school student Amruta Chandrakant Sonawane and Anamika G. Pardeshi have been selected in Maharashtra girl's team for national junior softball competition to be played at Warangal in Andhra Pradesh.

Vivek Alwani wins State senior's table tennis competition:
Jalgaon sports academy table tennis player Vivek Alwani has won individual category Senior's table tennis competition at Mumbai. He defeated Mumbai player by 11-6, 11-8 and 11-6. He has now qualified National senior table tennis competition to be played in Indore from 27th until 31st January 2009.

22nd December:
Need of public representatives special attention on dragged projects:

Jalgaon district' micro irrigation area is increasing year on year. It has seen addition of 5,103 hectares in 2006-07. Region received Khandesh package of 385 Crores for various prolonged and delayed projects. Tapi irrigation development Corporation has received booster through this package to complete pending projects and has spared 364 Crores from this fund to complete seven micro irrigation projects. This Corporation has eight medium projects, 48 micro projects and six drip projects totalling to 66 projects.
Waghur dam completion has escaped Jalgaonities of water woes. AIBP based Anjani, Daregaon, Shendurni, Adgaon, Atalgavhan and Hatgaon-1 and 2 are five micro projects submitted. Padalsare (Amalner) 40-45% work is completed with 150 Crores expenditure, Padmalaya (Erandol) project is in pace, Pimpale (Haripura - Yaval) needs attention to complete 10-12 years prolonged project. Gul (Chopda) sand dam is completed with 75 Crores expenses.

Koli community state convention ends in Jalgaon:
Koli community state convention ended yesterday at G. S. Grounds Jalgaon with 14 points resolution passed. Convention has demanded availing ST status validity certificate and cancelling caste certificate act immediately. It has further planned of stringent protest because of state failure to do so.

District Pulse polio vaccination drive today:

Jalgaon district health authorities have organised pulse polio vaccination drive today at 2,215 vaccination booths throughout district. It has set target of 418,768 vaccinations today in 0-5 age group through its dedicated force of 6,081 staffing. Polio booths are functional at Bhusawal - Manmad railway stations availing polio vaccine dose in trains. Authorities would later avail polio doses in every house from 22nd until 26th December.

Jalgaon merchant bank merger confirmed by shareholders:
Jalgaon merchant bank general body and shareholders have unanimously approved merger into Ahmednagar urban bank. Nagar bank has assured of deposits security and confident future business to all stakeholders.
Merchant bank's all branches would begin full functioning as branches of Nagar urban bank and has sent this proposal to reserve bank of India for final approval through district co-operative department approval. Jalgaon merchant bank has 25 Crores deposits and 22 Crores loan with 1.68 Crores share capital and 9.72 Crores investments.

Mercury dips down - cold waves enter region:
Northern Maharashtra has started witnessing cold waves in last two days. Mercury is dipping down and is currently at 14 degree Celsius with cold and foggy weather in early mornings. Climate is cloudy to sunny throughout day. Arrival of cold would lead to good Rubby crop.

Jalgaon DPDC last meeting on 06th January:
Jalgaon district planning and development committee is having its final meeting on 06th January 2009. District's newly inducted State cabinet minister and recently taken charged Parent Minister is chairing this meet. DPDC is undergoing election and restructured organising after its election. New structure has ZP, Corporation and council representation for focussed growth approach.

20th December:
Khandesh's first books fair from 20th December:

Khandesh region's two days first books fair is being organised at Law College grounds from today. This fair has lot variety of quality literary and books in various languages from different renowned publishers. Literary dictionary section is amongst other interesting section to visit here. There would be around 50,000 books and literary of various types.

ING Vysya bank to open Jalgaon branch:
Banking is in high times for region with yet another mega private banker ING Vysya bank opening up its Jalgaon branch shortly. It is full pace preparations to open up Jalgaon branch opposite Nutan Maratha College. ING retail banking would cater to various financial and banking solutions to retail clients. Jalgaon has HDFC, Axis (UTI), ICICI, Standard Chartered and now ING amongst national level private bankers.
Downturn witnessing co-operative sector having whopping 700 Crores deposits is key attraction to these banks in retail banking along with various financial services.

