30th September:
District's 347 farmers receive onion sales grant aid:
February and March 2006 Kharip and Rubby season heavy onion production
led to sharp drop in onion price. As a special compensation to cover
up this loss, jalgaon agricultural produces marketing committee announced
50 Rs. per quintal grant. In all 347 farmers sold 16,476 quintal of
onion through APMC and have now received 849,650 grant proposal approved
from state via APMC.
Gandhi research foundation NMU organized essay competition:
North Maharashtra University Gandhi research foundation is conducting
an essay competition for school and college students on Mahatma Gandhi
works and his philosophy. Competition is in three categories with
5th to 7th students to get "Gandhi journey of truth" with
Gandhi Bapu book taken as base. Class 8th until 10th students can
appear for Gandhi principles and philosophy based on various texts.
Junior and senior college students can appear in Gandhi philosophy
essay competition. Competition is being conducted from 02nd until

Dhule wins divisional basketball competition: Jalgaon wins runner
up award:
Dhule division has won divisional basketball competition along with
Jalgaon as runner up in the competition. In first match, Dhule won
on Erandol with 15 points and in another match jalgaon won over Nandurbar
by 30 points.
29th September:
Waghur dam water to Jalgaon likely to delay:
Corporation administration is likely to face repulsion on non-completing
of Waghur dam water supply works in time. Earlier it set 02nd October
as inauguration day for availing Waghur dam water to Jalgaon city.
Administration is expecting around 1/2 months more time to complete
transformers and electrical installations delayed due to continued
raining. The project is in testing phase with smoothened testing being
conducted. Meanwhile the Girana dam temporary sand blockages have
flown out due to raining. This has led to change of water supply direction
in Girana pumping delaying city water supplies. Corporation has undertaken
war-level preparations to regulate this supply.
Heads off to morale: Kanchandevi achieves 71 days Tapasya:
Faith and devotion to tradition and community are harder to see these
days. Today's speed and technology driven environment race for best
has taken humanity and devotion as rare factors. Kanchandevi Chhajer,
Jalgaon's one of community devotee is completing her 71 days "Tapasya"
on 02nd October. This is one of highest ever fasting record done by
anyone in the whole Khandesh region. This "Tapasya" allows
mere use of drinking water only until sunset and remaining on fast
for such a long period deserves ovation and heads off. She has earlier
completed 41 and 61 days Tapasya.
Dengue attacks in district:
Jalgaon district civil hospital has received two identified patients
having dengue fever. These patients are from Gombhi, Bhusawal and
Takli, Jamner. District health department is yet to announce its action
plan to tackle this rapidly spreading viral fever.
NMU student council election today:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon student council election for
president and secretary post is being conducted today. Earlier it
formed a committee of 15 student members. Student organizations like
NSUI, M.N.S.,NCP, Congress I, K.V.A.,A.B.V.P. had active discussions
for alliances.
28th September:
Banking sector all set to revolutionise: Stanchart opening
up Jalgaon branch soon:
Jalgaon is all set to witness mega banking services revolution with
arrival of Standard Chartered Bank in Jalgaon. The bank is opening
up its Jalgaon branch shortly on Akashwani square. Interestingly arrival
of such large scale Banks and other financial institutions has enriched
real estate rentals market to spicy and handsome earning opportunity.
Corporation gets new Commissioner:
Maharashtra State Government has announced appointment of Ramnath
Kacheshwar Sonawane as new Commissioner to Jalgaon City Municipal
Corporation. Corporation has received this appointment letter from
State authorities yesterday. Currently additional district Collectorate
has charge of corporation.
Mr. Sonawane has been working with MMRDA as deputy CEO and has now
been promoted as Corporation commissioner. He has earlier worked in
Dhule, Kalyan - Dombivali Corporations and for Amalner municipal council
as well. He is Chincholi (Sangamner) native and has begun his administrative
services in 1989. He is yet to arrive in Jalgaon to take this charge.
Jalgaon, Nandurbar and Dhule get special division for Caste validity
certification:
State has announced formation of special divisional office for caste
validity certification at Dhule. The office would cover Jalgaon, Dhule
and Nandurbar districts. Earlier these districts had to approach Nashik
office to get certification.
Bhoite Nagar Railway crossing soon to have over bridge:
Central Railway authorities have approved construction of over bridge
on Bhoite Nagar railway crossing. Central railways authorities have
also approved over bridge on Surat line railway crossing near Jalgaon
milk union. Western railway authorities are processing this request
and would shortly confirm the same.
Approval of this over bridge would turn practical in 3 to 4 years
time span and would save lot of time of Jalgaonities in crossing over
to Bhoite Nagar and other colonies in the other side. Corporation
has deposited Rs. 17 lakhs amount for this work to Railway authorities.
Inter-school taekwondo competition:
Corporation and district sports authorities jointly conducted inter-school
taekwondo competition at jalgaon completed amidst cheerful participation
from all schools. A. T. Zambre school team has won 6 gold, 9 silver
and 8 bronze medals in corporation-area along with Nandinibai School
winning 6 gold, 2 silver and a bronze securing second rank. Sardar
G. G. High school Raver won first rank on district level securing
14 gold and 8 silver medals.
27th September:
