31st May:
State calls for Industrial township objections:

Maharashtra State Government has initiated its second step measures to separate Jalgaon industrial area from City limits for forming separate Jalgaon Industrial Township. It has called for objections and comments by 29th June with district Collectorate.
District Industrial entrepreneurs have been demanding this separation since last 10 years and have fought many legal battles to get this notified. State notified this demand in GR on 05th April 2007. Jalgaon has 650 hectares industrial area with 1,648 plots available and 1,585 distributed. This area has around 800 small to medium industries setup.

H.S.C. 2007 Result on 07th June:
State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board is announcing H.S.C. Class result on 07th June at 11AM. Last date of submitting revaluation applications is 17th June while last date of filling for October-2008 exam is also 17th June with late payment penalty up to 27th June.

ZP standing committee meeting approves Chopda Council limits extension:
Jalgaon district council (ZP) standing committee has approved Chopda Municipal Council limits extensions and has also approved 15-25 Lakhs costing public works department tenders. It reviewed fertilizers shortage and water shortage.

Jalgaon to host National Women football competition from 17th June:
District Women Football association in association with State unit is conducting National Women's Football competition from 17th until 22nd June at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sports complex. Jalgaon is conducting this competition for first time and has received 16 State's various team participation notes.

District electrification committee unanimously resolves for cancelling newly demanded security deposit:
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company has served with special bills to all electricity consumers to pay additional security deposit based or State Commission Order. District electrification committee meeting yesterday has unanimously resolved to demand cancelation of this security deposit. Committee is dispatching this resolution to State electricity ministry. Committee has also raised demands to electricity distribution Company on not availing agricultural pump connections in spite of payments. Committee efforts on SD cancellation turning to reality are an aspect to be observed in upcoming review meeting.

District administration announces 16 groups for seeds and fertilizers distribution control:
Jalgaon District administration has formed a district level group and one each taluka-level group throughout district to monitor and systemize Kharip season seeds, fertilizers, fake products and controlled pricing based selling. Groups have been assigned with rights to survey and check. Committees would work under additional Collectorate, ZP agricultural development officer and respective taluka agricultural officer. Group consists of agricultural officer, revenue office employee and two policemen.

NMU conducted drinking water awareness drive in district:
North Maharashtra University Ecology and Geography department and rural development ministry are jointly conducting district-level rural areas drinking water awareness drive in Jalgaon from 02nd until 30th June. It would consist of 275 Panchayat training at department's resource lab.
Event aims at spreading awareness on waterborne diseases, using water under National Drinking Water scheme. It would consist of Panchayat Head, Gramsevak, Teacher, Health-Assistant, Panchayat member, Water supply staffing and Anganwadi teacher.

30th May:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation election soon:

State has published Jalgaon city's revised ward structure in last month Government Resolution on 21st April. This has cleared path for announcement of election in June. Election would be likely during August-end or September first week.

MPSC exam on 01st June: 2,666 candidates to appear from Jalgaon:
Maharashtra Public Services Commission exam is on 01st June 2008 at 9 centers in Jalgaon. There are 2,666 candidates appearing from Jalgaon.

State announces special concessions for sugar factories:
State Government has announced special package measures for sugar factories to encourage factories to take all pending sugarcane stock with farmers. District administration sources have estimated 3,000 hectare of sugarcane still lying with farmers. State Sugar Directorate has ordered all factories not to close processing until its orders.
Package would offer compensation for lower productivity, sugarcane processing, allow exports of sugar for huge producing units. District and whole State had record high sugarcane produces in 2006-07. Package offers special incentive of Rs. 1,000 per ton for factories exporting above 10 Lakh metric tones in period from 13th April 2007 to 30th September 2007.

Corporation announces ward-based committees for speedy processing of works:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has announced 3 separate committees for speedy processing of citizen complaints and grievances. These committees would function from 02nd June. This includes Ward# 1-3, 12-16 Committee at Corporation 17-story building Floor#4, Ward# 4-7, 18-21 at Late N. Agrawal Building behind Panchmukhi Hanuman temple and Ward#8-11, 17, 22-23 at Sane Guruji Library and reading room building behind Civil hospital.

Jalgaon People's Co-operative Bank receives RBI approval for Pune and Aurangabad Branches:
Jalgaon People's Co-operative Bank Ltd has received RBI approval for opening up Pimpri-Chinchwad (Pune) and Aurangabad Branch. Bank has become region's only co-operative bank to receive approval for opening branches apart from home district under RBI's Branch licensing policy. Both branches would open soon in core banking module.