Jalgaon and Nagpur wins Sakal trophy Marathi one-play competition:
Jalgaon played 'N. N. Bhole 12, Shani Peth' one act play along with St. Urusula Junior College played 'Tai' have won Sakal trophy Marathi one-play competition conducted at Matunga in Mumbai. Jalgaon has won this trophy for first time marking golden pages in cultural drama plays arena of region. M. J. Team has earlier one Purushottam trophy in plays. N. N. Bhole 12 Shani Peth has written by Amruta Kulkarni from M. J. College and had participation of many students from college.

DPDC elections - 149 nominations valid:
Jalgaon district planning and development committee election process is in full pace. Nominations scrutiny process has completed and there are 149 nominations from 109 candidates. Administration would now announce formal listing today followed by appeals hearing on 23rd and final candidature list on 26th and 27th December. Nominations withdrawal is on 29th December and final listing publishing is on 30th December. Elections' voting is on 14th January from 8AM until 4PM and follows counting on 16th January.

Jalgaon continues winning performance in State under-14 cricket:
Jalgaon boys are giving shining performance in ongoing under-14 MCA organised cricket competition. Jalgaon yesterday defeated Pune team by eight wickets marking its third consecutive victory. It would now play its final league match versus Ambitious Club Pune on 22nd and 23rd December.
Jalgaon bowled out Next Pune on 106 runs in 65 over with Jagdish Zope chipping 5 wickets. In reply it scored 137 runs and took lead of 31 runs that included Sarosh Deshmukh scoring 37runs and Aditya Marsale scoring 26 runs.

19th December:
Corporation gets go ahead for City bus service:

Jalgaon municipal transport service has received go ahead from divisional road transport office. Proposed bus service would be on contracted basis and would have 15 routes as under:
Hari Vitthal Nagar (5.8kms), Sambhaji Nagar (5.8kms), North Maharashtra University (11kms), Pimprala Hudco (5.8kms), Pimprala (5.3kms), Supreme Colony - via Mehrun (8.7kms), Mhada Colony - via Ayodhya Nagar (7kms), Bambhori engineering college (9kms), Kusumba Naka (7kms), Shivdham temple (5.4kms), Asoda (7kms), Vidgaon road(12kms), Kanalda (12kms), Shirsoli (12kms) and Corporation administrative building round trip.
Currently state transport operated city bus stand would remain central bus stand and it aims to start this service by January end.

Jalgaon ZP general body meeting review:
Jalgaon district council (ZP) general body met yesterday to discuss various issues on its agenda. Body had discussions on road works and acute drinking water shortage in many villages. Body approved all topics on agenda. Amongst major discussions included buying TCL powder at 19.94 Lakhs, 10% funds from ZP grants to women and children welfare projects in this year.

Railways begin survey of Jalgaon - Surat railway lines doubling work:
Western railways have initiated survey of Jalgaon - Surat railway lines doubling work. This includes need of new bridges in proposed extension. Railways expect completion of this work by 2012 at estimated cost of 900 Crores. This lines doubling would enhance Jalgaon, Nandurbar and Surat connectivity and add to development of all regions. Lines doubling would also allow Jalgaon to Surat railway travel within mere 4.30 hours to that of current 7 hours. It has earlier electrified the route.

High Court issues notices to seven corporations:

Jalgaon district's 3 village Panchayat having completed their tenure along with 3 having bye-elections would undergo voting on 21st December followed by votes counting on 23rd December. This includes Panchayat from Amalner, Parola and Jamner.

Jalgaon wins on Usmanabad in MCA under-14 cricket:
Jalgaon boys have defeated Usmanabad by 5 wickets in under-14 MCA conducted cricket competition at Chinchwad Pune. It won on Hingoli in first match and now has total 8 points. It would play versus Cricket next Pune team.
Jalgaon won toss, elected to field, and bowled Usmanabad on mere 70 runs. Jalgaon bowler Sandeep Nikam took 7 wickets. In reply, it scored 116 runs taking lead of 46 runs. Mumbai high court to hear Traders plea on Octroi collection:

Traders from seven municipal Corporations including Jalgaon have filed a plea with Mumbai High Court on respective Corporations conducted Octroi collection process marking it as process initiated without completing legal framework and hence illegal. This includes Jalgaon, Akola, Amravati, Malegaon, Solapur, Kolhapur and Sangli Corporations having stopped Cess collection and restarting Octroi collection. Octroi levying process requires general body resolution followed by fixing tax rates and calling public comments and objections to arrive at decision. Plea requests interim order to cancel this and call for fresh process with all legality.