Village panchayat elections: 38 panchayat gets unopposed candidates:
District village panchayat ongoing election process now has pretty
clear picture after last day of withdrawal of nomination getting over
on Wednesday. Out of 130 panchayat, 38 now have unopposed candidatures
with Jalgaon taluka having 5, Amalner having 6, Parola - 5, Chalisgaon
- 6, Bhadgaon - 4, Bhusawal - 1, Raver - 6 and Dharangaon - 3 single
candidatures.
Corporation bye-election: 3 candidates in fray get signs:
Corporation Ward#13C bye-election now has only 3 candidates in fray.
Administration yesterday availed election signs to these candidates.
There are 7 polling booths in this ward to conduct election. Candidates
have begun campaigning for the election.
Junior Challenge trophy cricket competition:
District cricket association organized junior challenge trophy cricket
competition began on Wednesday. Inaugural matches had St. Hardasram
Hindi High school winning on Shriram Secondary School Mehrun by 12
run; Bhagirath School won by 91 runs over School # 56, School#36 won
over Jain School by 149 runs, Siddhi Vinayak School defeating Gram
Vikas by 51 runs and Sharda winning on Bhusawal railway by 3 wickets.
26th September:
NMU Academic council meeting review:
North Maharashtra university academic council meeting has mandated
non-continuation of colleges' affiliation on non-compliances of local
enquiry committee statutory requirements from next academic year.
The council meeting approved commerce, management and law streams
course curricula and important resolutions. NMU has received Rs. 35-40
lakhs annual grants from UGC under special assistance programme and
would receive Rs. 15 lakhs this year for infrastructural resources
development.
Council also discussed starting up of BA in foreign languages or foreign
trade, cultural studies, B. C. A. under commerce stream, B. Com. in
H.R.D., business law and corporate management, B. Sc. in actuarial
science and starting up of School of Nano science with M. Sc. in Nano-Bio
science, Nano material science, Nano chemical science. It also plans
to start drugs chemistry, M. sc. (Analytical chemistry), 5-years integrated
bio-informatics and geo-informatics courses.
It has further called for comments and suggestions from council members
to arrive at final decision on these courses in its next meeting.
Madhukarrao Chaudhari appointed as Executive President of Rashtrabhasha
Prachar Samiti:
Region's senior political figure Madhukarrao Chaudhari has been appointed
as Executive President of Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti Wardha. The
tri-annual board meeting elected him as chief. Committee aims in spreading
Hindi language as World language and has also sent proposal to establish
International Hindi University to Government of India.
Neha Yeole selected for State swimming competition:
Chalisgaon swimmer Neha Rajendra Yeole has won divisional swimming
competition in 100 meters back stroke category at Nashik. She has
now qualified for state competition to be played at Ichalkaranji.
25th September:
Good bye Ganesha:
The lord of happiness and well being Ganesha is departing today amidst
cheerful and blessed sentiments all around. Administration has made
adequate arrangements at Mehrun Lake and Girana pumping zone for sub-merging
of Ganesha idols. The festive and cheerful farewell begins on 10am
from Corporation amidst Lezim and dancing Mandal enthusiasts.
Chak de India: Region rejoices India's T20 world Cup victory:
Entire Jalgaon district and region went on Diwali celebration yesterday
with India winning Twenty-20 World Cup final match defeating rival
Pakistan team. There has been never before excitement in with everyone
adhered to Television sets to get latest updates and scores. Businesses,
banks and governmental institutions finished their work earlier to
get a view of match.
People celebrated Indian team victory with crackers and celebration.
There had been continuous fireworks for more than an hour after victory.
Right from match beginning till last wicket, hearts locked and went
applauding on victory. The day would be marked as Golden day in Indian
sporting history with everyone making it a priceless moment.
Cyclonic winds and raining damages mount further:
Raver taluka has witnessed huge losses of 76 Lakhs to 164.74 hectare
land in 14 villages. Administration has assessed Waghod, Karjod, Khanapur,
Chorwad and further assessing loses.
Village Panchayat elections nomination scrutiny:
District authorities scrutinized nomination forms for upcoming village
panchayat elections yesterday. It has received around 2,500 valid
nominations and would get exact clear picture only after last day
of withdrawing nominations on Wednesday. There are 187 candidates
in fray in Jalgaon taluka.
24th September:
Raver taluka faces Rs. 33 lakhs losses:
Cyclonic winds and sudden heavy monsoon raining has led to 33 lakhs
losses as per primary estimates from agricultural department. It estimates
damages to standing crop in 10 villages of taluka and to 43 hectare
area having banana, jwar, cotton and other crops. The eastern area
of taluka has witnessed more losses and authorities are yet preparing
estimates for the same.
State table tennis competition: Irik Fernandez and Preeti Mokashi
wins:
Taluka table tennis association conducted table tennis competition
ended yesterday with mumbai sub urban player Irik Fernandez and Preeti
Mokashi winning. Sanil Sheety (Mumbai sub urban), Ashlesha Bodas (Pune)
won youth category and Shruti Talnitkar (Thane) and Noel Pinto (Mumbai
sub urban) winning junior category matches.
Village panchayat nominations scrutiny today:
District administration is scrutinizing nominations received for village
panchayat elections. Last date of withdrawing nominations and signs
distribution is 26th September. Amalner taluka has received highest
number of 438 nominations along with Jalgaon having 195, Parola 167,
Chopda 123, Yaval 249, Raver 370, Jamner 397, Chalisgaon 374 and Dharangaon