29th May:
Increased heat and humidity unease life:

Entire region is sweating following suddenly raising temperature since last 3 days. Region has 42-43 degree centigrade during afternoon and minimum temperature has also risen to 27 degrees level. Region had intense heating during April-mid and it eased later.

Madhukar produces historic high sugar:
Madhukar Co-operative Sugar factory in Faizpur has processed 484,360 metric tones of sugarcane in this season and has recorded average productivity of 10.50%. Factory had such high worth in 1995-96 only. Region has around 675 hectares sugarcane still uncut. Factory has paid advance of Rs. 560 and second payment of guaranteed rate of Rs. 110.

Gujar community makes protest march in Jalgaon:
District Gujar Community made a protest march yesterday in Jalgaon, Pachora and Dharangaon taluka. Community members made a Road blockage at Ajanta Crossing and noted their protest against firing in protest campaigns in Rajasthan.

Sports academy in finals of State level T-20 competition at Dhule:
Jalgaon's Jain sports academy team has entered into finals of Dhule District T-20 Cricket association conducted T-20 competition. It defeated New-Sixer Cricket Club by 6 wickets. Team would now play against RCF Mumbai team in finals. Club scored 172/8 in designated 20 over. Academy scored this target in mere 17.3 over with Abrar scoring 51, Ganesh Lohar scoring 47 runs.

28th May:
District's 294 villages in dark zone:

Jalgaon district's areas having ground water level decreasing by 1 meter every year are listed in dark zones. State conducted 6th ground water level survey suggests 59 areas in developed irrigable areas and 234 in non-developed irrigable areas in 9 taluka.
This includes Jalgaon and MuktaiNagar Taluka's 59 villages in developed irrigable areas and 23 undeveloped areas from Raver, Yaval, Pachora, Chalisgaon, Chopda and Jamner.

Electoral roll preparations review meeting:
Nashik divisional electoral roll inspection officer visited Jalgaon yesterday to review various preparations of electoral roll preparation. Officer has urged administration to get more of photo identity cards and improve accuracy levels. Meeting had participation of district's newly appointed Collectorate, District election office, block officers and various concerned authorities. Meeting also announced continued photo identity cards process from 01st June at Collectorate.

New District Collectorate joins:
Jalgaon district's newly appointed Collectorate Kunal Kumar has taken charge of Jalgaon Collectorate. Amongst his top priorities include speedy processing of Governmental works, resolving drinking water issues; improve efforts for good soil water levels and getting Jalgaon Airport into realty.

District supply office reports adequate petrol stock in district:
Jalgaon district's all petrol pumps have received petrol and diesel stocks from Manmad based depot of BPCL. As a result all pumps are functioning normally and there is no queuing on pumps.
Earlier region witnessed sudden shortage of normal petrol following lower arrival of tanks from respective Company depots. Government's plan to hike fuel prices added to this woe and as a result most petrol pumps witnessed huge queues to get fuel. District Petrol Diesel Pump owner association has urged Jalgaonities not to take additional/ extra fuel and co-operate in case of lower/ no stocks following supply issues.

DIC conducted various training courses for educated unemployed youth:
D.I.C. office Jalgaon is conducting a special training for educated unemployed youths. District Collectorate enforces Section 37(1) and 37(3) on 01st June:
District administration is enforcing Bombay Police Act section 37(1) and 37(3) on 01st June 2008 to maintain Law and Order situation during Maharashtra Public Services Commission (MPSC) exam at 9 centers in district. This Order remain effective from 9AM until 2PM with restrictions in exam center areas.

27th May:
Mercury intensifies again - Bhusawal touches 44 degrees:

Outgoing summer is intensifying in last 3 days. Mercury has risen up to 44 degree centigrade at Bhusawal and is at 41.5 degree centigrade at Jalgaon. There has been intense heating throughout afternoon and early evening times.

District sugar factories post average 7.5% productivity:
This year's whopping sugarcane crop has led to continued sugarcane processing by Khandesh region's almost all sugar factories. This factor along with delay in sugarcane cutting has led to around 1-1.5% reduction in productivity. Khandesh's 4 sugar factories namely Madhukar Faizpur has 10.78% average sugar production, Chopda Chahardi has 10.65%, Adivasi Navapur has 10.86% and Shirpur factory has 9.74% productivity.
Last year most factories ended their processing by April-end. This year above 4 factories are still continuing their processing. Rest 5 factories namely Belganga (Chalisgaon), Vasant (Kasoda), Raver (Karjod), Pushpadanteshwar (Nandurbar) and Satpuda (Shahada) have already closed their processing for this season.