Tapi irrigation development Corporation gets 65 Crores World Bank aid:
Tapi irrigation development Corporation has received 65.60 Crores special aid from World Bank under water area reforms for Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar area's 41,784 hectares land. Corporation has planned 80 projects under this grant and has already issues orders for 32 and rest 48 are likely to execute by March-2009.
Maharashtra water reforms project aims at utilising maximum extent of existing fully functional irrigation projects thereby enhancing irrigable areas and has Hatnur dam, Panjhra medium project including 24 projects with first phase cost estimated at 65.60 Crores.

District wins two bronze in State roll ball skating competition:
Jalgaon district skaters have won one each bronze medals in state girls and mixed roll ball skating competitions at Aurangabad. Jalgaon girls won on Mumbai, Nandurbar, Thane and Aurangabad teams while mixed team won on Thane, Aurangabad and Mumbai teams.

Satpuda hills rainwater Mega recharge scheme in final technical evaluation:

Authorities are in final technical evaluation of proposed Satpuda hills rainwater to introduce mega recharge of soil water levels in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. This project is estimated at cost of Rs. 1,100 Crores and could get approval in next 6 months subjected to political willingness to ease water woes.
It target to benefit 100,000 hectares additional land in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh adjoining areas that include Jalgaon district at large in Maharashtra and Khandwa district in MP. Satpuda hills are spread in Khargaon, Khandwa, Burhanpur in MP and Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Buldhana, Akola and Amravati districts in Maharashtra. There are numerous Rivers and Nala having confluence and origin here. Most of rainwater flows through these Rivers and Nala. Project aims at stopping this water largely and recharging soils in nearby zones in its proposed four steps.
This project would have main dam at Kharia Guti near Dharani with storage dams at Navtha and canals at Nepanagar, Burhanpur, Raver, Yaval, Chopda, Shirpur to Ukai. This could further be discharge to any River originating here. It would involve larger interest of politicians from Madhya Pradesh along with to get it done.

Year 2008 - a year of cherished memories and national attraction:
Year 2008 has been a year of growth and prosperity for whole region. Inauguration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj district sports complex through auspicious hands of Her Excellency President of India. Jalgaon's Kharip productivity mixed, administration announces 'Paisewari':

Kharip season this year has been pretty mixed for Jalgaon district with mixed productivity results seen all around. Administration yesterday announced third and final phase of Paisewari (productivity) in 1,488 villages excluding that of Yaval taluka. These stats have below 50 crops Paisewari for around 1,200 below 50 Paise. Villages under 50 Paise productivity gets State benefits as and when announced from time to time.
Every village committee decides this crop Paisewari on local level and hand over to revenue zones which further submits to Tahsil offices and then to district administration. First Paisewari was announced in September, second on October end and last one on 15th December. This lower productivity is likely to affect upcoming Rubby season as well. Agricultural department has reported lower cultivation of wheat and increase of Jwar and gram.

Mehrun Ber arrives in market:
Jalgaon's one of famous eatables Mehrun Ber (Zizipus Jujuba) have arrived in large number in local markets. These fruits are taste buds of region for their unique sweet taste bud. Most of these Ber are available in Chameli, Umran, Kadga, Gola and Dogalbar types and continues in full pace until January end. This is produced in Nashirabad, Asoda, Bornar, Avhane, Mhsawad, Khedi and Kusumba areas from Jalgaon.