Bhusawal artists outshines in national drama competition at Agra:
The Kala Hanuman cultural and arts forum performed "Bruhannda
and group dance" in the Sanskar Bharti Agra conducted national
drama competition. Pramod Ohol won Third prize of Best Character Play
for his "Gopi" role, Shripad Sonar for "Arja"
role and Kalpana Kolhe for "Akka" role as supporting actress
in Bruhannda play.
23rd September:
Village panchayat elections: Whopping number of nominations on last
day:
District administration yesterday got bombarded with large number
of applicants filling nomination on last day of village panchayat
election process filling. There are 2,940 candidates have filed nominations
for 129 village Panchayat undergoing term and 71 undergoing bye-election.
Exact picture would be clear after scrutiny and last day of withdrawing
nominations. Scrutinisation process is on Monday. Sujade, Deulwade,
Pathrad, Gangapuri and Waghlud panchayat have unopposed elections
with no second candidature.
Administration is setting up 503 polling booths at 14 taluka and has
manual coloured voting ballot papers system instead of electronic
voting machines.
Ganesha festivity at peak: Huge rush in evenings:
God Ganesha is bestowing his blessings all around. Region has flooding
rush of devotees during evening times to visit Ganesh Mandal. City
areas especially Navi Peth, Corporation building area and residential
areas are at peak traffic levels since yesterday after opening of
clouds.
State table tennis competition:
Taluka table tennis association conducted state table tennis competition
had repulsion to host Jalgaon team after defeat of Shridhar Tripathi
in quarter final match. Noel Pinto (Mumbai sub-urban), Jai Modak (Nashik),
Runa Roy made sensational victories by defeating rated players. Competition
ends today with prize distribution ceremony.
Satyashodhaki literary conference inaugurated:
The Satyashodhaki community literary conference began yesterday in
jalgaon amidst wonderful response from fellow members. The inaugural
ceremony evoked and stressed on identifying potential in community
literary in making a big social revolution. Conference today has farmer
suicides, play, discussion on modern Marathi literary and influence
of Satyashodhaki community along with "Me Bahinabai Boltey"
play. Conference ends today evening with prize distribution.
22nd September:
Monsoon raining reaching to marks: district records 86% rainfall:
Jalgaon district continue to witness wonderful monsoon raining. Entire
district witnessed medium to heavy raining for fourth consecutive
day. District's 7 out of 12 dam are turning full and most of taluka
are reaching above 80% mark with only exclusion of Pachora, Chalisgaon
and Bhadgaon having around 60% raining.
Administration has issued warning to those living on banks of Girana
following heavy water discharge through dam. Raining disrupted electricity
supply of 15 villages in the region.
"Satyashodhaki" conference begins today in Jalgaon:
All India Satyashodhak community is conducting its two days fifth
Satyashodhaki conference in Jalgaon today at Savitribai Fule Nagar
(Nutan Maratha College campus). Conference would have many senior
leaders, NMU VC, authors in inaugural ceremony. It is also conducting
a rally today and had named entrance gate as "Poetess Bahinabai
Chaudhari Gate".
Today's programmes include registration, rally, inaugural ceremony,
contribution of Satyashodhaki movement to feminism, Social attributes
contributed through periodic magazines, "Me Ambedkar Boltoy"
a cultural programme and invited literary conference.
Corporation standing committee election: NCP gets 3, Navnirman
gets 3 and BJP gets rest 2:
Corporation general body special meeting conducted yesterday elected
8 new members in standing committee. This includes ruling NCP getting
3, Navnirman Sena winning 3 and BJP getting rest 2.
Last day of filling nominations for village panchayat elections
today:
Jalgaon district's 129 panchayat are undergoing regular election along
with 71 having bye-elections on 07th October. There are 220,641 voters
in these panchayat. Today is last day of filling nominations for candidature
of this election. There are 113,132 male and 175,009 female voters
in this election.
State table tennis competition:
Taluka table tennis association conducted state level table tennis
competition yesterday had a pleasure note for Jalgaonities. Jalgaon
player Shirdhar Tripathi qualified for quarter final round in junior
category. Abhilash Patil lost his match in second round. Junior quarter
final matches would be played today.
21st September:
Hip-Hip Hurray: Jalgaon Airport Company Limited to come into existence:
Maharashtra State Airport Development Company has announced formation
of Jalgaon Airport Company Limited to make Jalgaon Airport a dream
come true project very soon. Chaired by District Collectorate, the
Company would raise funds from market and farmers availing their land
for this Airport would get preferential quota shares. It has shown
readiness to complete and startup Jalgaon Airport in 6 months after
acquiring land. Company plans to design and develop Jalgaon Airport
based on Kochi Airport model.
Authorities have announced 1.60 Lakhs per acre rate (4 Lakhs per hectare)
rate for land to this Airport. A group of 57 farmers having land in
this zone met yesterday and have announced Rs. 10 Lakhs per acre rate.
Proposed Jalgaon airport would have 3,200 feet height and 45 feet
wide and would get passenger and goods wagon facility as well. Jalgaon
airport company ltd. would float 20 Crores shares in market with face
value of Rs. 10 and would have guaranteed jobs for farmers availing
land to company. It would further enrich skills of team here with
Technical and Nursing, Air Hostess courses.
Heavy raining and cyclonic winds damages standing crop:
Jalgaon District's Raver, MuktaiNagar and Chopda Taluka have witnessed
cyclonic winds on Wednesday along with medium to heavy raining. This
has led to heavy losses to farmers on Jwar, Cotton and many other
standing crops. Primary estimates suggest around 400 hectare area's
1,400 villages witnessing 3 Crores losses. MuktaiNagar Taluka villages
have also witnessed heavy losses along with Chopda facing destruction
of standing sugarcane crop. District Administration is beginning losses
estimating today.
Raver and Yaval Taluka banana farms are facing Sigatoka fungal infection.
It is spreading further and has infected around 5,000 hectare banana
farms. Region has witnessed same infection in 1998. Agricultural department
is yet to announce control policy for this fungal infection.
Rs. 11.61 Crores developmental works from MLA funds:
MLA local Constituency development fund works worth 11 crores 61 lakhs
22 thousand 397 have been completed in 2006-07. This includes 9 crores
55 lakhs 60 thousands from MLA funds and rest from legislative council
member funds. Unutilised MLA funds of 4 lakhs 39 thousand 550 has
been sent back with 7 lakhs 22 thousands 53 of council member funds.
Most of works include Kolhapur type dam, mini-dam, road repairs and
patches works, rural development department works, small water supply
works, crematorium works, library, ashram schools, primary school
blocks.
State table tennis competition:
Taluka table tennis association conducted state competition ended
yesterday with Nagpur's Mallika Bhandarkar and Devdatta Fadnavis winning
Sub-Junior category and Nishad Shah with Hrutuja Khopkar in cadet
category. Avant Savji and Devika Bhide with Atharva Korde and Shaun
Rebelo won in doubles cadet category. Mallika and Charva Kavale along
with Devdatta and Soham Nandedkar won double sub-junior category competition.
Today under-15 and under-21 category matches would continue.