Constituency delimitation increases f 589 polling centers:
Delimitation Commission of India's newly announced and duly approved structure now has addition of 589 polling booths in Jalgaon district. Nashik divisional electoral roll inspection officers are arriving in Jalgaon today to review this structure.
New structure has Jalgaon and Raver as two parliamentary constituencies while Chalisgaon, Pachora, Erandol, Amalner, Jalgaon City and Jalgaon rural, Jamner in assembly constituencies in Jalgaon parliamentary region and Chopda, Raver, Bhusawal, MuktaiNagar and Malkapur as assembly constituencies in Raver parliamentary constituency. This has taken total booths count to 3,167 from 2,578.

New District Collectorate to take charge today:
Jalgaon district's new Collectorate Kunal Kumar is joining today. He is Electrical Engineer by education and 1999 batch IAS and native of Jharkhand. He has earlier served Bhandara as district Collectorate.

Jamner gets 22 Crores Waghur dam water supply approvals:
Jamner Municipal Council has received State approval for special drinking water supply pipe line lying estimated at around 22 Crores. The first phase work approval has 80% funds from Center, 10% each from State and Council. This project once initiated would likely avail daily drinking water to Jamner city.

Chalisgaon railway station to modernize:
Central Railways Bhusawal division has announced extension of Platform#2 and Platform#3 of Chalisgaon Railway station. It is also setting up modern signaling system. This extension work would cause in non-functioning of Dhule - Chalisgaon Passenger and adding of one sleeper and one AC-3 coach to Pathankot Express. Railway has urged passengers to co-operate and is also refunding Dhule and Chalisgaon route earlier bookings.

Lalit Patil selected in State Atya-Patya team:
Maharana Pratap School student Lalit Laxman Patil has been selected in State Atya-Patya team for upcoming National Junior Atya-Patya competition at Chandigarh. He qualified for this selection based on his performance in selection test at Kalyan. State team would move Chandigarh on 30th May.

26th May:
Amalner ward 26 bye-election announced:

State election commission has notified Amalner city ward#26 bye-election on 22nd June 2008. Election process begins on 26th May until 03rd June from 11AM until 3PM. Nominations Scrutiny is on 04th June followed by last date of withdrawal until 10th June. Final candidates listing would be published on 11th June followed by voting on 22nd and counting on 23rd June. Amalner sub-divisional office has been assigned with election officer charge.

Sudarshan community convention ends with 6 resolutions:
Walmiki Mehtar Sudarshan community's mega convention ended yesterday with 6 resolutions. Event had participation of community's thousands of members from throughout State. This includes demanding raising protests for cancellation of cleanliness works on tender basis, availing policy for education of cleanliness workers for schooling from Class I until Junior College, refunding State levied Professional tax deducted by tender works, availing Rs. 1,000 special medical management expenses for workers doing unhygienic cleanliness works and implementing pension for employees joined after 2002.

Jalgaon's 9th Chess player to get FIDE rating:
Rustomji High School's 13-years student Tejas Kulkarni has scored 4.5 points in ongoing State Chess competition at Sangli. He still has two games left and was required to score 3.5 points and play with one more FIDE rated player to be eligible for this rating. District has 8 FIDE rated players as of now.

25th May:
Mehtar Sudarshan Community mega convention begins today in Jalgaon:
Walmik Mehtar Sudarshan community Panchayat conducted Community's cleanliness workers mega convention is beginning today in Jalgaon. Convention would have presence of National scheduled castes welfare commission Chief and Loksabha deputy-chief. Convention begins today at 9AM.

District Police beefs up security following hoax bomb explosion call:
Jalgaon district Police has beefed up its security measures through the district and Jalgaon city after receipt of bomb explosion in civil hospital. District administration received this letter stating explosion on 24th May and had same last year as well. Police has now initiated trace route for this date to arrive at further investigation steps.
Meanwhile it has introduced metal detectors at civil hospital, has 79 policemen in uniform and 18 in plain cloths patrolling all around.

Corporation begins Lendi Nala bridge work:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has begun bridge construction work on Lendi Nala Bridge on city skirts and inaugurated yesterday. It has approved this work under 11th finance commission and estimates 35 Lakhs 6,842 expenditure for completion. Work completes by this year end. Bridge has 27 meters height and 10.80 meters width and would facilitate Jalgaonities in Mamurabad, Idgaon State Highway traffic diversion from Shivaji Nagar and thus reduce traffic at Mamurabad under-railway line bridge traffic.