Dr. Patil announced as Jalgaon parent minister:
Jalgaon's newly inducted minister in State government Dr. Satish Patil has been announced as Jalgaon's new parent minister. Jalgaon is having parent ministers from outside district since last four years leading to slower or less developments. Yuvarang 2008 - Nahata College wins trophy:
North Maharashtra University level youth festival Yuvarang 2008 ended yesterday with Nahata College Bhusawal winning general first prize followed by M. J. Jalgaon District's large co-operative society consisting of government employees and staffing is entering centenary year today. Society plans to avail hefty dividend to its member shareholders and plans to have musical welcome at all of its branches. This society was established on 15th December 1909 and had mere 14 members. It has grown manifold and now has 30,930 members with share capital of 39 Crores 32 Lakhs 12,220 from 28 Rupees at opening day. It avails loan facilities to member to extent of 2.50 Lakhs.

Pune team wins debating competition:
V. V. District library conducted Atre memorial state level debating competition ended yesterday with Pune College of engineering students Aboli Patil and Harshan Chavan winning first prize along with district institute of education and training Jalgaon students Yogita Jadhav and Gangaram Narwade winning runner up in competition. First prize was Rs. 2,100/- cash prize along iwth trophy and certificates while runner up prize was Rs. 1,100/-, trophy and certificates.
This was competition's tenth year and it had participation of 16 students from eight colleges across state. Debating competition topic was "Regional politics affecting national interests".

Pratik Patil secures sixth rank and silver in team performance:
Jalgaon's junior chess player Pratik Patil has won sixth rank in ongoing Asian inter-school chess competition at Colombo. Indian team won silver in-group play.

Agri-economics - Khandesh's 7 out of 12 sugar factories running:

Khandesh region is witnessing shortages of sugarcane in this season. Region's five out of 12 factories are closed following lower or no availability of sugarcane in their regions. Madhukar sugar factory is on top of charts with 48,035 tons of sugarcane already processed and 43,850 sugar bags prepared. Shahada is on second line with 30,170 tons sugarcane processed followed by Shirpur with 20,214 tons and Chopda with 14,510 tons of sugarcane processed.

Octroi and Cess woes - association send open letter to State CM:
Jalgaon district traders' confederation has sent an open letter to State CM urging for withdrawal of Octroi and Cess taxes on grounds of no such taxes being applicable in rest 31 states and corporations. It has further shown readiness for inclusion of this tax in VAT to ease entire business process and/ or avail State grants to these 15 D-category corporation amounting to Rs. 1,000 Crores.

District's 3 co-operative banks to be wind up:

State Co-operative department directorate has ordered wind up of Jalgaon district's 3 urban co-operative banks having ceased to be solvent and got huge outstanding dues failing to repay depositors. This includes Siddhi Vyankatesh Co-operative Bank Jalgaon, Chalisgaon People's Co-operative Bank and Faizpur Janta Bank Faizpur. It has further appointed administrators for liquidification process and repaying dues of depositors thereof.

Jalgaon Merchant's Co-operative Bank to be merged soon:
Jalgaon district's Merchant's co-operative bank having co-operative department administration would soon undergo merger with Ahmednagar co-operative bank. This bank has given formal approval and would now see to Merchant Bank's General Body meeting on 20th December for formal approval to this merger.
Co-operative department dismissed bank board of directors following non-compliance of papers and appointed administrator. This led to chaos amongst depositors having withdrawn their deposits in large amount leading to liquidity troubles for bank. Administrator has already kept current and loan accounts routine transactions in blocked mode leading to chaos amongst trade community.

DPDC Election process begins from today:
Jalgaon district planning and Development Committee term election process is beginning from today. Committee has 446 voters and 40 seats for election. Nomination filling begins today and continues until 18th December followed by scrutiny on 19th December, 29th December as last day of withdrawing nominations and voting on 14th January followed by votes counting on 16th January 2009.

Central grain buying slows following non-availability of gunny bags:
Central government guarantee rates grain buying for season at district's 21 centres has slowed down following non-availability of gunny bags at centres. It has procured 33,516 quintals of grains by now which includes Jwar - 27,592 quintals, corn - 5,760 quintals and Bazra - 162 quintals.

ZP receives 1.50 Crores for rural sports development:
Jalgaon district council has received One Crore 45 Lakhs and 74,000 special funds under Panchayat Khel Abhiyan Project for promoting and availing sports facilities in rural places in district. This includes availing sports grounds at every village level, implement and develop authority for co-ordination and avail equipments accordingly for 115 villages in district.