Dhruva Shah selected for national chess competition:
Jalgaon chess player Dhruva Shah has been selected in Central School
under-17 national chess competition. He qualified for this competition
by securing second rank in state level competition and first in divisional
competition. National competition is at Bhopal from 12th until 17th
October.
Divisional swimming competition: Jalgaon gets 67 medals:
Jalgaon swimmers have demonstrated phenomenal performance in divisional
school-level swimming competition at Nashik. Jalgaon's 10 won first,
15 won runner up and 42 won third prize in competition. This has qualified
19 players for Inter-School state level competition.
20th September:
Monsoon pours in the region:
Jalgaon city including rest of district witnessed one of best monsoon
showering yesterday evening. Raining continued for more than an hour
in medium to heavy form. Naigaon in MuktaiNagar Taluka witnessed cyclonic
winds caused heavy damages to standing crop. High pressure wind flow
led to electricity discrepancies in many parts of region.
Jalgaon Airport development work:
Maharashtra Airport Development Company Vice Chairman yesterday visited
Jalgaon Airport site and reviewed various developments at District
administration level to get rest of land. District Administration
is conducting a meeting of farmers and land owners in the existing
Kusumba region of Airport location. Administration including State
efforts to get Jalgaon Airport in pace has raised Jalgaonities spirits
higher with bureaucracy at work.
Ganesha festivity at peak: Huge rush in city during nights:
"Ganpati Bappa Morya" the enchanting sound echoes throughout
the region now with Lord Ganesha ruling the hearts of entire Maharashtra.
Continued raining on third consecutive day hardly slowed down rush
of devotees taking various Ganesha Mandal decoration looks. Various
Mandal have oraganised competitions to celebrate the festivity.
Corporation standing committee meeting approves 10 topics on agenda:
Corporation standing committee meeting yesterday approved 10 topics
on its agenda with majority amidst protest from opposition. Topics
include approving open space for Arya Chankya Multi Purpose society
behind Bahinabai Garden on nominal rental charges. Opposition members
demanded extension of Bahinabai Garden on this space as its only garden
in heart of city and have good community response as well. Corporation
is conducting a special meeting on 21st to elect 8 new members in
standing committee.
State Table tennis competition:
The State rated Table tennis competition began yesterday in Jalgaon.
The first day marked next round moving of ranked players in Cadet
and Sub-junior categories. Jalgaon players demonstrated good play
and continued their stand in third round.
Chinmay Atravalkar defeated Thane player by 12-14, 12-10, 11-6, 9-11
and 11-8. He lost in second round from another Thane player.
Asoda students selected in Divisional Gymnastics:
Asoda Public School students have won District Sports Authority and
Gymnastic association conducted competition in under-14 and under-17
category. This has qualified them for divisional gymnastics competition.
Players include Deepak Narkhede, Chintaman Pachpande, Ganesh Mali
in Under-14 and Ujjwal Chaudhari, Gaurav Bhole, Sagar Koli, Ketan
Patil, Dhanshree Patil, Rajnandini Patil, Karishma Patil and Gayatri
Chaudhari in Under-17 category.
19th September:
Traders versus State taxation tussle: Tea traders demand continuation
of 4% vat tax:
State Government has notified 12.5% vat tax on tea with effect from
01st October to that of existing 4% vat tax. Jalgaon district tea
traders association has demanded continuation and permanent fixing
of 4% vat on tea being amongst most used commodity amongst common
men.
All neighboring states and even central government empowered committee
on vat taxes has recommended 1% or 4% vat tax on Tea. Maharashtra
government has been shirking taxation on tea since last two years.
Interestingly state revenues have significantly grown following 4%
vat on Tea and this contrary act has led to chaos amongst trade community.
Increasing vat tax would lead to inflation in tea prices by at least
8-10 Rs. per Kilogram (tea being available at average price of Rs.
110+)
Monsoon raining showers throughout district:
Entire Jalgaon district including Jalgaon city witnessed medium showery
raining yesterday. Raining began in evening and continued for around
30 minutes. Showering has escaped standing cotton crops. The meteorological
department has reported further raining during upcoming 48 hours in
entire region.
Administration has discharged around 2,000 cusecs of rainwater from
Girana dam following continued raining. District's newly built Waghur
dam now has around 60% water storage and district has witnessed 79.73%
raining as of today.
NMU Management council meeting approves various courses:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon Management council has approved
introduction of Nano-Technology, Bio Informatics, Geo Informatics,
Drugs Chemistry, Actuarial Science and foreign Languages courses from
upcoming academic year.
State table tennis competition begins today in Jalgaon:
Taluka table tennis assoiciation is conducting State rated table tennis
competition at Eklavya sports complex from today. Competition has
Rs. 84,500 prize money and is being conducted for 14th consecutive
time.
Organisers have received 634 entries that include 75 local participants.
It has 16 categories with men's singles, women's singles, junior,
sub-junior singles and doubles, cadet singles and doubles etc.
18th September:
Jalgaon Airport Developments:
Jalgaon district administration yesterday conducted a press briefing
on updates relating to Jalgaon airport works. Administration has received
intent letters from Jet Airways and Air Deccan to setup their services
in proposed Jalgaon Airport. District Administration is working harder
to get 180 hectares land for this airport work. Currently it has 45
hectares land at airport location and is urging to avail land from
Nashirabad and Bhadli based farmers having land in this zone.
Administration earlier has received letter from State Secretariat
on inability of developing airport following insufficient land availability.
It has requested of confidence in getting required land to state airport
development authority and state officials in short time.
EC orders Ballots based voting in Panchayat Elections:
State Election Commission has issued an order to conduct Village Panchayat
Elections through Ballots instead of Electronic voting machines. Election
is scheduled on 07th October. It has also issued order to accept caste
validity certificates at respective Tahsil for other than scheduled
tribes' candidates.
It has issued order to use variable color ballot that includes light
pink for scheduled caste, light green for scheduled tribe, light yellow
for OBC and white for open category candidates.
Divisional Basket ball competition: Jain Engineering and Kotecha
College wins:
Jain Engineering College team has won Inter-divisional Basket ball
boys competition along with Kotecha College Bhusawal winning in Girls
category. P. G. Gymkhana and Jain Engineering teams won runner up
awards in boys and girls category respectively.
Shaikh Azhar and Aquila Paul won Best Players award and Pradeep Sapkale
and Shagupta Shaikh won Best shooters award.
Panchayat Committee Heads association established:
Jalgaon District Village Panchayat Committee Heads have formed an
association named District Panchayat Committee Heads Association.
The association aims at fighting for availing voting rights in legislative
council, availing MLA status to Committee heads. It also plans to
conduct statewide meeting of Committee heads to gear up these demands.