State orders reduction in Cotton BG-1 seed by 100 Rs.:
Maharashtra State Government has issued GR ordering decrease in rates of Bolguard-1 and Bolguard-2 BT seeds. The GR has come into immediate effect and Boguard-1 is now priced at Rs. 650 while Bolguard-2 is at 750.

District Government hospitals to offer Hepatitis vaccination from 01st June:
Jalgaon district's all Government hospitals; rural hospitals, primary health centers, Corporation and Council hospitals would have free Hepatitis B vaccination from 01st June. Authorities estimate benefiting around 3 Lakh weaker section children from this drive. Government hospitals already offer BCG, DPT, Polio, DT and TT vaccinations.

T-20 State-level cricket competition at Dhule: Mumbai and Jalgaon wins:
Dhule District T-20 Cricket Association conducted State-level competition yesterday had Mumbai's D. Y. Patil Team and Jalgaon's Mahrishi Walmik teams winning their respective matches. Jalgaon team defeated Dhule's Jawahar team. Competition today has Nashik Academy versus Bhusawal and Ajay Sports Amalner versus Riders.

24th May:
Jalgaon Corporation to implement Cess tax from 01st August:

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation is enforcing turnover based cess tax for all goods brought from outside into city with effect from 01st August 2008. State recently announced discontinuing Octroi Tax and introducing Cess on goods bought and sold.
Corporation is likely to begin trader registration process soon. The Act provisions 2 years imprisonment and penalty in case traders not register.

Erandol Taluka report - Kharip plantation pre-measures begin:
Erandol taluka mainly has Cotton, Jwar, Bazra and other grains. Farmers here have begun their preparations for upcoming Kharip plantation. This includes buying seeds, cleaning farms, cultivating basic seeds etc. Usually cultivation process ends by June end. Taluka is struggling with bad roads and basic infrastructural conditions.

23rd May:
JDCC Bank MD Election tussles:

Jalgaon District Central Co-operative Bank current Managing director is retiring on 31st May. There are around 15-20 candidates in fray for this post. Selection of qualified candidate with good vision is a biggest challenge for Co-operative board administrating this financially weakening bank. PG in Commerce and degree in Co-operative department courses are base qualification for this post candidature.

Irrigation department to avail special release of Girana dam water for crops:
Girana Irrigation Authorities are availing a special release of Girana dam water through canals for summer crops. It has urged all member farmers to pay their water tax dues to get water. Water release is scheduled on 26th May with daily release for 15 days

District wins 31 medals in National skating competition:
Jalgaon district players have won 4 gold, 14 silver and 13 bronze medals in recently conducted National skating competition at Kolhapur. District Under-14 girls won Gold while Under-11 girls and Under-14 boys won runner up awards. Jalgaon skater Pranit Deshmukh won beginner rink and road categories.

Tejas Kulkarni nearing FIDE rating:
Jalgaon's junior chess player Tejas Kulkarni has defeated Goa FIDE rated player in second round of ongoing FIDE rating chess competition at Sangli. He equalised in first round with Mumbai player. He has now scored 1.5 points and would get FIDE rating soon. Jalgaon's another player Pratik Patil has scored 3 points in this competition by now.

22nd May:
Corporation General Body special meeting on open plot tax review:

Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation general body special meeting called on open plot tax rates yesterday marked strong protest on proposed taxing rates. Ruling party proposed Pune Corporation styled rentable value based tax levying with 25 Paise per square meter amount to Rs. 1.39. Body has approved this rate. Body has also rejected administration proposed taxing from last 12 years.
Earlier Jalgaon Municipal Council was charging this tax from 1993 and had various variations in terms of rate implementation. Administration proposed 6% tax on capital invested amount.

Jalgaon district council ZP receives pending transfer orders:
District Council has completed its annual transfer process by 31st May by announcing pending 20% transfers. This includes district level's 15% and Taluka level's 5% transfers. Most transfers include teachers in Class-3 and Class-4 employment along with block officers, superintendents, senior assistant, junior assistant, Junior Accounts Officers etc.

Jamner receives 12 Crores towards land acquisition for Kang Project:
Jamner taluka forestry department has received 12 Crores 38 Lakhs 79,000 fund from Tapi development Corporation towards land acquisition for Kang Project. Forestry department has large land in Kang project area and has it decided not to avail land without getting compensation fund. This decision was extended for a period of 5 years and deadline was ending yesterday evening. This acquisition would now speed up Kang project work and add to overall growth of Jamner taluka.