Corporation general body meeting review:

Jalgaon city municipal corporation general body met yesterday to discuss various issues on its agenda. Body has approved decision on cess tax implementation by 01st April 2009 and extended approval for opening tender for Octroi tax collection for year 2009-2010. It has also approved construction of 50 public toilets at various locations in city. It has approved waiver of Octroi tax on medicines and fertilisers from next financial year 2009-10 and setting up of electrical or diesel unit setup at Neri Naka based crematorium.
Administration and ruling party promises of trader friendly moved have fouled with gloomy approval of continuing Octroi taxing at full rates. Traders are expecting immediate discontinuation of Octroi and cess tax and uniform tax rate at 0.25% if at all continued with any of these taxes.

Fule market shops get one-year extension:
Jalgaon city municipal Corporation general body meeting yesterday has approved extension of lease agreement of old Fule market by one-year and has announced formation of special committee to review and study new pattern of charging/ taxes for extension of old Fule market shops. Committee would present its report in few months. Administration would later announce members for this committee.

National survey organisation begins statistical collection work:

District sports council, sports authority and district softball association conducted state under-14 boys and girls softball competition was inaugurated yesterday at district stadium. Day#1 had Nashik, Latur and Kolhapur divisional teams winning respective matches. Traders in woe on Cess tax notice:

Jalgaon trader fraternity has always witnessed painful experiences in aligning with local administration when it comes to overall trade growths. Non-practical and no-trade experienced administration implemented taxation polices keep traders in woes and chaos in implementation front. JCMC has now issues show cause notices to around 2,500 traders for filling cess returns for implemented 17 days period.
None of party and Cess protesting lead taking politicians has protested to this strange move leaving traders once again alone in this fight. Traders' confederation is planning to move High Court terming it to be illegal and anti-trade taxing. Meanwhile Corporation General body is meeting today to discuss on implementation date of Cess tax and various other developmental issues.

Sindhi community in mourn - Saint baba Gelaram passes away:

Sindhi community senior saint baba Gelaram died away on Monday, 09AM following prolonged illness. He was at 78 age. Seva Mandal area in Sindhi colony had huge rush of devotees for final procession conducted today morning. Entire community kept their establishments and shops closed to mark this demise.

Jalgaon gets representation in State cabinet:
Tamaswadi (Parola) native Dr. Satish Bhaskarrao Patil has been selected for State minister in upcoming State cabinet extension. He is BAMS doctor by profession and has been elected as MLA from NCP alliance and in recent JDCC bank election. He is yet to get specific post in cabinet. Water reservation proposal sent to parent minister:

District administration has proposed increase in reservation for drinking water in major dam. It has also proposed decrease in reservation of Girana dam and maximum reservation from Waghur dam for Jalgaon city water supplies. This action plan is with reference to likely upcoming summer times water woes in district. Administration has estimated around 500 villages to face water shortages and has planned many actions to curb with this problem.
Girana and Tapi are two main drinking water availing Rivers in district. Chalisgaon, Bhadgaon, Pachora, Erandol and Jalgaon city have most dependence on Girana dam while Chopda, Dharangaon, Amalner, Bhusawal have dependence on Tapi River.

Rubby crop in danger following lowered ground water levels:
Lower monsoon raining has led to slow and low Rubby cultivation in district. Many areas in district have witnessed lowering of ground water level leading to shuttered Rubby cultivation planning. Agricultural department has estimated around 82% cultivation by now with most of cultivation in Girana and Hatnur basin waters. Department estimated 100,000 hectares cultivation in this season and has seen actual of 81,137 hectares while Jwar, gram and wheat.

Dhule ZP President Election on 30th December:
Dhule District Council (ZP) President election is scheduled on 30th December while four of its Panchayat committee head election is on 28th December. State government would notify all 165 newly elected candidate results today. There is no clear majority picture of who would get President and deputy posts.

District trade confederation meeting today on filling Cess Returns:
Jalgaon district traders' confederation has called for a special meeting today to discuss on filling of returns for Corporation implemented Cess tax for period from 01st until 17th November 2008. Corporation has sent notices to traders for filling this return in due time to avoid penal action.