Village Panchayat election process begins today:
Jalgaon District's 11 Taluka's 130 Village Panchayat election process
is beginning from today. Nomination forms selling and acceptance process
begins today. Nomination forms would be available from 11AM until
3PM at respective Taluka Tahsil offices. Amalner Taluka has maximum
number of 24 village Panchayat undergoing election in this schedule.

Jalgaon Festival begins with marathon:
Jalgaon District Police and District Athletics Association jointly
conducted Jalgaon festivity began yesterday in Jalgaon with Marathon
competition. Ramesh Patil, Deepak Bhoi and Mohammed Azad won male
category marathon while Swapnali Sonawane, Sarika Bhoi and Shweta
Sonawane won from female category.
Festivity continues throughout the week with various activities including
arts exhibition at police multi-purpose hall, multi-lingual literary
meet, patriotic songs competition etc.
City Police alters some of routes following Ganesha festivity:
Jalgaon City Traffic Police has altered traffic on some of peak routes
in city during evening times to balance load. This includes Subhash
Chowk to Rath Chowk, Rath Chowk to Bohra Chowk, Rath Chowk to Panjhrapol
Tank, People's Bank Chowk to Subhash Chowk areas. All traffic on these
routes from 6PM until 12PM remains closed.
Additionally Navi Peth area Bank street also remains closed during

Lord of happiness Ganesha is here in the region with wonderful cheering

District Police has reported 972 registered Ganesha Mandal in entire

Chopda and Madhukar Sugar factories get State guarantee aid:
Chopda Co-operative Sugar factory and Madhukar Co-operative Sugar
Factory have received Rs. 2.50 Crores Outstanding dues guarantee.
This guarantee aid would help factories in withdrawing funds towards
labour and remuneration during ongoing sugarcane pickup.
Jalgaon Airport to get Rs. 10 Crores State grant:
Maharashtra Airport Development Company has introduced a special provision
of Rs. 10 Crores for speed up of Jalgaon airport works. Jalgaon District
Administration would receive this fund after finalisation of land
on Jalgaon airport. Administration has called a second meeting of
land owning farmers on 20th September to further discuss developments.

Welcome Ganesha - Goodbye woes:
Lord of happiness and well-being Ganesha is arriving today throughout
the region. Entire region has turned Gajanan way with cheer and enthusiasm.
There are 200 Ganesh Mandal in Jalgaon city and 2,000 Mandal in entire
District.
Ganesha festivity this year has a special reason to rejoice with Ganesha
showering his blessing of prosperity on the region. Region has witnessed
one of satisfying and good monsoon raining and had no as such major
incidence to take record. Region has witnessed education sector revolution
with arrival of many of private quality focusing schools and colleges.