District's 4 taluka included in State Well recharging scheme:
NABARD has announced inclusion of Jalgaon district's Chopda, Pachora, Raver and Yaval taluka for Well recharging scheme. This would benefit 30,000 Well and add to ground water levels here.

21st May:
Normalising mercury eases summer life:

This year's summer has eased its intensity. Softening and stabilising temperature around 40 Degree centigrade, reducing electricity load shedding and daily drinking water supply is washing region's terrorising summer memories. Whole region has more of cyclonic winds flow in afternoon times. Summarising summer heat intensity, region had 10-12 days of intense heat only during mid April duration.

Girana River region witnesses clouding raining:
Nagardeola and Kajgaon in Chalisgaon taluka witnessed sudden cloudy Raining yesterday evening at around 6.30PM. Kajgaon also had peas sized snowing for around 15 minutes. This raining and snowing led to electricity outages till late night and reminded region of 4-year earlier such rainfall on 11th May.

Corporation General body special meeting today on Open Plot taxing rates:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation has served 22,492 Jalgaonities with new bills for Open Plot tax with revised rates. All bills raised have last 12 years combined tax due shown.
Jalgaonities and opposition parties have marked strong protest to this whimsy billing applied with last 12 years effect. Administration has earlier taken special meetings on Waghur dam, roads and water supplies and house taxes. But has turned pseudo in implementation and continues to drill holes in common person's pocket.

North Maharashtra all-party representation to meet President on 06th June:
Northern Maharashtra region's all parties representation is meeting President of India on 06th June to demand for formation of North Maharashtra legislative development corporation.
The representation expects speeding up of overall development and growth of region by formation of this corporation. It would also help get good State funds to complete pending irrigation and other development projects. State has sent its proposal for formation of this Corporation to Centre and representation is likely to urge President to push this further to Centre and get things going.

Yaval Banana shipping labours announces indefinite strike demanding increase in wages:
Yaval taluka banana shipping labour association has called for indefinite strike from today demanding immediate increasing in labour charges for shipment of banana through road. Banana producers group has not shown interest in this hike. Labour here gets 1.50 Rs. Per banana bunch to that of Rs. 2 per Kg in nearby taluka. Rural areas have no effect of this strike.

Jhipru Anna festivity begins from Sunday:

Nashirabad rural deity Jhipru Anna Maharaj's 59th memorial festivity is beginning from Sunday, 25th May. Temple trust has organised various programmes on the event. It includes Depotsava, Fun fair, mega Abhishek and worshipping, Gayatri enchanting and various other programmes. Region's leaders have demanded assigning pilgrimage centre status to Nashirabad so as to develop this temple into large entity.

19th May:
Pal, Jamnya forestry officials report increase in wild animals:

Raver taluka adjoining Pal and Jamnya forestry officials have reported significant increase in number of forest animals in 2006-07 and 2007-08. Last year's good monsoon raining availing good drinking water to animals in this zone has been quoted as major reason of increase. Pal forestry has 7,994 hectares area and is located north to Raver taluka while Jamnya having 9,563 hectares area is located to north of Yaval taluka. Both have dense trees and plantation as compared to Satpuda forestry.
Report further states no Lions and Tigers in both forests. It confirms presence of Jackal (Chital), Fox (Kolha), crested serpent eagle (Sarpagarud), Ursus Labiates (Aswal), Wolf (Landga), Panther (Bibtya), spotted deer, deer, Hyena (Taras). Pal has 24 spotted dear and 16 Hyena while Jamnya has 13 Hyena.

Sakharam Maharaja Festivity Amalner Palkhi today:
Amalner city religiously known as next-Pandharpur for region is celebrating Sakharam Maharaja Festivity now a days. Festivity's key attraction Palkhi would begin from 6AM today. Saint Sakharam was known for his simplicity and life-long enchanting and used to visit Pandharpur every year and lived on banks of Bori River in a small Chandramauli hut. He passed away on Vaishakh Shuddha Chaturdashi and stories confirm Pandurang's presence with his fellow devotees in his funeral.
To memorise and keep his devotions alive, King Bahaddur Deshmukh announced conducting of annual festivity on Vaishakh Pornima.

Kharip Plantation begins:

District Collectorate issues acquisition orders for Jalgaon Airport land:

Jalgaon districts outgoing Collector has issued order for acuqisition of land in proposed Jalgaon Airport area. Sub-divisional officers have been empowered to acquire this land. This has now taken Jalgaon airport land requirement issue to final phase.
State Government has made special budgetary allocation for Jalgoan airport in this budget and has assigned this work to State Airport Development Company. District administration has finalised existing Airport location for developing fully facilitated Airport by acquiring 243 hectare farm land of 132 farmers of Kusumba and Nashirabad region.