It also plans to set up diesel based crematorium in Neri Naka, availing grants to Red Cross Society and NMU Yuvarang festivity.

Jalgaon's three MLA in race for State minister posts:
Jalgaon district's three of existing MLA are in efforts of forming support groups to get State Minister posts in likely extension of State cabinet with new CM. Jalgaon district is likely to get at least one Minister post in this extension. This includes Parola MLA Dr. Satish Patil, Bhusawal NCP leader Santosh Chaudhari along with NCP current State head Arunbhai Gujrathi from Chopda. Cold arrives in region:
Jalgaon district has started witnessing cold waves in low scale. Region's maximum temperature is stable in 34 degree centigrade zone while minimum temperature is in 14-15 degree centigrade scale. District planning and development committee election notification likely on 12th December:

Jalgaon district planning and development committee's 5-year terms election notification would be announced on 12th December. Election is scheduled on 14th January 2009. Administration has completed first phase works of updating electoral roll for this election. This election has voting for 40 seats and total 76 seats.

Martyr honor committee grand tribute function on Monday:
Jalgaon district martyr honor Committee is conducting homage function of Mumbai terror defending army men on Monday at 5PM in R. R. School Jalgaon. This would have participation of around 11,000 students from 45 schools and all public elected leaders of district. Ceremony would pay tributes to all soldiers and commando having lost their lives in escaping motherhood from ugly face of humanity.

ABVP 54th National convention in Jalgaon:
Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad Jalgaon unit is hosting 54th national convention in Jalgaon from 23rd until 26th January 2009 at Shivtirtha (G. S. Ground). ABVP is completing 60 years of student services and is celebrating this year as diamond jubilee year. It is expecting participation of around 5,000 activists from across Country. Convention has 3 sessions every day with Education Plan, current issues in education system in India and resolutions as major topics of discussion.

Court orders refund of Service charges levied by Corporation in Markets:
Jalgaon civil court has ordered refund of service charges levied by Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation to its leased shops owners in various municipal markets and has ordered not to levy any of such charges, as services providing is Corporation's role and duty. Corporation is levying service charges in its owned shops on yearly basis since 1992. Corporation is likely to file with high court on this issue after presenting this to standing committee.

Administration completes land acquisition in Jalgaon airport project:

District administration has completed acquisition process for Jalgaon airport land requirement. It has completed paper works of all 129 farmers. It would now announce award amount and avail compensation to farmers amounting to Rs. 31 Crores. Administration expects airport work startup from next calendar year.

NMU Department of Computer science conducted Avishkar-2008 from 17th December:
North Maharashtra University department of computer science conducted two-day annual research oriented Avishkar-2008 competition is beginning on 17th December. Participation ended on 29th November. Please contact NMU Computer department for further details.

Chopda, Chalisgaon and Bodwad APMC undergo election in January:
District Co-operative department has initiated election process for Chalisgaon, Chopda and Bodwad agricultural produces marketing committees for 19 seats each. Voting is on 24th January and nomination filling has began from today. Administration has received six nominations by now for its earlier announced Jalgaon and Jamner APMC.

Belganga sugar factory inaugurates boiler:
Bhoras (Chalisgaon) based Belganga sugar factory inaugurated its 30th seasonal boiler yesterday. It has set ambitious target of 200,000 tons of sugarcane processing in this season. Factory area has 70,000 tons sugarcane nearby zones could add up by another 70,000 tons. It has assured of Rs. 1,200 per ton rates to producers. Inaugural ceremony had appealed district apex co-operative bank to it out of financial woes by offering bailout sort of package.
District's three Sugar factories namely Vasant, Raver and MuktaiNagar are closed following lower/ no sugarcane in respective zone while Madhukar, Chopda and Belganga have ongoing sugarcane processing. Lower availability of labors and overall low productivity are key constraints for this reduction.

Krida Rasik Society oragnised State Kabbadi competition in Jalgaon from 25th December:
Krida Rasik Club is conducting 35th State Kabbadi competition and selection test from 25th December until 28th December at G. S. ground Jalgaon. Competition has under-20 and 65kg junior category along with 60kg junior girls' category. It expects around 48 teams' participation from across State.