Demand for inclusion of Jalgaon in National Food grains Mission:
Jalgaon district farmers and communities have initiated demands for
inclusion of Jalgaon district in National Food grains protection mission.
Jalgaon district is currently excluded in this mission introduced
by Central Government in 11th Five years plan. The mission has identified
other districts as grains producing districts including Dhule. Jalgaon
has around 40,000 hectares area per year under grains with 30 quintal
per hectare productivity. District's Yaval, Raver, Chopda, Jalgaon
and Jalgaon Taluka have 40-45 quintal per hectare productivity of
grains.
The mission facilitates farmer with subsidized and special rates facilities,
fertilizers and pesticides, agricultural pumps, harvester etc with
gypsum in case of non-fertile lands.
District police beefs up security following festivity season:
Jalgaon district Police has introduced special security measures following
ongoing Ganesha and Ramazan festivity in the whole region. It has
appointed 8 DYSP, 25 Police Inspectors and 85 Assistant Police Inspectors
on this security monitoring and patrolling. District now has 2,000
male Police and 80 female police constables along with 1,000 male
and 100 female home guards on duty. District Police has called a special
platoon of State Reserved Police and 150 newly included Policemen
from Nagpur Police Training centre.
Police yesterday conducted a meeting of all Ganesh Mandal and Peace
committee. It has urged all Mandal to introduce low-cost based, communal
harmony promoting decorations and strict adherence to regulations
to help Police smooth conduct entire festive season.
State-level Sports competition: District players win bronze:
Jalgaon players have won two bronze medals in State Athletics Association
and Pune District Athletics Association conducted State Senior category
athletics competition. This includes Jalgaon players completing 4x400
meters relay competition completed in 4:4.3 minutes scoring third.
Jalgaon team had Lalchand Suryawanshi, Prakash Mali, Shailesh Gayakwad,
Shaikh Anis. Sachin Bhoi won bronze in another event.

Corporation Standing Committee member election process soon:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation standing committee's eight member
terms are ending on 01st October. This has led to political movements
amongst circles for new member election. Administration is likely
to conduct a special general meeting on 21st September for this process.
Standing committee chairperson is elected for a period of year while
members are for a period of two years.
Save Satpuda Forestry Movement makes a protest march at Collectorate:
Khandesh region's only and one of oldest and most beautiful Satpuda
forestry is diminishing with continuing tree cuttings. Save Satpuda
Forestry Movement has reported entry of MadhyaPradesh forestry tribes
cutting down tress sharply. Movement took a protest march yesterday
at District Collectorate and demanded immediate action to save this
beautiful natural resource of Khandesh region. Satpuda forestry has
witnessed increasing encroachments and livings leading to cutting
down of trees and imbalance in ecology in the region.
Pune dominates State badminton competition:
Jalgaon District Badminton association conducted State-level junior
badminton competition ended yesterday with Pune players dominating
series. Pune players Mudra Dhainje won Girls category while Nihar
Tilekar won Boys category along with Sanyogita Ghorpade and Gauri
Ghate (Mumbai) in Doubles girls and Kaustubh Virkar (Pune) and Jatin
Verma (Nagpur). Bombay Sub-urban player Debashish Mishra won Best

Inter-School Cricket competition: St. Teresa School wins
St. Teresa Convent English Medium School Jalgaon has won District
Cricket Association Corporation area under-14 cricket competition.
It defeated Iqra Shahin High School team in final by 24 runs. St.
Teresa Player Vijay won Man of the Match Award for his 25 runs while
Saurabh took four wickets by giving just 6 runs. Team has now qualified
for divisional competition.
13th September:
Monsoon 2007 showers: District's 7 dams turn houseful:
Jalgaon district continue to witness best of monsoon this year. Jalgaon
district's 7 dam have turned 100% full as of now with 78.10% rainfall
recorded as of now. Region's one of major water resource, Girana dam
has turned 100% full for fourth consecutive year. Pachora, Chalisgaon
and Bhadgaon Taluka in district have witnessed comparatively lower
raining this year. District Irrigation department has began availing
water for irrigation from newly built up Waghur dam from this year.
Administration announces Rs. 1.60 Lakh per acre for Airport land:
Jalgaon District Administration has announced special rate of Rs.
1.60 Lakhs per acre (around 4 Lakhs for a hectare) for availing land
for developing Jalgaon airport. Jalgaon Sub-divisional Officer has
called for a farmer's meeting on 20th September to arrive at finalization
on land rate for airport.
Starting up of airport in Jalgaon would benefit all sectors of society
and region's overall business growth. Nashirabad region's 58 farmers
have land in current Airport land nearby zone and administration has
raised these efforts as a special measure to push these farmers in
availing land.
District Co-operative Department announces action on 40 Co-operative
societies not refunding deposits:
State Co-operative department has announced legal actions on 40 co-operative
societies not refund deposits of customers following financial woes.
It has appointed Administrators on 18 co-operative societies amongst
these 40 societies.
Jalgaon District currently has 929 urban co-operative credit societies.
These 40 societies have 111,312 depositors having 63,838.78 Lakhs
deposited. It plans to refund 24,238 depositors with 5,054.85 Lakhs
deposit in first phase. It has availed refund of Rs. 663.02 Lakhs
to 4,851 depositors as of 10th September.
Board has initiated actions under Maharashtra Co-operative Societies
Act 1960 against five societies in section 83 and 9 societies under
section 88. This includes one society taken possession of and another
booked in legal case. Board continues its Audit in 30 Societies through
Government auditors.
Practical implementation of appointment of administrators with customer-saving
approach and lower political influences could only escape urban societies
of this danger.
NMU receives Rs. 60 Lakhs UGC grant:
Khandesh region educational hub North Maharashtra University Jalgaon
has received special grant of Rs. 60 Lakhs for setting up infrastructural
resources in Microbiology, chemistry and physical for research works.
UGC has availed grants under SAP/ DRS project with Rs. 20 Lakhs each
to departments.
NMU has sent proposals for School of Mathematical Science, Computer,

District Magistrate enforces Section 37(1) and 37(3):
Jalgaon District Magistrate has enforced section 37(1) and 37(3) of
Bombay Police Act 1951 from 14th until 27th September in order to
maintain Law and Order situation during festivity.