Jalgaon's Vivek Alwani to participate in International Table tennis competition at Brazil:
Corporation's Choube School sports teacher Vivek Alwani is representing India in Intenrational Senior's Table tennis competition at Rio-De Generio in Brazil. Competition is from 24th until 30th May and he would be participating in Individual singles and doubles. He has earlier won two gold medals in inter-state competition, silver in doubles and bronze in team event. Jalgaon Corporation has also availed him a special aid of Rs. 1 Lakh.

Jalgaon District Collector transferred to Kolhapur:

Jalgaon district Collector Vijay Singhal has been transferred as Commissioner to Kolhapur Municipal Corporation. He took charge of Jalgaon district administration on 05th June and would be replaced with current Kolhapur Council Commissioner Kunal Kumar. Additional Collectorate has been assigned with temporary charge until new joining.

Sales Tax Department Dhule division tops in revenue targets in State:
Dhule reveue division comprising of Dhule, Jalgaon, Nandurbar districts has topped State Government revenue targets by achieving 272.95 Crores target. This includes Jalgaon District's lion share of 226 Crores. State has started separate office for Dhule division from 01st May 2007.

JDCC Bank reports 59.35 Crores loss in F. Y. 2007-08:
Jalgaon District Central Co-operative Bank has reported a net loss of 59 Crores 35 Lakhs as on 31st March 2008. Bank administration marks Central Government's loan debt waiver scheme, RBI changed NPA norms, huge outstanding dues with large-scale governmental organisations like Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation.
This has now mounted its total reserved losses to 247 Crores. Bank has now made provision of NPA from 259 Crores to 318 Crores. Bank has collected deposits worth Rs. 1,494 Crores and distributed loans amounting 1,134 Crores.

District Skating team moves for National Competition at Kolhapur:
Jalgaon district amatuer roller skating team has moved for Kolhapur to participate in National Roller skating competition in Speed, artistic, roller hockey category from 17th until 18th May.

Jalgaon Government Circuit house marked as presidential suite:
State Government has marked newly built Jalgaon Circuit house as presidential suite and has transferred all booking and maintenance works to State Public Works department. This order contains all recently built guest and circuit houses especially constructed/ developed during Presidential visit. This mark would now allow use of this suite only to Country's 9 top cadre VVIP personalities. All others requiring these Houses would require State CM special permission. All MLA, MP, State and Central Ministers, all class government officials will not be able to use this circuit house anymore.

Corporation General Body Special meeting on Open Plot Tax rates on 21st May:

Jalgaon city municipal Corporation General Body is meeting on 21st May to discuss especially on newly announced Open Plot Tax rates. Administration has served new rates based bills with last 12 years dues to 22,492 open plot owners. Jalgaonities and opposition parties have made strong protest on tax rate implementation since last 12 years as most rates are applied this date onward only.

Kharip crop plantation planning:
District's farmers are in preparatory state for upcoming Kharip plantation season. All 23 seeds and fertilizer companies have availed around 15 Lakh packets of seeds to avoid last year kind of shortages. District Council (ZP) agricultural authorities have urged farmers to use agricultural university recommended seeds for Khandesh region and sowing only after 20th May to get best of productivity.

Snowing causes Rs. 2 Crores losses in Yaval:
Yaval taluka having witnessed snowing and cyclonic rains on 08th and 09th May has faced estimated losses of Rs. 2 Crores 48 Lakhs 23,350 Rupees. Standing banana crop has been worst hit in this loss. This includes farmers from Nhavi, Hingona, Borkheda, Marul, Amode and Faizpur.

District meeting on pre-monsoon preparations:

Jalgaon district administration conducted a meeting of all officials in district to review pre-monsoon caution preparations taken. Meet has resolved to complete all related works before 30th May and keep emergency measures ready and on alert in terms of disaster management. It also discussed various steps various measures to save deaths caused due to lightning. District had highest number of cases throughout State in lightning causing deaths in last year. Amongst other measures to take are cleanliness of Rivers, canals, gutters, removing encroachments on banks of Rivers and set up control rooms at revenue, irrigation, ZP, Panchayat, Police and Health Authorities by appointing concerned persons.
Meeting had ZP CEO, District Police, regional officers, Tahsil officers, Corporation and Council officers, RTO authorities, district health authority, and irrigation and PWD engineers.