Corporation general body meeting on 10th December to decide on Cess implementation:

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation general body is meeting on 10th December to discuss on Cess tax implementation date. State has flexed Corporations to arrive at implementation of Cess or Octroi and cutoff date for implementing tax. Body would also discuss on construction of public toilets at 25 locations in city, extension of lease agreement in Mahatma Fule Market ground and first floor with revision in taxes. It would also approve on roads extension in various areas.

CCI to begin cotton buying at 13 centers in Khandesh from today:
Cotton Corporation of India is beginning its State sponsored cotton buying at 13 locations in Khandesh from today. As private parties are offering lower rate following lower open market demands, this buying expects good rush and cost support for farmers. State has offered assured rates of Rs. 2,850/- per quintal. Authorities expect nearby Madhya Pradesh cotton arrival as well.
CCI started its buying process from 03rd November and stopped this process for last week following cloudy climate. It has procured 65,660 quintals of cotton until now and expects to start five more centres depending on farmer's response. It would buy only farmers' having submitting 7/12 document along with cotton green card.

SRPF Company to arrive in district:
State reserved Police force one Company is arriving in Jalgaon to maintain Law and Order situation with special purview to upcoming Dr. Ambedkar Mahaparinirvan and Bakri Eid occasions. This would add up to existing Police security layer along with 600 Policemen, 800 home guards and 200 Ladies Police.

Bhandara wins State teniquiet competition:
Jalgaon district teniquiet association conducted State competitions ended yesterday at Chalisgaon. Bhandara boys and girls teams have won sub-junior category. Pune and Nagpur won runner up awards. Competition has selected State team for national sub-junior competition.

District administration announces 698 water sources in Jalgaon:

Jalgaon district administration has recently announced list of villages likely to face water shortages in upcoming summer. It has now announced 698 current water sources in these locations and has restricted well digging in 500 meters areas of these sources.
Soil water survey, Jeevan Pradhikaran, ZP rural supplies department and Jal-Swarajya departments have availed this information to administration. It restricts 698 developed irrigable areas in 636 villages in Jalgaon, Jamner, Bhusawal, Yaval, Raver, MuktaiNagar, Pachora, Chalisgaon and Chopda taluka under section 7 of Maharashtra Soil Water Act 1993. It assigns priority to drinking water supplies first and bans digging of wells on public water sources without prior consent of officers.

State electricity distribution Company announces revised load shedding plan:
State electricity Distribution Company Jalgaon unit has announced revised electricity load shedding plans for urban and rural areas. This new plan has 5.30 hours daily load shedding in urban, 12.30 hours load shedding in independent feeder villages and 16 hours daily load shedding in farm pump areas. This plan is in effect from 03rd December as per its head office directives.

Dhule ZP results evoke hung ZP - Congress-I win maximum seats:
Dhule district council 55 blocks having underwent elections have resulted in 21 seats to Congress-I, 8 seats to NCP, 14 to Shivsena, 9 to BJP and 3 independents. Both Congress and NCP had separate candidature in this election. Any party willing to rule needs at least 28 seats to claim majority. Shivsena and BJP have gained 23 seats for first time.

NCP wins majority in Nandurbar elections:
Nationalist congress party has won clear majority in Nandurbar ZP elections. NCP has won 32 out of 53 seats while congress won only 16 seats. BJP won three seats while Shivsena and CPM won one each. Last term had Congress with 47 seats and NCP with 6 seats. Nandurbar ZP and Panchayat committee election process started on 02nd November and had 53 blocks with 106 seats and over 600 candidates.

02nd December:
NCP wins max in Dhule Corporation:

Nationalist Congress Party has won largest number of 26 seats in Dhule Municipal Corporation's second election. Votes counting have NCP - 26, Independents - 18, Shivsena - 16, Congress I - 3, BJP - 3 and BSP with 1 seat. This voting has resulted in defeat to two ex-council-presidents and existing Corporators having changed party. A few of new faces have arrived in. Dhule Corporation has 67 seats and there were 335 candidates in fray. Election had mere 57.24% voting.