Corporation begins By-election forms acceptance:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation administration has begun its by-election
nomination forms acceptance from today. Election is on 07th October.
Last date of filling nominations is 19th September followed by scrutiny
on 20th September and withdrawal on 24th and sign distribution on
25th September. This ward# 13C election has 6,383 eligible voters
as per revised electoral roll.
Manudevi festivity from today:

11th September:
Jalgaon District administration announced 25% additional rate for
Airport land:
Jalgaon district administration making its one of best efforts to
process Airport land acquisition issue has announced special addition
of 25% in government valuation to farmers availing land. Administration
needs 180 hectares of land to initiate airport development work through
Maharashtra State Airport Development Corporation. It needs to acquire
67 farmers land in existing airport nearby zone.
The area has around Rs. 2 Lakh/ 3 Lakh per hectare rate and even farmers
wants to retain their existing lands. Administration would conduct
a special meeting of farmers on Wednesday to discuss this offer further.
Administration is also exploring possibility of getting entire new
location with desired space.

Jalgaon District Badminton association conducted State rated badminton

Parola's two youth drowns in Tapi:
Parola based two brothers went to Kapileshwar Mahadev Temple in Amalner
drown in Tapi River basin yesterday. Younger brother went inside to
escape elder brother drowning also snubbed inside. Authorities are
yet to recover their bodies.

Octroi woes traders: Hits wholesale market badly:
Jalgaon region's one of fastest ever once growing and dynamic Dana
Bazaar is witnessing harsh days in its history. Octroi Tax has led
to dipping down of volumes and turnover of wholesale traders in the
region. Jalgaon traders once known for their higher competitive pricing
have now failed to match with increasing cost of goods procured and
increased tax burden.
Grains, Flour, Tea, Pipes, Pulses are major produces sold by traders
to whole State and rest of country. Increased purchase costing added
with ease of access and more of competing markets like Akola, Nagpur

NMU revamps College-level exams:
North Maharashtra University Jalgaon has announced change of examination
pattern for first year students in its affiliated colleges in Jalgaon,
Dhule and Nandurbar districts. The Exam Board of NMU yesterday announced
this significant policy change.
Under new system, first year Arts, Science and Commerce stream students
would undergo 80 marks written test and rest 20 marks would be based
on internal evaluation. These 20-marks have 10 marks derived from
50 points. It includes three written (10 marks), 3 practical (10 marks)
and 3 seminars (10marks). These 30 marks would be converted to five
marks in overall result. This would have addition of presence and
interaction in class (10 marks each) converted to five marks. This
pattern comes in effect from academic year 2007-08.
State-level Badminton competition in Jalgaon:
Jalgaon District Badminton association is conduct State rated Junior
Badminton competition from 10th until 13th September at Eklavya Sports
complex and District Badminton Hall in Jalgaon. Competition has received
415 record entries as of now. It includes Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Sangli,
Nanded, Amravati, Satara and Jalgaon district players. Competition
has a total of Rs. 55,000 prize money.
It has Junior Boys singles category 62 players, doubles category 9
pairs, sub-junior boys' singles under-16 - 86 players and doubles
- 23 pairs. There are 42 players in sub-junior girls' under-16 category
along with 9 pairs in doubles. There are 50 players in boys' under-13
category and 18 pairs in doubles along with 30 girls and 11 pairs
in respective category. It also has 13 players in under-10 boys and
8 girl players.

Corporation committee emphasizes speedy processing of Waghur dam works:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation Special Committee on Waghur dam
project has recommended speedy processing of related works. Meet reviewed
various works done and had presence of standing committee Chairman,
planning committee head along with contractors involved.
Earlier Corporation announced opening of dam water supply to Jalgaon
city on 02nd October. It still is in process of finishing of various
works. Various undergoing works include Electricity connectivity,

Jalgaon included in National Horticultural Mission:
Central Government National Horticultural department has included
Jalgaon district in its Year 2007-08 National Horticultural mission.
Department has approved State's ambitious 250 Crores plan for NHM
implementation in the State.
Mission aims at enhancing and availing latest machinery and tools
for cultivation, setting new farms, rejuvenating old farms, common
farm bases, controlled farming, HR development and many other aspects.
Mission has a variety of fruits and agricultural produces included
in implementation.
JDCC Bank restarts Crop Loan for farmers:
Jalgaon District Central Co-operative Bank has restarted availing
crop loans to farmers in district. Bank earlier stopped availing loan
following cash crunch to achieve its 302.07 Lakhs Target for this
year. Bank has already availed 285.89 Lakhs crop loan in this year.
Bank plans to avail this loan until 30th September and has now received
State permission to draw advances from 02nd September for this purpose.
Dr. Suresh Alijhad receives State Best Teacher award on NMU level:
Jamner Arts, Commerce and Science College Principal Dr. Suresh Alijhad
have received State Best Teacher Award for the year. He has received
this award in a ceremony at Mumbai on eve of Teacher's Day. Earlier
he has worked in Chopda College as Vice Principal and head of Geography

Monsoon raining in Jalgaon and Bhusawal:
Jalgaon city, Bhusawal, Yaval and Raver have witnessed medium showery
raining yesterday evening. Continued showering has resulted in flooding
of Sarita-Harita River in the region. Flooding has not caused any
casualties as of now. MuktaiNagar also witnessed good raining yesterday.
Savda Banana Export Centre work in full pace:
Banana export facilitation centre work is in full pace at Savda. The
State agricultural marketing board has availed Rs. 4 Crores funds
for this project and it is likely to be completed in next 6 months.
Jalgaon district has Raver, Yaval having record banana produces every
year with 50,000 hectares under banana cultivation. Raver has major
share of 18,000 hectares in this produces. Setting up of this centre
would considerably reduce shipment timing. This centre is being setup
on Faizpur road at Savda.