Jalgaon Airport land acquisition:
District administration has initiated its processes to acquire farmer's land in proposed Jalgaon Airport area. Administration preparations hint at availing maximum benefits to farmers turning land-less after this acquisition. The airport location has Nashirabad and Mauje Kusumba Shivar and has ample land available. Administration is likely to follow State GR on land acquisition and rehabilitation and is likely to avail compensation of 750, 650 and 500 days rehabilitation aid for less, lesser and land-less farmers.
Maharashtra Airport Development Company would initiate its developmental works including air-strip development and airport concerned constructions once this land is readily available.

Corporation action plans on Monsoon preparations:
Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation administration has also initiated its measures to complete pre-monsoon works to avoid calamities during full monsoon. It has served notices to 79 likely-aged buildings and is also doing Lendi-Nala cleaning works to avoid flooding losses. It plans to form a special group of Health, Public works and water supplies authorities to take emergency actions.
Other measures include 24-hours control disaster management support room, cleanliness 6 major Nala in city, circulate awareness posters, keep boats ready, review last 5 years scenario to formulate strong action plan and review last 10 years viral diseases spread during raining.

Administration opens up 15 grain buying centers:
District administration following State Government directives has opened up 15 grains buying centers offering guaranteed basic rates throughout district. Centers would buy general quality grains and farmers are required to bring 7/12 statement while coming for selling. Opened centers are one each at respective taluka and are functional through respective taluka Farmers co-operative buy-sales centers. All these centers would buy from 06th May until 30th June.

Free books for all - Over 6.15 Lakh books demand registered:
District Educational authorities have registered a demand of 615,637 text books with State authorities under Education for All Scheme for students from first until 08th Class. Beginning this year, all open category students will also receive free books.
This includes 563,491 books for Marathi medium, 49,082 books for Urdu medium, 2,753 books for Hindi medium and 311 books for Sindhi medium. State's this decision is likely to hurt book sellers business terribly.

Jalgaon Airport - District administration to complete land acquisition in 15 days:
Jalgaon district administration has announced completion of land acquisition process for initiating Jalgaon Airport development works. State Airport Development Company needs 250 hectares land to develop Jalgaon airport and district administration was in discussion with farmers for buying land. Land owning farmers however have denied administration proposed rates. If dialogue fails, Administration could also opt for land acquisition that would avail standard government rate to farmers.

Banana touches Rs. 580 per quintal rate:
District's banana facing sudden climatic chance, cyclonic winds and snowing in a few regions has witnessed increase in rate by 150 Rupees per quintal. Rates have increased mainly due to short-supply.
Earlier banana rates dipped down following hefty arrival of Mango in North India. Later Raver and Yaval taluka some parts witnessed cyclonic winds and snowing on 08th and 09th May leading damage of standing crop in around 250 hectares land. Last traded rate was Rs. 460 per quintal with difference of 20 Rupees.

Gastro reported in Amalner - water samples sent for analysis:
Mandal (Amalner) has reported spread of gastro disease and has received around 12 cases by now. District health authority has reported that it has been controlled now and has sent 5 water samples and patient semen for further analysis. Currently 8 patients are under treatment while rest have been discharged.

District set on High Alert after Jaipur serial blasts:
Jalgaon district Police has set whole district on high alert mark following Jaipur serial bomb blasts killing hundreds. It has increased patrolling and sealed borders and has urged citizens to report immediately in case of any of suspicious activities being carried out.

District Council and Corporation schools witness inflow fall by 50,000 students:

Jalgaon district's ZP, Corporation and local councils conducted schools continue to witness downfall in number of students per year. ZP and Corporation's two schools have closed following lower strength.
District has witnessed boom in education system and as a result there are good number of schools available to select from. District had 312,251 students in year 2003-04 in ZP, Corporation and Council Marathi schools. This number has now fallen down to 236,408 in Year 2007-08.

District's 75 skaters have been selected for National skating competition based on their winning in district skating competition conducted by Jalgaon district amateur roller skating association. Crop loan repayment - interest rate confusion continues:

Jalgaon District Co-operative Bank has recently extended deadline for repayment of crop loan repayment until 30th June. Bank has not received clear guidelines on interest rate and is awaiting NABARD circulation on whether to charge 6% interest rate of 11% rate.
As a result mere 3 Crores loan has been distributed in this financial year until April end. Last year bank had distributed 80 Crores of loans in April-2007.

Jalgaon district's 40 co-operative societies are in deep financial disorder and audits have revealed financial irregularities in 13 out of these societies. Police has booked 227 in CPC and has estimated whopping 35 Crores loss.