Corporation standing committee meeting on Friday:
Jalgaon city municipal Corporation standing committee is meeting on Friday to discuss various projects on its agenda. This includes extension to ward#1-16 cleanliness Contract until 30th December, approve advertisement cost incurred in publicizing waste pickup van. It would also discus road works of Bendale Chowk - Subhash Chowk - Rath Chowk and setting up RCC rallying to various bridges in city.

District fencing competition:
District association conducted senior category fencing competition yesterday. Competition had Akshay Yeole winning in Epee, Niran Deshmukh in Foil and Rohan Bhavsar in Saber boys category along with Dhanshree Mahajan in Epee, Pranali Patil in Foil and Dhanshree Chaudhari in Saber category girls competition. District's these players would now participate in State fencing competition to be played at Pune from 05th until 07th December.

L. N. High school player selected in State cricket team:
Gaurav Puranik, Class VIII student of L. N. High School Jalgaon has been selected in Under-14 boys' state cricket team for national competition to be played at Delhi from 23rd December. He qualified for this selection by excellent performance in divisional competition at Dhule.

01st December:
Dhule and Nandurbar election voting completes:

Dhule district council 55 blocks and 4 Panchayat committee's 108 blocks underwent voting yesterday. It has been mixed response with 60% voting recorded. There are 625 candidates in fray for this election. Dhule Corporation voting also completed yesterday for 65 seats with 333 candidates in fray. Two candidates have already come unopposed. Corporation election had 60% voting.
Nandurbar also underwent 53 ZP blocks and 6 Panchayat committee's 106 blocks voting yesterday. There are 600 candidates in fray for this election and 62% voting has been recorded. Voting process went smooth and peaceful in both the districts. Votes counting begin today i.e. 01st December and results would be clear by evening for all elections.

Khandesh salutes its martyr son heroes of Mumbai terror fight:
Khandesh region has rich traditional memories of its valued contribution in Nation's every call for serving motherhood. Recent Mumbai terror pain is still alive in every India's mind. Khandesh's three brave martyrs have devoted their life to escape motherhood from this ugly face of humanity. Entire Khandesh salutes these heroes along with all those having contributed in unmasking this face of humanity and condemn anti-social elements and their supporters for such anti-humanity activities.
Murlidhar Laxman Chaudhari (Age: 54) from Hingona in Yaval taluka was on duty in railways protection force at Mumbai CST railway station that night. He inquired terrorists having entered into CST station and later terrorists shooting him along with many marking beginning of whole tragedy. He joined Railway Police in 1972-73 and was on duty in Mumbai since last 20 years or so.
Yogesh Shivaji Patil was from Lonkhedi in Dhule district and was on duty in railways protection force in L3 department. He joined railways in June 2005 after completion of H. Sc. Education. He was on duty as operator on Police Inspector's jeep. Jeep was at Kama Hospital to drop senior police officials and then take ATS chief and others further. Terrorist shot guns on those seniors and this jeep and took away lives of these heroes.
Ravinda Jagan Kunvar (Age: 32) was native of Sarangkheda in Shahada and was in security at Taj Hotel. Terrorists shot him during entry into Taj on the tragic day. He joined this job in last month itself after many job searches.

Jalgaon and Jamner Agricultural produces marketing committee election process begins:
District co-operative department has initiated election process for committee members election for Jalgaon and Jamner APMC for period from 2008-09 to 2013-14. There are 11 seats each APMC with 7 general, 2 ladies, 1 OBC and 1 SC/ ST category reservation. Nomination process begins today and ends on 15th December. Scrutiny is on 17th December and final listing on 18th December, last day of withdrawal of nominations is 02nd January 2009 and ends with voting on 18th January if required. Votes' counting is on 19th January.

World aids day - around 4,500 Aids infected in Khandesh region:
There are around 4,500 patients infected from Aids in whole Khandesh region. Administration is conducting various events throughout the week on eve of World Aids Day today. This includes public awareness rally, youth and truck drivers meet and guidance camps. Jalgaon has around 2,000 Aids patients and 339 patients having recovered from it, Dhule has 1,207 patients.