District RTO reports: 371,576 vehicles in Jalgaon district:
Jalgaon District Road Transport Officer has reported 371,576 vehicles
in Jalgaon district. Report further states entry of around 150 new
vehicles including two-wheelers and four-wheelers every day. District
has witnessed sharp increase in two-wheeler segment with 284,325 two-wheelers
registered. Jalgaon has 21,741 personal four-wheelers, 18,603 Auto-Rickshaw
and Taxi Cab and above 300 passenger and school buses. RTO has registered
79,161 vehicles in 2003.

District Administration gets 4.29 Crores for 19 sand blocks:
Jalgaon District Administration has auctioned 19 out of 30 Sand Blocks
in Jalgaon Districts for Rs. 4 Crores 29 Lakhs 66,224 Rupees. Administration
now has planned to float new tenders for rest of the locations.
Interestingly this year's auction did not had any of Big-B taking
part in process. Administration has received highest of one Crore
30 Lakhs 61,000 for Khedi Khurd in Jalgaon. Process begun on at 10AM
and continued until 6PM. Jalgaon division has received highest value
of 3 Crores 2 Lakhs 50,000. Others include Bhusawal having 903,000,

Jalgaon District Police has announced its final listing containing
107 male and 36 female candidates. This include Open category - 57,

District Administration's mega sand auctioning today:
Jalgaon District administration is conducting its mega sand auctioning
process for 13 out of 30 Blocks. In all 65 parties took forms while
26 submitted for these blocks. Amongst most popular and highest quoted
location includes Khedi Bk on Girana River Bank with 1.30 Crores valuation.
Administration has taken tight Police security with restricted entry
to avoid troubles during the process.
District Police recruitment drive result today:
Jalgaon District Police would announce its list of short-listed candidates
for 151 vacant constable posts. It began process on 17th August amidst
enthusiastic participation from youth in the region. In all 7,883
candidates (including 600 female candidates) appeared for physical
test that continued until 21st August. Later 1,883 candidates (including
66 female) appeared for written exam. This process followed with Interviewing
of 1073 male and 46 female candidates based on caste category and
parameters. Administration would announce final listing of 151 finally
selected candidates today.
Railways mega block on Thursday, 06th September:
Central Railways Bhusawal Division Engineering Department is conducting
a major repair and works on Jalgaon Railway track. This would cause
around 4 hours block on the route. Works would begin on 09:40AM and
continues until 13:40PM. This would lead delay to 2779Dn Goa Express,
2859Dn Gitanjali Express, 5017 Kashi Express, 2833Dn Ahmedabad Howrah

University Employees Confederation Convention in Jalgaon:
All India University Employees Confederation is conducting its convention
in North Maharashtra University Jalgaon from 07th until 09th September.
The convention focuses on changing trends in higher education and
role and responsibilities of non-teaching employees thereof.
North Maharashtra University Non-Teaching Employees and Officers Association
and NMU Backward classes Employees association are jointly hosting

Express Highway Road issues spreads woes amongst Jalgaonities:
Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation collects around 75 Lakhs of taxes
from Jalgaonities living on edges of State Highway crossing through
Jalgaon city boundaries. The Highway Authorities have begun four-lane
Express Highway work and has started removing encroachments in between
proposed roads. Corporation Administration has not initiated its steps
to check this encroachment issue and those loosing houses and land
in this tussle, have expressed rage on Corporation's such depressive
and non-protective move.
Highway Authorities have sketched marks on its road boundaries that
comes inside some of houses and land on edges of Highway. These house
owners's have duly completed and verified plans of Corporation Town

quality, material/ equipments made, Confidentiality Report, Scholarship
Classes planning and overall development with each topic having score
of 5 points. Evaluation committee had eight members each scoring on
25 points. ZP would honor these teachers on eve of Teacher's Day on
05th September.
District Administration enforces sections 37(1) and 37(3) in Jalgaon
district:
Jalgaon District Administration has enforced Bombay Police Act 1951
section 37(1) and 37(3) in Jalgaon district from 02nd September 7AM
until 19th September midnight in order to maintain Law and Order situation
during upcoming Janmashtami, Pola and other festivities.
Erandol Municipal Council gets Rs. 3 Lakhs cleanliness Award:
State has announced a prize of Rs. 3 Lakhs to Erandol Municipal Council
under Saint Gadge Baba Village Cleanliness Drive. The council has
implemented all 15 parameters of evaluation in this cleanliness drive
in the city.

Kharip Crop in good conditions:
Good raining in last 4 days has raised hopes of good Kharip Crop this
season. Arrival of raining in medium to heavy form has led to good
productivity especially for Jwar, Bazra, Corn and cotton crops.
Jalgaon District has received 2,000 tones of Potash via Railway rack.
Agricultural authorities have reported arrival of another rack in
next 5-6 days followed by one rack of mixed fertilizers around 10th
September. District has been witnessing shortage of fertilizers and
pesticides since last month. This arrival would ease demand pressure
and help farmers finish off their cultivation tasks.
MPSC exam on 02nd September:
Maharashtra State Public Services Commission (MPSC) exam is being
conducted on Sunday, 02nd September throughout State. There are 3,964
candidates appearing for this exam from Jalgaon centre. Administration
has setup 12 centers in Jalgaon city with 170 blocks and entire team
for smooth conduct of exam.
District Cricket Association conducted Inter-School cricket competition:
Jalgaon District Cricket Association is conducting Inter-school boys
Cricket competition for Corporation-level schools. Competition begins
on 11th September for under-14 category, on 17th September for under-16
category and on 22nd September for under-19 category. Girl's cricket
competitions are from 01st September until 03rd September.