Pratik Patil wins international chess competition in Greece:
Jalgaon's junior chess hero Pratik Patil has won under-13 international chess competition conducted at Khalkidhiki in Greece by scoring 7 points of 9 rounds. He has won trophy, gold medal and invitation to participate in Euro Youth competition. He has become region's first player to achieve this honor. Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation Development and Planning Committee met yesterday to discuss various topics on its agenda. Body has unanimously passed resolution to write to District administration to acquire all vacant and public 17-18 lands under its development plan.

Sakharam Maharaj festivity begins from 07th May:
Shri Saint Sakharam Maharaj festivity is beginning from Wednesday, 07th May at Amalner. The temple has two hundred years tradition of flag hoisting with enchanting and various religious programs. 05th May:
Over 250,000 tones sugarcane standing in Madhukar and Chopda belt:

Currently Madhukar, Chopda and Vasant Co-operative Sugar factories are operational in district. Both Madhukar and Chopda have enough sugarcane still available for processing until Monsoon raining beginning. Reports estimate around 250,000 tones sugarcane available in 4,200 hectares area.
Major cause of availability is lack of manpower to cut this sugarcane. Both factories are planning to keep sugarcane processing up until 05th June.

Mercury eases with high wind flow:

Whole region is taking relaxed breath as intense summer heat has dipped down to 40 levels following continued stormy winds since last week. Central Water Commission has recorded 41 degree centigrade temperature in Bhusawal city while Jalgaon also had 41.5 degrees on scale. Minimum temperature was at 26 degrees and 65% humidity.

School Admission processes about to end:
Jalgaon city and district English and Semi-English medium schools admission processes are in final phases for Nursery, Junior K.G., Senior K. G. and various other classes. District has witnessed boom in educational sector since last academic year and as a result there are variable options to select from in English, Semi-English and Marathi medium schools.
District education office has banned taking donations. In spite of this Order many of English medium Schools have charged around 5,000 to 15,000 for fresh admissions along with their fees. Almost all schools would have results announced in this week and would reopen in June second or third week

Fire in Nashirabad - Losses worth 25 Lakhs estimated:
A threshing platform (Khalwadi) near telephone exchange on Beli road in Nashirabad caught sudden fire around 3PM in afternoon. This has damaged 25 nearby Khalwadi killed 15 animals by intense fire heat, many a farming equipments and 75 gunny bags of food grains.
Fire turned intense as whole region yesterday afternoon witnessed stormy winds from afternoon until night times. Moreover fire brigade fighters from Bhusawal and Jalgaon arrived late leading to more losses. As fire was near weekly market place going on, it led to stampede and panic. Tahsil authorities are evaluating fire losses.

District deputy registrar receives State GR on farm loan repayments extension:
District deputy registrar has received State G.R. conveying extension to crop loan repayments date to 30th June 2008 to that of existing 31st March 2008 for loans taken from various co-operatives. Banks and these institutions classified these non-paying farmers as defaulters. This year's loan repayment process witnessed harsh times with Centre announcing farm loan debt waiver with no clear guidelines on this year dues.

Amalner Council Ward-26 bye-election:
District administration has initiated steps to conduct bye-election of ward-26 of Amalner Municipal Council with likely announcement of election in June by State E.C. It has begun process by electoral roll update. This ward seat vacated with earlier winning N.C.P. candidate resigning.

District businesses confederation urges District administration to convey stock limits:
Government machinery's hurry to enforce rules and regulations without educating traders is not new. Central and State government's recent inflation control measures are such one action where administrations have forced Rules to raid traders and check stocks but haven't yet defined limits.
Administration is yet to reveal itemized stock limits for retailers and wholesalers and item in trade limits under Maharashtra Food grain Dealers Licensing Order 1963. The Act allows traders to go for single license to trade rice, grain, pulses, edible oil and soya.

Jalgaon fast paced left-handed bowler Jitendra Arun Patil has been selected in last-15 players of Western divisional team for BCCI conducted Under-19 Coochbihar Trophy international cricket competition. He has joined Baroda training camp. Competition is from 27th May.

Deshmukh, Saraf nominated for District sports award:
Jalgaon district fencing player Niranjan Pradeep Deshmukh and Akash Arun Saraf have been nominated for District Sports Award 2007 by State Sports and youth services directorate Pune. Both have participated in Chinese Taipei Asian fencing competition. Prize includes Rs. 2,100 Cash, Memento and Certificate.
